Wingate by Wyndham Long Island City

The property was new and clean. The area wasn’t that great with a lot of construction happening in the area. It was close to trains and affordable. The main thing was that the elevators kept breaking. Only one was in service so it would take a long time to come and go. One day both elevators were broken and we had to take the stairs to the 9th floor. Can’t imagine for those on higher floors or if anyone had a disability or had to carry luggage. You could feel the energy of everyone also being bothered by this inconvenience.

Nice stay......disappointed there were no valet and no parking......had to drive around trying to find a parking spot.. 3 blocks away

I had an excellent stay here. [Check-in] Melaine at the front desk was incredibly patient with my requests, and thanks to her I was able to enjoy a very comfortable five days. [Room] The room was quiet, had a nice view, and most importantly, was spacious and kept very clean. [Breakfast] Complimentary breakfast is provided. There’s toast, waffles, bagels, eggs, sausage for protein, several types of fruit juice, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, and fresh fruit. For the price and space, it’s clear they’re making the best effort to provide a great experience. A special mention goes to Elder, who was constantly moving around to keep everything refilled and available. His work was truly outstanding. [Other] The gym was also very convenient with cardio machines, dumbbells, and cables. Coffee, cold water, and hot water are available 24 hours. Thank you for an incredibly pleasant five days!

Having only 1 working elevator was very inconvenience.

For the price, this hotel is the best you can get. Friendly staff, active house keeping, decent breakfast, smooth and clean elevator, nice and fresh smelling lobby, clean room, clean sheets, and a working AC. You have a very short walk to the 21 Queensbridge Subway station which can take you to Times Square in 20 mins and back in similar time. The gym is okay and no swimming pool. The surrounding environment looks like any low income area but there’s police around always. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and this hotel is my new NYC plug for short stays.

Only stay here if don't need to worry about parking a car and you are ok not being out when dark. Only 1 elevator worked and then the 1 operating one broke so i had to go up and down 11 floors via stairs. Same breakfast all 6 mornings. Staff waa nice and so was room.

Good: Front desk staff was very pleasant, friendly, and helpful and let us check in a couple hours early which was great! The rooms were clean and a decent size. The light breakfast fare was nice. Bad: The little reading lights next to our beds were wobbly and loose, and the lightbulb and housing of one of them actually detached from the stem while I was adjusting the light for reading. There are only 7 or 8 parking spaces in front of the hotel for 144 rooms. Ugly: Having to find street parking was made worse by the tremendously sketchy area surrounding the hotel. It took over half an hour to find a parking spot when we returned at 9:30pm. There are MANY homeless and clearly drunk or stoned people hanging out on the sidewalks at 10pm. I suppose the 20 or so police officers we saw constantly patrolling the 2- or 3-square block area around the hotel should have made us feel safer, but it didn’t. An hour after we returned from parking that first night, we heard (from our 5th-floor rooms) two cops trying to calm down a very loud man shouting and making aggressive gestures towards them. One of the cops had their hand on a taser or gun as the other cop kept trying to de-escalate the situation. This was literally outside the front entrance of the hotel and lasted more than 30 minutes. Thankfully no one was hurt, but what if we had returned an hour later that night? That would’ve been happening just as we got back.

The hotel itself was very nice, modern, and clean. The beds were very comfortable. They provided complimentary breakfast from 6:30 to 10am. The parking is very limited, I believe that I counted about 8, maybe 9, parking spots - after those are taken then you need to use street parking. The surrounding area is near some NYCHA housing projects, as well as some homeless shelters - so, some of the people you will see in the streets can look a little‘sketchy’. I did, however, see a police presence. Overall, I had a really comfortable and good experience.

Hotel is clean and ok. This is fine place to stay for a single night. Closest guaranteed parking is a 14 minute walk on the streets. Hotel does have limited parking if your lucky. Breakfast in the morning is good. No close walk for a good dinner.

Stayed at this hotel this past weekend. If you’re simply just looking for somewhere to rest your head and plan on being out for most of your stay in the city then this could work for you. The front desk staff was nice and the close proximity to the subway station was convenient. However, upon arrival we realized our bathroom hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned as there were long hairs in the shower. After showering and using the sink several times, the water coming out was giving off the most PUTRID smell I have ever experienced from a plumbing system. The smell was so bad it was filling the entire room making it hard to get rid of it. Their ice machine wasn’t functioning at one point and we were told we would be notified when it was up and running and we never were. The wifi also was hit or miss as well. Won’t be booking here again.

We enjoyed our stay. Jose checked us in. He was great. Front desk staff should be trained or at least be knowledgeable about how the safe works. Telling a guest to wait on the engineer that arrives at 12 when you are on a tight itinerary just doesn't seem logical. The battery was low after we used the safe and we couldn’t reopen it. After reading the information and learning to use it, I spoke to the lady at registration hoping it would help the next person. It seemed to fall on deaf ears. It would take 30 seconds to explain over the phone, had she known how to do it. This is a very important feature when out of town guests come and do not want to carry their whole wallet while walking around a new area. Parking took us an hour to find a place that was free and not 2 miles away from the hotel. They do have paid spots. 2 of those spots are handicap spots. They rent those as well. They cannot be used if you have a tag or placard, I asked. I didn't remove any stars for parking, as I knew it may be a walk before staying there. The room was nice. The floor could have been cleaner. We moved a trash can, and it was nasty under it. Dirt, food crumbs and something had been spilt. The bed was great and the pillows were amazing. Breakfast was good. Eggs, fruit, oatmeal packs, beagles, yogurt, granola, cereal, coffee, juice, water, milk, and hot chocolate. There wasn't always a meat option but we had turkey sausage and sausage links. We would stay again but rethink parking.

The biggest advantage of this hotel is its easy access to public transportation—both the bus and subway stations are just around the corner and can take you quickly anywhere in the city. The front desk is wonderful: very friendly, welcoming, and eager to help with anything you need. In fact, all the staff give off a “we care” vibe, making the stay feel warm and supported. The complimentary breakfast runs until 10:00 AM and is impressive for a free offering. It includes hot meals, veggie options, sausage, eggs, toast, yogurt, and fresh fruit salad, all of good quality. There’s also free water, coffee, and hot water available in the lobby, which is a nice touch. The hotel itself is new, very clean, and well maintained. While the area might not be the absolute safest, I didn’t feel unsafe even when walking from the subway station to the hotel at midnight.

Clean and comfort with nice touch of hospitality. We were impressed and appreciated the room cleaning lady kept our room cleaned with nice touch by organizing my kido bed with their beanie friends. Front desk reps are friendly and supportive. They helped us to set up taxi drive to airport with a flat rate which cheaper than Uber. The bed and bath are modern and simple design with great comforts. Location is 6min walking distance for MAT subway station. Will stay again next trip.

It is a modern hotel in a very good condition. The room was bright and modern. The cleaning staff is doing a great job every day. The service staff by the front desk is friendly and helpful. At breakfast, glasses, plates and cutlery are replaced by disposables. You can go by metro to Rockefeller Center or Bryant Park in about 20 minutes. The area around the hotel is a bit rough and worn.

The area around the hotel is not great, but it's a very short walk from the hotel to the subway so it is really not that big of a deal EVERYTHING about the hotel itself was excellent- The staff , the front desk , the availability of supplies such as towels , tissue, The cleanliness TOP NOTCH The welcoming attitude of those working the front desk TOP NOTCH I SAVED BIG TIME when compared to my usual Manhattan hotels I stay at I WILL BE BACK WITHOUT A DOUBT!!!

We stayed here only for one night. The hotel is centrally located to public transportation. It has all the appropriate amenities such as, gym, free breakfast, toiletries, iron/board, hair dryer, and limited parking (for a fee $30). The breakfast was simple, yet good. It consisted of bread, bagels, scrambled eggs, sausage links, patties, tomatoes, cucumber, yogurt, coffee, tea, and natural juices. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, but very noisy. It was listed as soundproof, but we heard every single car that went by as well as foot traffic and loud talking from other patrons in the hotel. My husband had work the next morning, and we barely got any sleep. I would consider staying here again because of the price, cleanliness of the hotel, and it's location to public transportation if you want to get around Queens or Manhattan, I just wouldn't stay here on a night when I have work the next day.

Great stay for the price. It’s a 10-15 minute subway ride into midtown and the two double bed room on the 14th floor is spacious enough for 4 people (2 teens, 2 adults). The view I to the city is beautiful from this room. Breakfast is decent but they don’t vary the food offerings. It’s scrambled eggs with either turkey sausage patties or pork sausage links, and breads, cereal and yogurt every day. We stayed 5 nights and after the third breakfast, we were ready for something different so we went to a local bodega for a delicious hot breakfast. The front desk was very courteous and responsive to our requests. They held our luggage after check out while we went out for a few hours before our late flight.

The staff was amazing and helpful very friendly room was very clean , smelled very clean too, however they say the offer premium channels when I got there the remote didn’t work nor did the channels they gave me a new remote but when asked why don’t they have it they said “ we can’t afford to put it in all the rooms” smh why offer then ? But heads up to bring you’re own entertainment tvs accept HDMI cords unless you like the news channels or Nickelodeon that’s all they offer. The Neighborhood if you’re from ny it’s normal to walk around and see the Nycha projects with locals but if you’re a visitor you may feel very uneasy and uncomfortable walking around at night cause of the crowds of people in front of local businesses/shops they usually are harmless but just stay vigilant.

There was no TV service, and there was no hot water. It was warm - at best.

Staff was very nice, hotel is beautiful, I liked the entire stay. It is not located in Manhattan, but very close to it and the view from the room was amazing (we had the Manhattan view). We could quickly walk to subway F which took us all the way down to Coney Island through Manhattan, touching almost all the main attractions, so we used that every day.

Easily the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept on. I usually have trouble falling asleep at hotels and will wake up a bit achey, but that didn't happen here and I was pleasantly surprised. I'll be adding Wingate by Wyndham hotels to my short list of hotels I love staying at when I travel. The rooms were clean and the fact that this is a new construction/building made the stay even more comfortable. This hotel is also pet friendly (for pets under 25 lbs), which was perfect since our pet sitting arrangements fell through last minute. Thank you for a great stay!

The hotel was quite nice . We got two rooms . The standard room was closterphobic feeling to me from how small it was. I have had bedrooms that were bigger than that entire room we th the bathroom included in the room. So we wanted to upgrade to anything else that was bigger in size even if that meant upgrading to a suite which would have resulted in having to pay a much bigger amount and we have already paid 149 for the small closet that was the room we were already in plus a hundred dollar deposit. So j asked the front desk 1st but I was told they had absolutely nothing available. So I went back on Expedia , which is where I booked my room initially and they had a few double rooms to choice from. And one suite room left. So for 300.00 dollars more we opted for that room. Now when I went to check into that room f with the front desk I thought maybe they would of done something like minus the difference from the 149 plus 100 deposit we had already paid from. The now 420.00 we paid for the suite. But no they didn't. And they even charged another 100 deposit for the suite in stead of just switching it over from the standard room we literally were only checked into for 20 mins total. So a total of 900.00 spent for an overnight stay at this hotel was not at worth it for the that amount spent. But other than that that we enjoyed our stay.

I reserved the room four relatives. They were disappointed on several key items: 1. Wifi was too slow. They had to use their mobil data plan to go online. 2. The television only had three or four stations to watch. 3. There wasn't a microwave in the room. They had to go to the dining area to warm up food. 4. The two beds in the room were only full size beds. Most other hotels have either queen or king size beds. 5. The free breakfast wasn't that good. They went outside to get breakfast. I don't plan to book this hotel again.

Room was clean and well designed but outlets didn't all work. Hotel staff was very friendly and professional. Heating/AC/fan unit in room was very noisy. Area near the hotel was noisy and dirty.

The hot water supply is VERY unstable, I had hot water when I entered the room but when I wanted to take shower at late night, there is no hot water AT ALL! The water coming out was totally cold. Not a great experience.

The staff is outrageous. I had the best check-in experience EVER. I travel a lot worldwide, and I have never had a so pleasant experience. The hotel area may appear a little weird at first sight, but it is convenient. It is a residential area with a few businesses around. It is less than a five-minute walk to the Queensbridge F subway line, which is ultra-convenient—10 minutes to Rockefeller Center or Bryant Park. I would return to this hotel.

The staff was amazing

Hotel check in staff not accommodating to guests. Denied request for early check-in, citing hotel policy. Since I was staying for 4 nights, after first night, requested to shift to another room (better view, less noise). Was told hotel has few rooms on that side and to check daily after checkout time for availability. After two days of checking, just gave up. Hotel apparently has no knowledge of availability of specific rooms ahead of time. Given my repeated requests, expected a more helpful attitude.

The hotel was great and conveniently located just a few blocks from the subway. Melanie was amazing throughout our stay as she was so helpful. We checked in at 8am and asked if there was a room available even though we knew check-in would be in the afternoon. Although there wasn’t one available, Melanie suggested that we eat breakfast which the buffet was served at that time. It was perfect as we just arrived in NYC from a red-eye flight. The only thing that can be improved is the selection at the buffet. Other than that, everything was good. I would rebook the next time my family and I come back to visit NYC.

The staff deserves more than 5 stars. They were very helpful communication was very open and was there whenever needed at anytime. Iwould definitely recommend this location.

I was very happy stay this property but bit disappointed with Receptionist with straight long hair should be trained better..unfriendly . Not show her hospitality!!!! Breakfsast was good, the young man who incharge breakfast cleaning dining area n quick reffil. He is even very warm and friendy then the girl long hair in receptionist.

The receptionist on July 13 in the morning was extraordinarily rude. Sge aounded very cold and dismissive when I called from the airport asking for directions to the hotel. The receptionist on July 17 morning seemed the same and was busy on the phone when I asked him for check out. Very limited breakfast items and the area is really run down and unsafe. The only saving grace was housekeeping who were exceptionally good.

Very friendly welcome and great staff all around! When I return for business next month I will stay at this property, without question.

Hotel is ideally located; close to subway station, few stops from La Guardia (connector bus) and 2 stops from mid Manhattan. Clean hotel and nice breakfast included. Neighborhood is bit grungy but felt safe. Overall good value.

I appreciate the proximity to the F train. It is somewhat amusing the very near proximity of this kinda nice hotel to the rundown Queensbridge projects, but I used to live in this neighborhood and have no problems there. I’d stay again.

Property was really nice! Breakfast was good enough! The neighborhood nearby is sketchy, but Subway station to Manhattan was just a few minute walk. I would walk to subway during the day... not at night. Take Uber at night for 9 or 10 bucks.

Economical, though substantially more expensive than last year. Reasonable walk from underground, though the escalator there wasn't working (hardly the hotel's fault!). surrounding area a bit scary, with strong police presence.

Hotel building is new and very clean, elevators very fast, staff is good. Breakfast area is clean, mostly crowded and average. wi-fi signal is pretty bad. Hotel's location is very bad, dangerous neighborhood. But after all, I can stay again and recommend it.

good stay to visit NYC some nights 2-3 out of 7 nights there was noise from the street of music all night. the breakfast was good but there was almost no space to sit.

It was ok - the room was fine but I didn’t like that. There was no restaurant on the premises. The only meal they serve is breakfast. And the neighborhood that the hotel is in is a terrible neighborhood. There is nowhere to walk to to get food. You have to Uber everywhere because it’s a dangerous area. So I wasn’t very happy with that
