We loved this hotel. It's a smaller boutique hotel with a really cool design and great overall ambience, with lots of nice plants & tropical foliage throughout and a clean, minimalist decor theme with little boho accents. The food was good and the drinks were excellent. The pool is small but big enough to spend some time in and cool off - and again, very beautiful. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is a short walk (<5 minutes) to La Punta beach & restaurants but just far enough off the main area to be quiet at night. Would recommend this to anyone interested in staying by La Punta.

Straight to the point—hotel has unbelievable breakfast, and rooms are decent and simple. decent sleep, but you will hear other guests from time to time. Negative—don't be fooled by the size of the pool from the photos; it's tiny and looks more like there are fish in it. Also, it's located in reception, where it's slightly awkward with guests arriving. Next bad issue: its location is great to get into the shops, bars, restaurants, and beaches. However, it's located on a small street with a lot of street dogs. These street dogs are real menacing, and I was bitten by one quite badly right outside the hotel, and staff were great to assist me and get me to a local hospital. A lovely couple we met at the hotel also told us they had also been bitten by a street dog on the small street of the hotel, and she was also taken to the hospital. On my way to the hospital, I saw a local who lived on the street throwing rocks at the dogs so they could just get into their apartment. He told me that they are a pain to deal with on the daily. Overall—Great hotel; I just wouldn't stay there again due to the several dogs roaming around day and night on such a dark street at nighttime. Wouldn't risk it again. However, the room was good, the food was great, and the staff were lovely. Hope this review helps.

The staff was super friendly and helpful, the included breakfast choices were terrific, the welcome cocktail a cut above the ordinary and yoga in the morning made for a great stay in individual room casitas close to everything. One helpful idea ( since your restaurant/pool has sand ground) would be a pan of water at the bottom of the steps so we don’t track sand into your lovely rooms.

The property had a great ambiance. I was grateful there was a pool because it was quite warm and humid during our stay in July. The staff was amazing and the food we ate there was amazing!! Especially the coconut shrimp tacos!!! Sebastian was the bartender was excellent and made the best drinks!! I can’t wait to return!!

This place is sophisticated and fun. The rooms are spacious and modern, the on-site food and bar are really good, the staff is helpful and engaged. We would highly recommend this place.

Great stay. Clean and modern apartment less then 5 minutes walk to the beach and close to all the restaurants and shops of Punta Zicatela. Would definitely stay again.

We had a fantastic stay at Raiz hotel. It's tucked away on a small street, it was quiet and secluded while also being close to the beach and amenities. The room was cozy and clean. Would definitely stay again!

Un lugar pequeño pero agradable. El servicio excelente y sus cocteles son muy buenos. Solo recomendaría una fumigada más frecuente. Ya que en nuestro caso, había muchos animalitos en la cama. A pesar de sacudir antes de dormir , en la noche despertábamos por sentir su caminar en el cuerpo.

This is a great, new, clean and beautiful hotel that is like a little oasis. The design is great and modern, and the rooms are comfortable and have a great bed. The hotel is small and definitely has a boutique feel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The pool is small but refreshing in the middle of the hot day. Just a few suggestions: some coffee or tea in the room would be lovely alongside the free water and the curtain across the door needs to be of a thicker material or a double curtain as it felt like the room at times lacked privacy as the curtain was somewhat see through.

Dirty property. Location is very underdeveloped. Dirt roads, little lighting. Linens were dirty with sweat stains and a blood stain. Nowhere to lay out, pool is basically a large bath tub. You also can’t swim in the beach nearby due to the drop off from sand to water. Maybe if this property had been a third of the price I could have said well you get what you pay for but for these rates, I expected something clean and comfortable. I’ve never done this before but I ate the cost of 2 nights and a flight change so I could leave as early as possible. Management didn’t seem to care much when I complained.

El peor hospedaje que he tenido en mi vida, la habitación estaba llena de esponjas que parecía una bodega, por el lavamanos y la regadera brotaban muchas cucarachas, apestaba a polvo, el aire acondicionado no funcionaba, pagué por el peor alojamiento que no recomiendo por nada del mundo hospedarse aquí, además se sentía inseguro.

The first impression was short of exciting. But once you are in the hotel it is very nice. If you have weak knees the stairs can be a bit of a challenge.

Nice relaxing stay. The staff was nice and helpful. It was really enjoyable being able to order drinks while hanging out in the pool. The ac was more than enough to keep the room cool.

We loved this hotel. It is so cute, lush, and tropical. The rooms are simple but beautifully designed. The daily breakfast was amazing—fresh bread and homemade jams, fresh fruit juice made to order. The menu is simple but everything is so good. You have to try the coconut shrimp tacos and the parmesan fries. It’s just a two-minute walk to Zicatela Beach. The staff were exceptional. On our last day, we had called a taxi. The car that arrived was from the right company, but it wasn’t the driver we had booked. When we asked him if he was the driver we had called, he said yes—but he actually wasn’t. I suspect he realized we were expecting someone else and was just trying to get a fare. The front desk concierge, a lovely girl, quickly noticed the mix-up. She first asked the driver if he could take someone to the beach, then checked with us about whether we had called a cab, and finally said, “I don’t think this is your driver.” Thanks to her intervention, other guests ended up taking that cab, and a few minutes later, the correct driver arrived. We were very grateful for her attentiveness—it made our departure smooth and stress-free. I would definitely feel safe solo at this hotel. We highly recommend this place and would stay again, if nothing more than just for the lovely staff. Unfortunately, we don’t remember everyone’s names, but big shout-outs to Sebastian, who had the best energy, to Mar, who cooked lovely food for us every day and of course the lovely concierge!

We had a wonderful stay at Raíz! The rooms are small but super cozy and nicely decorated, the hotel doesn’t have many rooms and feels very familiar. The staff was excellent in service and helping us with tours. We regretted that we didn’t stay longer. (Based on another review, we fully searched the room/mattress for bed bugs. We couldn’t find any and didn’t get any bites or similar during our stay)

Fin lokasjon, nære stranden og hovedgaten. En del støy om natten fra barer og hunder. Fint og rent rom, hyggelig på hotellet. Frokosten var god, men litt gnient at vi kan velge mellom tre frokostretter som ikke er så store. Man må betale for nesten alt på frokostmenyen

We had a wonderful time at the Hotel Raíz. The staff was so helpful and friendly. They helped arrange a sea turtle release as well as a scooter rental. They even helped arrange taxis when we needed medical attention. Overall we felt well taken care of the entire stay. Highlights: - Food and drinks: Sebastian made such delicious drinks and was so hospitable. Definitely get the Jardin Secreto drink! - Location: short walk to a beach that isn’t crowded. Definitely rent an umbrella to help with the sun! - Rooms: very well decorated and feels like eco luxury

Raíz is an outstanding hotel located very close to the beach and Punta Zicatela, but just far enough away to ensure a peaceful stay. The staff are exceptional. From the moment I arrived after a very long red-eye Ximena and Brenda at the reception were always super friendly and knowledgeable. The food was superior, Mitka in the kitchen always serving delicious food, but more than that the staff are just so warm, friendly and inviting. Bartender Luis and servers and bartenders Arath and Sebastian make a mean cocktail with interesting twists using local Oaxacan ingredients and were beyond friendly. This place won’t soon be forgot and I hope to return sometime in the future. Just maybe when it’s not so hot.

Hotel excelente, buena ubicación, atención increíble. Todo el personal es atento y te dan excelentes consejos para tu estadía. Tienen varios convenios y contactos para tours que puedes apartar y que incluyen el traslado desde y hacia el hotel. La comida y cocteles son increíbles. Definitivamente sera nuestro hotel predilecto para vacacionar en Puerto Escondido.

Everything was great, the rooms are as shown on their pictures and Ana, Sebastian, (the other person at the bar whose name I cannot remember right now) and the cleaning staff were all extremely nice! We would’ve given it a 5 but: - The property is advertised as Pay At Property but they charged me the full amount about 3 days after booking and neither Expedia nor the Hotel helped solve the issue. - Right when checking out we were charged a bunch of stuff that the staff very clearly and repeatedly said was included at breakfast, such as tea, some dishes (in one particular case we were told the person who served us was wrong but still went ahead and charged it to the final bill even though they had agreed they wouldn’t). We ended up paying about $30 USD extra for unexplained stuff (after they “did us the favor” of lowering the extra charges). It would’ve all been perfect if the owners had shown more principle than greediness. Oh and don’t believe they give you “beach towels”, they’re just beach throws that won’t dry you. Also the restaurant stops serving food after 3:00 p.m.

Location of the hotel was great. Near the restaurant and beach area but not in the center of it, thereby quiet and relaxing. The staff was phenomenal, very accommodating and pleasant.

A beautifully pared-back hotel hidden away from the hustle of Brisas de Zicatela, yet still a 5 min walk to the village and the beach.

Ganz nettes Personal und das Ambiente ist zauberhaft. Es liegt zentral und doch ruhig. Nur das Frühstück mit den einzelnen Zuzahlungen fanden wir unpraktisch

La comida del restaurante DELICIOSA!! y a la llegada te dan 1 bebida con mezcal de cortesía, super detalle! Todo el hotel bello y muy limpio que es super importante! Sin duda me volvería a hospedar ahí, excelente ubicación.
