The Pirate Inn

Very comfortable accommodation but wifi didn’t work, which also meant that some of TV service wasn’t available. We were told that if we linked to wifi in the bar area, it would then work in the room, but it didn’t. We ate in the bar in the evening, but we later found much better options for same price in the town centre so I would recommend giving the bar a miss. Good selection of tea, coffee, hot choc in the room. Also a fridge which is always useful.

Good place to stay. Value for money. Pub music went off at 10pm so perfect.

Not bad but found the Pods rather damp. The bar in the main building looked like it could do with a good cleaning. The manager was helpful as the wifi guest wasn't connecting in our Pod but allowed us to use his.

A well supported establishment by locals. Its too far from the sea front for tourist to come and find. But easily within 10 minutes for you to walk down to the promenade. Or a couple of minutes further for you to walk straight along the road into the centre of town where the shops are. Everything in the room worked, there was a full sized fridge if you needed to use it. Decent supply of tea and coffee. The room could do with a bit of a freshen up , But its a very old building, your never going to make it look like a premier inn. Locals were friendly. Ample size flat carpark with Cameras. You can use carpark for overnight camper stops for free if you use the pub. Lovely large Beer garden. Entertainment on some weekends on the stage outside. There is a large covered area, just in case. Childs play are too. Young lad behind bar with a beard was particularly helpful O and the home made steak and ale pie was excellent. A proper pie, not a tin with a lid on.

Lovely pub, great food and beer! Plenty of parking and friendly staff. Would stay again..

. The inn is only about 10 minutes walk from the town centre and 15 minutes from the sea front. The rooms were spotless and there was plenty of toiletries and tea, biscuits etc provided. We managed to get something to eat there on the first night despite it being busy and near closing time for the kitchen. It was also nice to have a nightcap in the bar before a two minute walk up the stairs to bed. We shall definitely make this a regular stop off when passing through Penzance.

We had a room inside the pub, plenty of tea/ coffee etc.bathroom ceiling etc was full of mould - nasty. We didnt know that food stopped serving at 8pm so we had to trek into town to the Weatherspoons. Room was clean, very loud fridge , kettle needs to be cordless as its a pain. Very noisy as had to have window open due to heat , but noisy from the road.

Rooms above the pub are extremely basic ( we stayed in room 1) The bathroom door does not closed properly. The shower is extremely rudimentary and has very little water pressure. There is a dusty airing cupboard that is rammed with towels but it would not lock. Above the bed is a cupboard with all electric circuits for the pub, kitchen and rooms. I don’t think it should be in a bedroom. The condition of the room and furniture is outdated and tired The carpet does not look the best. The landing is messy and the access unappealing. Our room was directly above the pub and on the first night it got a bit noisy until midnight. It seems that the excellent ratings are for some pods outside the pub, but they are stand alone near the beer garden and brand new. The pub, surprisingly, does not provide breakfast and although our room had a tiny fridge and coffee and tea facilities, there is virtually no room to be able to have anything beyond a cuppa. The only saving grace is that the staff were lovely and the pub is quite charming. We did not eat in there as the menu is nothing exceptional ( some menus on previous reviews must be ancient as the one provided has nothing to do with them)

It was relatively cheap, but the room condition is awful - black mold is everywhere.

The gentlemen that was working Friday night that gave us our keys was a pleasant gentleman. He also checked us out on Sunday and is friendly. The price of the stay was on par with the local area but I would not return unfortunately. The water pressure in the bathroom sink was ridiculous to the point where it nearly didn't produce any water. The shower temperature was blistering or cold, one of them electric showers that takes 5 minutes to perfect with the dial. Cobwebs in the room which tells me cleaning the rooms regularly was not a priority. Be prepared for live music/general pub noise until 2200 on weekend! On the plus side the area for parking was large and you can walk into town/seaside in 10 minutes.

There was used food in the fridge, which we mentioned to bar staff on a couple of occasions, but it was still not cleared during our stay.

The Pods were excellent spoiled by an unfixed toilet roll holder!! Meals were good value Cleanliness in the Inn could be. much better There was a wonderful collection of spider webs behind the wall lights which spoiled things a little! But overall I enjoyed my stay!!

Room was tidy with all the facilities you need, but even with a smaller double bed there was not much spare room. The WiFi was good - 85Mbps down & 60Mbps up. The bathroom unfortunately had the previous guest’s poo in the toilet, which was annoying but it flushed away easily. The bathroom door didn’t shut. Food in the restaurant was standard pub fare, but still very nice. No breakfast was available as staff were not on duty first thing.

The bathroom was full of mold, and really needs a deep clean. The breakfast was a continental breakfast left in the room, on the third night it was not renewed, and we had to ask for individual items.

There was black mold in corners. Dirty towels, shoes, work clothes, and cleaning equipment in view on landing at top of staircase and next to staircase. Light at top of staircase flickered. Air in room felt damp. Bathroom was tiny and did not have adequate place to hang towels. Breakfast not available. Entrances unwelcoming. Hotel was and felt very secondary to pub.

It was very comfortable except i couldnt move in the shower room. I thought i had booked B&B and asked before i paid. She said yes but in fact they dont do breakfast. Also had to pay on arrival, which meant i couldnt change venue. However, we were comfortable in bed and warm after 8.30am when the heating came on.

Pros: The huts/pods were really quaint and set back from the pub. In total there were 4 huts sufficiently spaced to allow for privacy. Beautifully made. Inside there is a double bed with side tables. In the corner a TV along with tea and coffee amenities. At the back an en-suite bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. The accommodation was very clean. All very positive so far. Cons: Two important things were failing which lead me to only give 3 stars. 1) Unfortunately the Pirate Inn WiFi didn't extend to the huts which in this day and age is vital. 2) The mattresses were TERRIBLE. Springs sticking in you at night does not make for a relaxing stay. Such a disappointment as the huts were made and laid out beautifully but then furnished with cheap and nasty mattresses. It seemed like they were second hand or bought from a car boot sale. Apparently these huts were only opened in April this year so no excuse.

We stayed 2 nights at The Pirate inn. We arrived around 18:30 and the pub was already busy. The room was small with a double bed and en suite bathroom. The bed was reasonably comfortable but the pillows were very had. The room was clean tea and coffee making facilities were available. On the second night there was live music in the pub and this went on until quite late. We were down visiting relatives and only needed a bed for the 2 nights so completely adequate for our needs. The staff were friendly and the bar food was good.

The staff were very pleasant. Hut/chaket very clean. Bed was very uncomfortable because the mattress sloped diwn at either side. Myst have been cheap and/or old. The wifi didnt work once on any of our 4 devices zuri the 3 day stay. The room was unbearably hot with no way of safely ventilating during he night. Fridge in the room was ridiculously oisy and disturbed what litfle sleeo we had. The sviwer was cold as mu h as it was hot. Wouldn't stay again.

The Pirate Inn is a local pub, and can be quite busy and noisy on a Saturday night, however the atmosphere is great. The location is good - a short walk to the main shopping area. The room was spacious and comfortable. It's a 300 year old pub, so naturally the floors are crooked! We had an excellent three nights at the Pirate Inn. Recommended.

Great size rooms, a bit noisy as they are over the bar but I’m a heavy sleeper. The staff are amazing, very helpful and always friendly. We spent four nights there and loved it

Tiniest en suite, would benefit from a smaller basin. Noise from the bar underneath until 11.45 on a Sunday evening!

I liked the fact that the staff were very happy and helpful. The only small fault I found was that the shower had developed a little leak I reported it and it was seen to. Outside of this minor thing I will book again next time I come back to Penzance 🕉️

Arrived late from train and staff very accommodating. They looked after panniers for a few hours the next day allowing us to cycle lighter around the coast.

Stayed one night before travelling to the Scilly Isles. The room was clean and comfortable and we slept really well. Only briefly interacted with staff, but she was friendly and helpful. I would think it's a nice place to stay longer and on return to the area I'd definitely rebook.

We arrived late and there was no-where open where we could eat . The Pirate Inn was also no longer serving meals but the chef very kindly made us fish and chips which we were very grateful for so top marks to him . All the staff were great and although room basic it was clean and comfortable . We were catching ferry to Isles of Scilly following day and it was ideal as parking for ferry is 5 mins away

Stayed here two nights while hiking the South West Coast Path. The owners were nice enough to accept and hold a parcel for me, with the stuff I didn't want to carry every day while hiking. Nice airy room, very comfortable bed and bedding. The fridge in the room was very much appreciated.

We needed a bed for the night after coming in late from the ferry and leaving early for our train. We just needed a bed and what we got was a really warm welcome and staff that went out of their way to help and welcome us. Also a very cosy bed and hot choc in the room. Thank you :)

Convenient high street location but with no parking, we found a spot on the roadside not far away but can imagine in peak season, this wouldn’t be an option and a public car park would be the choice. Friendly bar staff showed us to our room straight away, it was a pretty tiny double with not much room to move around the bed or in the ensuite, but cosy, clean and comfortable, with mini fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast was provided in a cool bag with cereal, croissants, orange juice, milk etc. We were a little disappointed not to be eating in the pub but what we had was actually fine, just struggled with the space in which to get it prepared! Checked ourselves out with keys left in a box- no fuss. Not a huge choice of places to go for eve meal. The pub below was busy with quiz night and we headed off for pizza at a nearby restaurant.

Very nice room. You've got everything you need for a few days. TV, Selfridge, tea bags, biscuits, coffee, milk, shampoo, shower gel, hair dryer...etc.... It made you feel like at home. Sometimes they will have parties at the common area that you can join as well. Love the band and music! Very easy connection to town - M6 bus within 10 minutes. I would suggest it to anyone who would like to go to Panzence.

On arrival we were met by Elliot the owner who was very jolly and friendly,the inn did home cooking and being a ex chef I found the food was excellent so much so we ate in nearly every night, they had music , also live music on Saturday but this ceased each night by 10.30pm our stay was that good we can’t wait to return next year

Although the deal was room only, we decided to have our evening meal there, let’s just say the Pirate Inn could not claim to be a gastro pub, to be fair it doesn’t but the food could be far better.

The room was good but the shower was difficul to keep an even temperature. Parking was good. The dining experience was ok apart from the table should have been cleaned prior to us sitting down to eat. Which was a shame as the service and food was first class.

We stayed here for one night as we had been to Lands End. We didn’t think there was much in Penzance so decided to go back to the inn for food. We had Fish and Chips and sat in the Garden as the weather was nice. The food was delicious. The staff very friendly and helpful. The Beds were comfy, bathroom a bit small but a great place to stay.
