Lovely hotel - very cosy and festive over the New Year period. Pretty gardens with a river running at the bottom. Slightly disappointed not to have had a dog bed or any bowls considering the additional dog charge. There was some confusion with the level of service between the restaurant and the hotel which left us waiting for our meal alone in the bar area. However, staff were very friendly.

I am full of praise for The Peacock Hotel. We received a warm welcome on arrival, and the staff were helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Our room was comfortable and well-equipped, with a lovely view over the garden. Our evening meal in the restaurant was outstanding - delicious, high quality, creative and beautifully presented food- all served by a great team of staff in a relaxing atmosphere. Amazing! We were initially put in Room 3 which we found a little disappointing for what we had paid. We asked for Room 5 (our very favourite room) and we were delighted to change rooms (although slightly confused why we hadn’t been offered that one first?). Room 5 was stunning and impeccably clean and inviting, although very ( a little too) warm on arrival Our bar meal was excellent, the bar manager was wonderful and kept the real fire stoked all evening which enhanced the cosy pub experience. Breakfast was amazing and the staff as always were exceptional. The homemade shortbread biscuits which we enjoyed with coffee in our room were truly delicious. We live less than half an hour away and this has become our once yearly treat. A truly fabulous country hotel with excellent food and impeccable service. Thanks all!

The hotel staff were all well trained but friendly and helpful at the same time. Food and wine were excellent and the atmosphere at the Peacock was calm and serene with a comfy feel about the place. Felt very welcoming and the car park was not too far away for all our luggage! Had a lovely stay and all was as it should be and more.

This is a lovely little hotel. The staff were more than accommodating. However the entrance to the hotel was very disappointing as we’re the grounds. It just needed a good old tidy up and weeded. Such a shame. The breakfast was excellent as was the bar good but the bar menu was very limited and felt like an afterthought to the rather expensive restaurant options.

Our stay here was absolutely fabulous from start to finish. The entire hotel and its grounds are gorgeous — every room is beautifully decorated, from their library sitting room to the onsite bar to each guest room. There were so many beautiful touches: classical music playing in the room when we entered, chocolates on the table, bath salts in the lovely modern bathroom, etc. The bed was extremely comfortable. Service was impeccable; you can sit and relax in the garden or study and someone will come check on you, take a drink order, etc. I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a beautiful, luxurious stay in the Peak District.

Hotel also provides fly fishing in season, so will return for this, as perfect by the River Derwent.

The room was quiet and cozy making us feel like we were really on vacation. The beds were the comfiest we experienced on our 6-day roadtrip. My only disappointments were that they charged for the paper in the morning but there was no mention of the charge when I ordered it the night before (I guess I'm living in a bygone era in my mind when papers were given freely), and my poached eggs on toast came out on burnt toast and the yolks were almost hard (not at all runny). Otherwise, it was a great stay.

Very comfortable bed and helpful staff. Antique furniture in the room might be nice to look at but it’s not always comfortable to use. Would’ve been nice if there had been a couple of comfortable chairs in the room. Also, having only a small cafetière in the room means that it has to be cleaned out after each use. That includes disposing of coffee grinds. Where do you put them?

A pleasant enough place and very comfortable - but all a little overpriced for what it was considering there are no facilities such as spa or pool. £82 for three courses at dinner felt very steep albeit the food was very good. A hassle having to call reception for milk. Most irritating is that the website and leaflets say they offer discounts for Haddon hall, but when we asked they said they claimed no knowledge of this and said they no longer do them. But the staff were all very nice and the service was pretty good. The location is also great.

Our stay here was absolutely fabulous from start to finish. The entire hotel and its grounds are gorgeous — every room is beautifully decorated, from their library sitting room to the onsite bar to each guest room. There were so many beautiful touches: classical music playing in the room when we entered, chocolates on the table, bath salts in the lovely modern bathroom, etc. The bed was extremely comfortable. Service was impeccable; you can sit and relax in the garden or study and someone will come check on you, take a drink order, etc. I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a beautiful, luxurious stay in the Peak District.

Lovely historic property, a very quiet and pleasant stay. Dog was allowed in our room only, not to eat. Very comfortable bed and warm room. No fridge in the room, but had tea and coffee facilities, you had to ask daily for milk. Close to plenty of sightseeing and rambling. Hotel also provides fly fishing in season, so will return for this, as perfect by the River Derwent.

The room was quiet and cozy making us feel like we were really on vacation. The beds were the comfiest we experienced on our 6-day roadtrip. My only disappointments were that they charged for the paper in the morning but there was no mention of the charge when I ordered it the night before (I guess I'm living in a bygone era in my mind when papers were given freely), and my poached eggs on toast came out on burnt toast and the yolks were almost hard (not at all runny). Otherwise, it was a great stay.
