Super 8 North Red Deer

Got there and were "greeted" by messed up people in the parking lot. Went to check in and the lobby was dingy. No elevator so took a narrow staircase to the 2nd floor. Holes in hallway walls and stains on the old carpets along with reeking like cigarette. Got to the tiny room with old blankets and smelling like pee. Turned around and checked out. Staff was nice and refunded me without asking any questions. As we were leaving the staff was trying to deal with a rough looking guy on crutches who had been dropped off from who knows where. Not at all safe or clean and it was much worse than I expected even for a cheap Super 8. They likely rent these rooms by the hour.

I arrived at Super 8 and checked in and I was given a room. It was extremely noisy as there was a bar right below the room. I went back down the stairs to the front desk and said I’m sorry I can’t stay here because it is so noisy. I was then given another room that was in a different part of the hotel. I went to that room unlocked the door didn’t even go inside because the smell was awful. I then went back down and told them I was checking out. I could not stay there because of the smell in that room, the place was disgusting everywhere (stained hallway carpets, smelly) and I also didn't feel safe due to the rough-looking people hanging around the bar. So I checked out immediately and checked into another hotel right away. I do not recommend staying at this Super 8 whatsoever. I have stayed at numerous Super 8’s all over and I’ve never seen one as bad as this one. It was very trashy.

This was an awful place!!! Reservation changed 2 hours before arrival.(Booked 5 months in advance) NOT a suitable change - had to buy 2 air mattress' to stay. Kitchen lacked kitchenwares - 1 pot, 1 spoon, 1 fork, etc. Breakfast - brown bag apple, muffin and juice. Not acceptable. Gym - Underconstruction. 2 Towels - no hand or kitchen towels.The room was not clean enough by hotel standards. Dirty beds, Dirty Shower. With all this wrong a discount would have been nice. Or at least an apology for their awful conditions. Will never stay in a Super 8 again. I am so disappointed.

The guests of the bar below the hotel didn’t make me feel very safe. There was also loud music until 10pm from said bar. The room was very run down and not cleaned too well. The heater was extremely loud and woke me several times during the night. I will not be back

No parking, cops roaming the halls, came in using my walker (limited ability to walk) and the staff gave me the room farthest from the entrance on the second floor with no elevator. Didn't feel very safe. Won't stay there again.

Cheap if you want a deal…but smelled, not very clean. And no gym…says it has but not the case. Nice big fridge but wouldn’t stay again

I am 74 years old, but still fairly active. I have stayed at this hotel several times, and always ask for a ground floor room. I have never received on, so will probably stop booking at this hotel. The usual answer is that there is only a few steps. There is no elevator, so having to drag my luggage up and down two flights of stairs gets old fast. The room I got this time was a kitchen suite, which I had no use for. There was no place to hang my clothes. The balcony door did not lock properly. There were no black-out curtains, so room got quite bright in the morning. I am usually an early riser, so not a big problem. There were only two thin bath? towels. No mat for the bathroom floor. I had a shower and the floor got a little damp. I slipped on the marble? floor, but was able to catch myself. Falling is a major concern as we get older, so this was not a good experience. I accidentally forgot my iPad in my room. I check out just prior to check out time, and had things to do in the city. About 5:30 pm I couldn't find my iPad, so I phoned the hotel. Fortunately, the iPad was left at the front desk. I am glad they found it, but a timely call would have been nice. In all fairness, I know it was not a "duty" to call, but it would have been a nice touch to show they go above and beyond, so to speak. Lastly, this room was the among the cheapest I could find, but not a lot less than other hotels in the city. I guess "buyer beware" and "you get what you pay for" both apply here.

The property was not very clean or in good condition. The hallways smelled heavily of cigarette smoke, and body odor. There was limited lighting in the room and no way to lock the patio doors. The security lock was falling off the door frame and the drawers were falling apart.

Place has bed bugs and I am covered in bug bites. I have brought them home with me. So disgusting.

You get what you pay for. We’ve been in some shady motels and had no problems. But this stay? We barely even brought our stuff into the room. It was dirty, the mirror had spatter on it, I found a liquor cap on the ground and two hair ties near the bed. The bathroom was filthy too. We ended up leaving and booking elsewhere, I was scared we’d get bed bugs with how filthy the whole motel was! I’d give zero stars if I could

The room and hotel in general were so filthy. Bedding was clean so that was a plus, and for just needing a place to lay your head for a cheap price, it did the job…but ick! Lots of sketchy characters wandering inside and outside the property. Definitely would never take my kids there. But like I said, if you just need a cheap place to sleep for the night, it will do.

Room was very dirty, holes in the wall. Wallpaper ripped. Carpet looked like it hadn't been vacuumed.. Greasy handprints on the wall. Mirror had marker? On it.

We had a terrible overnight stay. The room had bed bugs, and my kids couldn’t sleep all night. We traveled all the way to Calgary to celebrate their birthday, but instead of enjoying, we had a very stressful stay. On top of that, the reception staff was unwelcoming and unhelpful when we raised our concerns. This was extremely disappointing and not what we expected at all. I would not recommend this hotel, especially for families. I

Black mold around tub, rug was sticky, it was dirty. Would not have started there in 100 years. Got a ref und, and left

Bed bugs. Unaddressed. There were reviews we didn’t notice until we checked google. Multiple rooms had them. Thankfully we got a refund. I hope they are addressing this issue as people were checking in as we checked out.

We booked a room last minute due to a good deal. They gave us a different room than booked, there were some stains/splashed something (appeared washable) on the walls, room smelled heavy of dust, and when we moved the pillows there were bed bugs. Definitely seemed not clean. The staff were helpful and understanding so they get a 5/5 star but the facility itself was yuck.

The room was filthy, the office chairs were ripped, the storm windows hadn’t been updated, had no screen and they didn’t lock. I had to find a copper pipe to put in the window to keep it secure. There was garbage in our kitchen left in the cupboards. Everything looked like it had been left the way the previous occupants had left it and that the only thing housekeeping did was make the bed. The hallways smelled stale and the carpet was warped in places causing a person to trip. Wifi worked as expected. The area around the hotel had good amenities. The waitress at Boston Pizza was lovely.

Worst hotel I have ever been in. Dirty ( Brown spot and bloodstained) everywhere: bed, doors and walls. Never been cleaned while I was there. I had to clean my own room. Door lock was broken and they never repaired it for my entire stay so my door never locked (not safe at all). I suspect bed bugs. I had to desinfect all my stuff going back home because my skin was full of bed bugs bite. Even if I was paid to stay there, I don't think I would do it. I want a refund for this horrible stay. This hotel looks like a class action lawsuit in coming.

Smoke detector was not functional, patio doors do not lock and carpets have not been vacuumed in quite some time

The room was clean. I booked a kitchenette and they have a full fridge and stove but it’s not usable without pots/pans/silverware/dinnerware. You don’t expect to have to bring your own in order to be able to make use of the kitchenette. There also wasn’t a coffee maker. They don’t even have facecloths so had to wash with a hand towel.

I found the room to be clean. Room was way too hot and dry. Temperature control doesn’t seem to work. No iron & ironing board in the room. Not a good experience.

Biggest issue no utensils or pots and pans for kitchenette. Hotel itself need some TLC , service is good and all who work there are always friendly and willing to help the best they can.

The place is generally run down. Exterior door lock is broken. Interior door doesn’t seal properly. The single round shower faucet knob is missing so you cannot control temperature. Bath tub floor is painted and peeling. My son said that the white bed sheet smells. On the bright side. It wasn’t too noisy.

The air conditioner was very loud

The rooms were dirty and very noisy. We could hear the guest in the next room snoring through the walls. The deadbolt was very hard to lock and we thought it was broken. The lobby was done very nice but as soon as you go down the hall it was dirty.

Walls were filthy, carpet dirty, toilet paper holder was falling off the wall and had a singular hand towel in the room. Staff were very pleasant when I asked for a full size towel and face cloth. There is a very rowdy bar attached to the hotel and it’s not uncommon for very intoxicated people to bang into your door while going to their own room or thinking that your room is theirs and trying to get in. I pushed through it because I was only going to be there two nights at most.That being said, the sheets and towels were clean and the bed was comfy.

The person at the front desk was very disrespectful and unprofessional. Did not give us explanations about the charges that we got and they ask for pre deposits so in the end they don’t reimburse you and charge you how much they want Very disappointed with the whole service. Will never be back

Gave my room away before i arrived...

The front desk staff are rude.

I called to let the property know that I was keeping my reservation but there would be one less adult staying in the room. They acknowledged this and promptly hung up on me. Upon arrival, my family members were told that the room had been cancelled and given away. The property was run down and filthy, with abandoned vehicles filled with garbage in the parking lot.

Friendly and welcoming staff in the reception. Good value for the money.

Had to wait for tthe room and charged $30 early check in fee.

The room was dirty, for a non smoking floor/ room everything smelt like smoke. Staff was never at the desk. Had to ask for towels as there was none

We arrived at your Hotel to find we were at the wrong one & your staff directed us to the one we were booked at witch we were thankful ! The hotel we were booked at turned out to be a disgrace & after seeing the room & how dirty it was we decided to not stay there & left ! We called your HOTEL to see if at all possible for us to get a room at such a late time & were happy to find your staff (GREAT ALL OF THEM )were great in getting us a beautiful clean & spacious room !!!! For sure we will tell any & all where to stay when going to Red Deer in the future....Thanks Again to all the STAFF for making our stay in your city pleasant !!!!

We checked out after the first night and had to find another hotel. There were homeless people everywhere and a junkie shooting up in the entrance when we arrived. The smell in the building is horrific and you could see where the room door had previously been pryed open.

We checked in and left, went to a different hotel. Room wasn’t clean and locks were not secure on doors. Did not feel comfortable having our kids in this area. Staff was nice enough.

Booked here thru Expedia and wish I read the google reviews first. Whats the saying, you get what you pay for? Well here you get less than that. We booked for $85 and when we pulled up to the hotel there was a guy getting kicked out of the attached restaurant/bar, his wife following and a drugged up girl sitting on the parking block. The hotel staff were pretty friendly however, but when we got to our room all we could smell and taste was cigarettes. The beds are terrible, they don’t have a blanket, just a top sheet and that terrible fleece blanket with two flat pillows. The nicest thing about the room was a full size fridge. We checked in and 5 min later we checked out and a hope to get a full refund from Expedia. Just a fair warning this place isn’t worth your time or safety.

Not a safe area, dirty and run down.

Pretty run down. Homeless behind the building. Smells bad. Was bitten by something. Sketchy tenants. Paper thin walls. Was cheap though and the front desk was courteous.

Finding a parking spot out front was difficult due to the bar next door. The smell of pot coming from the other rooms wasn't pleasant and the arguing from couples keeping me up. Other than that the stay was good.

There are obvious upgrades and repairs taking place throughout this property. The availability of the included bagged breakfast and morning coffee is limited up to 9am, and should at least be available up to the 11am check out.

They steam cleaned the carpets outside our room until almost 10pm. Very noisy. Not much sound barrier between rooms. No breakfast. Room was in terrible condition- bathtub had some sort of stained “sticker” on floor of tub. Stains all the way around. Would not stay here again

When I booked on Expedia it said our room was supposed to have a balcony, a seperate dining area, coffee/tea maker, queen size bed and a few other minor stuff. No balcony(hotel staff said kitchen units don\'t have balcony) no coffee tea maker no seperate area at all and the bed was so small the rails stuck out on the side. When I made the original compliant to Expedia they did amazing at trying to reach the hotel but to our amazement they were NEVER able to reach the front desk. Oh and the "free breakfast" was in a paper bag with an apple muffin and a juice box. There were even signs saying free fresh breakfast.....

Hotel was dirty. Only 2 towels. No face clothes or hand towels. No coffee in room. Breakfast consisted of a brown bag with one apple. One juice box one muffin !!!!! Not impressed but what do you get for 80.00.

I did not like the breakfast, we stayed at the super 8 in Innisfail and and it was great, at red deer horrible, an apple and juice box, plus the halls smeeld like pot. Wouldn't definitely not recommend

I lived in this property 7 days. During my stay no body cleaned the room and no body replaced bath towel in 7 days.The breakfast provided was not of good quality.

Dirty room, loud, no English spoken, rude, overall . Over priced. Box juice, apple, muffin for breakfast. Very sad

Adequate, but we found a dirty sock behind the door, maids must have missed it. No tissue in room, TV would not work. Our patio door was WIDE OPEN when we entered our room. Even the screen door was open. Good thing we were on the 2nd floor. "Continental Breakfast" was kind of a joke. A box of juice, a muffin, and an apple in a bag they hand you. Would be better if they just set these things out and let people help themselves. They have the room for this! Hallway carpets could use a VERY GOOD CLEANING! Filthy! Bed was very comfortable, AC was perfect. Good enough for a night.

Overall, 1/2 star. No TV, was told would be corrected in the morning. 2 days later, no TV - but hard to have TV when there are no connecting cables or power plug. Advertised continental breakfast was a bag grab and go. King bed- 2 pillows, two towels, no bath mat, no face clothes or hand towels. Only positive, bed was comfortable.
