Guest reviews

What guests think

AI-generated summary based on recent guest reviews

Winnisquam Lake Inn draws mixed feedback: guests praise the lake views, reasonable prices, and occasionally updated rooms, but many cite significant cleanliness problems, maintenance issues, and small, dated spaces, with noise from the busy road across the waterfront.

The pictures on the website are very deceiving. The place is RUN DOWN and DIRTY. Our towels in the room were used and had make up on them. The light in the sitting room didn’t work so at night it was complete darkness. The stove had food crumbs inside each burner. The screens on the windows were either torn or full of cobwebs. The chair in the bedroom had huge stains on them. The grounds are not kept up. The continental breakfast was like non existent. Me, along with several other people went down at 8am and there was nothing to eat. One banana, two pieces of white bread and an apple were all that was available. The container that I think had mini muffins in it was empty and sitting on the counter. Just beware that this place is NOT worth the money.

I arrived at the property expecting amenities that were not there. The fire pit for example was a rusted out burn pile in the yard. Upon entering my room I found a room so small it literally had a bed a nightstand and a tv with a micro frig and microwave stacked in a corner on the floor. The pictures online led you to believe you would be able to walk out to the lake from the property but the lake was across a very busy highway and I did not see any access pints just guard rails and ditch. The entire place is clearly in need of an update and refurbish. I did not even stay the night I simply left got back in my car and found another location. I was so appalled I didn’t even bother returning the keys. Which btw I was instructed to keep away from all battery operated items as if they deactivated no one would be on property to help fix them.

When I first arrived, I was a little disappointed to see duct tape patches on the canopy over the walkway and when I went in a guest was at the desk to report his toilet was plugged but no one was around so he left a note. I left and went for a drive and came back later and was then waited on with no trouble. I was also disappointed the photo in the ad showing lounge chairs on the beach leading me to believe they had beach front property however; the motel is on the other side of the highway. Very seldom I saw anyone at the desk and nobody tending the breakfast area in the morning, so some items ran out. Some of the plastic deck chairs were broken and the chairs and tables outside our door were nasty with dirt and bird poop. I thought it would have been nice if someone dried the water off the table and chairs after the rainstorm so we could have had breakfast outdoors on the deck. Some old vinyl siding laying around that had obviously been there for quite some time didn't look very good. The room was pretty clean but lacked any cups in the bath. Plenty of parking room but the parking lot had trash in it that should have been swept up, and the pavement was in pretty bad shape. All together just seemed like lack of attention around the place. We just stayed one-night didn't expect too much for the price but wouldn't plan a week there.

Paid for a lake view room and they switched our room to a non-lake review. The water for the shower was cold, and the towels are very small.
