The property and Inn were lovely and I can’t say enough about the staff that were very accommodating. The shuttle to the beach was a great feature, as well as the provided towels, chairs, and water. The fact that the mini split didn’t work for two nights in our room was tough. They did try to correct the problem but we really didn’t have air until an air conditioner was installed on our third night. A continental breakfast was served but maybe they needed another sterno or serve strictly cold items. The muffins were delicious!! We totally enjoyed our dinner at the Inn.

The Shelter Harbor Inn is such a gem. Great location, quaint and beautifully decorated with beautiful grounds to relax and enjoy a cocktail in a rocking chair, the patio with family/ friends or even a firepit. Shuttle to local beach. Self serve farmhouse breakfast was all you need to start the day! Highly recommend and close to beautiful areas such as Narragansett.

We loved our stay at the Shelter Harbor Inn and will visit again. Our room was comfortable and spacious. The grounds are very pretty. The staff was wonderful and genuine. We ate dinner at the restaurant two nights of our 4 night stay and both meals were wonderful. There is a shuttle to one of the prettiest and quietest beaches we have ever been on and we are beach lovers. Our only suggestions for improvement would be an upgrade to the continental breakfast which was lacking and it would be lovely if they offered wine and beer for sale on the nights the restaurant is not open. Overall a wonderful stay and a good value for a September stay near the coast.

Very pretty grounds and building. Comfortable and clean. Great location to visit East Beach and Watch Hill. Unfortunately restaurant is closed Mondays and Tuesdays so can not rate. There was a tavern 2 min. down the road so that wasn't a big deal. The continental breakfast was nice to have to start the day. The staff was great! The room was lovely, comfortable, and clean. The continental breakfast had more choices than we expected, everything was delicious, and Mark was very nice and helpful! The private beach was wonderful. It was beautiful, not very crowded, and had a lifeguard on duty. We will definitely stay there again!

quait, quite, comfy. unfortunately booked Monday/Tuesday, so Dining not an option. Mix up on spa for facial, also, where my wife waiting for attendant so never came. 35th anniversary reason booked for stay. employees were super nice, thoughtful.

Excellent service and beautiful accommodations. The restaurant on premise offers a fantastic selection of delicious food, even for the continental breakfast. The location is ideal with complimentary shuttle service to the nearby beach. Early morning walks to the water are delightful.

I loved staying at this beautiful inn. The staff was wonderful. The delicious breakfast was served fireside(killer coffee). I took advantage of the spa. Dale gave me a perfect massage and facial. I couldn’t be happier with my stay.

there was nothing special to note about this property - in fact, despite the high price we paid, we did not even stay the second night. our room was nothing like the photos - it was dark and covered with dark wood - even on the ceilings. the hallway and staircase was dirty....the breakfast was coffee and a muffin......they even had the nerve to charge us $50/night to park in their parking lot. you expect charm at an Inn....this one was sorely lacking.

Shelter Harbor Inn is simply a beautiful property, built around a huge sprawling 200 year old building. Going in the front door is like stepping back in time, but the property is immaculate. Our corner balcony room was spotless and cozy. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or receptive, the food and drink was excellent, and they offer several special packages that are great values.

We were there for two nights and were out all day. When we returned are room was never cleaned, beds not made, towels not replaced. We had to get our own towels. The amenities in the shower were old and hardly working. The heat and air needed to be updated. We were promised a continental breakfast. The first morning nothing but coffee and second morning really awful selection. They did say they are discontinuing their breakfast. That said they seem to be trying to improve and some of the staff are working hard at it.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room smelled like mildew and there were 3 earwigs crawling on the bathroom floor. No bathroom window, but instead a plywood board nailed to the window. There was not a single hook for hanging anything in the bathroom and no counter space at all. No bags for dirty laundry, no fridge, and the bed headboard was not bolted in, and hit the wall when climbing in and hour or resting against it. One small drawer for storing clothing. Upstairs neighbors were very loud. You can hear them walking across the floor. The mildew smell lingered on my hair and clothing and although there was a dehumidifier, no air filter in the unit and poor air quality. Not a great location by the road but the access to the water was nice and the front desk staff were very sweet people.

The property itself was lovely, however, it lacked attention to detail in many aspects. This inn has so much potential if they only paid more attention to the details. It could be a wonderful "boutique" type inn. Upon entering our cottage, it smelled musty and of mildew. The AC unit did not work whatsoever despite someone coming over and trying to fix it. It never cooled and barely gave off air. Our room was for 4 people but the bedding for the sleeper sofa was not even in the bedroom! The bathroom did not have hand soap, not enough towels and the shower was moldy and dirty. The room lacked seating because if the sofa bed is open, it only left a desk chair to sit on. At breakfast, there was no trash can in sight and they should definitely consider including a few more items besides the cold mini quiches, bagels, croissants, yogurt & cereal. However, the food we had for dinner was fabulous! We had the seafood pasta and it was loaded with perfectly cooked scallops & shrimp and the burgers were great! I really hope management spends some time reading these reviews and makes some adjustments and changes.

This is a charming Inn nestled in a beautiful location in Westerly RI… The room was beautiful and clean and super spacious. I enjoyed a wonderful meal and drink at the restaurant. Food was delicious and staff super friendly. I will be staying here again. Highly recommend this location if you are visiting the area.

The Inn is charming, but we stayed in the basement of the carriage house which is dark, cold and damp. The bed was uncomfortable. We will visit again because the property's nice, the staff is friendly, and the location is good. However, we will make sure we stay in the Inn next time.

Our room was in the barn annex, and the walls were very thin. We could hear the couple next door talking (and then snoring!). I imagine the rooms in the inn itself are nicer. Temperature control was outdated, but otherwise, the room was fine. Breakfast, on the other hand, was terrible. Awful coffee, no creamer, prepackaged junk. This was one of the draws when I made the reservation, but what a waste. Overpriced for the experience.

The staff and service were lovely. And the restaurant attached to the inn is excellent. However, for the cost, the room was tiny, oddly decorated, and had a very uncomfortable bed and pillows. The TV was placed in a spot that was hard to see for one of us because of the bed posts. And the bathroom was extremely tiny, with virtually nowhere to put any toiletries. The shower stall had black tile and no lighting so it was very dark. The very thin walls of the room made it so that you heard everything going on in the other rooms. Lastly, the continental breakfast felt skimpy considering the cost per night.

Didn’t like that it was extremely noisy until 3 a.m. and that in the morning no one was at the desk so that I could tell them about it. I did call when I got home, but think that they could have been more sympathetic and understanding. I do understand that they said I should have called when it was happening but I didn’t realize that they have someone on call all night as this was our first visit there and we were not in the main house. We were in the barn, which I might add is lovely, and they did say that the main house and a small house that is between the main house and the barn is much quieter. Didn’t like that it was extremely noisy until 3 a.m. and that in the morning no one was at the desk so that I could tell them about it. I did call when I got home, but think that they could have been more sympathetic and understanding. I do understand that they said I should have called when it was happening but I didn’t realize that they have someone on call all night as this was our first visit there and we were not in the main house. We were in the barn, which I might add is lovely, and they did say that the main house and a small house that is between the main house and the barn is much quieter. The Staff here, especially Mark, make this place. We have stayed twice and the first room was very clean and modern and one of the least expensive. The restaurant is good and reasonably priced. We used the fire pits after dinner. The highlight is having Mark drive you to the beach and even provide chairs and a box lunch during beach season. Worth mentioning is that you cannot use the fireplace in late summer so I won’t spend the extra money again. We had some cleaning issues which were quickly addressed. We’ll be back!

We were there for two nights and were out all day. When we returned are room was never cleaned, beds not made, towels not replaced. We had to get our own towels. The amenities in the shower were old and hardly working. The heat and air needed to be updated. We were promised a continental breakfast. That said they seem to be trying to improve and some of the staff are working hard at it.

The Inn is generally nice, however they had cancelled our reservation before we even got there. They found a room, but not the one we reserved (not in main house), then two days into our stay there was no heat in our room and they moved us again. They have young kids running the front desk and while sweet kids they had no idea how to fix the heating problem. Then the Inn provided no credit for our poor experience. Overall, not great, we are not coming back!

We loved our stay here! It was quiet, peaceful, and quaint. The staff was SO friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed chatting with them during our stay. It was also so nice to have the restaurant portion available in the evenings for if we wanted to “stay in” for dinner or had a dessert craving. Gorgeous facility, yummy food, friendly staff, and an excellent place to spend a few days.

Beautiful Inn close to restaurants and shopping and yet tucked away in a charming neighborhood. Room was spacious and clean. We enjoyed the fireplace in our room on a chilly night. Reasonable price. Highly recommend.

This is a charming Inn nestled in a beautiful location in Westerly RI… The room was beautiful and clean and super spacious. I enjoyed a wonderful meal and drink at the restaurant. Hi. A nice hotel in a quiet neighborhood with wonderful staff. The walk to the harbor through the neighborhood was relaxing and what dreams of. a vacation home would be like. The breakfast was marginal though.

The property and Inn were lovely and I can’t say enough about the staff that were very accommodating. The shuttle to the beach was a great feature, as well as the provided towels, chairs, and water. The fact that the mini split didn’t work for two nights in our room was tough. They did try to correct the problem but we really didn’t have air until an air conditioner was installed on our third night. A continental breakfast was served but maybe they needed another sterno or serve strictly cold items. The muffins were delicious!! We totally enjoyed our dinner at the Inn.

Our room was in the barn annex, and the walls were very thin. We could hear the couple next door talking (and then snoring!). I imagine the rooms in the inn itself are nicer. Temperature control was outdated, but otherwise, the room was fine. Breakfast, on the other hand, was terrible. Awful coffee, no creamer, prepackaged junk. This was one of the draws when I made the reservation, but what a waste. Overpriced for the experience.

The private beach was wonderful. It was beautiful, not very crowded, and had a lifeguard on duty. We will definitely stay there again!

This was our first time at The Shelton Harbor Inn and it didn’t disappoint. We loved the quaint atmosphere and having a glass of wine by the fireplace was so nice. Staff was extremely friendly and the food at the restaurant was amazing! We’ll definitely be back.
