Sonesta St. George Hotel - Convention Center

Sonesta is excellent value for money! The Nile view balconies are an essential part of the magic and I especially love the live music in the lobby. It feels like a five star experience. The shops inside the hotel are excellent and offer good prices too. I also highly recommend getting a massage with Maria at the spa.

Great stay, fantastic pool area with lots of sunbeds and seating. We received a room upgrade and my boyfriend received a cake on his birthday which was lovely gesture.

Wonderful property in Luxor. While I booked a nonsmoking room, was placed into smoking room. Issue was handled effectively by guest relations staff..thank you Mavey and you more than made up for the initial issue. Nile river view rooms are wonderful. This is a full service hotel with everything you want and need. It has a Nile dock which our guide used to get us to the west bank to save driving time. Pool/Sun complex is expensive, comfortable, and well equipped with endless beach chairs. Highly recommended to make this your base for touring Luxor.

The properly was very well taken care of the staff. There is constantly improving things. Also the staff by the pool is just amazing very caring and hospitable.

We stayed here for 4 nights and everything was great. Location is perfect, walking distance to Luxor Temple and Luxor Museum and just a short ride (5 min) to Karnak Temple. The corniche is also at a walking distance. Room was spacious, not too big not too small. Unfortunately our mini fridge was not working, but no big deal. Shower is ok, nothing special. We had a small patio with partial Nile river view. Breakfast was fantastic with plenty of options. Several breads, fruits and hot food. They also have an egg station. Coffee was great. We had lunch at the local restaurant Beban twice and one pizza one night. Food was good and prices are similar to tourist restaurants around. The pool is nice, although we haven’t use it, and there is also a great deck by the Nile, where we watched the sunset! Staff is kind and polite. Special shout out to the guest relations that went above and beyond to help me with one issue with my flight. Overall this was a great stay!

I have stayed at this hotel a few times now. It is amazing, however on this recent stay building works we’re being carried out by the swimming pool area. It was quite disturbing as we were only there for a couple of days. I would still return for another stay.

At the back of the hotel, there is a very nice dining and sitting area facing Nile river.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Breakfast and dinner were good. We ate lunch in the cafe in the lobby and that was tasty. Also had drinks with live music there at night which was pleasant. I had a great pedicure done in the spa. We used the laundry facilities which was cheap and excellent. Also enjoyed browsing in the stores in the lobby. Only small issue was that ATM is located outside of hotel on the street. So I was a little uncomfortable withdrawing cash there. All in all a great option for Luxor.

The room is big and the bed very comfortable. Had a good night o sleep. The swimming pool was not warm as they advertised and do not have enough chairs available for all guest around the pool. The service in the reception was outstanding. The break was good/ok.

Food service at pool was excellent. Staff were efficient. The guy( guest) blaring his own rap music at a high volume was very unpleasant for 3 afternoons in a row.

It is a large unmaintained property, wouldn't recommend for international travelers. No brand stands, very dirty towels and bed.

The room was immaculate and the whole hotel was just lovely! The breakfast was amazing and offered a wide variety of fare. It is a 20 min walk to Luxor Temple and many other sites. I would recommend staying here and i would stay here again!

There is nothing unique about this property, we were suggested by our travel agent. This was a terrible place to stay, I wouldn't suggest international travelers staying here. Very dirty towels and beds. Doesn't meet any standards.

The Sonesta 5 stars are fading fast in my opinion. While the variety of facilities keep the stars in place the quality of them is ignored by the ratings constellation. Want to relive your 1980’s Playboy days then check right in and head to the bathroom where you’ll find a 14-jet tub complete with alternating colour disco lights with operating panels galore (but no instructions). Climb over and in for your shower and when you’ve worked out which buttons to select you’ll be met with an 80’s variable water-heat experience. Thank goodness for the supplied slippers because the bedroom carpet is now so old, it’s filthy around each of its bedroom edges and you won’t want to place your feet upon its tackiness. Bed? 7ft, dressed with excellent linen and very comfortable. In the partial Nile view room (like mine) I hope you’ll be happy taking it in turns to sit out on the balcony because it’s only supplied with one uncomfortable chair and a falling apart table. Breakfast is a bun fight when 250 guests are all scrambling to get ready for their cruise or that days tour. Food options are limited. Take the fruit for example. One bowl with sliced red apples, one with sliced green apples, another with red and green slices – mixed! Another still with chopped red apples, one with chopped green apple and, you’ve guessed, one more with a mix of the two. One other bowl featured melon and this is the extent of the selection each morning. The one ‘station’ where hot water is available

Primera noche llegamos al hotel y mis padres encuentran un calsoncillo de otra persona en su cama. El baño con cabellos. Terrible! El gerente intentó mejorar nuestra estancia, pero es imposible olvidar un incidente así.

Staff was very courteous and helpful. Good breakfast, clean rooms. The view was beautiful and the shaker was awesome!

Our experience at the Sonesta St. George Hotel was amazing! The breakfast was absolutely delicious with plenty of options to choose from. The entire place was spotless super clean and well maintained. The reception staff were incredibly nice, professional, and very helpful throughout our stay. They truly made us feel welcome and taken care of. Highly recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Luxor!

The staff at Sonesta St. George gets 5 stars! Special thanks to Clara with her help with our transportation needs even before check in and to Mr. Hany for the great welcome at check in. The room decor is a too ornate for our taste, but it was quiet with good sound proofing and provided us with good nights sleep with our comfortable bed.

Very nice location and overall premises of the hotel. The rooms are quite dated and not in great condition. Good breakfast choices.

We were lucky to get an early check-in and an upgrade to a suite, which was a nice start. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. Breakfast was extremely subpar — very few decent hot options and overall felt cheap, though the falafel was good. We tried dessert at the Italian restaurant (a tiramisu), and it was the worst tiramisu we’ve ever had — frozen and crystallized inside. The room was outdated, and the AC didn’t work properly. Despite mentioning it twice, it was never fixed. We also requested robes, a fan, and other items that were never delivered. One morning we asked for the room to be turned early, and it never was. Later, when we ran out of toilet paper, we asked the manager in the lobby to send some up — he told us we had to call the front desk ourselves. Again, not five-star service. At checkout, when I mentioned our stay was disappointing, the front desk clerk simply said “okay” and “goodbye.” That summed up the experience perfectly. This is not a 5-star hotel — maybe a 3-star at best. The service and attention to guest needs need serious improvement before it can live up to its rating.

The staff were very happy and helpful especially Nadine in customer realations If you take the city side you will hear all the noise because the double glazer windows don't seal

The staff were very helpful. The internet is very slow unable to do back ups to the I cloud . The rooms are looking rather dated. However the Japanese restaurant is excellent & the staff are very helpful & willing.

The property was excellent. The major drawback though is the absence of wifi in the rooms. I cannot believe that a 5-star hotel does not provide wifi inside rooms. Only in the reception area.

Room was clean, staff a nice. Hotel is nice and very centric. Food is not bad with a 3 restaurants options. Room decoration is old, shower/bath had some serious issues that apparently staff wasn’t aware of it. Some kind of drainage issues that makes the bathroom into a pool when you’re having a shower. Someone left the music at the pool lounge and it was impossible to sleep.

Hotel is lovely, a little older but location is good and staff was very attentive. Nice balcony and view from room.

Excellent service! My family and I were very satisfied with the hotel, the service offered, the food, the hospitality and overall in every aspect. I highly recommend this hotel and when we find ourselves back in Luxor, we will find ourselves back here! Kudos to all the staff that made our stay amazing! They deserve a 10000 rating :)

Clean and comfort hotel overlooking Nile river. Excellent service and buffet breakfast. Nardine is the best staff.

The welcome we received upon arrival was amazingly friendly, courteous and friendly (Basma and Catherine). The free upgrade was greatly appreciated. The tour director was very helpful in planning our temple visits and yransportation.

Bell'hotel, peccato per il personale poco capace. Siamo arrivati da Cairo ed eravamo stanchi. Arriviamo in Reception e ci dicono di aspettare 10 minuti per la stanza che la stavano pulendo. Accettabile. Quei 10 minuti si sono trasformati quasi in 1 ora e mezza, tra scuse improbabili e menzogne. Il personale diceva: 10 minuti, poi 15, poi 20, poi una ragazza dello staff andò a controllare la situazione e al suo ritorno si nascondeva in reception per evitarci. Quando queste cose accadono, come minimo si offre un drink di cortesia o una cena, o uno sconto su una cena e invece niente di tutto ciò. Il giorno dopo mentre eravamo lì a cenare sempre la stessa ragazza si avvicina al mio amico e gli dice: Posso offrirti una Coca Cola? E lui le fa: No grazie, preferirei una birra. E lei fa: Scusa non posso offrirti per una birra. Quando si sta nel torto, solitamente si cerca di recuperare la situazione, non che si fa i selettivi sul drink per farsi perdonare per l'incapacità e la mancanza di professionalità e invece, niente di tutto ciò. Staff da cambiare totalmente. Le camere invece molto belle.

Sonesta, set the standard for our Egypt trip, the staff, the room, the view, cleanliness. Everything was outstanding. We also used the onsite spa which provided an incredibly relaxing experience. The only thing it lacked was the food and restaurant variety around the hotel. Wahid and the other reception staff were extremely accommodating attending to our request where necessary. We highly recommend staying at Sonesta.

Good hotel, located quite far away from the attractions with limited bars/restaurants outside the hotel.

The hotel is stunning. There are stores, multiple restaurants, swimming pool, private felucca sailings onsite. The room was fantastic, we got the upgraded room which was great. The staff was very helpful with all of our needs from getting us a car to the airport to giving us a private tour of the facility. Housekeeping was thorough and friendly as well. The only comment I have to put out there only because it surprised me and may be a deal breaker for others considering staying here was that I thought I was going to get a balcony Nile view room like the ones I saw in all of the photos online but on the North side of the hotel the view is of what appears to be a water treatment facility which really took away from the experience. I can't complain because it is still a Nile view room and did get to see the balloon launches each morning from the balcony.

Very nice hotel, front desk clerk friendly and upgraded our room. Hotel is truly a 5-star hotel. Except for the taxi drivers/horses carriage in front of the hotel harassing /annoying every customers or guests that they see going out the hotel door and offering their services, hopefully hotel management will take action to stop this people congregating in front of their hotel so that guests will feel safe too when they’re going out.

perfectly clean and comfortable hotel on the Nile. Probably a 10 to 15 minute walk to the main Riverwalk area in Luxor. The room was great. We had a great view of the Nile and the breakfast was good enough. I'm not a big breakfast eat a cup of coffee and maybe some bread so never disappointed at breakfast although the only comment I would make is that they need to have more fresh fruit, but that's it

Very convenient for going to Luxor attractions like Hot Air Balloon, Karnak and Luxor Temples. Other attractions are also not far. Luxor airport is 20 mins by car. Staff is friendly and allowed me to do late check out as my flight is in the evening.

Great location. Excellent looby & Breakfast restaurant. Had nice spread of breakfast. Very helpful staff. Polite & Courteous. They upgrade us to a suite. Nice gesture. It seems they will be updating room. Will recommend.

We stayed at Royal Sonesta from April 13-16.2025, The rooms were great , the bathroom had jacuzzi and it was not very much in an operational state . Lots of features were not working. May be remove jacuzzi and just add a simple shower ? Breakfast in restaurant was great in terms of selections but service was sloppy. The pool was great and the dinner in Aladdin restaurant near pool side was very poor. Cold Bread , frozen butter , lukewarm food. not worth the experience . Staff in Aladdin was Lousy.

It was a nice hotel with good service. Staff was nice and helpful. And the complementary breakfast was tasty and had plenty of choices. Ate lunch several times at hotel’s Italian restaurant, food was tasty but I’m not an expert on Italian food. My room contained a balcony and I enjoyer a nice view of the Nile River
