Elevator didn’t work.

Staff very pleasant and accommodating. The room was small but clean and updated. This is a very basic motel with a very tiny pool (4 lounge chairs). It is not beach side but is just a short walk. The price was definitely expensive but I do understand that it was a weekend in July so all hotels close to the beach are extremely overpriced. I paid over 700 for 2 nights and felt a little short changed. The included breakfast was a non event, a tiny room filled with families in line for a bagel. Went to a nearby Dunkin. Staff were all very pleasant though, thus the 3.5 out of 5 rating.

Elevator skips floors, washer wasn't working, stuff extremely helpful and super nice. Good location, two minutes to the beach

The elevator was not working and they booked us 5th floor. My boyfriend is disabled and it was not easy using the stairs.

Easiest parking Ive ever had at a beach hotel. I loved not having a garage with tiny parking spaces. Hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Hotel is convenient to many places along the boardwalk and easy to get to. The walk across the street to the beach is very easy and quick with beach access right there. Only thing I didn't like is that there were no balconies to hang wet towels/bathing suits out to dry so everything seemed to stay wet as it does in beach hotels.

Room small, hotel dated, but rooms were updated, comfortable. This is on opposite side of the street from the ocean, and this is why the price is a bit lower. Slow elevator, very small pool, but okay for a short stay. The office is a separate small building in the front lot so this adds a sense of security, in my opinion.

The pool is the size of a backyard fish pond. It is NOT “on the beach” as stated & it does not have an ocean view. It also has a similar name to a nicer hotel down the street. I must say that the desk clerk did try very hard to right things & allow me to stay at their sister hotel (with the view & on the beach) However, I still don’t see a refund on my credit card.

The pool was in shambles. They didn’t tell us they had additional parking behind the hotel until we checked out. The ice machine was broken. The bed frame was metal and squeaked all night every time you dare make a move. They had 2 hard chairs in the room with no couch or recliner or office chair. Nothing to set your bags on other than the floor or the bed you were sleeping in or the desk that the coffee maker was sitting on. And lord knows I wasn’t using the coffee maker. But you did have a laundry basket and 4 clothes pins. For what? Who knows, there was no where to hang towels or clothes to dry from the pool that was dry as a bone. It they had free coffee 24/7. You get what you pay for. Don’t pay for this.

Oceanview was a stretch of a description as it was only when you opened your door from the walkway. Breakfast was pretty much grab and go. The water pressure in the rooms was very weak. The curtains were not sufficient to block out the walkway lights. The pool was extremely small. On the positives, the staff were very nice and the location is safe and convenient to the boardwalk. The AC in the room was superb and the bed was comfortable.

Clean room, cool air conditioning, very well kept property. Staff was informative and very friendly. Cool, well kept pool. Made our 3 night stay so enjoyable. We will be back.

Everyone was great at Surestay. The staff was great. They took very good care of us. Every day. Everyone made sure we had everything we needed. The room was very clean. Continental breakfast was great also. I truly enjoyed our stay there.

Found cockroaches in room also the room was not cleaned good was dusty.

Room was not clean. There was sand on and in pull out sofa, pull out sofa was damp. The floors were sandy, I assume it was not vacuumed. There was mold in bathroom. I ended up cleaning the shower myself. The air conditioning smelled like mold. Which made the room smell moldy. We left a night early to not have to sleep there.

The staff were vry friendly and helpful. Location was convenient and close to the beach and boardwalk. The property itself says it is an oceanfront, except we only had a view of a wall. The hotel is non-smoking and they made sure to tell us to not smoke on the premises or in the rooms (we are non smokers) however the front desk area reeked of cigarette smoke and I had to get my children out of there quickly. The 1st room had ants on the headboards and on the bed/pillows. We went to the front desk and notified the front desk and she handed my husband a bottle of raid, then took it back and my husband said we needdd a new room. We went to check another 2 rooms that were not in conditions to sleep in. 1 smelled horrible and the other had a huge puddle next to the AC unit. By the 4th room, we were able to check-in to. Mind you, it was 11 p.m. and with 3 young children, this was extremely inconvenient. The room we stayed in was ok for the rest of our 3 night, with the exception of rock hard beds, mold in the shower glass and the AC would take a while to kick in sometimes. I would not recommend this hotel for families unless you really had no other choice.

The place was nice and clean

We recently stayed here for our first family vacation, and we had an excellent time. The staff were kind and accommodating and the entire facility was clean.

The room had a very strong smell of mold and humidity. There was mold in between the picture and the glass of the frame, the paint on top of the beds was peeling, the beds were damp. Housekeeping came and “cleaned” the AC by spraying it so it wouldn’t smell anymore. I requested a different room but then there were roaches going into the AC on this one. I couldn’t spend not one night there. I had to cancel and I was charge for two nights anyway. Horrible experience. Manager yelling at housekeeping. When I told manager I needed another room as my daughter has severe allergies and couldn’t stay in a moldy room, she got very mad and aggressive. Asking if we had touched anything in that room because they need to sell it to someone else then. When returning the room key, she was very rude. Not recommending this hotel to anybody!

There was blood and a dead bug on the sheets front desk was very rude and unhelpful rooms were dark and cramped

Liked the location to beach and boardwalk. AC's need to be upgraded. The unit was putting humidity into the room rather than discharging to the outside, which led to a very sticky and wet interior room.

Firstly, this should not be labeled as a hotel. It is a motel. Everything else in the area for a reasonable price was sold out so this was a decent last resort option. The room was very clean aside from a few long strands of grey hair found in the bathroom on the towel hooks. The bed was comfortable enough and the AC was functional. There’s really not much else to critique. It was a very basic room. The one elevator that they do have was a little annoying. It was very slow and on my first day of arrival it never came down to the main level. Perhaps someone was holding it open for a cleaning or something so I had to take the steps to the fourth level, which was not pleasant carrying a suitcase. On the first day of my stay, the bathroom had no hand soap.

The main staff that I saw, Brian and Jose, are truly wonderful. Housekeeping skipped my room a couple of times, but it was instantly corrected as soon as I reported it. Not much quiet with fighter jets flying around most nights. The motel is also on a busy intersection. However this noise settled down by 11. Close to the beach with many families enjoying it.

I would describe this hotel as sufficient . The beds were worn out and noisy. The pull out couch is impossible to sleep on. Cleaning service is very minimal. The good sides , check in was great Kitchenette was equipped so you could actually use it. 2 minutes walk to the beach and boardwalk. Very close to all service and a lot of restaurants. Its half the price of the hotels across the street.

The location was perfect! Just one block from the beach and many restaurants. However, if you are a light sleeper, this place may not be for you. The walls are paper thin and you can hear anything and everything your neighbors are doing. The rooms look like they were recently renovated (bathroom, kitchen, and bedframes look nice and new), but it seems that some of the old things still remain (the couch, ironing board, ceiling fan, hanger bars all look old and out of place).

While room was updated, bathroom light/fan was noisy. Floor tile in bathroom was uneven and mismatched. Painting was sloppy. Very noisy............from outside street, street working on and maintenance being done 9-10 pm.

WiFi barley worked but other then that it was good

Arrived early on day of check in and was accommodated right away by a very friendly person at front desk. Room was clean, comfortable and pretty basic decor, definitely a no frills hotel. Hotel is great location with free parking for guests in a busy area, so a major plus. Down side to the place is very loud from street traffic (maybe because holiday and event weekend), place is dated but maintained well, only one elevator is old and slow, ac unit in room worked well but loud, just a sheet on bed no blankets, and bathrooms a little small. I would stay again for short visits as the cost is reasonable compared to other places in area.

We visit Virginia Beach for the weekend and the room wifi is not good at all we were unable to use it besides that everything is good. Excellent location.

Oceanview was a stretch of a description as it was only when you opened your door from the walkway. Breakfast was pretty much grab and go. The water pressure in the rooms was very weak. The curtains were not sufficient to block out the walkway lights. The pool was extremely small. On the positives, the staff were very nice and the location is safe and convenient to the boardwalk. The AC in the room was superb and the bed was comfortable.

Our 5 night stay was great. Josa welcomed us the first night and kept checking on us each day to make sure we were doing well. She was amazing. Our only complaint was that the mattress gave us both back aches. We asked the front desk if there was anything they could do and at first they said no, that mattresses were new. But then in a text conversation they said they would look into it, but I do not believe they did. We didnt tell Josa about our mattress issue, maybe if we did she would have tried to fix it. Location was convenient and walkable to many stores and resturants and we had an ocean view from our balcony.

We had a great stay, no issues whilst there, however they have never refunded the security deposit and are not answering emails

I stay at many hotels in the US because I travel a LOT and I can honestly say that I had the absolute BEST experience at this hotel . SureStay by Best Western Royal Clipper , words can not describe how AMAZING you treat your guests ! I was sad to leave because I was treated like family and Josa at the front desk was wonderful, as well as the Manager he was such a kind hearted respectful man and both of them go above and beyond with everything they do there . The area is so safe and about a 2 minute walk to the beach . The rooms are spacious , very clean and when I first walked into the room it was like a breath of clean fresh air . I'm a person that notices everything, every detail and I have ZERO complaints. I stayed there with my son and we attended the Nas Oceana Air Show so the hotel was completely booked and it was quiet , relaxing and overall just an amazing experience. We also got to see the ocean from our room and the jets including the Blue Angels flew right over the hotel . My son and I thank you so so much for the amazing experience and we will definitely be back next year for the Air Show to stay longer than 4 nights, we may even be back sooner . Top of the line service , amazing staff that treats you like family, safe , fresh and clean , short walk to the beach, great price , free breakfast , on site parking , the list goes on with the great amenities this hotel has to offer. I highly without a doubt recommend SureStay by Best Western Royal Clipper!

Across the street from the beach. Plenty kf places to shoo and eat. Next to the trolley stop. Front desk lady was the best. Very friendly abd informative. Breakfast was ok. Nothing big. Creal, waffles, yogurt, toast, bagels and fruit. Just something to start your day.

When my mom went to the office she was talking to the older lady at the front desk and she was very rude..the gentleman at the front desk was excellent..

Front desk staff EXCEEDED superior customer service. The way they treat you, you would think you are at a 4 or 5 star hotel. Perfect location across from the beach. I really enjoyed my stay here.

Location was a major factor for our choice of hotel. Everything was within easy access: the beach, shops, restaurants. Parking was easy.

Nice spot close to the beaches

Everything went smoothly. The room was nice. I really enjoyed the shower. The sink had low water pressure. Right across from the beach which is a big plus.

For the price this was perfect. Our king bed room was clean, spacious, and looks to have been updated recently (no nasty carpet or sticky shower curtain). The breakfast was simple (toast, cereal, juice, fruit, waffles, yogurt, danishes, etc.) and the breakfast area was clean. The pool is small, but the beach is very easy to access from the hotel and you can see it from the front. There are also plenty of shops and restaurants near by.

It was a great experience. Really clean and good place close to the beach..may some advices can be ..the breakfast can be more varied and tv cable ..

Breakfast area needs to be bigger and maybe a couple more options

Rooms are updated. Includes safe, very cold refrig, hairdryer, etc. beds are firm, pillows are a bit hard and feels like you slept on a rock but I think that’s my only complaint. Danielle at the desk is amazing. The breakfast in the morning is better than I thought it would be. There are no eggs no meat but tons of other items to pick from. This is a motel surrounded by what appears to be all the high end hotels. So if you don’t feel jealousy your paying half the price here. Also it’s literally a half a block to the beach. You walk across the street and between the two high class hotels is the entrance to the boardwalk. One block down is Pocahontas a great breakfast/lunch diner. Always packed. I’d stay again for this price.

The staff here were friendly and helpful and the rooms were pretty clean and well kept. However, the elevator was consistently breaking down or broken the entirety of our stay. We were located on the 5th floor so it made it quite inconvenient for us, especially checking in and out. The breakfast was also very mediocre. They offered 1 waffle maker (which was a nightmare trying to use because there are well over 100 plus people staying in the hotel) cereal, pre packaged pastries and other little things. I guess i expected actual breakfast? Maybe some eggs and sausage? It was very disappointing because one of the reasons I booked this hotel was because it offered free breakfast, but to me the breakfast was more snacks. Overall our stay was okay but the elevator being broken down was really annoying to deal with considering we were having to go up and down 5 flights of stairs with a ton of stuff. And the breakfast wasn’t good or really even worth it to me. Probably wouldn’t stay here again unfortunately.

The breakfast is not so good, sometimes is missing some items. It took 2 days to refill. The coffee is cheap. But the guy who is in charge is a perfect gentleman, I'll give him a perfect 10.
