Good parking clean room

Inside the hotel the furnishings seemed a little tired in places. When I arrived it was dark and was raining. Most of the carpark was unlit. Being unlit it was difficult to see defined parking spaces. Some lighting on the carpark would have helped.

Room was fine , we were in a cottage, split in to 4 bedrooms etc.Parking fine, very handy for pubs and shops.

Very good value and convenient for events at Telford International Centre (and much cheaper prices!) Shifnal Station is 5 minutes walk and 5 minutes travel to Telford Central. Staff were very polite and helpful!

Perfect location close to M54. Pity the restaurant was closed on a Saturday night due to there being a wedding

We checked in with a big dog. We were accommodated perfectly in a cottage style room. Ideal to let the dog out. All staff were very helpful and friendly.Definitely stay here again

Beautiful grounds around the hotel. Room was very nice and bed very comfy. Lots of parking available too. Bar service was good and quick. Few downsides to the hotel though. Not really anything around it and the prices in the hotel are very high. Also, whilst waiting to check in, the receptionists were discussing other guests and called one of the a ‘pain in the ass’ before acknowledging we were waiting to check in which is highly inappropriate.

The property is currently undergoing major renovations, but the areas already completed are excellent. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

Weve stayed here many tines in the past and always loved it. Sadly now it has changed hands we are disappointed with the service in rhe restaurant for dinner and breakfast....the pool is no longer in use...and the layout is now confusing.

Beautiful hotel with lovely grounds. On arrival was met by friendly staff. Rooms large clean and an excellent standard. The food was of a high standard. I can’t knock it. Will definitely be returning

This hotel is sadly an example of great on the outside but not so good on the inside. Like others we were drawn by the lovely images of a posh looking manor house, what we got when we arrived and checked in was very different. The reception is located at the rear of the property and feels more like an after thought in terms of the design. The receptionist was lovely and very helpful. We were situated in one of the cottage rooms which we thought nothing of as it seemed to be another unique aspect of this venue. When we walked into the room, we were initially surprised by the size but then when we started to look around we started to notice that the attention to detail did not carry over in to the rooms. The ceiling had water damage, that had not been covered up, the chairs and carpets had stains on them that had not been cleaned. There was a little area before the bathroom with a light but no light switch. The overall cleaning and maintenance seemed poor with marks on taps, toilet seat and even stuble from a previous occupant, not being cleaned off. The shower head was particularly disgusting and needed replacing rather than cleaning. The door hinges on the bathroom were covered in years of rust as well. The bed was lovely and comfortable and bedding seemed to be ok. The sleep however was not great as every time either you used the water or someone in the room above us did, the pipes made an awful noise and as a result woke me up more than once.

In one of the little cottages so just off carpark. Plenty of parking spaces. Very quiet and room really clean. Coffee and tea facilities and toiletries. Would be nice to have a bottle of water as well. Bed really comfy. Spacious bathroom plenty of towels. Breakfast was good, warm plates and food, area a bit small so gets congested especially when visitors hang around the toaster thereby blocking the area. As a solo traveller felt safe and well looked after.

Friendly staff, but the room was very tired stained headboard and carpets, skum around taps and shower curtain, 25 degrees and no fans provided in the rooms.

The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Mine was a last minute reservation and I needed two accessible rooms. Julie in reception (and others during our stay) could not have been more helpful. Our rooms suited our needs perfectly - spotlessly clean, comfortable and very well maintained. This hotel has my highest recommendation.

A lovely Hotel, with friendly, helpful staff.. Not much to complain about really, its an old Hotel, it just needs a little TLC really. The Room and bathroom were lovely and clean. The bar prices were a bit on the steep side

Quiet, clean and comfortable room. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Rooms in the "cottages" a bit tired and run-down - smell of damp and leaking tap. Main hotel may be different. Decent value but no indication of why it has 4 stars rather than 3 stars.

Have stayed at this hotel in the past and it was amazing but this time around I had a cottage and it was extremely tired looking and unfortunately a bit grotty. The windows were rotten and black. The blind was dirty, shabby and broken. It was held together with what looked like shoe laces. The bathroom was dingy, with taps that didn’t work well at all. I couldn’t close the velux window as it was mouldy. There was a weird bug as I got out of the bath. I appreciate this happens but with everything else it just added to the negatives of the place. The sheets were clean and the bed was comfy. Tea and coffee was provided so all the basics were there. It’s a shame as with a bit of effort the room would have been nice.

Overall I loved this stay. The staff are all lovely, and the communal areas (bar, restaurant) are beautiful. My room was very clean, although its age was showing. Some mould on the bathroom sealant (the type that is impossible to clean off), a missing spacer/rest on the toilet lid, and whenever the toilet was flushed, the cistern lid would raise! But a powerful flush, which is always welcome in a hotel. The bed was so comfortable, I slept better than I do at home. There was plenty of tea coffee and milk in the room, also biscuits. The wifi was excellent - best hotel in Shifnal for wifi. Housekeeping staff are also brilliant - I was 'Do not Disturb' until gone noon, and still my room was pristine when I returned that night. I've stayed in much more expensive hotels where I would have missed housekeeping in this situation. The only real problem for me was the temperature. To be comfortable I had to turn the radiator off and leave the window open. I was on the second floor, and so presumably was getting the heat from the rest of the overheated hotel, and so this was where the star rating for environmental friendliness went down to 2. I suspect the hotel generally heats to around 28 degrees or more - it was positively tropical, so this may be a bonus for some people, especially in winter. But this is overall a great hotel for the price, and was quiet at night, even during the party season. It's certainly my first choice for staying in the area.

Shame really, was a nice place 20 yers ago but has been let go. Floor boards creaked, bedroom above was really noisy at night, lots of road noise from traffic , bathroom fittings loose and missing, floor tiles in bathroom not none slip so easy to slip on wet floor, wall tile grout not cleaned. Bath panel looked older than me an I,ve just retired. TV too small for the room so it was necessary to move the table nearer each night. Having building work done so it was like staying on a very untidy construction site. RECEPTIONIST WAS VERY HELPFULL , bar man not, when asked if i could borrow some scissors to open some bags was told not allowed to lend guests scissors, come on. Definitely not 4*, premier inn twice as good. Rubish and skips everywhere and a mobile caravan in the car park for the builers to sleep in, perhaps it was better than the hotel. Finally when you arrive there is a letter in the room thanking me for my cooperation and understanding whilst the place is a building site. At what point did I agree to that? Very overpriced for what it is and a lick of paint will not cure that

We stayed in the main building, the room was lovely but the old floorboards creaked.. a lot, so the people in the room above us sounded like they were doing the can-can everytime they moved.

Lovely spacious room and ensuite bathroom, with added perk of a bath (I love a relaxing bath when on holiday!). Plenty of hot water. Unfortunately washing hair in shower was very difficult as shower controls were too sensitive to get the right temperature - either too hot or too cold. Comfortable bed and quiet room. Great night's sleep once I had removed plastic mattress cover! Why on earth are guests assumed to be incontinent/likely to spill liquid on the bed?! - there are many very reasonably priced non-plastic, more comfortable mattress protectors that can be bought.

Nice room but spoiled by fact window wouldn't open, room was stifling. Gigantic bed , a bit on hard side. Breakfast standard buffet fare. Hotel undergoing extensive building work at moment. Pleased to see extensive solar panels on flat roof . Plentiful hot water. Staff friendly and helpful.

Adequate facilities but in our “premier” room there was a failed lamp, broken light switch and insufficient towels in the bathroom. Toilet was difficult to flush needs several operations. Generally the decor is jaded.

The hotel is fine if you need one in this area. Room was soooo hot. The place is like a rabbit warren lol. When we arrived the front desk lady wasnt very helpfully but it was a bit busy. Breakfast was average but the staff were very good.

Room was adequate and comfortable but terribly cold with very thin single panes windows. Very noisy with church bells from early hours. Decor quite tired and dated- broken tap in sink, slow drainage of water, no plug in sink. Staff were very friendly and helpful and clearly doing their best!

Staff excellent. Food was average, not on par with the price. Room was way too hot and stuffy; radiators on permanently. I had to open the window fully and leave it open all night. I developed a headache after a few hours, had little sleep and woke up exhausted. The hallway was very warm too. No fridge in room, no water in room. I ended up using cooled boiled water from the kettle that I drank to try to stave off the thumping headache. A poor nights stay. As soon as I got outside in the morning I felt a lot better. A real shame as the building was nice, excellent parking and great staff.

Very dated hotel. Cold tap running warm water, shower didn’t even get warm. Overall smell of damp in the annexe rooms. Woken by hearing every word said by the neighbour in the next room who was trying to be quiet.

Check in was smooth sailing, lovely friendly staff throughout out the stay. Rooms are dated and due a refurb, which I think is undergoing anyways. We went to go to an event at the RAF museum. Local transport was a little inconvenient. Service was wonderful from the staff. Very polite and professional. Food on the evening and for breakfast was excellent. Dessert menu was slightly boring but lovely still. I would stay here again we all had a wonderful time. Thank you to the staff who went above and beyond and gave a 10/10 service.

Really friendly and helpful staff

We really enjoyed our stay, food choice was good for evening meals and not too over priced. Self serve breakfast had a very good variety of food, from full English to cereals and fruit etc. Room and beds were very comfortable. Receptionist on Friday and Saturday evening, was very helpful. We are not tekkie, so she went above and beyond to help us book a local taxi firm for a wedding venue 10 minutes away. Price was what we expected to pay, and they were on time and pleasant. All staff at hotel were very helpful and pleasant. Thank you

Property is large with ample parking and couple of minites from centre which has plenty going on. Thebrooms are large also, although a little dated, the facilities downstairs have all been recently refurbished and look great. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and the breakfast was great. The only issue we had was when we were checking in, in which we had paid for an early check in, the reception desk was not manned, nobody came to assist for nearly 10 minutes and although we had paid for an early check in for 1pm we didnt get to the room until after 1.15pm, which wouldnt have been too much of an issue but when paying £20 for each room for 2 hours you dont expect to lose the first 15 minutes of this waiting at reception to get served and then waiting to see if housekeeping had the rooms ready. Other than that we had a great stay and would stay again but certainly not be requesting an early check in.

Not overly friendly check in. Twin room. Only one set of towels given. Dinner - had to wait for staff to attend. Greasy tempura prawns. Too much sauce. Plastic cheese on the nachos. Good breakfast. Easy check out. Good parking.

The check in experience was great, really friendly reception staff explained everything. Room was good size, nice and clean. Only complaint would be was top warm and window quite old and stiff to open. We had a drink in the bar and the service was atrocious!!! If we hadn't been staying there we would have walked out. There was a party in front that got served and then The bar person just walked out of the bar. Nothing said to us, no explanation, nothing at all. When she came back eventually more than 5 minutes later with no apology for leaving us standing there waiting. I ordered 2 drinks which she couldn't remember and then got wrong. Any other place I would have walked out.

Have stayed many times and appreciate there is an upgrade programme to the building. Initial check in very dismissive. Room clean , quiet, did not eat here, bar slow and inefficient. Good parking facilities.

An excellent two day stay and ideal location for visiting Ironbridge and the RAF Museum, Cosford. Staff friendly and very helpful

It was in a good central location in easy walking distance of Shifnal if you wanted to eat elsewhere. We had a room in one of the cottages which was very nice and quiet, as it was away from the main function rooms in the hotel. The only issue was that the shower did not fully heat up as the shower thermostat wasn't functioning correctly. They offered us another room to move to, but as the water for the bath and sink was nice and hot we chose not to move. It was a good base for visiting Blists Hill and the other Ironbridge museums as only a 15 min drive away. Would stay again.

Great place to stay for a night out in Shifnal

Food was very average and overpriced based on the quality provided. Hotel itself was OK, but the area outside the hotel was in need of a good tidy. Bearing in mind the rabbit hole nature, there was a distinct lack of signs telling guests where the reception, bar and restaurant were located.

Great stay! Great atmosphere. Stylish decorated hotel with professional staff that made us feel very welcome. The bathroom could benefit from an upgrade but the room was spacious and clean and the beds were super comfortable. Our dinner was superb. Our breakfast excellent value.

Stayed on a Sunday evening so the hotel was quiet, and the location is probably always quiet. Unfortunately on Sundays there isn't an opportunity for food other than sitting in the main restaurant. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The bathroom needs upgrading but was OK.

Clean and tidy throughout. Staff friendly and helpful and drinks reasonably priced. The evening menu is a bit limited and boring for vegans so I didn't eat there. The breakfast is like £13 if purchased once there and not in advance, so cheaper options available. Also the menu for breakfast didn't show vegan options, even if there may have been options upon request. The room was comfortable with an arm chair and shower over bath. Ample free parking. Needs touching up in some areas like peeling paint in room.
