I cannot praise Abraham at the front desk enough for making my check-in experience so welcoming. I was however very dissatisfied with the comfort of my bed. For the price I paid for 1 night (over $600) I did not feel as though I got the true value for which I had paid for.

Stayed 6 nights

We were initially impressed by the colorful decor and imaginative playing-card room key, but the experience quickly became disappointing. The first room’s layout was very impractical — we had to walk past the sinks, toilet, and shower before reaching the bedroom. We had booked for 3 adults with 2 queen beds, but were later told the beds were actually smaller “full” beds. The room itself was also extremely cramped, with barely enough space for luggage. The bathroom design made little sense: only the middle mirror had lighting, but it was the only one without a sink underneath. The two mirrors above the sinks had no lighting, making shaving and grooming awkward. There was also only 1 hook each on the shower and toilet doors, leaving inadequate space for towels or clothes.Since we were staying 6 nights, this setup felt untenable. After discussing the issues, manager Abraham kindly upgraded us to a larger suite, which was a major improvement. KJ/Karma from the bell staff was also excellent. The upgraded suite was more comfortable but still had issues: only 1 large coffee cup and 1 espresso cup were provided, the sliding bathroom door scraped the floor, the top cupboard shelf was dusty enough to dirty clothes, and the bathroom sink remained clogged for 5 nights despite being reported. The elevators were another frustration — despite 6 lifts, we often had to wait through several full ones before finding space.

Stayed 3 nights

The Virgin Hotel New York was pretty good. This was my second stay in the hotel. My first stay was three years ago when the hotel first opened. The room was certainly showing the wear of heavy use. Clogged drain, loose fixtures and door handles, but otherwise clean and comfortable. The location of the property is great. Located in NoMad you're a short walk to Madison Park or Times Square or several Subway options too. It's also about a five minute walk to Penn station for easy access to Newark Airport or long distance trains. Location is one of the main reasons I like this hotel. I did bring the slow shower drain to the attention of the front desk and it took to days for them to address and fix. So that left me with two days of standing in shower filth, For the price of this hotel, this isn't something I should have to deal with. I'm also vehemently opposed to resort fees in hotels, particularly when the amenities they claim to be for are either not used by me or not available to me. For example, the pool doesn't open until May 15th. This was too bad. But really, just include this fee in the price of the room. Resort fees are truly obnoxious. They're the baggage fees of the hotel world. Ultimately, I would stay at this property again, but they need to keep a closer eye on the smaller details because this hotel is charging the prices of a 4+ star hotel, but the rooms are headed toward 3 star level.

Amazing staff! Everyone we dealt with went above and beyond to ensure our stay was pleasant. Great location in midtown. Easy walk to subway. Will stay again!
