My Place Hotel-Tucson South, AZ

Fairly new property, so all is fine with the accommodations. However, the My Place Hotel Corp. has made 2 poor decisions with respect to this hotel. 1) As designed and built, the hotel has only ONE elevator for 4 floors and over 80 rooms. So the wait is a long one for the elevator in the mornings and evenings if you mobility issues with stairs. 2) This is the only extended stay hotel in recent memory that does not provide even a small set of cookware for the kitchen. Everyone else that advertises a kitchenette - from nation chains to small operations has some lending or rental system for a kitchen necessities. Yes, My Place Hotel will *sell* you pans, dishes, cups - - can you imagine having to buy your cooking utensils and then discard them? Or travel with kitchenware?? In conclusion, if you are in the least disabled, expect a long wait for the elevator any time but mid-day or over night. And for reason #2 alone I will never chose My Place Hotel again until their corporate police changes.

Very nice place and very comfortable rooms. Hotel was close to many dining options and shopping was close by. Only one elevator for whole building.

Staff was friendly. Quiet & clean. Santa Cruz River bike trail runs right by the hotel. It was easy to hop on our bikes right from the parking lot. They do not have an ice machine. You have to rely on your room refrigerator to make ice which you have to turn on when you check in. Buy ice elsewhere if you need it!

I really liked the laundry facilities and the built-in mini convenience store.

Nice staff. Rooms were clean. There is no fitness room, but Planet Fitness is within walkimg distance.

Absolutely awesome. Me and my gf had a great night. In the morning I used the patio grill and cooked us NY Strip steaks for breakfast. Great and relaxing hotel. New condition.

Very clean and hospitable. Only downside was no ice machine and having to wait for fridge to produce ice.

It suck that it didn’t have a swimming pool or gym

We have stayed at this hotel many times and usually have no issue. This time we found dirty items left in the room and one item made into the bed. Hoping it’s just a one off situation.

We had stayed at this place back in December 2024, our room was on the 3rd floor, it was very nice and clean. This trip we stop there again for the night it happened to assigned the same room but it freaked my kids the moment the door opens and lights turn on we discovered cocroach

At least they gave us another after our first room had crumbs along the oven & hair & lint on one of the beds. After staying in our second room for a quick nap, we couldn't sleep because of the noise from the hallway & steps from the room above us. We ate our cost of the room & headed home after being in the room for an hour & a half. We were not going to stay at a ghetto fabulous hotel.

I had high hopes for this hotel based on its reviews, but my experience was incredibly disappointing. Upon checking in, I found the bed sheets visibly dirty and stained. To make matters worse, there was a bug sitting right on the pillow. This was absolutely unacceptable for any standard of cleanliness, let alone a hotel. I immediately brought the issue to the front desk’s attention. While the staff were polite, the solution they offered of changing rooms did not make me feel comfortable. Faced with this lack of cleanliness and hygiene, I decided to leave shortly after checking in and found accommodations elsewhere. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone unless they significantly improve their cleaning standards. A clean, bug-free room should be the bare minimum expectation for any guest.

Staff friendly- very clean and new - rooms very nice- bed was very comfortable with nice bedding- great location for restaurants/food- felt very safe staying alone

Room was spotless. So much so, it appeared as though no one had ever stayed there.

Our first room we were giving still hadn't been cleaned from previous guests. This was at 4pm. The next room didn't have batteries in the TV remote. Then the door keycard sensor wasn't working the staff made it seem like I don't know how to use a key card but they had to use the master key to reset it. The hotel is really clean , and room is spacious and nice but bad experience to start our stay here, ac works good, full size kitchen basically so a multi stay night would be real convenient.

Place is great. Convenient location with lots of stores and restaurants close by. Full size refrigerator and microwave with stove for cooking. Everything you need for your stay

Everything was great would have given 5 stars but internet was NOT as good as advertised.

The hotel is newer and overall, very clean. I enjoyed it's proximity to shopping, restaurants and the airport. The one confusing aspect of this hotel is the rooms have a nice kitchen area, but nothing to cook with. You can, however, purchase a few basic items (utensils, pot, can opener, etc) at the front desk. Having stayed in many hotels with kitchenettes where everything is in the rooms or available upon request, I have never seen this type of greedy gouging. I cannot speak to whether this is common practice across all My Place hotels or if this is specific to this hotel, but it really did sour the whole experience. Unfortunately for this hotel, they will not receive business from myself or any of our other employees until they match what other hotels with kitchenettes offer.

My long distance girlfriend and I stayed there for a weekend and they put us in a room that shares a wall with the elevator and it was absolutely so obnoxiously loud we didn't even stay the second night. We had zero privacy and were woken up over and over again. It was absolutely terrible experience.

The stay was very comfortable. The amenities in the room were unique and welcome. Instead of a universal ice machine, there was a full size fridge with an ice maker. Unfortunately, ours didn’t work so we had to scrounge ice elsewhere. Also, tho there was a stovetop and dish soap furnished, there was no dishes or utensils or cookware. It is possible that those will be furnished at a later time. The hotel had a very new feeling to it and it was well designed. The location was perfect as there was restaurants and interstate close by.

Spacious clean room. Nothing fancy but very clean!

The hotel itself was really in great shape, very clean and comfortable and the front desk staff were very friendly. The issue was with how loud our room was, and how thin the walls seem to be. We could hear conversations from the next room beside us and every step being taken above us. Also a negative is the quality of toilet paper. It was very thin.

Parking was the easiest part. Unfortunately, there were a lot of loud groups of people staying on our floor. They were very loud late into the evening. Also the window shade mechanism in our room was broken. We spent some time trying to fix it or at least lower the shade but we were unsuccessful. At dawn the next morning the sunlight came glaring into our room and woke up my fiance and I. We came down from Phoenix for the night and tried to make this trip like a mini vacation. Yet with these issues occurring during our stay we couldn't fully enjoy it. My fiance went down to the front desk and complained but the girl working said she did not have the authority to refund the cost of the room or offer us anything for our inconvenience. The room was very clean and spacious. For the price we paid I think this was a very good deal overall and had it not been for the problems we experienced I would rate this My Place Hotel and our stay very highly.

Front desk was super communicative and helped us right away!

I called ahead to tell them I wouldn’t be there for the first of a two night stay and don’t cancel. I asked them if I could get a future credit for a future stay and the girl at front desk said she would talk to the manager and let me know. I showed up on day two and my entire prepaid trip was canceled with no refund. Their mgr said there was nothing they could and offer me a very small discount for a third night for a 1 night stay. I told them no thank you and my employees and myself would never stay at (not) My Place again.

Upon arrival, we waited several minutes for someone to show up at the desk, someone else had already been waiting and was knocking on the counter to no avail. I noticed a sign about using a phone in the lobby to dial 0, I looked around and didn’t see a phone other than the one behind the desk. I went to use this and after several seconds of trying to use the phone, Stephanie (who I assume is the one I could hear talking behind the wall earlier) finally came out and was very rude to me about using the phone and that was her space not mine…. I’d like to know why you don’t put a door on it if that’s the case? And why she wasnt at the desk during a busy check in time rather than behind the wall talking to whoever…. Not at all impressed & I would not stay here again due to rude staff. Also of note, all the sheets are polyester, the only cover for warmth is a winter comforter, making sleeping really hot and uncomfortable…another reason I won’t stay here again

Great front desk staff.

Upon arrival the female receptionist barely spoke other than to yell the word "card" several times. Once I handed over bank card she requested an email address. Printed out a registration form highlighted the sections i had to intial no explanation given. I completed the form she then slammed the key to the room in a packet down on the counter and turned away. No explanation of layout of hotel ie lift location access doors from outside etc. A male employee arrived at the desk at this time and as i am already a member of this chain of hotels i asked didnt my membership details display. He was polite and said yes here is your free bottle of water enjoy your stay. After many weeks of travelling this was the rudeness treatment by member of hotel staff. Not the way you would want your Hotel represented to travellers.

The motel was clean. The staff was kind, courteous and helpful. Check in / out was quick and painless. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. The room was quiet.

Upon check in the person at the front desk knew how much to charge my card and charged it, but then could not find my room number and could not make room keys. We waited outside for at least 20 minutes before she came out and said she found our room. She brought us to the room to let us in and 10 minutes later brought my room keys. The night before check out I was getting something out of my car and I noticed the luggage cart was not there. I asked front desk about it and they said it was probably in a room and they will probably put it in the hallway before they go to sleep but they also have a push cart I could use. I told them I won’t need it until the morning. The next morning the luggage cart was still not there or on any of the floors. I asked the front desk if I could use the push cart and that guy said if the luggage cart isn’t there then they have nothing for me. He wasn’t as helpful as the lady that was there at night.

When we got there the front desk staff told us our double queen room had been given to someone else. I had called earlier in the day to confirm and was told all was good. We were offered a one queen bed room. The front desk staff Angel was pleasant and I knew it wasn\'t her fault. She told me I could call the manager Major Johnson, so I did. When I explained that I had reserved a two bed room and that it was not available, he said. "What do you want me to do about it? I am not at the property." I was taken aback by how rude he was. I suggested since I was paying for a two bed room and only got a one bed, that I get some money back. He stated that he couldn\'t do that. Then he said "how do I even know you booked a two bed room?" I suggested he call his front desk attendant as I had just checked into room 319. I asked for the name of his manager because I did not like how rude he was being. I had really been trying to be nice, but hit my limit. He told me he did not have a boss and he was the only boss. I was shocked at his lack of help for a customer and at his rudeness. When I told him I was just with a male friend and did not feel comfortable sleeping in the same bed, he finally offered me another single room. That was totally acceptable, it just could have been accomplished without such a poor attitude from him.

This hotel was a great place to stay for our trip to Tucson. It was about 15mins away from UofA campus. It is very accessible from the highway and there are lots of places to eat nearby. The rooms are spacious and clean. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen area is great for extended stays. The parking lot is adequate and feels safe. We will definitely us this hotel again.

Excellent location. There is some retail, a Sprouts grocery store, and a Planet Fitness in addition to ten or more restaurants within walking distance. Staff was awesome, property is beautiful, rooms are fully equipped with a kitchenette. The Santa Cruz River walking/biking trail is right outside your door. All of this at a reasonable price. How could it not be a five star review!

The area was clean, and we felt safe. Convenient location near entertainment and food.

It was a nice area, we were only there for a night but I could see staying there longer. The only thing that kinda stinks is that you have to pay for your own overpriced breakfast.

We've stayed here countless times and have always felt like it was a 5 start stay, we stayed over the 4th of July weekend and were disappointed in our stay. The coffee in the lobby was cold both mornings we tried it, laundry room was locked and were unable to use it the bathroom in our room had no soap and we had to wait in the lobby to check in because there was nobody available to do so.

I didn't love the area around the hotel. Tucson can be a bit sketchy. Also, they didn't offer free breakfast, and that may have been my mistake since it said "available" when booking, but it cost money. That's a big factor for me while traveling for work.

Very clean hotel, very friendly staff, kitchenette in room. No continental breakfast but plenty of restaurants nearby, highly recommended, would stay again.

Great staff, good coffee

It’s close to everything. Only thing rooms have crappy coffee. I went down to get coffee , but the coffee bar was empty of creamers .. also a homeless person was in the lobby hanging out . Wasn’t afraid but shocked to see one. The coffee bar was good on the second day . No homeless in the lobby
