This property has the most beautiful beach and pools with plenty of chairs. It is clean and well maintained. They are seriously understaffed with the evening buffet actually not having food out first evening- it was picked clean. We ate at the ala carte restaurants in the evening all other dinners and we were happy. The line for the bar is deep because there is is one person tending bar and four people washing cups. Count on the fact your room won’t be ready- my husband says it part of the experience. Some employees can be really rude - but there are others who really make up for it. We’ve stayed at the property six or seven times over the past decade. We love the beach - it’s the best!

Out dated. Food poor to average. Pools are nice. Pool towel system needs to be changed. Lack of drink one is able to bring back to room is very lacking if non existent.

Overall it’s an average resort. The food at the buffet is alright, warm but not hot. The food at the a la carte restaurant was like 9/10, very good. We came from USA, didn’t really have issues with language. We know minimal Spanish phrases, most staff tried or knew English. The pools are cool, none of the hot tubs worked. The shows are very late. Don’t start till after 10pm. It is extremely loud at night. We stayed in a garden view bungalow. The music is loud and pounding till midnight 1 am ish. And you can hear it clearly in your room. Bring ear plugs! The room was ok, was supposed to have a king bed but didn’t. But we barely spent anytime in the room. The WiFi is really good on the beach and main pool areas/restaurants. WiFi did not work in our room. We always felt safe, and staff was friendly. Avoid the information/concierge area! We literally took the long way walking to avoid them, tried to get us to sit through the 5 hour sales pitch. Then called our room when we didn’t go! The shops are nice, have lots of good souvenirs. The gelato shop is good, it is extra money but it’s cheap. I found all the mixed drinks to be delicious, and had been asked by several bartenders if I wanted the drink strong! We did tip for housekeeping and dinners, but overall not many people were tipping at all. The La Hacienda 7 in 1 park excursion was great. Beach bungalow is only way to book this property! Amazing to be able to sit on porch at ocean and walk right onto beach. Caribbean water is great, very clear, snorkeling is good, very enjoyable swimming for all ages. No seaweed!!! Food needs improvements, buffets and sit down restaurants are average at best. Reservation restaurants were just dressed up buffet selections. Didn’t like the full self-service thing they have going on with buffet, I understand there is a lot of people but I spent more time getting my family drinks, tracking down napkins/utensils than I did eating. At least have tables turned around quickly. Seemed understaffed. Pools were too small for amount of people here. The set up with resort and it’s VIP/Super VIP was confusing and annoying so we just went anywhere we wanted, I’m fairly certain we sat in VIP area of entire stay. This place is very loud at night and blasts music until midnight at least. Didn’t like that there were no shade options outside of VIP areas on beach, people just huddle up around trees and put their towels on prime chairs to not be there the entire day. No shade at pools either. English is the least spoken language here, it’s a European resort chain, which took getting used to with questions. Traveled with spouse, 5yr old and infant. Viva Palace is beside Viva Beach hotel so that you can walk the charming treed walkway between the two properties. Both sites have nightly entertainment - singers, dancing and theatre from 8 to midnight with s disco after hours. International clientele and lots of young families. All sorts of shaded and sunny beach sites. Finally beach is located in a calm bay so lots of ppl in the water all day long.

This is a very well-maintained property, with an extensive beach and many different restaurants, snack bars, and cocktail bars, as well as multiple swimming pools. The lady that cleaned our room every day, Yesenia R., did an excellent job and always left us with a beautiful bird constructed from towels and sheets, with flowers and greenery. All of the staff that we encountered were friendly and kind, and they all work very, very hard. The little shopping area within the Palace compound had a wonderful coffee shop. It was also really cool to see all the birds, including a flock of flamingos, wandering around the property, as well as some iguanas. There are multiple specialty restaurants in both the Palace compound, and within Dominicus Beach (which guests at the Palace may use); my personal favorite was the Italian restaurant, Il Palco. 25 is also very good (for steak) and Viva Mexico had delicious fajitas. We had wonderful massages on the beach from the spa. While it was not a concern for my husband and me, or the friends with whom we travelled, the rooms do show some wear and tear, which I feel is to be expected. The spotless attention to detail by the cleaning crews made up for that small criticism. The compound was safe, with an obvious presence of security. The beds are very comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well, which was much appreciated, given the very high humidity at this time of year. This is a great place to take an all-inclusive beach vacation.

We were here two years ago and everything was very nice. However, upon coming back they have now went to a VIP or timeshare status. You will be approached several times a day about being a VIP member with them. They now have huge sections of the beach and the seating area outside roped off reserved for just the VIP leaving very little space for others. Very few people were in the VIP areas. Their entertainment started at 11:00 at night so if you were staying in a room close to the entertainment that's all you heard. For this resort to be truly amazing I would recommend they get rid of the VIP part of it. Also, there was very little to do as far as short excursions. The dive shop was fantastic!

Loved it here. The hotel is huge, much bigger than we were expecting but never felt crowded even during a peak week. Lots of amenities and activities to keep the kids busy and a beautiful location. Every member of staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a bit basic but very clean. The only real downside was the food in the buffet could be a bit bland. The food in the other restaurants and snack bars was much better. Highly recommended.

From the first day, our experience at this hotel was negative, with multiple deficiencies that severely affected our stay: Room in terrible condition: upon arrival, there were mosquitoes, the air conditioning was not working, the smell of tobacco was unbearable, the Wi-Fi signal did not reach the room, and right outside our door there was an ashtray with trash, cigarette butts, and used glasses that remained there for more than a day. Poor food quality throughout the entire stay. Lack of effective response: despite several complaints made both at the front desk and to the guest service manager, we were only moved to another room the next day. It was slightly better, but the problems continued. Hotel facilities in deplorable condition: Dirty tables in the beach area. Unclean public restrooms. Unprofessional staff. Neglected lobby with stained seats and a strong smell of cigarette smoke. I have photographs supporting each of the points mentioned above. In conclusion, the overall experience was extremely unpleasant and far below what was promised. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.

The hotel is a lot older than what the pictures show. There was no AC in my room, the bedding smelled like it was left in the washer, there were fleas on the bedding not ants fleas I had 2 on me. The food definitely not appealing at all I don’t recommend buffet. The restaurants are “always booked” so they won’t seat you although it’s empty we had to convince reservation team to give us what they could. The 2 restaurants we went to one was hot the AC was not on and the other portion size was less than 4 oz. The front desk girls were absolutely horrendous with attitude and the general manager would not come out to see me when I requested a new room. I asked for my money back to go else where and they denied my request no reason in particular. The barrooms had mold, toilet didn’t flush, shower faucet broke…. Our safe broke as well and took 2 hours to fix 5 people had to come and fix. I have not a single good thing to say about this resort I will not be returning and would never recommend this hotel. Stayed in a beach front bungalow near the Tiki Bar; it was perfect for a family of 4, 2 of which are teens. It was updated, clean and quiet. The resort is beautiful and very clean. The primary languages spoken were Spanish and Italian; very few people spoke English. The food was more European based, nothing fried and we found to be just mediocre although the buffet displays were beautiful. Epifanio and Juan in the information center were fantastic and very welcoming. Waddy in the water sports area was very helpful and kind in helping with kayaks and the catamaran.
Stayed in a beach front bungalow near the Tiki Bar; it was perfect for a family of 4, 2 of which are teens. It was updated, clean and quiet. The resort is beautiful and very clean. The primary languages spoken were Spanish and Italian; very few people spoke English. The food was more European based, nothing fried and we found to be just mediocre although the buffet displays were beautiful. Epifanio and Juan in the information center were fantastic and very welcoming. Waddy in the water sports area was very helpful and kind in helping with kayaks and the catamaran.

1: I didn’t get the accommodations I paid for 2: The unit I was in smelled like sewage 3: some of the people at the reception desk were not friendly or had enough tactics to deal with people (very rude) 4: after days of me trying to get the problem resolved by talking to different people, managers the problem never got resolved 5: when they finally have the time to get to my difficulties it was too late to change rooms I got here on Thursday to leave on Wednesday they asked me if I wanted to move to a different room on Monday afternoon, by then what was the purpose of moving for just a day. So overall I am very disappointed with this property; I don’t know if I will come back to this specific one next time.

This is a very well-maintained property, with an extensive beach and many different restaurants, snack bars, and cocktail bars, as well as multiple swimming pools. The lady that cleaned our room every day, Yesenia R., did an excellent job and always left us with a beautiful bird constructed from towels and sheets, with flowers and greenery. All of the staff that we encountered were friendly and kind, and they all work very, very hard. The little shopping area within the Palace compound had a wonderful coffee shop. It was also really cool to see all the birds, including a flock of flamingos, wandering around the property, as well as some iguanas. There are multiple specialty restaurants in both the Palace compound, and within Dominicus Beach (which guests at the Palace may use); my personal favorite was the Italian restaurant, Il Palco. 25 is also very good (for steak) and Viva Mexico had delicious fajitas. We had wonderful massages on the beach from the spa. While it was not a concern for my husband and me, or the friends with whom we travelled, the rooms do show some wear and tear, which I feel is to be expected. The spotless attention to detail by the cleaning crews made up for that small criticism. The compound was safe, with an obvious presence of security. The beds are very comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well, which was much appreciated, given the very high humidity at this time of year. This is a great place to take an all-inclusive beach vacation.

Having a bungalow right on the beach is super nice but the shower drains super slow because you are on sand and the air conditioning is severely lacking so it feels a little like camping but the location is worth it to the water. The food is honestly the worst I have had at any resort to date and surprisingly the buffet was significantly better than any of the restaurants we tried. It is also really annoying to have a VIP and SUPER VIP and sister resort only amenities. Just charge one price for everything and call it good. I was never asked once if I wanted a drink while around the pool or on the beach so you do save in tipping

Our room wasn’t ready for over an hour after check in time. The bathroom ceiling was leaking from the air conditioner the entire 5 days and we reported it 3 times and nothing was done about it. Not much help with English speaking for any staff to help with information on the property and directions. All activities were done in Spanish making it impossible to participate.

Overall it’s an average resort. The food at the buffet is alright, warm but not hot. The food at the a la carte restaurant was like 9/10, very good. We came from USA, didn’t really have issues with language. We know minimal Spanish phrases, most staff tried or knew English. The pools are cool, none of the hot tubs worked. The shows are very late. Don’t start till after 10pm. It is extremely loud at night. We stayed in a garden view bungalow. The music is loud and pounding till midnight 1 am ish. And you can hear it clearly in your room. Bring ear plugs! The room was ok, was supposed to have a king bed but didn’t. But we barely spent anytime in the room. The WiFi is really good on the beach and main pool areas/restaurants. WiFi did not work in our room. We always felt safe, and staff was friendly. Avoid the information/concierge area! We literally took the long way walking to avoid them, tried to get us to sit through the 5 hour sales pitch. Then called our room when we didn’t go! The shops are nice, have lots of good souvenirs. The gelato shop is good, it is extra money but it’s cheap. I found all the mixed drinks to be delicious, and had been asked by several bartenders if I wanted the drink strong! To be fair, the beach and water is fantastic! Our Bungalow on the beach was just a few steps away from the sand and the view was beautiful. However,if you’re going there to enjoy the food, look elsewhere. Sure you can poke around the buffet and find something, fresh fruit and pasta of some kind. If you want serenity, make sure you request a room/bungalow away from the main pool on the Beach side of the resort. LOUD music everyday towards late afternoon and then again night time up until midnight. I’m not a prude but it was over the top. When we first arrived, the ac in our room wasn’t working. We called the front desk to report it. They said they would send maintenance right away. 2 hours later and no one. My husband is a HVAC tech and knew what the issue was so we strolled to the front desk. They looked at us like we were crazy because “apparently “ the maintenance man had been there. We told them we were there the whole time and no one came. We requested a new room if this wasn’t fixed by the time we got back from dinner. NOT FIXED. Went to the front again, now we are patient but this is ridiculous. She radioed the guy and he was outside our bungalow. Hubby helped to fix it. Oh and you also will be hounded to attend a sit down so they can try to sell you a membership. Thousands and thousands of dollars, for 10-30 years locked in. I love the heat, sun and the beach so hubby, kids and I took the good with the bad. Most likely wouldn’t return. Will try another resort.

We loved our oceanview bungalow! It was so nice to walk right out to the beach with shade from the palms. The view from the infinity pools was amazing! The stores are affordable with snacks and all we needed. The Saona excursion was one of the most beautiful beach I have seen! I was not impressed with the food, just okay. The A/C stopped working each day with one of the bungalows so maintenance was working on it each day. Viva has a Hard working staff and we loved our stay!

This property has the most beautiful beach and pools with plenty of chairs. It is clean and well maintained. They are seriously understaffed with the evening buffet actually not having food out first evening- it was picked clean. We ate at the ala carte restaurants in the evening all other dinners and we were happy. The line for the bar is deep because there is is one person tending bar and four people washing cups. Count on the fact your room won’t be ready- my husband says it part of the experience. Some employees can be really rude - but there are others who really make up for it. We’ve stayed at the property six or seven times over the past decade. We love the beach - it’s the best!

I have been to this property three times. I was married there five years ago and they did a phenomenal job then. When I returned this time they upgraded my room sent my wife and I a bottle of wine and some fruit. Some of the cleaners that clean the rooms decided to put flowers on the bed which my wife really loved. As I said I've been there three times I don't think I need to describe how unbelievable the property and services are there or I wouldn't be there three times. From the first day, our experience at this hotel was negative, with multiple deficiencies that severely affected our stay: Room in terrible condition: upon arrival, there were mosquitoes, the air conditioning was not working, the smell of tobacco was unbearable, the Wi-Fi signal did not reach the room, and right outside our door there was an ashtray with trash, cigarette butts, and used glasses that remained there for more than a day. Poor food quality throughout the entire stay. Lack of effective response: despite several complaints made both at the front desk and to the guest service manager, we were only moved to another room the next day. It was slightly better, but the problems continued. Hotel facilities in deplorable condition: Dirty tables in the beach area. Unclean public restrooms. Unprofessional staff. The property was gorgeous and lots to do and animations for the kids. We all had a great time. The Santa coming on a boat to the resort and handing gifts to every single children was a nice touch. Friendly staff and all multilingual. Not pushy like other timeshare resorts.

To preface this review, I have stayed at many all inclusive resorts including iberostars and secret resorts. If you are not Italian or Spanish, I would not recommend this resort. Personally, I will not be coming back or staying at any other Viva resort. To be fair, lets start with the pros of the resort: very nice beach and beautiful water activities like archery, kayaking, and paddle boarding included (with a time limit). the seafood restaurant and French restaurant were good. Now let’s discuss the cons: - wifi did not work in the room we were staying in and was very spotty throughout resort. - staff in green shirts will harass you and try to sell you things (timeshares, upgraded memberships) MULTIPLE TIMES PER DAY. My husband and I were harassed every day of our trip, when we were trying to relax and have a good time. The green shirts even tried asking for our room number! - the food overall was not great. Definitely below average and some things were very gross and old-looking. Some people we came to the resort with got sick from the food. - the drinks are not strong and will not get you buzzed unless you drink straight liquor. And you do not want to know how those drink cups are washed… it’s not sanitary. - the shower water was sometimes not hot. - there were roaches on the property, but we were on a higher floor in the building so we thankfully didn’t get any in our room. - staff is rude / not helpful to English speakers.

Front desk staff was not very welcoming. He didn’t guide us properly or inform us of anything. My fiancè bracelet broke off but had it on his swimsuit packet and the security person try to kick him out of the property even though my fiancé had showing him the bracelet, explaining to him that it had broken off. This is my third time visiting but I notice a radical change with the customer service. Manager is none existent. The manage even ignore the Experian agent that called to resolve the issue. The service in the restaurant is a hit or missed. You might get very attentive service but you might also get those that will let the plates pile up on the table and ignore you completely.

You will be approached several times a day about being a VIP member with them. They now have huge sections of the beach and the seating area outside roped off reserved for just the VIP leaving very little space for others. Very few people were in the VIP areas. Their entertainment started at 11:00 at night so if you were staying in a room close to the entertainment that's all you heard. For this resort to be truly amazing I would recommend they get rid of the VIP part of it. Also, there was very little to do as far as short excursions. The dive shop was fantastic!

This property has the most beautiful beach and pools with plenty of chairs. It is clean and well maintained. They are seriously understaffed with the evening buffet actually not having food out first evening- it was picked clean. We ate at the ala carte restaurants in the evening all other dinners and we were happy. The line for the bar is deep because there is is one person tending bar and four people washing cups. Count on the fact your room won’t be ready- my husband says it part of the experience. Some employees can be really rude - but there are others who really make up for it. We’ve stayed at the property six or seven times over the past decade. We love the beach - it’s the best!

To be fair, the beach and water is fantastic! Our Bungalow on the beach was just a few steps away from the sand and the view was beautiful. However,if you’re going there to enjoy the food, look elsewhere. Sure you can poke around the buffet and find something, fresh fruit and pasta of some kind. If you want serenity, make sure you request a room/bungalow away from the main pool on the Beach side of the resort. LOUD music everyday towards late afternoon and then again night time up until midnight. I’m not a prude but it was over the top. When we first arrived, the ac in our room wasn’t working. We called the front desk to report it. They said they would send maintenance right away. 2 hours later and no one. My husband is a HVAC tech and knew what the issue was so we strolled to the front desk. They looked at us like we were crazy because “apparently “ the maintenance man had been there. We told them we were there the whole time and no one came. We requested a new room if this wasn’t fixed by the time we got back from dinner. NOT FIXED. Went to the front again, now we are patient but this is ridiculous. She radioed the guy and he was outside our bungalow. Hubby helped to fix it. Oh and you also will be hounded to attend a sit down so they can try to sell you a membership. Thousands and thousands of dollars, for 10-30 years locked in. I love the heat, sun and the beach so hubby, kids and I took the good with the bad. Most likely wouldn’t return. Will try another resort.

Beach bungalow is only way to book this property! Amazing to be able to sit on porch at ocean and walk right onto beach. Caribbean water is great, very clear, snorkeling is good, very enjoyable swimming for all ages. No seaweed!!! Food needs improvements, buffets and sit down restaurants are average at best. Reservation restaurants were just dressed up buffet selections. Didn’t like the full self-service thing they have going on with buffet, I understand there is a lot of people but I spent more time getting my family drinks, tracking down napkins/utensils than I did eating. At least have tables turned around quickly. Seemed understaffed. Pools were too small for amount of people here. Went last week of April, so some rain. Ocean was great, with great snorkling right off the shore. We saw a flounder, rays, pufferfish, lobsters, plus reef fish. Coral is growing but looks young. Loved the excursions with viva, they had tour guides that spoke multiple languages. Staff was friendly. Room was basic but the grounds were beautiful with ducks, birds, and igunanas. Food was adequate but lacked flavor. Yes I would go again.

The checkin was a madness. Coming for a quick vacation from our wedding, they wouldnt accept any Id (driver license from US nor Dominican, fireman dept id, nothing): they wanted the local id (expired due to this year president elections and were all expired) so I had to go back to the city (2h drive) to get my passport just for them to “take a copy”, which i gave them and wouldnt accept. To reserve a spot for 2 on ANY of the restaurants was impossible: everything was full. Had to eat at the buffet the 3 days even after spending 950us for the stay. The buffet food is incredibly bad. Out of the 10 restautants available, 7 you had to PAY EXTRA 12.5usd to reserve, what a joke of all inclusive resort is this. The TV was from the f 80s or something (see picture, from jurassic world playing). Im just surprised how disappointing this hotel is. There are much better options in Bayahibe, probably lole Catalonia. I would not recommend AT ALL this hotel with so many better options that are really all inclusive, unlike this.

The hotel really needs to be remodeled ..everything is very out dated and food in the buffet was not good at all. Has the oriental restaurant and the Italian and thank god we could at least eat that. The options for breakfast were not good at all.

From the first day, our experience at this hotel was negative, with multiple deficiencies that severely affected our stay: Room in terrible condition: upon arrival, there were mosquitoes, the air conditioning was not working, the smell of tobacco was unbearable, the Wi-Fi signal did not reach the room, and right outside our door there was an ashtray with trash, cigarette butts, and used glasses that remained there for more than a day. Poor food quality throughout the entire stay. Lack of effective response: despite several complaints made both at the front desk and to the guest service manager, we were only moved to another room the next day. It was slightly better, but the problems continued. Hotel facilities in deplorable condition: Dirty tables in the beach area. Unclean public restrooms. Unprofessional staff. This is a very well-maintained property, with an extensive beach and many different restaurants, snack bars, and cocktail bars, as well as multiple swimming pools. The lady that cleaned our room every day, Yesenia R., did an excellent job and always left us with a beautiful bird constructed from towels and sheets, with flowers and greenery. All of the staff that we encountered were friendly and kind, and they all work very, very hard. The little shopping area within the Palace compound had a wonderful coffee shop. It was also really cool to see all the birds, including a flock of flamingos, wandering around the property, as well as some iguanas. There are multiple specialty restaurants in both the Palace compound, and within Dominicus Beach (which guests at the Palace may use); my personal favorite was the Italian restaurant, Il Palco. 25 is also very good (for steak) and Viva Mexico had delicious fajitas. We had wonderful massages on the beach from the spa. While it was not a concern for my husband and me, or the friends with whom we travelled, the rooms do show some wear and tear, which I feel is to be expected. The spotless attention to detail by the cleaning crews made up for that small criticism. The compound was safe, with an obvious presence of security. The beds are very comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well, which was much appreciated, given the very high humidity at this time of year. This is a great place to take an all-inclusive beach vacation.

Beaches and pools were enjoyable, especially the activities in the plaza, the infinity pool. Crepe bar was very good. Many activities all day. Friendly staff and guests. Weather was great. Family friendly. We used talixo from and to the airport. Would definitely return. This was our first all inclusive.

Resort and beach were great. Customer service lacked greatly not because the staff was short handed but because they didn’t pay attention. Food where reservations were required was great.
