We needed a bed for the night and we got one. No frills but the manager / owner was welcoming and helpful. Place needs a lot of tlc but good location and did what we needed it to do.

The chosen room was too hot occasionally. Also, bathroom could use improvement.

I don't like writing bad reviews. However the toilet was very dirty and the shower hose had black slime on it, and I had to clean both before using. Also the towels seemed old and a bit grimy. When I complained to the manager aboutbthe dirty toilet, he changed from being quite friendly to abrupt and dismissive, with only a blunt "sorry" before turning away and muttering "have a good day". That evening I tripped over a step in the corridor near my room as there were no lights or visible light switches there. I could have been lying on the floor all night and no-one would have known. No-one was around when I left so I was unable to tell anyone about my fall. A tiny single ensuite room cost me £90 per night with no breakfast. Very disappointed.

Do your research before you go, so you are ready for it, but once you do, you may actually enjoy it a lot. The hotel is very basic, super simple and outdated rooms with simple bathrooms (a bar of soap, no shower gel, nice white towels, good power shower), some stairs to climb. I got a small room with no sea view. The hotel is run by a lovely gentleman, very old style, with the handwritten check-in book rather than the computer. During this process he may tell you some stories. It has added so much character to our stay. We were standing at the reception desk for at least 20 minutes chatting. I chose this place for the location and availability on my date. I was worried after reading some reviews, but I wouldn't mind staying again.
