Stayed 4 nights

The Mill Cottage is a lovely historic but restored house on a private street, not hard to find. The house was absolutely lovely. The screened porch was my favorite part - sitting out listening to the nighttime frog chorus without any bugs! The house was clean and spacious, plenty of room for the kids. We cooked breakfasts - tea and coffee and a few other essentials are provided, as well as all the kitchen gear you might need. We used the gas grill, and the fire pit, and the host ensure both were stocked and ready to go. The house has good wifi but terrible cell service, so ensure you are set up for both wifi calling and messaging. (The host keeps a land line in case of emergency.) The location was great - we were there to have water activities on the Haw River, and the house was near all of that. Saxapahaw and Pittboro, close by, have great restaurants. The only downside was our reservation was during the drought of the century, so the spillway waterfall over the dam was not working - obviously not the fault of the hosts, but something to check if that's important to you. A better path down to the creek would have been welcome for kids to rock hop. But overall it's a lovely place and an amazing stay and we would definitely book it again!

This property allowed my family & I to truly disconnect from the busy world & become present. We cooked, we danced, we swam & we spend quality time with each other - not to mention the scenery is beyond gorgeous!
