Winnisquam Lake Inn

It looks like the owners are rennovating the property, as the hotel room itself was ok. So things may improve. But tbe rest of the property was filthy & just in desperate need of repair and/or a coat of paint. The breakfast area is in same room as check-in. While checking-in around 3:30PM, I noticed crumbs & old food left out on counter which was disconcerting. But when I accidentally leaned against the counter, it was covered with spilled syrup - all down the cabinet & a puddle on the floor which was just gross. The hotel is on a main street, so there's a lot of traffic noise.

Property was unkept. Trash/cigarette butts overflowing out in the parking lot. Waffle maker was very dirty. Carpet had coffee stains.Kitchen counter top not secure and went into the bathroom doorway so you can't close the door. Deck boards rotted,picnic table needs paint,very old. Ice machine empty..

the place was very run down walls needed painting could hardly move around in the bathroom the vanity would slid off in your lap as you try to sit on the toilet. there is no lake view and as a picture showing sitting by the beach not true the inn is on the other side of a busy road from the lake. the gentlemen that ran the place was amazing and he was very kind when we told him that we weren't staying and got a room somewhere else. he asked what he could do to make it better and gave us a refund.

Property was right on the main road so it was a tad noisy. What was worse is that it's under renovations and the property is not in great shape at the moment. Staffing was also limited so few people wearing a lot of hats.

The beach area was a danger to get to. Had to cross a very busy highway and walk down a steep hill. Breakfast was skimpy and late.

The property was very dated. Deck boards were loose and dangerous feeling. Although our bathroom was updated, the fact that the bathroom door was practically off the hinge, the tv didn’t work and the decor was absent. Not a single picture or painting on a wall to add some sort of homeyness. Felt very bla.

Mattresses outside the property. have done some upgrades, need much more. Attendant not in the office. Breakfast wasn’t put out at 7.

When we arrived at the property very late at night and there was no one in the office when we arrived and I had to call the guy everymorning to come to the front office. He said getting up before 9:00 pm was too early for him. There was no breakfast, trash laying everywhere along with old furniture. Stairs were on the brink of breaking also. The room we ended up in was on the 3rd floor!!! He said there were no more rooms left. We were the only car on the parking lot!!! We finally convined Jack (front desk person) to move us to a larger room on the main floor with a walk up to the door with our luggage. We had to pay additional 25 night per room. We ended up staying at this property for 4 nights. We were also in this area due to a family death. We also had to ask for additional toilet paper, bath towels and facecloths every morning! I think someone needs to address the owner of this hotel and tell him to get busy with completing the renovations before they invite other guests to stay there. There were no soap dishes in the shower, no closet to hang clothes, desk and chair would have been nice also. I hope all this makes sense to you.

Having recently changed hands, it was clear the place is in transition. That said, it was clean and comfortable, staff were nice. Location is lovely and convenient.

The photos on the website must be 20 years old. Coincidentally that seems to have been the same time they stopped doing any type of maintenance. The description said the room included a hair dryer that was not present, neither was the shower curtain. Calling 3 bananas and half a loaf of Wonderbread included breakfast is a bit of a stretch, even if it is sitting next to a waffle iron that likely began rusting sometime during the Obama administration. The private beach is on the other side of a busy road where the speed limit is 40mph and all of the chairs are broken and rusted. I could go on but you get the picture…do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Hotel room was dirty. Old sheets left in the drawers along with old food. Clearly the room wasn’t cleaned properly. The shower had hair left in it. I would not stay there again. We left first thing in the morning.

This hotel was disgusting. Pictures were misleading and come to my room to find nothing but hair all over the furniture, in the bathroom, and sheets. That is not the only found in sheets, I also found bed bugs after lying down. There was quite a few of them. I called the front desk who acted surprised, they tried to put me in the adjacent room, I had to leave it was so disgusting and infested. This place needs a health check.

Horrible place, dirty, black mold, space under doors, no staff around to help with issues, breakfast was left out from day before. This place should be shut down!

Our hotel room was very dirty. Finger prints on the windows, stained bedsheets, and to top it off there was used woman sanitary products under the sink. The manager was quickly informed and even though he was very kind, no type of refund or incentive was offered. We will not be coming back.

The outside porches had mold. Room is absolutely horrendous , stains and dirt everywhere. Looks like they just refolded the bed and towels. Everything had stains and was dirty. There was hair on the pillows. No shower curtain so water got everywhere bathmat was also dirty with big black stain. Rooms are not well maintained or kept up with . We felt obligated to use our own sheets and blankets. Outlets dont all work and are so loose. I had to tape my charger to stay in the wall. I would never stay here again even if I was desperate . While they are affordable, I do feel that cleanliness and basic appearance is the bare minimum regardless of the price. Also, when we asked for new pillowcases, they did not provide any and when we woke up in the morning, we found that each dirty moldy chair had “new sheets waiting” outside all the rooms.

The inn was not very clean. The sheets looked stained and were rough. There was a comforter on it that seemed like it was from an old college dorm. The bathroom had what looked like blood splatter on the walls. Would not stay here again.

The property is in rough shape. The room was filthy, dirt, finger prints, and shoe prints all over the walls. The carpet looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in forever. I had to request new bed sheets and blanket because of brown stains on them, then change the bed myself. The bathroom was poorly planned- they had to cut a hole in the wall to reach the flush handle… staff was ok, not great, and breakfast was just mediocre. I started looking for other hotels in the area as soon as we got to our room, but unfortunately, nothing was available. Thank God I was only staying one night!

I rarely write bad reviews because I know that the owners of private places have a hard job and rely on seasonal income. I wasn't expecting much due to the price. I expected just wanted a clean room for the night. I walked in and immediately put my phone on a sticky pile of who knows what. Messed my camera up No toilet paper and the worse was stained sheets and comforter. Besides that just a basic room.

The carpet in the room Was disgusting and stained, looks like their isny much upkeep. There was someones used condom outside of my window on the roof below.

The room was so small I could barely walk in it. The shower was tiny. AC made loud banging noise all night so I could not sleep.

The rooms are very nice clean and updated. Outdoor seating. Lots of traffic.

I knew this place wasn't a 5 star hotel. It was exactly what I expected. I think I had a newer renovated room? The king size bed was comfortable. The shower seemed new also. Overall the room was neat and clean but very small. I only slept there and didn't spend much time, but the room was adequate for my needs.

Tiny and basic. This room had a double bed, TV, antique microwave, and 1 lamp. The bathroom had a walk in shower, but no door or curtain so water would go everywhere if you used it. Highly doubt we will stay there again.

Room was a lot smaller than we expected but it had everything we needed for a quick night away. It was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We didn’t take advantage of the coffee and breakfast but it looked nice. Overall a pretty good value for the price.

The room was clean. The property was centrally located and very affordable. I stayed during the off-season and the entire place to myself. The hotel offers beautiful views of Winnisquam Lake. It was great to watch the sunrise over the mountains in the morning.

Cost efficient, but you get what you pay for. Room was so small you couldn’t walk on both sides of the bed. Carpets in hallways were clearly soiled. Bugs on the wall from the air conditioner. We only stayed long enough to sleep so can’t review breakfast.

The rumor small the bed was uncomfortable. The pillows were flat. It’s a very old place. I expected it to be a little better.

I had a great time. The room was very comfortable. Great view and there was Uber Service. Plenty of restaurants and things to do. Can’t wait to go back.

Tried calling three times during the day to confirm desk times and got voicemail each time. When checking in, had to look for desk clerk. Room was tiny with only a double bed rather than the queen bed we booked. Asked for an additional pillow, was told it would come and never did. Breakfast was meager at best. I would not recommend this hotel.

Called to confirm reservations to learn they did not have a room for us. Had to find another option. Absolutely terrible experience- hard to trust.

We waited a while for someone to come check us in. By the time we got to our room, that person was gone. Never to be seen or heard from again. There was no internet, TV didn't work and neither did the remote control. I immediately went back to the office and left a message on the desk, stating so. No one answered the 2 phone numbers that was posted on the office door to call if we needed anything. I tried calling for 2hrs. No way to leave a message and no answer. We left to go to our concert and returned back to the Inn around 11:30pm. The main door was left open and still no one was around. Luckily, we didn't forget or lose our key, because we wouldn't be able to get into our room. It was my daughter and myself in our room. It felt very unsafe, knowing anyone could walk in the front door. There was no phone in our room as well. We went to bed and when we got up and was ready to check out, there still was no one in the office. I left the keys and we left. I will never stay there again. We did not feel safe.

The main number listed goes to voicemail and is never answered. The secondary number found on their site, I called around 10am the day of check-in to specifically ask if someone would be at the desk when we check in after a wedding we were attending around 10:30pm. The guy I spoke to said yes. I get two calls in the middle of the wedding at 5:30 asking what time I will be checking in after I already told them. I tell them again 10:30pm. We get to the property and no one is there to check us in. The phone was going unanswered, my husband didn’t know about the secondary phone number. 15 minutes later we get ahold of him and got into our room but having to wait after being told someone would be there was frustrating. He did offer us $100 back which was great because the room was not worth the $350 we paid. There was blood on the bathroom door. The shower curtain was kind of gross. And there are gaps around the main door where light and bugs can easily come through. Breakfast was not available when we were leaving at 8:30ish. All around not worth what was paid.

Pretty nice, modest place. Good view of Winnesquam which is right across the road. Close to Bank of NH Pavilion for concert-goers.

It is right across from lake Winnisquam in Tilton, NH which is a great view. On the negative side it is right on a busy road with lots of traffic and road noise.

there was a mistake in the reservation, the hotel did not see it, but did accommodate me and found me a room. It was small but very comfortable and clean. The gentlemen who was the manager was so very pleasant and did everything he could to assist me and my party in getting a room for the evening. I took a card because I will definitely return and give this Inn my business, plus the views of the lake across the street are breathtaking.

No hair-dry or cups for teeth brushing in Bath room. Anyway, good place for saving cost for just a good sleep during travel.

I was really excited about staying at this property. They promised a Lakeview and free breakfast. The Lakeview was looking at a large dumpster. And on our first day there they said breakfast would come out at 8 AM and it wasn’t ready so my family started their day hungry. I often choose places with breakfast There was also construction debris around the property. The rooms were beautiful and clean was very soft beds, which is why I gave it a three star rating. They also didn’t give us enough towels, soap or toilet paper. When I asked for them, it took me going down there two times to get them

Upon check in we were informed that there is no breakfast, since the price was discounted. (The Expedia listing states breakfast is included.) The room contained no wash cloths and the shower head was spraying up to the ceiling, where the paint was peeling. The beds were relatively comfortable but extremely springy, feeling like i was sleeping in a bowl of jello. An average rating is generous.

Check in was good, and staff was friendly. There’s a number to call if you’re not there at 3p check-in time. We got a good nights sleep, no kids until the morning. There’s a decent sized tv in the room, cable tv and internet. No place to sit except to watch it on the bed. Bathroom small, but nice, upgraded. The next day- for breakfast, you need to get there early. Opens I believe at 7a and I got there at 8a- which was too late. Water for Keurig was gone, I brought my own. Creamer was gone. Trash overfilled. You could make your own waffles, but it didn’t work. There were a couple of yogurts and juices. Gone. So we went out for breakfast at a diner down the road, very busy, but worth the wait. They didn’t plan on refilling anything, even though they walked past several times. Overall it was just ok.

Fresh homemade waffle is soooo delicious and staff so nice. So beautiful view seeing the lake. Many thanks and will definitely come back.

Location was good. Room was big & clean. Landscaping & grounds were not tidy. Breakfast was not good.

If you just need a bed to sleep in this is a decent spot. The breakfast bar had a broken waffle maker, overflowing trash, and no spoons. There was work going on outside, so the attendant wasn't always there, so it might have just been an off weekend. But the bed was clean and the price was decent.

The picture of this place is not what it is. The place is not in great condition. The breakfast that was included with the room price consisted of old fruit and stale bread. We did not eat there. The room was very basic. No glasses for drinking water in the room. The tv did not work. The stairs leading from the office to our room was ready to fall down. This place should not be called an Inn. It is a motel with 2 floors. Finally it was way over priced for this type of place.

Continental breakfast was a dirty waffle maker, 2 open bowls of cereal and 3 juice pouches. Coolers were empty, no pastries, no fruit, no juices and the area was extremely dirty. The hotel advertised free bottled water but actually it was a water cooler.
