Absolutely beautiful lodging, and was incredibly convenient to navigate the property. Delicious breakfast and accommodations, we thoroughly enjoyed the night. Fox pub. Delicious drinks. The night fox pub itself is very small so get there early if you want to see at the bar!

The hotel did not inform me properly that the dining room at the restaurant would be closed for dinner and breakfast during my stay. When I complained to the reservations staff about this, they were completely unapologetic, claiming that a text on the day of my arrival was sufficient and that the hotel and restaurtant were completely separate. I was very disappointed -- especailly having been best man at a wedding reception held at the hotel some years ago. I don't intend to go back. I am 81 years old and have travelled extensively throughout the world. This is among the worst experiences I have had.

Very friendly service! Great location. Nice that they have a happy hour for guests. The restaurant is delicious! Rooms are a little worn, the towel quality is terrible, and the heating system blasts heat then shuts off so it’s very inconsistent in terms of temperature.

I can't wait to get back to the Red Fox Inn with my husband for a romantic weekend! I booked just one night as I was traveling for work this time. The Inn is historic and quaint, and in the best location. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. The food at the pub was delicious too. The location couldn't be better and the off street parking was a plus!

We've stayed at the Inn several times in the past and we keep coming back because we consider it our getaway place. Our only ding is that the restaurant wasn't open during our visit. We were told that the restaurant is closed 2x per year for maintenance updates. That's a good reason and we understand. The staff were very good to us and the morning breakfast brought to our room was tasty, filling, and very much appreciated.

The staff was so nice! The food in the pub was amazing. They took the best care of us - small stuff like I’ve already in the ice bucket and welcome cookies. Breakfast and coffee delivered to the room was delicious and included! We will be back again. The hotel is old - some creaky stairs but it has all the Virginia charm and is immaculately maintained. Bed was super comfy and strong air conditioning even though we were on the top floor (which I worry about in older buildings). The room was nicer than the photos and I don’t think I’ve ever been able to say that.

The service and attitude of Heather was the biggest plus. I thought there should have been a little reduction in price because of the lack of the Red Fox dinner and bar availability, so we didn't get the full Red Fox experiance. We stayed in #30 on August 1 and 2, and the bathroom sink could not have been any slower draining. That needs to be snaked or something.

Property was great and everyone is very nice, but room was extremely hot at night, even with all windows left open, and no hot water for a post-dinner shower. Wish those wouldn't have been issues, bc otherwise this has all the makings of a 5-star experience.

Check in was delayed, because the clerk didn’t send the email. The room was very cold and then when we asked for heat ( during a snow storm) it became extremely hot and then the clerk/ attendant had left for the night. The shower did not get warm. Stated cold!!! Was told there was an event that evening and that sometimes occurs when there are several people showering at same time…

Excellent location, great service, friendly staff. The property itself is a historic building and it has been perfectly maintained. It feels like you are tracking back in time. Stay away from the Old Dominion room if you are taller than 5’8”. I also did not care much for the breakfast boxes.

We have long wanted to stay at the historic red fox inn. As nearby residents we visited several times for brunch and or dinner. In the past we also toured the art gallery the opportunity finally came for us to stay and it was perfect! The rooms comfortable with amenities. Breakfast each morning was delicious. The service was over the top accommodating and friendly.

Staff is lovely. We stayed in the Shenandoah suite. It’s a very private tucked away room with a little patio which is why I picked it. Be aware, though, if you choose it that there are two rather large steps down to go into the bathroom! We enjoyed the breakfast that was delivered to the room immensely. Overall, quite a nice stay in a beautiful, historic inn.

We had a lovely stay at the Red Fox....beautifully kept surroundings. A great dinner though their wines are very high priced. I suggest there might be some middle of the road selections that will appeal to all travellers. Breakfast, served in our suite was fine, though the quiche was extremely salty.

Incredibly comfortable, luxury cottage. Warm, welcoming, and very helpful staff. Breakfast was delicious, and I loved getting sent to the cottage. Best coffee I’ve had in a long time. The food at the pub was delicious. Only negative comment is that the service at the pub could have been a lot better. Can’t wait to stay here again.
