The Genevieve

The Genevieve is back to it's high standard of what a boutique hotel should be. And even better, it is affordable. You don't feel cheated. The on-site dining is delicious and convenient, and Santa Ynez has nice walk-able stores and shopping. Or use one of the hotel bikes! Take advantage of the complimentary wine tasting perks. Bring your appetite and unplug.

Magnificent! Everything about this hotel is wonderful, it is an underrated, first class, gem. The rates are very reasonable, making it an exceptional value. We stayed at two different hotels on this trip the Genevieve and another, both similarly rated. However, the Genevieve was miles ahead on every level. I’ve stayed at some very fine hotels, in many parts of the world and The Genevieve is right up with the best of them. The nice thing about this hotel, it has all that you would expect from a luxurious, first class accommodation, but without the pretentiousness. It is quiet, comfortable, a place you immediately feel relaxed. The architecture, grounds and interior are beautiful, private and accommodating. The only unfortunate thing, our stay was on the two days The Victor is closed, won’t make that mistake on our next visit.

room was spacious and elegant with fireplace, enchanting patio. there were several outdoor seating areas with fire rings. there was a social hour with wine and cheeses. beautiful chandeliers throughout and artistic glass in doors etc.

Beautiful big room with timed fireplace! The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom huge. Public spaces including the restaurant and library were beautiful. So we’re the entry space with staircase and outdoor garden. The staff were very nice. Would definitely stay there again.

The stay here was very good. Hotels.com needs to clearly state to contact hotel directly if bringing a pet. Hotel has no place on site nor nearby for pet relief. For this level of accommodation, the shower and jetted bathtub should be in working order. Great breakfast and peaceful grounds.

Nice, quiet, comfortable room. Great bathtub. Reception staff a bit cold and unwelcoming. Wine before dinner just ok. Desert between 8-9 really bad, with packaged cookies. Charger for Tesla not functioning during our two day stay.

We enjoyed all the amenities, fireplaces throughout the hotel garden, rooms, and dining area made it a more relaxing experience.

Ridiculous that payment was required for using the safe. We paid top dollar for this property, including a resort fee!!! Other than that, it was a lovely stay.

This was one of our best experiences in boutique Hotels. First..location..walking distance to several EXCELLENT restaurants (and I mean a few steps..not a winded "i gotta use the bathroom to freshen up and recomb my hair and wash off the sweat" walks.) Gorgeous rooms with A LOT OF SPACE (for all those cases of wine you'll be buying) Breakfast served from 7am to 10am! (Yes..they accommodate sleepheads) and its FANTASTIC! A new menu every morning with 2 options of GOURMET made to order dishes alongside freshly baked pastries, muffins, the freshest of fruit, yogurt and granola every morning. Juice, coffee and mimosas galore. The best part of breakfast every morning...DANTE our server!! Beyond service oriented and friendly! Loved seeing him every morning for a week (btw..a huge baseball Boston Red Sox fan) Dante and breakfast brings up the Genevieve to a whole new level. Other amenities include 5 oclock happy hour with local wines and an assortment of cheese and crackers, as well as late night desserts, all served in a beautiful parlor that rivals Downton Abbey. Theres a stately library for Whiskey lovers, chess and checkers as well as a beautiful manicured lawn of which to play corn hole, or sip your wine by one of 3 firepits including an outdoor brick fireplace. For a very fair price, you can have a cold split of Moet champagne brought to your room (i love FRENCH Champs) Upon check in, you are given a Passport to over 20 wineries that will give you complimentary tastings. Everything was perfect. The room, was large, clean, had a comfy bed, and had all the comforts you could ask for. The staff was amazing. The property was lovely, very quaint and extremely quiet and relaxing. We really enjoyed the breakfast they served. I would def. recommend this hotel.

Coffee maker did not work. Iron was dirty and damaged my shirt. Jacuzzi tub jets would never turn off, even after the tub was fully drained. The breakfast was super disappointing - not on par for a bed and breakfast at $360/ night with an additional $40 per day resort fee.

Had a very enjoyable stay. Rooms were clean and comfortable and luxurious. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast and wine and cheese for happy hour were lovely. The only thing I thought was lacking was the staff. They didn’t seem very friendly or attentive.

The service was great and I would say the overall condition of the property was very good. However, we had a couple of issues that were a little disappointing. My wife spotted stains on the carpet the second we opened the door. This stay was for our anniversary, so not the best start. Then we went to close the sliding pocket door to the toilet and it would not move more than 6-8 inches and became completely jammed. We're 9 years married, so not the end of the world. But we still enjoy privacy for certain "business" so again, not ideal. Otherwise, I'm glad we visited the area and the hotel. Compared to other options in the Solvang area, this is a nice area and more upscale than most options. If we were staying more than the one night I would have probably asked for a different room or for the door to be fixed. Hopefully they can get a small carpet cleaner to take care of the stains as well.

The hotel was older but very nice. Rooms were big and very clean. I would definitely stay here again. If I had one critique it would be to upgrade the showers. Use the new circular style rods to give more room.

This was our first time staying at The Genevieve. We were very pleased with our room and appreciated having two valets to use! Bathroom was spacious (though could have used more lighting) and nice having a balcony. Breakfast was included and bikes were available for use. Location was perfect as we were attending an event at Gainey Winery, which was just down the street.

Nice facility over all Bad was extremely uncomfortable, the mattress was going on angle to the middle, and when told the front desk about it, wouldn’t get any interest and wave me off.

Loved our stay. Room with a fireplace was beautifully appointed with an immense bathroom. The breakfast was delightful with many selections and the evening wine was cozy by its beautiful fireplace.

Excellent location in Santa Ynez area. The hotel is very high-end traditional design. Our room, located on the main floor, had a wonderful high ceiling, huge bathroom, fireplace, and ample room to stretch out. We loved the room and the main areas of the hotel. We booked through Hotels.com and do not like that the pet fee for some hotels doesn't show up (but it does for some, so not sure if it's a hotel issue or hotels.com?). It's irritating to spend $350 on a room for a night and get hit with a $100 pet fee on top of that. Our dog is not $100 worth of effort to clean-up after and I'm sure it's per stay, but it's ridiculous to charge that for 1 night.

Everything was perfect. The room, was large, clean, had a comfy bed, and had all the comforts you could ask for. The staff was amazing. The property was lovely, very quaint and extremely quiet and relaxing. We really enjoyed the breakfast they served. I would def. recommend this hotel.

The room was beautiful! The staff members could use some training on being “hosts” since this is an Hotel not a Motel 6. They were not rude just not warm and welcoming. The breakfast was again substandard for a Hotel.

Love that you can play the music in each individual room and control the volume. The bathtub is so fun and the shower has a steamer function. Breakfast was decent and the fireplaces around the property are a nice touch. Wish the front desk staff had been a little more friendly however. They were nice, but cordial. They didn’t acknowledge our anniversary at any point also even though I put it on our reservation which I though was odd. Even just a nice note in the room would have been a nice touch but they didn’t do that. They also basically just handed me a paper with all the amenities rather than explaining everything to us at check in. So in general, I wish the front desk staff were more friendly.

Fantastic boutique hotel located in the Santa Ynez Valley wine country! Quiet, elegant, clean and airy. We had a fantastic time. Well located within a short drive to everything the Valley has to offer!

Beautiful hotel and location

The area was conveniently located to shops, restaurants and various wineries. Our room was quiet, didn't hear traffic noise but landscaping work could have been done a bit later in the day. The daily breakfast were delicious with varied menu. The happy hour was also good with white and red wine and excellent charcuterie. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Loved the French-inspired decor. A great romantic couples retreat, close to Solvang without the crowd, traffic and craziness. Staff was super attentive. Will definitely stay again!

Stayed in King Luxe, Premises were very nice, as was the hotel itself. Only disappointment was the food service. They have a big dining room with a roaring fire, but really two choices on menu, and the sandwich was quite lacking. Whatever the Victor is supposed to be, ultimately meals were at Olsen's in Solvang in the mornings, and SY Kitchen for dinner. Would still definitely go back to stay.

Wonderful property. Incredible stay, great service, very elegant room and the breakfast was very delicious. Close to wineries and great places to eat. Highly recommend this boutique bed and breakfast.
