The host allowed for an early check-in, which was incredibly helpful. The location and size of the home to have spaciousness for our extended family gathering were perfect. Most of the beds seemed to be fine, according to my family, but mine was not comfortable (the one hidden in the corner between a bedroom and a bathroom). The showers were a bit awkward. One was very small and the other was part of a claw-foot tub. It was charming, but challenging to get in and out of. Especially for an elderly person. Overall, a great location and lovely size and lots of charm and beautiful piano and lots of books to read and games to play! A great family home.

A perfect home base for our family vacation. The Captain’s House is a wonderful old home on a beautiful dead end street - walking distance to downtown Damariscotta and easy access to Boothbay and Pemaquid. The owner, Melanie, was quick to respond and accommodating. We loved it!

The captain’s house is on a beautiful street full of stately old homes and just a 10 minute walk across the bridge to Damariscotta. The house is roomy and comfortable and has a gorgeous front porch where you can sit and watch the people passing by and look out over the river. We love it there. This is our fourth stay.
