Great hotel within walking distance of SAP. Highly recommend staying here although be forewarned they only have valet parking and it was $47.

Good location. Friendly staff that was responsive. Limited parking, $40 to valet. Room in general was clean, but the windows (inside and outside) were filthy, which was disappointing and ruined view and overall experience. Updated and modern room. Bar in lobby closed at 11pm, so hard to sit and relax after a Sharks game. Fitness center was quite small.

Disappointed by the Hidden Cost of Parking I would not stay here again or recommend it to others. The hotel offers no onsite parking and the surrounding street parking is extremely limited—only 2 hours max during the day and no overnight parking on certain days (including the one I stayed). I was left with no real choice but to pay $53 for valet, which feels like a trap, not an option. This should have been clearly communicated upfront or built into the room rate as an amenity fee—with at least a small perk like a glass of wine or snack included. I manage a hotel in a higher-end destination, and we would never impose something like this without transparency or added value. If valet was $20, I could maybe understand. But $53 on top of a premium nightly rate, with no parking alternatives provided, is just poor hospitality. Staff were nice, and the location was convenient. Only reasons I gave 2 stars instead of 1.

Very convenient location, walking distance to San Pedro Square, downtown San Jose theaters and restaurants. They offer valet parking, which is pricey, but you can park on the street- for free (at the right time) or at the nearby parking lots, including Park SJ by San Pedro Square for a lot less. Staff is friendly and place is beautiful and updated.

The DeAnza mirrors the slide of downtown San Jose. Once billed as an “iconic boutique experience” this property is a shell of its former self. Staffing and services have been slashed. There is no restaurant or any form of food service. The once-promoted historic jazz bar had no jazz, and was totally shuttered on a Saturday night. The remaining staff are doing their best and are pleasant.

The property was clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a nice view of the city lights from our room.There are several dining options within reasonable walking distance. Otherall the hotel was very nice with a bit of an old world classic theme. Our only disappointment was that the Jazz Bar/lounge is no longer in operation. This was one of the main reasons for picking this hotel. The web site was inconsistent concerning the Jazz Bar status and we thought it was in operation ... until we arrived and were informed by the staff.

No bar or restaurant, had to wait to check in, lamps in room didn’t work, only decaf coffee, desk people not friendly.

I had the one-bedroom suite, and the room was a great space overall. The staff I came in contact with were very nice and helpful. I never went to the bar, but I wish they had a restaurant, because there really isn't much to walk to in the area. The little coffee shop that is open only till 2 pm did not have decaf coffee, and the coffee machine in the room did not work all that great. There is definitely room for improvement, but overall it was a good stay.

Great place to stay in a great location. Only downside was we were told the bar downstairs would be open; however when we came downstairs to go they said it wasn’t open.

Clean room and nice decor

OK hotel in a great location. Room was not the cleanest - fridge had a water bottle from previous guest and toilet had a black mold ring under the rim. Staff was super friendly & helpful though. Parking is valet only - $47/night.

The room was nice and clean, ample towels. There was no parking for hotel guest, and we had to pay an additional $53 for parking. There were empty bodywash container and the heating/cooling unit was very loud all night we had to turn it off.

Staff was really friendly and check in was super fast. They even offered champagne which was really nice. But….Waited about an hour to check out and get my car. The room was neat but the bathroom was not clean. There were smears all over the floor and a red substance on the bathroom door. There was something sticky on the toilet handle flush bar. The refrigerator froze all of our food. The window blinds were stuck and couldn’t open. It was ok since we were only there 2 nights but unfortunately I won’t be staying here again.

After looking at multiple different hotels, we settled with this hotel, which was not cheap for what we got. Just like others have mentioned, I was surprised to not have parking at the property. You can opt to valet for $47 or try and find parking yourself. Either way, it was inconvenient. The staff there were very friendly and professional, but the property itself was another story. The room my family and I stayed in was pretty bad. The carpets look and feel old. The windows were covered with spider webs, inside and out, the curtains were half broken, but were able to be closed with some effort. The bathroom was very dirty and dusty, broken tiles and the shower floor had a huge crack on it. It’s something you would expect at a very low budget hotel at a truck stop in the middle of nowhere. The dust was simply ridiculous. My son was sneezing so much from it. The only positives were the location’s convenience and the friendly staff. It was unfortunate that the pictures for the hotel on Expedia were deceptive. The actual hotel room did not look like the room we got. Learn from our mistake and look elsewhere.

Annoying right from the get tho. Check in not until 4 & they stick to this policy strictly. Naturally some people will arrive early so there. Will be a long time and a lobby full of people waiting. Can’t even wait at their bar because we that don’t open until 5! Missed opportunity there. Then I got to my room and although the property is decent and so is the room, it wasn’t very clean. Specially the toilet bowl. To make matters worse the AC in our room didn’t work and it got awful hot. Front desk woman had a very poor attitude about my complaint. I will say the manager was very nice & professional and was able to get us to another room. I’ve stayed at Hotel De Anza another couple times prior to this stay and had a fair experience however and unfortunately I won’t be staying again. There was too many failures and many more options nearby that will get the job done better

The location is everything! I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past 20 years to attend Sharks games. The bar is decent, but they no longer have a restaurant which is not a big deal since there are several close by. The staff is not above and beyond but they are friendly. The hotel is clean but just stays status quo as far as amenities and upgrades to rooms. Several of our lights did not work; outlets need repair, but my #1 complaint was the bed situation...the bed was hard as a rock the pillows were not comfortable so not a pleasant sleep experience. The check in, check out and valet can be long depending on when you get there; seems to be understaffed in my opinion. The price point is reasonable for the area.

Very nice room, pleasing decor and size. The primary difficulty is sleeping through all the outdoor noise! Windows and exterior walls not sound proof, I was up all night listening to car brakes, motorcycles racing by and police sirens. In August I could not get the a/c to work The thermostat was for show only. I spent a very hot night, sweating and listening to traffic.

The hotel was beautiful inside although a bit old. The biggest issue was the beds. My husband’s back was hurting for about a week after. I tossed and turned all night. It is a great location but a bed is everything and this was the most disappointing. The only way I would come back is if they changed all their beds. The mattress was hard and you could feel the springs. Reminded me of the old motel 6 beds.

Close to shops, restaurants, and bars. However, only 1 electrical outlet worked in the room. The sink faucet handle was broken. The pillows felt like balled up sheets and were smaller than my decorative pillows on my couch. Comfort is seriously lacking at this place.

Updated rooms and very clean. The bed was a little firm for my liking so I didn't sleep well. Walkable to our business the following day and great valet parking.

I love the hotel for its history. It is a nice place to stay and the staff is excellent. Very helpful and friendly. I cannot speak for all rooms, but mine was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The bed was a little firm for my liking, but that is an individual taste.

Unfortunately, the bar area that used to be a cute jazz club has now turned into a night club with house music and heavy bass. There was no notice that this would be the case, and nothing that I could find on the website or any materials that they now were a night club. Sleep was a nightmare, even on the third floor. I would not recommend staying here, and I won't stay here again.

Rooms were nicely appointed and if you like firm bed mattresses, this is perfect for you. It was like sleeping on a slab of granite. The window coverings were broken so you couldn’t operate them and when the heater went on it caused them to click repeatedly against the wall. The phone wasn’t connected, so we couldn’t call for assistance and it was too late to go downstairs again. These are one off issues and all that said, I would likely try again, the location was great.

While I was there at the front desk to check in, another lady was there trying to ask another front desk person for some info. The guy was on the phone and didn't even acknowledge her. She was there for a good 10 min and finally left. The guy was still on the phone and didn't even pause to ask what she need. To me it's unacceptable.

I arrived at 7:00 PM and found that my room, and the rooms of 6 people in front of me, were not ready and the hotel was "overbooked." There was no place to park, the front entrance was dirty - the carpet absolutely filthy. One person after the next cancelled their reservation. The poor young woman at the desk was distressed and tried to be as sweet as she could be - I felt awful for her. She had to call her manager to come in as she was alone, overwhelmed, and a victim of an awful system. Will never, ever go back. How can a chain like Hilton manage a property like this one? Worst experience ever - the town was very busy and I had to drive back to Northern California and didn't arrive home until almost midnight.

Everything was fine when we got our room…went up and a man was in the room sleeping at 3:45pm. Scared my daughter and I to death. I promptly went back downstairs to get a new room and was met with an eye roll and a “hold on”. No apology, no upgrade, just an irritation, stating “I guess we can put you in Room….” This was after a phone call to the manager. We come down to SJ often and stayed here before… this will be the last time!

The property and rooms are unique as this isn’t a chain hotel. Staff members spoke to me every time they saw me and made sure I didn’t need anything. From the valet to front desk to housekeeping.

Our stay was overall good but we did run into a couple issues. Our first room did not have working a/c and after maintenance came to check the unit he suggested we go down and request to be moved. The maintenance worker was super kind and helpful as well as the hotel staff at the front desk. We were moved to a second room but upon checking in we discovered the room was definitely not cleaned prior, we took photos of the sheets and bedding to show the front desk and they’re were very apologetic and moved us to a third room. Our final room was great. Quiet and clean. We are overall really happy to have stayed given the staff was understanding and did everything in their power to correct the mishaps. We are also aware of things like this happening as we are all human so it wasn’t a big deal to us. We were just happy to get to bed after the ordeal and a lose at the Sharks game. We would likely stay again but we’d definitely do a thorough check of our room before unpacking. Also the valet was super nice and suggested a few spots to check out murals in the area. Honestly every staff member we encountered was incredibly helpful, kind and professional. Regardless of the mishaps the staff made it worth the stay overall!

Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was very disappointing. When we arrived, the air conditioning in our room wasn’t working. Maintenance came and said it couldn’t be fixed, and the front desk would move us to a new room. After over an hour with no call and multiple failed attempts to reach the front desk (calls were either busy or disconnected), we went down ourselves. We were told the hotel was fully booked and the entire 4th floor had no AC, but other guests on that floor said theirs worked fine. We had to get ready for an event in an 82° room. They also said our air would be back on within an hour, but when we got back to our room 6 hours later, it was still 82 degrees. Later that night, we were finally assigned a new room—at nearly midnight. We had to pack and move all our things ourselves, and the new room had two double beds instead of the king we booked. Valet service was also very slow with only one attendant, and the restaurant/bar was closed on a busy Saturday. This was disappointing because we wanted to eat and have a drink before our event. The valet service claimed we would have easy access to our car, but they actually park it in the parking garage a few blocks away, which is only 20$ rather than the 53$ I was charged. I contacted the manager as promised, but received no response after multiple emails. I ended up disputing the charges. I would not stay here again.

Would love to give five stars, but they seemed understaffed for a Saturday night with a sold out show at SAP. The employees that were there were doing their best and were all very friendly. The hotel is very nice and is in a great location, we would definitely come back.

The front desk and valet were prompt and helpful. Our room was perfect.

Loved the history of the hotel. Sounds odd, but we also loved the pleasant fragrance in the lobby. The only disappointment was that there is no longer a restaurant, nor any continental breakfast. Nearby options were scarce, sketchy, or closed. :o(
