stayed in the lodge (room #6) as the cottages were all booked. the room was nice and comfortable with a huge balcony. we had dinner at the onsite restaurant and the food was really good. also the fact you could leave your vehicle parked at the hotel and walk down to main street was a huge plus because driving around and trying to find parking on the streets was a mess.

Great staff. Wonderful breakfast. Cookies on arrival. Happy hour with charcuterie. Clean rooms and they provide robes. Nice grounds to take a walk on and a fire pit with Adirondack chairs for night time.

We walked into the beautiful lobby and were greeted by Marta, who offered a veggie and cheese plate and a seat on the patio to unwind. We dropped off our bags and had a glass of wine to unwind from our drive up on the patio. The air was fresh and clean, and the views are amazing.

The property was really nice and the service was excellent. It was super close to the little town. The parking was a little tricky and the rocky uphill was a bit hard in heels. Good breakfast.

Beautiful property, rooms are large and so comfy, staff is so kind and attentive. Breakfast is included in the beautiful solarium area like dining in the trees. It’s a 5 minute walk to the center of town. They also have 2 EV charging stations.

Display far exceeded my expectations! It was incredibly peaceful and exceptionally beautiful. We were blown away at the peace and tranquility of this place. Saturday night the lobby was lively, fun, great drinks, great people, great live music.

The Orchard Hill hotel is a wonderful property to stay. The location in Julian, California is perfect at the end of town and in walking distance to all. It’s quiet, woodsy cozy, elegant country interiors and beautiful outdoor spaces. Marta was our first hostess and extremely charismatic and knowledgeable giving us tons of information about the hotel and the town. The jewel of Julian and we are coming back.

We cannot wait to return!! This was our first visit and it was wonderful! The staff were all so accommodating and welcoming. The included happy hour and breakfast were delicious. We also ate at the in-house restaurant - The Fancy Farmer - for dinner....super yummy! The only small issue - emphasis on small - was with the TV in the room. We stayed in a lodge room, so next time, we are going to try a larger cabin room with a fireplace! The grounds were a pleasant suprise as well - with a babbling brook and pond. Very serene and quaint. Another bonus was the entertainment room on our floor - with all the board games and old school arcade games available! I have recommended this boutique hotel to all of my friends, family, and coworkers!!

1- The Hotels.com site did not show that our Lodge room 7 was on the second floor with no elevator (I am disabled and use a walker), nor that no dogs were allowed there. But the hotel staff was very accommodating to allow our dog as an exception, even though we had to use atairs. 2 - The room was lovely, but only had 1 chair which was not comfortable. Our suggestion is to put in one comfortable chair, or two small comfortable chairs, so guests can sit and read or watch TV. 3 - The bathroom could use a towel bar, especially by the sink. 4 - The windows in the upstairs lounge / game room were very dirty. 5 - It would be nice to have one parking space for each Lodge room thst would be located outside the Lodge entrance and not down the hill by the trash bins and staff parking. 6 - We understand there was limited staff on Thanksgiving day, but we wish the main lodge room fireplace was lit longer in the afternoons and evenings of our 4 night stay, as it was a great place to sit and visit or read, but lost its ambience due to no fire. 7 - The main Lodge room was lovely and nicely decorated for the hoiidays. 8 - We appreciate the kind and friendly attention and supoort we received from all of the hotel staff. They were very helpful.

What a lovely place this is! My partner and I stayed in the main lodge in room 6. We had a beautiful balcony overlooking the grounds. There's a water feature with a small pond with fish and plenty of trees. They provided breakfast each morning with eggs and bacon and fruit and mimosas. It was delicious! The people there are so friendly and helpful. In the late afternoon they offer complimentary Hors d’Oeuvres and drinks. Everything is clean. The decor is well thought out. The views from the dining area are lovely. Live music in the lodge on Saturday night. Parking is a breeze. It's two blocks from the main street in Julian. So easy to stroll into town, get a pie, go to the bookstore and shop the shops. No need to worry about finding parking. Which is a relief because Julian gets busy busy on the weekends. It doesn't matter if it's cold and rainy, people come from all over to visit Julian. Orchard Hill is so close yet when you get to the lodge it's so calm and quiet. Cute little outdoor seating areas around to enjoy. Absolutely worth every penny.

I stayed at the property a year ago and I was less impressed this visit. I stayed mid week both visits. The complimentary happy hour and complimentary breakfast is no longer offered. The room was mediocre with inadequate light at the coffee making area. The coffee maker was not properly cleaned, the TV did not work nor did the landline to the front desk. I know these days almost everyone has phones/laptops/computers to access TV and phone; however, it is a nice convivence to have working landline to front desk and a working TV. In general, the room was not well maintained. Was disappointing this visit. It is a beautiful property. It just seemed that it was better cared for a year ago. Front desk staff was very kind and helpful; she came to the room to sweep the desk and remove the spider webs so I could enjoy the outdoors.

The hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The room was very small and had broken blinds and broken fan blade missing. There also seemed to be mold spots on the wooden blinds. The rest of the room was clean but there was no fridge and tv was very small if that is something of interest. The building is a historic craftsman and amazing to look at. Loved sitting outside by the fireplace and little river.

The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The main facility is beautiful and our lodge room was super clean and tastefully decorated. It is located in a quiet and natural setting, which we found to be very restful. Two thumbs up!!!

We loved our quick trip to orchard hill. The lodge is peaceful and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the happy hour as well as breakfast near the fire. Our cabin was cozy and overall a good experience. Bed was comfortable and we loved relaxing by the fire. The only things lacking were the bathtub with no shower. The tub looked very old/worn and patched up, with a soft spot. So I attempted a shower with the hand held but you couldn’t move it from the attachment…. So it was awkward and not the best. Second thing is the tv in room could have been better. No major issues, just those minor inconveniences. I know they are modernizing from the previous owners so maybe more cabin updates are coming. We loved the stay as a quick mountain escape and I hope we’ll be back!

We enjoyed the room we booked very much. Very relaxing, quiet, secluded room. Loved it so much we ate $300 for early cancellation on previous reservations in San Diego to stay in the room one more night before starting our 5 hour drive back home.

The service was excellent! The breakfast was delicious! The room was beautiful! The ambiance was fantastic! The one thing that keeps me from rating everything as excellent is that the heater in the room was very loud when it cycled on. Since it was in the low 30s at night, the heater cycled on a number of times and woke us out of an otherwise good nights sleep. We stayed in the Macintosh room. It is a very nice room.

I'm a city guy and was worried about the lack of options in Julian, CA, which looked like it was, frankly, in the middle of nowhere. There are no big hotels here because it's a small town away from the cities for people to enjoy nature and a quieter vibe. I paid up to stay at Orchard Hill compared to the other choices around town, and I'm really satisfied with the decision. We stayed in Lodge Room 9, which is one of the rooms in the Main lodge building (as opposed to the individual cottages). In some ways, it felt like a hotel room (albeit only one of ten) because it was in the main lodge. It wasn't really big, but more than adequate for sleeping. It fit two people fine. Definitely not a modern aesthetic (she told me they would upgrade to key cards soon), but everything was clean. There was a small nostalgic TV but we still watched on it from bed. A wall unit A/C. The bathroom had a bright skylight that was cool. Our only small issue was the deadbolt on our door wasn't working well, but the staff noted it for their maintenance staff. The door still locked anyways so we were fine. The staff were super friendly and nice, and checked on us any time they saw us. I didn't eat the included breakfast as we only stayed one night and we slept in til checkout time. I'm a city guy and was worried about the lack of options in Julian, CA, which looked like it was, frankly, in the middle of nowhere. There are no big hotels here because it's a small town away from the cities for people to enjoy nature and a quieter vibe. I paid up to stay at Orchard Hill compared to the other choices around town, and I'm really satisfied with the decision. We stayed in Lodge Room 9, which is one of the rooms in the Main lodge building (as opposed to the individual cottages). In some ways, it felt like a hotel room (albeit only one of ten) because it was in the main lodge. It wasn't really big, but more than adequate for sleeping. It fit two people fine. Definitely not a modern aesthetic (she told me they would upgrade to key cards soon), but everything was clean. There was a small nostalgic TV but we still watched on it from bed. A wall unit A/C. The bathroom had a bright skylight that was cool. Our only small issue was the deadbolt on our door wasn't working well, but the staff noted it for their maintenance staff. The door still locked anyways so we were fine. The staff were super friendly and nice, and checked on us any time they saw us. I didn't eat the included breakfast as we only stayed one night and we slept in til checkout time. All in all, good stay, and would recommend especially if you want something clean and comfortable and if you're used to nicer hotels.

Beautiful grounds and enjoyable stay - we stayed in the Penthouse. The Penthouse cottage was large, clean and comfortable. The fridge was very old and extremely noisy and the adult shower only had cold water. Used the kids 4 ft tall shower since that one had hot water. Would love to return, but given the cost, would expect a quiet fridge and a working adult shower.

This place is so beautiful. Made reservations for birthday 1 night. Set up on a hill with numerous cottages to choose from. The room we stayed in had a jetted whirlpool tub which was a lot of fun as a couple. Ended up rebooking for a second night. Highly recommend

However, when we spoke with Orchard Hill--and more specifically, Becky, who gets a special thank you--it just felt so clear that this was going to be the right choice for us. What a lovely place this is! My partner and I stayed in the main lodge in room 6. We had a beautiful balcony overlooking the grounds. There's a water feature with a small pond with fish and plenty of trees. They provided breakfast each morning with eggs and bacon and fruit and mimosas. It was delicious! The people there are so friendly and helpful. In the late afternoon they offer complimentary Hors d’Oeuvres and drinks. Everything is clean. The decor is well thought out. The views from the dining area are lovely. Live music in the lodge on Saturday night. Parking is a breeze. It's two blocks from the main street in Julian. So easy to stroll into town, get a pie, go to the bookstore and shop the shops. No need to worry about finding parking. Which is a relief because Julian gets busy busy on the weekends. It doesn't matter if it's cold and rainy, people come from all over to visit Julian. Orchard Hill is so close yet when you get to the lodge it's so calm and quiet. Cute little outdoor seating areas around to enjoy. Absolutely worth every penny.

stayed in the lodge (room #6) as the cottages were all booked. the room was nice and comfortable with a huge balcony. we had dinner at the onsite restaurant and the food was really good. also the fact you could leave your vehicle parked at the hotel and walk down to main street was a huge plus because driving around and trying to find parking on the streets was a mess.

We opted for a room in one of the cottages in the grounds. I was hoping for a view and a sunny terrace but the trees had grown too tall for this! It was quiet and felt very private but I don’t think the other 2 rooms in the cottage were occupied. The room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable . This place is a bit of a mess. We came here because they used to have a happy hour with a "charcuterie board." You had to pay for your drinks and there was no meat (look up the definition). They give you credit towards breakfast but there was no breakfast because the chef did not show up! The toilet in our friends' room was broken and it took a while for a manager to show up. This place is expensive and you DO NOT get what you hoped you paid for. I assume this is a sign of poor absentee ownership.

We cannot wait to return!! This was our first visit and it was wonderful! The staff were all so accommodating and welcoming. The included happy hour and breakfast were delicious. We also ate at the in-house restaurant - The Fancy Farmer - for dinner....super yummy! The only small issue - emphasis on small - was with the TV in the room. We stayed in a lodge room, so next time, we are going to try a larger cabin room with a fireplace! The grounds were a pleasant suprise as well - with a babbling brook and pond. Very serene and quaint. Another bonus was the entertainment room on our floor - with all the board games and old school arcade games available! I have recommended this boutique hotel to all of my friends, family, and coworkers!!

The room was clean and cozy. The bathroom room was immaculate and looked like the toilet, sink, and tub were new or very well maintained. The breakfast basket was dropped off outside the room and contained hot coffee in a thermos, delicious fresh muffins, and apples. A good start to the day. The only problem was that the sofa and chair were low and difficult for this old soul to get out of. The bed was comfy and the sheets soft with a warm light duvet. The iron bed frame was lovely and not squeaky at all.
