Take the word "historical" seriously. This is a time capsule of simpler times so don't expect all the new-fangled hotel things or you will be disappointed. If you want a vintage experience, it doesn't get any better! The cabins are the real deal with charming quirks that made it feel like my grandmother's lake cottage. Also an aura of summer camps of days gone by. The pool is sparkling clean and the area is inviting. The cabins are grouped a little in clusters so it's perfect for families and friends to be together but have their own spaces. Cute kids playground and a firepit. It's recently under new ownership so there may be kinks, (hence the 4's- there's a lot to do, it's a large complex) But they are trying very hard and I'm sure in no time those will go to 5's too. The wi-fi is what it is for the area. My phone struggled too. I booked for one night and as soon as I checked in I wished it were two. The manager is so gracious! Planning to come back as soon as I am able, to enjoy the lodge itself and the mountain/lakes nearby for at least 2-3 nights. What a treasured find!

This was a great place. I was suprised how cool it was but when we needed the heater it worked great. I think it would have been nice to have more dishes and cooking utensils in the kitchen, because it was a full kitchen, would have been really nice. We had no paper towels, even though the holder was there with a an empty roll, and almost ran out of toilet paper, but it was comfortable and enjoyable and we would definitely come back.

It was a nice pace to stay for th money. More lights that work would have been better but all in all, it was a good experience.
