Moxy NYC East Village

Small but very thoughtfully designed room, like a high-end "pod hotel". Very clean, modern, comfortable. The all-around high quality of everything, the location, made our stay quite enjoyable. We got a nice voucher for the pop-up cafe for breakfast. Excellent food service ambience. That, along with the the other vouchers can make your stay even more enjoyable. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Nice hotel great rooftop

Love this hotel. Have stayed several times. Rooftop bar is beautiful. Downstairs bar and restaurant are phenomenal. It can get a little loud at night if you’re a light sleeper. Neighborhood is pleasant.

Wonderful and staff helpful . Very hip place w a rooftop bar and so many activities within the hotel. Also have access to Crunch gym which is a plus!

There is ample space in the common areas so you can socialize or have space to work. The room is bright and the Queen-size room is cleverly designed to accommodate my needs. I stayed for eights nights and I made it feel like home. One of the elevators was broken for a few days, so that made traveling up to the 12th floor lengthy. The hotel fixed it. The staff was always friendly and I appreciated the morning coffee and $20/day coupon that went to delicious pastries and sandwiches at the cafe.

great location. lots of amenities . very stylish. cool restaurant called the cathedral. great bars. rooms very small but I think that's the norm for Manhattan. staff very friendly and accommodating . Would definitely stay here again.

One of two elevators were down - took forever to get down for 3 days

Parking is misleading on website, if you are new to visiting New York and are driving make sure you are aware that it is not “on site” despite what it says online. So if you are coming in at night make sure you are not alone to go park, walking at night is not the best idea if you are from out of town

Love this little gem! The staff is friendly. The facilities are clean. The decor is quirky. Rooms are small but cozy. The street is quiet. Close to subway lines and there are a lot of eateries nearby. They also offered a $20 daily credit at the in hotel cafe!

Housekeeping came and clean the room everyday but the floor is still sticky with odor

It is a nice hotel for a few days but not longer. They never cleaned the room. I had to asked for fresh towels or toilet paper etc every single day.

On the whole we enjoyed our stay at Moxy East Village. However, we were disappointed with the standard of cleanliness in the room. There was quite a thick layer of dust round the window frame and a tumbleweed of hair came out from under the sink just as we arrived. The floors didn't look like they got mopped between guests - just swept. For the price of the stay I would have expected the room to be clean as a minimum. The cleaning team were otherwise lovely, but I imagine they are only given a short time to clean each day and rooms are not deep cleaned much. Our stay was tarnished on the final day when we went to use the Alphabet Cafe downstairs (part of the hotel). We went to take advantage of their breakfast option as were told we had credit to spend each day - we chose their 'petit-déjeuner' option - two pastries and two bottles of juice with jam and butter. We shared two of these 'platters' between the four of us and it cost $75!! We paid only $10 more than this for 4 rounds of 'Fat and Fluffy' French Toast with fresh fruit at the NewsBar a few blocks away the previous morning - a better, more substantial option in my opinion!

A good location. The bathroom could be cleaned more often

We had a nice stay and enjoyed the cafe. The room was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet. Beware the shower floor is slippery but otherwise a wonderful hotel.

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but my experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. To start, the cleanliness was unacceptable — when I unfolded the sheets, I found an old bandage stuck to them, which was disgusting. The room itself was poorly equipped: no chair, no refrigerator (a big issue in the summer), and the hotel didn’t even have ice available. The staff was inconsistent — a few were helpful, but others were dismissive and unprofessional. I also had unresolved billing issues. A $50 charge from the Alphabet Bar was added to my room. I disputed it and was told it would be investigated, but nothing was done and I never received a refund. On top of that, a $27 coffee shop charge appeared on my bill, again with no explanation of who used my room number. The pricing was misleading. I paid a premium rate, but the accommodations did not come close to matching the cost. On top of that, the hotel added hidden charges, including a mandatory $40 daily facilities fee and other unclear add-ons. These extras added up to roughly 40% of the base room rate — so if you expect to pay $1,000, the actual bill will be closer to $1,400. Overall, this hotel was overpriced, uncomfortable, and untrustworthy with billing. I will not be returning and cannot recommend it to others.

Great creativity on optimising room space but the cleaning needs to cater for these compact living set up too. Too many dusty and unclean surfaces and corners

Great location, clean rooms, friendly staff

The hotel was extremely busy and noisy. The atmosphere is like a dark night club with dance music playing all the time. Hallway floors were dirty. Inside the rooms, there were food crumbs in the crevices next to the beds. Hotel staff were fine, but not warm or welcoming. Only one elevator was working when we were checking out which resulted in long wait times. I am surprised this hotel was highly rated and part of the Marriott chain which is known for upholding a standard of quality.

Very small rooms but really great overall

Small but perfectly formed. Our 4 night stay in NYC, we knew the room was going to be small but with four beds with two teenagers it worked out well. The only downside was our room was directly above the outside terrace area, so quite noisy on Friday and Saturday nights!

Moxy East Village is a great location. I’ve stayed several times but keep in mind the rooms are tiny. No closets, no mini fridge, sink in room .. European tiny.. I believe the standard room is 150 square feet. Fine for one person but cramped if you even have a full size suitcase.

Moxy NYC East Village was simply fantastic - a supreme oasis in the concrete jungle! We loved our room. The beds were so comfortable and our view of 11th Street from our gigantic windows was perfect! If you visit, take some time to hang out in the lobby - it’s dreamy! We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! Thanks to all the staff at the Moxy NYC East Village!

The rooms are small but uniquely efficient & make excellent us of the space.

Ok, so it's a "trendy" decor, I guess it's supposed to look like graffiti, but I wasn't impressed. The strongest objections I have to the hotel are the design of the bathroom (very little privacy) and there were NO CHAIRS and NO DESK. Where are you supposed to do computer work???? Also I would say very overpriced for what you get, I couldn't leave without one more hidden fee attached. I won't be staying again.

The size of the bed and its position against the outside window which meant that the other person in bed with you has to climb over you to go anywhere. Not to mention that the foot of the bed was against a wooden insert where TV was installed and if you were 5'10" and taller your feet would hit the frame. Very very uncomfortable. There is no sink in the bathroom but installed in the main room which leaves no privacy and causes a bottle neck when someone does want to go to the bathroom. Very limited amount of space to put clothes if you were staying over a week. For the price I paid I was very disappointed in this room and I travel a lot.

The room that we got was so tiny that the bathroom sink was in the living space and not in the bathroom… Ridiculous

Great place to stay in the East Village - ridiculously expensive for a small room, but in NYC I guess we expect that. We liked the urban/industrial decor and the innovative ways to store our stuff in the small room. Lots of natural light filled the room, but it was really noisy outside on a Saturday night until almost 4AM. Appreciated being able to work in the ABC lounge during the day while waiting to check in.

Great hotel for taking our son to NYU. Staff was lovely — especially Carmen. She went out of her way to make sure we had the rooms we requested despite confusing reservations, and helped with several other logistical items during our stay. Thank you, Carmen!

Rating would have been higher if I did not have a billing dispute. In addition to the Expedia listed price the hotel adds a $30 per room per night \'Destination\' fee. A positive to this is that this serves as a credit that you can charge drinks or food against. However, in the Cafe they appeared to hand write any thing you purchased next to you room number on a sheet of paper with a great many entries on it, i.e. it is dense & "busy". We ended up with what we believe to be an excess charge of around $9 that was charged against our credit card after we left. I called the hotel and they insisted "but this is the way it done..". It is listed as a manual charge against the credit card. Not good and certainly not 21st century, despite the hotel branding as hip and modern.

Excellent check-in process, very attentive staff and I loved the decor. Highly recommend!

Was disappointed with having to wait for a room to be cleaned at our check in which should have been at 4pm, we waited almost two hours with no extra benefits, didn’t get to use our $30 food credit, etc. they overcharged for parking, etc. Very disorganized.

Had a great stay due to the friendly and knowledgeable staff

Great location, staff were not very friendly during welcoming. Even when all three concierge members were available, they all would avoid eye contact so that you didn’t walk up to them. Cafe was not very clean and couches were dirty. The hotel looks fun and modern, but you it’s not really quiet and you can hear people coming in and out of all hours.

Check in was a disaster; disorganized and unnecessarily complicated. Rooms deceptively small and room we got differed from the one we chose online. Toilet and shower semi enclosed but not an actual full bathroom. Staff was friendly and kind but this place does not have their act together and the room was uncomfortable at best.

The only reason I am not giving this a five star rating is due to the beds and the location of our room. The hotel and staff are great. The hotel is two blocks from Union Square and the neighborhood has a lot of restaurants and stores within walking distance. The only issues were the beds and the location of our room. The beds were not comfortable, you could feel the springs through the mattresses and our room was directly across from Webster Hall so it was extremely noisy until early morning hours every night.

Great East Village location!

Great location, E Village. Close to multiple subway stops. E village with many more affordable dining spots. 2 blocks to bagels and bodega 1/2 block for fruit and veg.

We stayed for 5 nights with family and had a wonderful time exploring NYC. The hotel is in an excellent location with decent amenities on site and great options for eating and drinking nearby. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our visit.

Great spot. Super cute room. But directly across form Webster Halll and EVERY night ( weekdays even) was so loud from 2AM to 3AM. I'd stay again but on other side of the building.

Our go to hotel for visiting family that lives in the neighborhood. Kept up rooms (been staying here since 2021(?)) and great location. Good coffee and pastries for the morning. Comfortable beds.

Absolutely loved the location of this hotel. You are near so many subway lines and bha routes you can get anywhere easily! Rooms were small but manageable!

the Moxy is centrally located and easily walkable to many shops and restaurants. It is modern, updated and unique. We enjoyed our stay.

An interesting hotel in East Village that has quirks. Highlights were the shower (excellent strength and temperature) and value compared to other hotels. Cafe area is good with fun skeeball machine (which can be loud for other guests). We stayed in a double room. Room is in good condition with sizeable shower. Lack of storage space and hairdryer was poor. Cleaners did not leave water 2-3 times during a 10 night stay. Reception staff are standard. Polite but didn't go above and beyond. Did respond to email prior to booking. £30 daily charge can be redeemed at the cafe. The cafe is decent but quite expensive, so we received 2 coffees and 1-2 small pastries for £30. Overall, did the job with a couple of quirks but not much more. Happy but not ecstatic.

Great hotel and convenient for public transportation (subway, etc). Love the breakfast popup - good food & great coffee. Only issue was night time street & people-party noise when all of the hotel bars, including rooftop, were open. Became a lot quieter on the nights the rooftop bar was closed.

Hip design, pristine room with crisp linens and good quality mattress, professional and friendly front desk staff, great underground bar and choice of restaurants.

Good experience at Moxy. They do have a “destination” charge per person, which they slightly offset by giving you some credit to the cafe in the lobby. Rooms are small, but comfortable. No refrigerator in the room.

The room was very small but acceptable for NYC. It isn't optimal that coffee is not available in the room, but at least there is free morning coffee in the lobby. The attached cathedral restaurant was great.

Room was excellent for two friends traveling together. Location was terrific for the things we wanted to do on the lower east side, accessible by subway and walking. Bar, lobby and common areas were comfy and fun. I was only disappointing in the quality (drinks) at the roof bar - but others seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Good value for a nice newer clean room with comfortable bed and all the basic amenities. Mofern urban vibe. We got the smallest room and there was only access from one side. It was tight, but okaybfor one night. Would get bigger room if staying longer. Staff were great especially Nikki and Robert. Bar and lounge area was confortable during day, gets a livelier crowd at night. Loved the free skeeball maxhine Good drinks
