Gene's Retreat, charming lakeside 3 bed 2 bath peaceful home near Ft Gibson Lake

The place was more run down than I expected. One bathroom didn't have a door on it. It had a curtain covering the entrance of the bathroom. The shower in the master bathroom was very small and definitely needed replacing as the walls were peeling. The washing machine sounded like it was going to walk out of the room when we used it, The refrigerator needs to be replaced. By turning it to the coldest setting, it kept our food cold but the freezer did not keep the frozen food frozen. Only had to 2 ice trays and filled them up on Tuesday and they still weren't frozen when we left on Thursday. Several places in the floor felt like we were going to go through the floor. One corner of the floor in the kitchen was wet when we got there and still wet when we left, The kitchen was not well stocked with dishes and silverware. There were plenty of knives. but only a few spoons and no forks. Luckily, I had brought plastic with me as we planned picnic lunches a couple of days. I definitely didn't get what I expected from the pictures and reviews that I had read before I booked. To leave on a positive: the yard was beautiful and supplies were plentiful.

Clean nice quiet location. Well equipped.

The accommodations were pleasant and peaceful. Spacious and homey atmosphere that was welcoming. Would recommend it to friends and family. Look forward to returning for future visits.

Wonderful stay on this property with the beautiful wide open spaces and a wonderful yard to play in. A stay away from town by the lake is just what we needed.
