We stayed in an updated deluxe room. Adults down and kids upstairs. The carpet leading into the rooms is worn but otherwise the rooms are in good order with a nice soaking tube downstairs. The included breakfast was excellent but the pub is lacking in character and was disappointing when we wanted an evening drink or snack. The amenities are somewhat limited and I’d call this a 4-star establishment. Location was ideal for exploring the countryside and we would stay again.

Upgraded to a suite which had a courtyard which was perfect for our dog. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel itself is a beautiful example of a typical Cotswold building. We had dinner and breakfast in the bar (dogs not permitted in the restaurant) and the food was excellent. The sausage for our dog at breakfast was a nice touch. The sticky toffee soufflé was I think the best dessert I have ever eaten. A lovely hotel in a lovely setting and I would definately stay again.

The property is in the center of the village of Lower Slaughter. It is quiet and peaceful. The restaurant has exceptional food options. The property has several two level Cotswold row cottages furnished for two. There are no shops and the village is connected to other villages, such as Bourton-on-the -water, with a footpath system. There is a small pub in the hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful in directing you to nearby town and attractions. There is onsite parking. We took a tour through a local private car hire company with an exceptional guide who was well versed in local history and points of interest. We arrived by train to Cheltenham followed by a 40 minute taxi ride. Moreton Marsh station is about 10 minutes away with a fast train service to London Paddington. London Heathrow Airport is accessed by leaving the train at Reading and taking a fast bus service from the station to the airport. Our stay was very enjoyable.

Loved our stay at the quaint Slaughters Country Inn. Room was cosy and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was nice but our only suggestion would be to change the menu with different daily specials or have a different bar menu to offer more choice. We will be staying again.

It was difficult to find reception. There was no clear sign. The regular reception person was on break and the person filling in was great! Super friendly and took me to my room. The room was quite nice, but there were cobwebs and a few baby spiders coming down the wall. I understand that this property is in the country and "nature" can find it's way inside. But, I think that dusting or having staff pay closer attention to the obvious cobwebs would be nice. The grounds were totally amazing! Very well maintained and very open. Quite like a park. The carpark has quite narrow spots, so that created some creative parking. Wish they would eliminate a few spaces and make the spots larger. The meal service was great! The staff was attentive and very friendly and professional. Food itself as perfect! Presented nicely and was cooked perfectly.

Lovely property in a beautiful setting. Staff and service excellent. Food in restaurant excellent also. Great location for exploring the Cotswolds. Burton on the Water walkable as is Hawkstones brewery which is even closer. Only marked it down as even though our room (Walpole) was beautiful and spacious and mostly clean there were quiet a lot of cobwebs hanging from beams, loft hatch, lap shade in hall and other rooms. Needs some attention for high dusting. Some skirting boards also need a clean in the corners in particular. Not that awful but noticeable enough. Otherwise everything else excellent. Definitely stay again.

The rooms were not clean, the furniture was marked and old, the food orders were not what we ordered and poorly cooked. We had to have the room cleaned twice on the same day it was not hoovered, new tea bags were put in dirty cups and the bathroom was not cleaned. Staff while pleasant and trying to accommodate seemed overworked and very stressed about not being able to deliver good service.

We had a wonderful stay here, really comfortable and very relaxing. Staff were very friendly and the service was great. Hotel was really clean, very well presented and very comfortable and warm. Would definitely recommend anyone coming to stay. Very pretty area in the Slaughters and only 10-15 minute drive to Bourton on the Water. Loved the local area and staying at the hotel. A warm and relaxing stay.

Fabulous stay just before Christmas. Staff friendly, professional and helpful. Am a returning guest. Hotel spotless. Bedroom large, bed comfortable and had tea/coffee facilities etc. lovely bathroom with great products. Easy parking. Food - breakfast and dinner superb. Local - area around hotel lovely to explore, very picturesque. Sister hotel across the way, beautiful church opposite and the mill nearby. Also near other beautiful Cotswolds villages. Will be revisiting again as soon as possible.

The beds were good, room spacious, but we had people above us and we were bothered both nights. We called the first night and it got quieter, but second night, it was just people walking and chatting until late. It was really the lack of sound isolation, we didn’t sleep well. The food and service (except for the receptionist and bar tender the first night July 31st) were not up to standards. However, the hotel is located in a quiet area, easy to walk around the slaughters and experience the Costwolds.

Property was a bit tired in terms of decor, furniture and amenities. Particularly for the price point, it should be nicer & better quality. We arrived about 1pm, so earlier than check in, and went to the front desk to see if you could check in early or leave out bags. Before we could say anything we got told ‘check in isn’t until 3’ - which we were aware of but just found very abrupt and not very welcoming. When we finally did check in, the other lady (think she was called Zoe) was lovely. Our room, Hawtrey (maybe), a deluxe room, was very spacious but the noise heard from the family above was really really loud. I wouldn’t recommend.

This hotel is even better than its pictures- rare these days! It sits in the coziest village and is truly a serene experience. The King bedroom and bathroom was large and included a clawfoot tub. Would dream to return!

We had a lovely stay as a couple with our 5 month old puppy. The room was clean and comfy - although could hear a lot from the room above! The staff couldn’t have been friendlier and more accommodating. We enjoyed breakfast and were impressed with the wide variety we could choose from. A beautiful hotel that we would definitely stay in again!

Excellent stay - treated very well for my birthday with upgrade and pudding and staff being so nice to us. Lovely tranquil area in a pretty village after many places in the Cotswold were busy so we would head straight here next time. Would recommend and hope to stay again.

The lady at reception was delightful and welcoming from the start of our visit. She is an example of how reception staff should be. She told us our roo was available immediately instead of waiting 3 hours for the confirmed check-in time and helped with carrying bags to the room. She also gave us a history of the area and all the information needed for our stay. Restaurant staff were also efficient and courteous. Our evening meal was nicely served and breakfast the next day was very good with a good range of cooked choices.

We stayed 7 nights, lovely property but no way is this a 5 star property — inconsistent food, service, dirty chairs, empty tables filled with glasses/food plates etc. 3 stars, at best.

Very poor service at front desk. We asked about options for eating in town - she simply told us we can go find out, did not offer to call or provide any information. Turns out every option she named was closed. She also wouldn't entertain the option of changing bed / room type. It was bad enough that we decided to stay somewhere else even though we had already paid the entire room in advance and would not be refunded.

Such a stunning, picturesque location in what feels like the heart of the Cotswolds. Our first time and it was only one night. We are certainly going to make it an annual trip.

The beds were good, room spacious, but we had people above us and we were bothered both nights. We called the first night and it got quieter, but second night, it was just people walking and chatting until late. It was really the lack of sound isolation, we didn’t sleep well. The food and service (except for the receptionist and bar tender the first night July 31st) were not up to standards. However, the hotel is located in a quiet area, easy to walk around the slaughters and experience the Costwolds.

The property is in the center of the village of Lower Slaughter. It is quiet and peaceful. The restaurant has exceptional food options. The property has several two level Cotswold row cottages furnished for two. There are no shops and the village is connected to other villages, such as Bourton-on-the -water, with a footpath system. There is a small pub in the hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful in directing you to nearby town and attractions. There is onsite parking. We took a tour through a local private car hire company with an exceptional guide who was well versed in local history and points of interest. We arrived by train to Cheltenham followed by a 40 minute taxi ride. Moreton Marsh station is about 10 minutes away with a fast train service to London Paddington. London Heathrow Airport is accessed by leaving the train at Reading and taking a fast bus service from the station to the airport. Our stay was very enjoyable.

A great choice for anyone visiting the Cotswolds as Lower Slaughter is a wonderful village and the hotel is in a perfect position. The only reason for it not making 5 stars was that the radiator in our room was not hot and we were there when it was particularly cold. Secondly, dinner was quite expensive and was not served as hot as you would expect. However staff could not be more friendly and helpful. Overall would recommed this hotel for a really comfortable stay in a great location.

Beautiful location, chocolate box pretty. Well appointed hotel with comfortable rooms, good menu and friendly staff. Only criticism would be that service was a little slow, but the food was good once it came. Would stay again.

Quaint and lovely. The garden and surrounding areas are beautiful. Perfect for a weekend gateway. Dinner restaurant food was ok and bland, but breakfast was fantastic.. I guess is a matter of cooks. Will go back again

We enjoyed another relaxing stay here in a beautiful, spacious suite with a private garden. We wished we could have stayed longer. We’ve been eating and staying here since our first visit in 1991, so they’re doing something right. We love the village, the grounds with the lawn to the stream, and the nearby villages. Staff were friendly and helpful, supplying fans in the heatwave. The food was excellent - we ate dinner outside on the terrace, from the bar menu - and breakfast the next morning was equally good. It was a shame that builders were repairing pathways with some noise and dust. Nevertheless, we’ll be back.

Everything about our short stay was fantastic. The only problem was that it was short!! We would love to return later in the year. All of the front of house staff were extremely helpful and kind. The food was amazing, locally sourced and very tasty.
