The house had a beautiful view and the screen porch was very nice for both us and the dogs to walk in and out of! We would have liked a little more seating but overall it was a great place!

We were really looking forward to our stay but did not use the property because it wasn’t in the condition we expected. There was an offensive odor throughout, surfaces felt sticky, and the cottage seemed more run down than the photos suggested. The outside grounds were poorly maintained, including the walkway, dock, and stairs, and the kayaks were filthy. Indoor furniture was old and dingy, and the seating area was in poor condition. We let the host know right away, and while they offered to send cleaners, we had only booked two nights, so that would have been at best a modest improvement halfway through. We had already decided not to remain because it didn’t feel comfortable. We also requested a partial refund, which was not offered. The host was responsive, but the experience was disappointing. Future guests should be aware that the property does not meet the standards shown in the listing.

We expected a lake that we could swim in and kayak from, as that's how it was advertised. It was extremely disappointing. The water was a swampy bog. My husband spent a lot of time just shoveling out the muck, so there was a spot to step in just to get into our kayaks. The dock was unsafe; it was not secure, plus there were rotting boards. The railings leading down from the driveway to the house, were inadequate, and completely unstable, and unsafe. The charcoal grill was not usable in my opinion. I didn't expect to rent a house on the water, and have to drive 30 minutes to find a place to swim and kayak. This house was certainly not worth the money we paid!!

Less than it was hyped to be! The reviews that gave it eight 8 1/2 nine points out of 10 clearly fraudulent. MANY Statments100% untrue like "lots of comfortable seating". there was not one comfortable seat inteh whole palce except a plastic Adirondac chair on the proch. the couch was terrible. the only other inside seating were dining high bar stool type chairs not comfortable for many seniors. to be fair there is a clear attempt to hag stylish clean place but it is not quite there. yet. BBQ utelsils were excellent but the bbq itself is charcoal was a very rusty grate and no charcoal, fluid or lighter. the upstairs is quite nice as it the bathroom. the downstairs bedroom is OK. Screen porch with tears letting in bugs. pots and pans are terrible. i got poison ivy while I was there it's right in front of the parking mixed in with the viy hedge. the first three stape from the driveway has not hand rail and a retaining board that is easy to trip on for us in our 70's. the rest of the stairs are well lit.. Great shower. AC works well butmust leave on while away if a hot day. the area is great with lots to see and do. go to the red 36 restaurant really great seafood and view from the deck. the lake is not swampy. the cove you are on has some lily pads but the water is clean. and clear for 6 feet. No boats seen on the lake the dock is too small for a boat and you cannot get out of the lake to the river.

We had a wonderful stay. Very peaceful, quiet, beautiful views. We also really enjoyed Hopeville Pond State Park which was only a 5 min drive.
