Grand Decameron Los Cabos, A Trademark All-Inclusive Resort

Staff was very unhelpful especially in the buffet restaurant. My family and i actually sat at a table and was ignored for at least 30 mins. Meanwhile people around us were being helped. I got up grabbed mugs and coffee for us. My wife had to go grab silverware and napkins for us. There were roaches outside our room, the pool on lower level was filthy. The adults pool had trash in it, and numerous missing tiles. Adult pool bar ran out of malibu within 1 hour of opening. And took about 2 hours to get a new bottle. 1st all inclusive we have been to with no food service at the pools. And if you try to get food at either of the 2 restaurants after getting out of the pools they will deny you service because you are wet.

There was no airport transfer as advertised. The food was horrible. Service was slow and unhappy. And entertainment was sparse and dull. Spa was also terrible. I wouldn't recommend this place at all, unfortunately.

The stay at this hotel was decent. The staff did their job, but only one employee made a difference and created the vibe. Enrique Rodriguez (DJ) was not only friendly, but remembered you and was very welcoming. A smile and the only employee that looked like he enjoyed his job. He definitely brought the vibe to the place. Pool area can use upgrades, tiles are old, the adult pool can use some TLC. If your looking for lively music, take your personal speaker. I do have to say overall, the facilities are decent, but there are small areas that can use upgrades that would make a great difference. The food is standard, nothing was memorable and it was very limited. There is a super market directly across the street that offers everything from cooked food to baked goods, alcohol, so if you prefer shopping and having your own items it is very convenient. As I have previously experienced with all inclusive resorts, this resort did not have pool or beachside service. We had to go to the bar to get our drinks each time. And there is not a variety of food throughout the day. The beach was nice, but the lounge chairs are there for use, it's not an area that receives service. Also, there was a bad odor, like sitting water coming from under the patio floor that can be smelled from going into the beach are to the adult pool, so the smell is not pleasant. I would hope that the hotel can make some repairs and upgrades. It's a great location and peaceful.

This property was OK but the WiFi urgently needs some renewing. Basically the whole week we were there the WiFi was only used a little bit. Don’t come here expecting to rely on the WiFi for something.

Construction was horrible around the hotel. Service was great. Good places to visit around resort. Amazing steakhouse nearby. Could use a different menu, had chicken tinga 3 days in a row. Elevator was not working and my family needed it. Staff was amazing and super friendly. Servers went beyond to please.

The staff and service was a good experience, the resort was clean. The resort is in desperate need of major maintenance, the pools need lots of tile work. To make it appealing to the eyes.

Having to go up and down the stairs was a pain !! Not having a elevator available especially for those with disabilities is terrible. Other than that I give it 3 stars

Very attentive staff and good food and nice amenities. I had a massage there that was outstanding as well. It was a very enjoyable stay.

Where do I begin! We arrived in our room to find the sink clogged and full of water! Property is very outdated until you reach the pool area, which is stunning, and the location felt safe and walkable, with ample stores and restaurants within walking distance, or short and cheap Ubers! The food was the worst part, which is why I think the all inclusive was so inexpensive! The pool restaurant staff were rude, but the buffet staff were very courteous! Overall one of my worst hotel experiences!

Clean, great staff, great location. The hotels on Costa Azul Beach discourage swimming in the ocean, which we did anyway, but i wish i knew that when booking.

Staff was courteous but not overly friendly, except for Elias our waiter in the A La Carte restaurant on two evenings. The buffet food was just ok, it’s regular buffet food but nothing special. We had a relaxing week but I wouldn’t return. There are far nicer properties for around the same amount.

Staff was extremely friendly, hotel was exceptionally clean. Housekeeper Ester was exceptionally friendly and helpful. First time in Cabo, loved the experience. Will definitely be returning.

The bed and pillows are hard and hurt our backs. The water isn’t drinkable in the resort. The pool wasn’t cleaned and smelt like poop. The food was terrible, would not suggest this to anyone!

Overall a good resort. Food is okay, staff service was excellent. The location is great if you like walking around, lots of convenience stores, spas, and ect within walking distance. Gym was good, pools were clean and not too busy. For being a lower priced resort it was good. You just got to keep that in mind when looking at amenities.

Dead cockroaches in the room that cleaning crew left for multiple days. They allow you one bottle of water per day, if you ask for it. The food was 3/10 Staff was wonderful and check in was easy, however we requested a king size and only got 2 full size beds. I might stay here again, but I doubt it.

Room was right over pool. Constant loud techno music coming from the pool bar. Asked to change rooms, and were told the only available option would also have loud music until 10pm. The balcony door would not latch or even seal. Mosquitos were coming in through the gap. Room was dirty. Visible grime on the bedside lamp. Dead mosquitos smashed on wall and in soap dish. Also bed had the hardest mattress I’ve ever felt. We checked out 2 hours after arriving, and went to another resort. So glad we made the change. Staff was nice at least.

The beds are super hard, gave my husband and I back pain. The hospitality is not the greatest but some of the workers were great! I will not be back.

I like that the hotel is right on the beach and the landscaping is beautiful. It is an older resort,drains are clogged and some areas look dated. Staff was hit or miss, some friendly, some not so much. Food was just ok. Only two restaurants and drinks are nothing memorable. Overall, I don't think I'll be back to this one.

Super loud and noisy when staff pushed carts and bins by early in the morning and late at night. The resort needs major work and upgrades. Trip hazards everywhere. You can only book two dinner reservations at their one exclusive restaurant even though the resort was not at full capacity. Buffet was hit or miss. We went out into town for meals three out of our seven days. Staff was also hit or miss. Some were super friendly and helpful. Others were tired and grumpy. No late check-out allowed. We sat in the lobby waiting for our ride to the airport for over an hour. They offered drinks to guests arriving but if you are leaving, don't expect a final drink or any hospitality. That's a shame because that's the last chance to leave an impression on the guest's experience.

If catering to tourists i would think there should be a few more people that can communicate in English. The receptionists were not able to help with Wifi or transportation. Security really needs to be more available to the clients.There was a incident where a man came chasing 2 young females from another area and got all the way to the pool and was trying to talk to them in Spanish but they spoke English and didn't understand him, they were very scared. When it comes to the food the breakfast pancakes were hard and eggs cold, no bacon or sausage, lunches are basic no flavor, dinner was the same -salt & pepper would of been great. Basic inside dining meals were air-conditioned and the special dining outside next to pool, never sure when they were open but really humid to eat outside. Waiter and bartender were great. Pool bartender would never have ingredients to make drinks on the drink card menu. Entertainment and games were mostly in Spanish, including bingo and karaoke. Room were clean but really tiny. Ubers were great and quick.

I would avoid the Decameron. I booked through Hotels.com as did 6 other friends. They did not have check in issues, but I did. This is the second time a hotel I booked through hotels.com could not find my reservation when I arrived at the hotel. It took them 3 hours to discuss this with hotels.com and they said they had found the reservation after we sat in the lobby unable to have access to the room I paid for, go to the bar, or refresh after a long travel day. This seriously cut into the day we were hoping to have. They finally said they found it but there was a modification which caused it to somehow get lost, although I did not modify. After all this debacle we finally got access to our room. We had asked to be close to the rooms of our other friends when we booked but this was by availability so after all this it did not happen. The signage in the hotel is not clear so rooms are difficult to find. Our shower was not draining so flooded out into the main bathroom area until it got to the second drain. We were out and they sent security to find us to put a new card on file, even after wasting 3 hours of our day while they sorted my check in, and giving them a card to make a small eco charge onto. They then had security walk me to my room to get my card for them to charge like I was going to try to avoid paying for the hotel, which is ridiculous. I had even shown them my receipt and payment through hotels.com at the time of check in but they noted it was not on file.

Service was incredible! Yes, it’s an older resort and dining choices are limited; however, the location is incredible as is the service.

Customer service/ was not great when ordering drinks from male bartender at main pool kids area Customer service was excellent at adult swimming pool and housekeeping. Customer service was excellent in buffet servers. I definitely gave the staff tips.

My sister and I had a great time staying here. It was my sister’s first all inclusive. The staff were all so friendly and provided amazing service. I love that there’s a little shopping center across the street. And we felt so safe staying there.

Staffs are not cooperative. Took an hr to get a check in and bar tender are not enjoying their job. They are not smiling at all.

We had a great time at the Decameron! The staff were the best aspect of the trip. All very kind, with fast and friendly service! Rooms and pools were clean, food and drinks were readily avaliable all day and night in one or more areas. The food was very good, but nothing was particularly amazing. But we were very happy with everything, especially considering the price! Also, we read a few negative reviews on Decameron before booking about language barriers with the staff. This was not our experience at all. I speak a little Spanish and my wife speaks very little (just a few words and phrases), but we found the staff very patient and helpful when we wanted to learn and practice. Also, they all spoke English to some degree and many of the staff spoke 4 or 5 different languages. Anyone who didn't appreciate the staff at this resort was at the wrong resort! Thanks for a wonderful, relaxing time!

Great experience at Decameron. Stayed for 5 nights no issues at all, all friendly. Surrounding area is very quiet and peaceful. Just note beach is not swimmable due to high waves.

Good value for the money! San Jose area is a 30 min taxi or bus ride from Cabo San Lucas, so realize the distance between. We were surprised by the downtown San Jose area, really enjoyed exploring there, good nightlife. The hotel is very clean, love the "room to pool to beach" easy access. Try to book an ocean view room. The buffet has little variety. Very clean, staff very friendly!

Nothing special, but just enough for a quick all inclusive trip. Conveniently close to the airport & shopping. Beach was rough, but a short Uber to Cabo San Lucas was nice for about $25.

Great place away from the crowds of down town. Watched the whales from the adult area deck. Very nice place, would definitely book here again.

My stay at Decameron in San Jose was very relaxing. The staff was very accommodating. The property had a lot of character and the room was clean. The location is right on the water, across the street from convenience stores, and walking distance to a supermarket. Downtown San Jose feels very cozy and the drive to San Lucas is gorgeous. Thank you everyone at the Decameron, especially Cruz, who is very welcoming on my arrival and sincere upon my departure.

Although this isn’t one of the more luxurious hotels in the zone, the property is well maintained, clean, and in a great location(beach adjacent). The staff is helpful and friendly from providing information to offering assistance whenever necessary. My travel partner and I also enjoyed the entertainment and activities that are presented for all guests to enjoy. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a more relaxed environment, but still within proximity to other lively areas.

Food onsite was mostly inedible. The bars were never stocked with fresh fruit for drinks and most ran out of one item or another. Bartenders were mostly rude. Two outstanding staff members Martin (waiter) & Roger (Entertainment). The price was right, so we didn't mind dining in town. The entire resort is in major need of repair.

The food is very bad. We had hope that the food options would get better, it seemed like they used all the left overs the next day and just slapped a new name on it. just got worse. Only one restaurant and a buffet. The only good thing about this resort was the AC in the rooms. Staff is nice and they try to make fun activities. We made the best of our trip but we will not come back. Pay the extra money to go somewhere else.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this resort! We loved that it was right on the beach, and had lots of stores and coffee shops within walking distance. The property is beautiful. Our only major complaint was that the food was often cold at the buffet, especially towards the end of our trip. The food was decent, but eating cold food (that should be warm) was definitely a big concern for us.

The stay would’ve been perfect if the food was a little bit more better. The staff was amazing and was always helpful. The pool water was warm, not sure if this is how it was supposed to be and the pool was a bit dirty on the floor. The drinks seemed to be a bit watered down, but that just made us drink more. Overall it was a good stay. Very family oriented.

The pool wasn't super busy (you could get a lounger and there weren't too many of those lounge lizards reserving them at 7am). Some staff went above and beyond to make the stay memorable - Cruz, one of the servers at the snack bar during the day and the adult only pool bartender were ones who stood out! The food was OK. A bit limited in selection (especially protein) - breakfast was probably the most stand out meal. The service in the buffet was a bit slow - it seemed like there was only one server so it took a while to get coffee or juice. Even though it was a family resort, it didn't feel like it was too chaotic with kids which was really great (as a child-free group traveling who wanted to relax!)

The resort and the staff are amazing, always smiling and helpful. The only negative was the food and drinks. Only 1 restaurant open when we went so by the end of the week was getting a little boring. The drinks tasted watered down, like they do at most all inclusive resorts. Overall was a great experience and we will be back.
