Suggest to put a shower in for the pool and encourage patrons to shower first. Pool is a bit dirty water with lint and hair floating. Children were also entering the tiled area in muddy shoes.

The hotel and rooms were clean, staff were friendly, beds were comfortable, breakfast was good (typical free breakfast type stuff). It seems to be a fairly new hotel. The walls seemed a little thin - we didn’t hear our neighbours, but my husband has a big voice and they heard us. The first day we used the pool it was nice, but the second and third days it was cold. The area is a commercial area, but there were places to eat nearby and it was central to the activities we had planned. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Courtenay for 2 nights. The facility is brand new and nice and bright looking on the inside with well lit hallways. The room I had was nice with 2 queen beds and a tub in the bathroom which I had requested. The bed was comfortable the the room was nice and quiet at night. The cleanliness in the bathroom was ok but there was hairs in the bathtub and also it looked like toothpaste stuck in a blob on the floor. The other thing that was inconvenient was that you could not reach the soap or shampoo dispensers while sitting in the bathtub as they were attached high up on the wall. I would suggest that in the rooms with tubs that they supply a bar of soap to use. The main carpet in the room was also not very clean with bits of stuff not vacuumed up. They did serve a good breakfast in the morning with a good choice of hot and cold items.

Housekeeping never came even after requesting just to take garbage. Understood had to ask for more towels which i did. Dishes (not mine) sat outside the door for days until i brought them diwn myself. The hotel is nice and new .. grounds are nice and breakfast offered was decent .

Our room was a wheelchair accessible room. The shower base was dirty, should be scrubbed and bleached so it is white. After the room was sort of cleaned there were shoe prints in the shower. It was very noisy. You could hear someone going to the bathroom above us and you could hear doors opening and closing constantly VERY early in the am.

I always stay at this hotel when travelling through the area for work. Very clean, breakfast included, spacious rooms, it checks all the boxes. The room I checked into had not been cleaned, returned to the front desk and was immediately given a new one with profuse apologies. I could not get the tv to work due to password issue, asked for it to be fixed while I was out picking up dinner and all taken care of upon my return. I’ll be back, of course.

Excellent quality for the price with the exception of the constant noise coming from the vent in the wall. It's no worse than the A/C unit which is standard at all similar hotels. We didn't need the A/C though as the room kept cool even with all the heat outside and I wish the night would have been more quiet. The mountain view is fantastic perfect for a glass of wine at sunset.

Television did not work. Would not connect to internet and the only options were Netflix or Prime along with “ Telus TV” none of which worked. Staff advised twice on two separate days, they were friendly, but the problem wasn’t fixed

Clean and minimal modern rooms. Comfy beds. Some wierd things were that a room key had to be placed in a slot in order to turn on a bathroom light. Also there was a loud fan noise in room 426 that was louder than my husbands snoring. It was a constant noise but I could hear it through the earplugs.

This is a new style hotel where the key card has to be left inserted at the door which I did not understand at first. The bathroom lights turned off while I was in there. I did not like that the fridge was warm and had to be brought up to temp causing lots of noise while I was trying yo sleep. I could not figure out how to turn on the desk lamp nor turn off the wardrobe light so I had to call front desk for help. Once I was made aware of these things it was OK but there should be some indication of how things work in the room itself in case the front desk forgets to tell you everything you may need to know.

Front desk staff were friendly. We had room on the fourth floor at the end of the hall. If you are a light sleeper, request another room as it is beside the stairwell and you can hear people from the bed. Bed was too soft for my liking. Room was very spacious with a good layout. Breakfast offerings were not very appealing. Yogurt and orange juice were the best of what was available.

Staff is excellent, friendly and courteous. Corner rooms facing the main street can be very noisy as there is a traffic light where vehicles accelerate to go up a big hill.

Overall the stay was decent, however the manager when we first checked in was rude and not being very understanding, however he did help us figure it out eventually and then there was no issue. The stay was good, breakfast was good except the eggs and then when we left they were accusing us of smoking in the room because we rolled out smoke before taking it outside. My friend almost didn't get her deposit back and we were just not impressed with the accusations, as we are respectful people and would never smoke in the room.

Hockey playing in hallways, kids knocking on doors swearing and throwing stuff at guest doors- staff left it up to guests to monitor chaos and noise- (chaperones sitting around lobby while their team roamed the hotel) It was only an older youth from another team who was willing to point out which ones were the problem. If security had been monitoring none of it would happen. The zero for cleanliness is the bathroom floor wasn’t washed at all.

Staff and security left it to guests to monitor group of kids running around playing hockey in the hallways. When I told them hotels are places ppl go to sleep older kids told me it was a younger team down the hall. After I complained to the front desk the kids started banging in my door swearing. Their parents/chaperones just let them run wild and the manager later explained the coach covered for them saying it was just hockey pucks bangjng doors. Hockey takes discipline and guest services should be on top of this rather than letting guests take the brunt. I choose comfort inn normally - there’s never these problems there.

The hotel clerk when we came in Anna was fabulous and accommodating a room that we needed. We are flying out early in the morning and she put us in a lovely quiet room. My husband and I were actually shocked that a Holiday Inn express could be so nice.

Unfortunately it took almost 2 hours to get checked in as their system wasn’t showing we had paid, even though we could prove it on the receipt. The rooms were nice, and the bed was very comfortable! The breakfast was a great addition too!

Room was close to the road and quite noisy when traffic was accelerating away from the stop light. Breakfast options are not very good. Scrambled eggs and beans were bad. Sausage, hard boiled agh and yogurt were good. Stay elsewhere if you want a quiet nights rest.

The hotel was clean, convenient and had cool features like an energy saving system that required guests to enter their key card for electricity. The breakfast was good, however they ran out of items a half hour before end time. Another small critique, is that there could be improvements in their sustainability practices. No compost at breakfast and lots of single use plastics. I would have preferred more reusable cups and glasses. More natural bath products would be a bonus. Overall- the pool was amazing, gym was great, rooms were modern and clean and hospitality was fantastic.

The front desk staff were very nice, helped with early check in and to sign up for rewards. Room was clean and dpacious. Love the dispensers for soaps, lotions and shampoo's. Would like to see shower caps offered though for ladies. Breakfast was no great, the lady working at it tried to keep up but she could have used help during rushes. The food was inconsistent, the eggs - not good, sausage so-so and bacon very good. Check out smooth and easy. Would return for sure.
