The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Lubbock University area provides a convenient location near Texas Tech, but the property itself is showing its age and is in clear need of a refresh. While the location is ideal for visiting campus or attending local games, the overall guest experience is mixed. Check-in was an absolute highlight—smooth, welcoming, and efficient right from the start. However, the rest of the staff interactions throughout the stay were fairly middle-of-the-road. The main drawback is the physical condition of the hotel. The guest rooms and common areas feel outdated, with worn furnishings and decor that make the property feel tired rather than comfortable. It delivers a functional, baseline stay for an overnight trip, but until comprehensive updates and renovations are made, it falls short of the polished standard usually expected from the brand.

Hotel itself was great--clean, comfortable, kids enjoyed the pool. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant is obviously very popular (although we didn't have opportunity to try it). The location is probably fine but felt a little questionable (I do not know the city at all). Maybe there are nicer things in the area--only saw the immediate area. But--it was convenient for our travels and would stay there again (but, I left nothing in my car, just in case).

It was nice. The balcony on our room is what made it worth it.
