Taormina is a beautiful town steeped in culture and history, however the Splendid Hotel seems to miss all of that character and in some ways feels a little soulless. It has clearly been refurbished recently and has a modern feel, however when you look a little closer you see that most things are finished poorly - gaps around fixtures / fittings, warped floors, a shower which doesn’t really close properly (leading to a pretty significant leak) - but above all else, the hotel lacks any of the beauty of the town in which it is situated and is instead a sterile white cookie-cutter example of a hotel that could fit in literally anywhere in the world. For some people that might actually be a positive, however Italy has so much to offer and so many hotels and B&Bs achieve the perfect balance of character and modernity. We were encouraged to book a table in the rooftop restaurant as it is frequently full however when we arrived we were only the second couple. The food was ok, but not great value for money. The pool-side bar is also on the expensive side and they didn’t even have the facilities to make a real cappuccino. Additionally, the pool itself isn’t exactly big enough to host the significant number of guests the hotel can accomodate. The breakfast buffet was actually a redeeming quality, ample selection both early and later in the morning, even if having a room directly next to the dining room meant we were woken up at 6:30am by the noise of preparations.

Beautiful views from hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good, on 4th floor overlooking a lovely view. We stayed two nights in November. The only two things that were somewhat frustrating was driving to the hotel. We followed Apple Maps and then changed to google. It took a few trips around town. We opted to pay the 20 Euros extra per night to have valet parking. The hotel room itself was fine but the walls paper thin! We could hear people in the hallway and others talking in rooms around. Not sure if that can be helped in any way.

Hotel was stunning and well located about 5 minute walk from the main strip. under 10 minute walk to the cable cars to go down to beaches. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking was a 25 euros per night (closes at 8pm) but very convenient. They bring your car back and forth for you as needed right to the front door. Breakfast was delicious with spectacular views. Highly Recommend!

Location is terrific, pool has amazing views & bar and snacks. A beautiful property, we did not receipt the room we had requested however I chose not to try to change rooms as we were at the end of our trip. Request a room 2nd floor and up, our 1st floor room was right on the stairs to go to the pool and we had people looking right in our room if the curtains were open and it was the only window… otherwise a nice hotel on the outskirts in a very busy city.

O hotel é decadente, quartos com ar condicionado sem funcionar. As camas são todas de solteiro que juntam e nem colocam nada no meio então fica um buraco no meio da cama. Para conseguir dormir e depois de muita reclamação colocaram uma máquina de ar condicionado de chão, mas que também não funcionava, fazia muito barulho e tinha que deixar a janela aberta, gerando ainda mais barulho, sol dentro do quarto e etc. com certeza é um hotel que não recomendo, tem opções melhores em Taormina. As fotos do hotel e a recepção enganam, pois os quartos são um lixo. Falando de limpeza, o quarto não tinha limpeza embaixo da cama sempre muita poeira. Isso poderia ser classificado como uma pensão. Mas um hotel nunca. O pior hotel que já me hospedei e o pior arrependimento que tive na minha vida foi escolher esse hotel. Estou voltando de um lugar mágico como a Taormina com uma sensação péssima de ter sigo enganado e prejudicado com a cobrança desse hotel que não funciona. O ralo do banheiro estava entupido , quando vc começava o banho já ficava cheio e não baixava rápido. Além disso um outro grande problema , a acústica do hotel era terrível , vc escutava todas as portas do hotel baterem de dentro do seu quarto.

Mooie locatie met prachtige uitzichten en fijne tuin vibe. Hygiene was niet altijd top, zo troffen we een bloedvlek aan op het laken bij binnenkomst. Dit is wel meteen opgelost. Ook behoeft de kamer waarin wij verbleven zeker renovatie. Alles was oud, de kamer was krap en airco rook muf. Ook waren de voegen in de douche beschimmeld en was de badkamer in zijn geheel verouderd. De service was wel top, personeel erg vriendelijk. Personeel bij het zwembad wat minder, die hadden beter langs kunnen komen om drankjes te bezorgen. Valet service is heel fijn, alleen wel erg prijzig voor al een prijzig hotel. Locatie is uitstekend! Centrum van Taormina rol je zo in. Ontbijt kan beter, zoetigheden zijn top, maar de hartige ingredienten zijn niet heel italiaans (waar is de parmaham of mortadella), de yoghurt komt uit een machine en de koffie uit de machine is niet te drinken. Ruimte voor verbetering.

The view from the room was great. However, the room is small, moldy and not very clean. We found hair on the towels. The keys must be left with at the reception everytime you leave but it was ok. The aircon could not be turned high and so it was quite cold in the room. Me and my partner fell sick due to the mold with fever, dizziness and stuffy nose which impacted our holiday in other cities. The staff were good and the location is convenient but I would not recommend due to the mold and cleanliness. There is no free parking. There is a valet parking which can be expensive if you have a car and are staying for many days.

This is a great, easily accessible hotel just off the main strip. You're back in a gated part of the city, so can be a little tricky to find, but the room was clean and accessible, the location is ideally situated (super close to shops and restaurants, but quiet at night) and the staff could not have been nicer. Really nice stay.

We absolutely loved our stay at Splendid and were sad to leave our beautiful room and the amazingly kind and helpful staff. Ivana was especially helpful, but we enjoyed everyone. When my fiancé required medical attention, they called a doctor for him. The room was small but lovely, especially the balcony with the gorgeous view! The location was great. We can’t wait to return.

The property was fine. The staff were great and very helpful. The location was great. The rooms didn't offer much and could use some TLC on some small items. The balcony on the sea view room we stayed in was quite small. View was great. Would I stay here again? This is one of the best hotels I have ever visited. Front desk was exceptional! Ivana made everything easy and provided detailed information about what to see and do. This is a beautiful property, and we had a beautiful room!! However, the staff is the best part about this property. They are kind and helpful. All the staff is great. The breakfast was very good. Beautiful hotel in wonderful location. Very clean and well maintained. Pool area nice , but pool water too warm. Breakfast room was gorgeous and lots to chose from. I loved the proximity away from town a bit but still walkable. Views from pool were nice. Did not like some of staff who were a little snooty. I don’t respond well to attitude. I didn’t let it bother me and enjoyed my stay. Would happily return.

When I first arrived , the room was not OK. It was unusually small with other issues in the bathroom. good news is as soon as I told front desk they switched my room and even followed up to make sure all was good! EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND AWESOME BREAKFAST!

This was a great place to stay: a short walk to all the attractions of Taormina but also quiet. The staff members, especially Ivana at the front desk, were lovely and very helpful. The included breakfast was plentiful and I loved my room. My advice? Stump for a seaview room. You won't be disappointed.

Great view. It was possible to park in the big public parking garage and walk up the stairs in the back of the garage up to the hotel (if you are in shape, otherwise take the free bus). We found this useful. Also everything you want to see and do in Taormina is easy to walk to from this location.

I am a solo female traveler and it was my first time to Siciiy and Taormina. My stay was absolutely wonderful. This hotel is in the best location, so safe for a solo woman, and that breakfast was best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had. I will be staying here everytime I come to Taormina. Staff was the best!

Enjoyed our 4 night stay at the splendid. Found all staff that we came into contact with to be friendly and professional. Our room was clean and comfortable and the view was beautiful. I throughly enjoyed breakfast and loved the scrambled egg. We did use the rooftop bar on a couple of occasions after an evening out and enjoyed the drinks and the service.

We asked to be upgraded to a better room, for extra. No Hotels.com upgrade benefits here. We were happy with the new room size and view. These are old buildings and we understand the challenges. The one person that made our stay perfect was Dario, at the hotel restaurant. Our dinners and breakfasts were perfect thanks to him. His customer service skills were outstanding. The food was excellent. I found parking fees over priced, but oh well.
