Mercure Canberra Belconnen

I’ve stayed here many times. Nice rooms, easy parking and cheap at $12, adjacent to Canberra Labor Club and a short walk to Belconnen Mall.

Labour Club adjoins in the parking area.

It’s a new building and it’s very clean. Staff are helpful and friendly as well. On-site parking is a plus as well.

New everything! Beds, bathrooms, towels… Good parking with EV chargers (32 amp). Only criticism was signage. The building looks like a large multi-storey parking lot not a hotel from the street, with only one small grey Mercure sign.

access to the labor club for a $1 membership. Hotel parking offer was great and easy with lift access from level 3. the hotel has free laundry in basement 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. powder also provided free. Staff were great and hotel was well kept. 20 mins to city.

Large room with 2 queen beds, spacious bathroom and good amenities. Breakfast was a really good buffet. The car parking was free (Expedia perk, otherwise $15/night) and the car park was spacious and easy to navigate.

Unfortunately one of two lifts was out of service, so much waiting around was experienced

Great hotel. Would stay here again. Friendly reception. Room was very clean and modern. Lots of space. Comfortable. Was able to charge our electric vehicle for free in secure off street parking.

The hotel had very good parking. Having the Labor Club next door was convenient for our meals and a relaxing drink.

Carpet quite dirty. The shower drain was clogged, the water couldn't go down , and I had to clean out the accumulated hair myself! It was disgusting!

The hotel, room and staff were lovely. What let the experience down was the noisy fan that couldn’t be lowered and the gunk or food smeared on the wall near the bathroom light switch.

Water pressure for shower is slightly on the weak side. Area under the bed didn't vacuum and have rubbish. Good thing is the bed and pillows very good which guarantee a good sleep.

The glass doors and screens in the toilet and shower area needed a proper clean. The door to the toilet was wonky and could be a hazard

Fantastic hotel, modern clean and convenient

EVERYTHING was perfect, as a previous motel cleaner of 5 year's im very picky this was our second stay here and i can't fault it. its our 'to go place' from now on.

Nice and clean

The level of accommodation in terms of comfort was very good. The cleanliness of the bathroom over the four days of my stay was a bit lacking, and the top-up of supplies, such as sugar and tissues, was a somewhat neglected. Other wise it was fine.

There was only enough sugar for 2 coffees. The glass door on the toilet was really dirty and the 2 black shelves in the bathroom were also dirty. In a Mecure I would expect more than basic cleaning of a bathroom

TV did not work even though they knew about it and rented the room anyway, light fitting location means person hits their head easily on when in bed. Only half petition in shower which means water everywhere. PLace smelt when entering, A/C only cooled at max not moderation and very noisy.

The rooms were spacious and clean. They had a variety of pillows to choose from. The mattress was very comfy. Breakfast had enough options but wasn’t extensive. Really nice service to help us. The rooms were very quiet for instance we were right near the lift and heard nothing. We would stay here again.

The room was large but disappointing that a window or door could not be opened for fresh air. Also disappointing that could not utilise the balcony area outside my room due to no access.

Walk-in shower with need to turn and reach for bodywash, shampoo etc is dangerous at my age. No actual soap a failing. Otherwise no real complaints.

Had a good stay here, though the heating/cooling fan was a bit noisy. Did like the view over Lake Ginninderra. Being able to join the Canberra Labor Club is also a boon.

Clean, spacious room. There was a loud whistling noise which was fixed when we put a towel at the base of the door.

The room was modern, bed comfortable and the shower fantastic. Staff very welcoming would highly recommend this hotel.

I was so impressed with this hotel . For the price our room was lush , comfortable and super large. We will def stay here again if in this part of town. Lovely decor

The initial experience for this hotel was looking for the entrance to the hotel. There is a number on glass doors which takes you to the car park. Check in was challenging and we were standing in a line for 20 minutes to check in as there were a lot of people checking in at the same time and only 2 persons working. The room was lovely and set out nicely set out. Special call out to the night reception lady, we ordered late night food and there was man in reception who had a disability, he was interested in the pizza we ordered and we gave him a piece, we called to reception to see if he would of liked more and were informed she bought him a pizza out of her own money. What an outstanding young lady. Well done.

Terrible experience at check in. Arrived at 2:04pm and due to the 5 minute waiting bay out front being occupied by other users, sent my wife in to check us in for a pre paid booking with a credit card for incidentals. She was told that the check in staff would be required to site me whose name the booking was in….(I couldn’t do this once checked in and parked perhaps?). 2 minutes later, at 2:06pm I walked in and as I did a gentleman with a name badge displaying the name MD walked out the back. I politely waited 1 minute because he had seen me, before ringing the bell. I heard a voice suggest they wouldn’t be long. I was required to wait until 2:12pm before MD again came out. MD then conducted the check in process using my ID and CC. This process took until 2:19 which seemed deliberately inflammatory to the already poor experience we had endured. Through out the process I remained silent and refrained from expressing my dissatisfaction. I was handed the key to my room and I left. No explanation of what charges had been held on my card, nothing about the gym or breakfast, just a query on whether he could sting me further for carparking. A terrible experience and far below my expectations. I wouldn’t stay here again and I would expect a standard expression of understanding from management on this review but no real effort to make a bad situation right. All I did was try check into my pre paid hotel room at the appropriate time and was treated horribly.

I called the property the day before to organise a late checkout, they told me I had to pay $80 to stay until 5pm and that it would be ok. When I went to check in they told me that the late checkout would not be possible.

Checkin was terrible. There was no parking out the front so I dropped my wife off but she was not able to checkin as the booking was in my name. I was cranky.

When I called to ask about breakfast (which was super disappointing itself), I was met again with the same uninterested tone. When we approached the room, we saw a toilet brush left at our front door. It stayed there for the entirety of the stay. Gross. There was rubbish poking out under one of the beds (a jelly cup or something). As mentioned, the breakfast was very disappointing and very mediocre. I regret spending the money.

Location was good, parking is quite convenient, but the area around was dark while going on a walk in the evening.

The perfect location to stay for Regionals at the Australian Institute of Sport. Friendly staff, good size room, short walk to various restaurants, good buffet breakfast.

My wife and I have stayed here often. We love the location and the close walk to shops etc.

The hotel and staff there were excellent. Breakfast could be better.. I think the hot food was prepared for a 7.00a.m. opening and was singularly unappealing when i arrived at 9.00. Otherwise, cereals n fruit offered were fine

Breakfast was terrible, food was cold and some Bain Marie's empty even though we were there at 7.30am. Coffee was disgusting, juice was powdered with water, whole dining experience was awful.

The rooms were quite new and clean. The hotel was also quiet. The breakfast was sub-standard in terms of choice, quality and service. There was never enough food served as the Bain Marie’s were constantly either empty or only a quarter full. Numerous requests had to be made to staff on consecutive days by various patrons for more food to be served and made available. If customers are paying a premium price for breakfast each day then they shouldn’t have to be asking for adequate amounts of food to be served as it should already be served in the first instance. I would stay in the hotel rooms again but I would never again order the room and breakfast package deal, just accomodation only.

The staff were great, the area was clean - however… on the first night we were there the floor flooded (walked out to like an apocalyptic type scenario/ a guy was single handedly trying to control a water leak… the boom gate in the car park was broken and the breakfast was horrible) we kinda laughed this off as a holiday we won’t forget….(it happens in threes right?) The second day again the breakfast was yucky. The coffee machine waters down your coffee and hot chocolate and the orange juice taste weird - the yoghurt tastes as though it’s done a few heat cycles (ie in and out of the fridge) to their merit every staff member we interacted with was polite and wished us a good day, this kinda made the other things a bit more bearable. We didn’t carry on about the breakfast - just brought food elsewhere it’s probably not worth including in your stay. Can’t fault the staff but also can’t say I’ll be back in a hurry.

Great value for money and great property. Everything in the room as described. The only thing I would like them to improve was in terms of breakfast which is provided was not up to Mercure standard as it's being served by club next door. Thanks

Beautiful, modern rooms. Loved the google cast option in the rooms. The buffet breakfast seemed a little overpriced for the offerings.
