My husband & I visited Split with our two children ages 6 & 9. We stayed for 2 nights and Hotel Kastel had everything we needed. It had a beautiful view from outside the bedroom windows, close distance to everything you could need in Split! If you have a car, the parking offered off-site is quite a ways away from the hotel, but that was told to use in advance. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Hotel Kastel!!

Friendly and helpful staff, got an upgrade. Lovely room but many stairs, if that is a problem book a room at a lower floor. Especially if you have much luggage. Parking is about 15 min away, EUR15/day. Right by the Promenade, beautiful view. Close to everything, great place to stay!

This hotel is right in the center of the promenade, by the castle. However don’t bring lots of luggage as cars can’t get up to the steps - it is in a pedestrian area. It is tucked away , difficult to find first time so talk to hotel for directions beforehand. Staff are very friendly, and it’s good with breakfast included if you are ok with a simple breakfast.

We hired the shuttle for an airport pickup, we would highly recommend this as he dropped us off quite a distance from the hotel as it is walk in only. The hotel staff met us at the car and walked us back to the hotel. We arrived at midnight and I know there is no way we would have found the hotel otherwise. It feels quite sketchy in the dark but we had a different feel in the morning. Nice breakfast and the staff are lovely. we were wondering how we were going to get picked up in the morning for our cruise but the cruise staff walked to our hotel as you can not drive to it.

This is an excellent hotel right in the middle of everything. The location could not be beat: few steps from Split Riva, 2-3 minutes walk from the port and from the bus stop, right within Diocletian Palace and other historical places in Split. Plenty of dining and shopping choices within few steps from the hotel. I found the hotel to be very clean. Breakfast buffet was excellent! It is important to point out that this hotel is located in one of the historical houses in Split, so there is no elevator. In addition, there are two flights of stairs to get to the entrance. These two flights of stars are made of old stone so, very slippery if it is raining.So, definitively not a good option for the seniors unless you are very fit and get a room in the first two floors. The room was small, but it had a view of the ocean and the Riva. Very clean, nice bathroom. There was a minibar and I thought the prices were acceptable. One suggestion to the owners: Could you please, include in your coffee selection instant nespresso without sugar or milk? Many people do not take sugar in their coffee and many have milk intolerance.

Great location, all the tours I went on were within 5 minutes walk and in the old town. With windows shut I had no issues with sound at night. Friendly staff. The taxi can't drop you off right outside the hotel and is a short walk. There is no lift so you can be climbing a few level of stair. For me this was fine; but for others it maybe something they want to consider.

Excellent location! The hotel does not have a lift for suitcases and there are not always able bodied persons to take them up the stairs. Guests should be aware of this as not all travellers are physically capable of taking their luggage up and down four flights of stairs.

Nice sea view from our room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Tough part was walking up 2 flights of stairs with luggage. No elevator so be prepared.

Excellent location in the old city of Split. All major attractions were easily accessible on foot. The room was clean with all essential amenities and looked elegant. The bathroom was a decent size and convenient. The beds were comfortable which helped us to get restful sleep after a long day.

Excellent stay in Hotel Kastel 1700. Perfect location, with harbour view in what was once a corner tower of Diocletian’s Palace. Clean, comfortable room, with nice spacious shower and good firm mattress. Noise from outside was no problem with windows closed. Great breakfast selection, with lots of fresh fruit available. Entrance is a bit difficult to find, around the back. Would recommend airport pick-up, as cabs are much more expensive. Would stay here again.

A group of us stayed in 2 of the apartments away from the hotel. Very clean & well furnished. Free wine in both rooms, beer in the fridge :-)

Right in the old town of split, so as you would expect this is an old building. Rooms on the small side but equipped well with kettle hairdryer safe fridge. No lifts so need to be able to climb the stairs. Help available to carry luggage on arrival but due to early departure not available when we left. Good breakfast in very small breakfast room. Was fine for us as hotel was not full but could get busy in high season. Kindly allowed us to make a sandwich prior to breakfast time to take to the airport. Friendly team at the hotel.

Friendly and very helpful staff. Great location: a few steps to the waterfront, a few steps to Diocletian's Palace. But in a pedestrian area so you need to walk with your luggage to get there/leave. The room I stayed in was dated with a small bathroom. Overall a good experience.

The room we stayed in was newly renovated and very nice - especially the bathroom. Had amazing AC which is not always common and was a lifesaver during the heatwave. Opted into the hotel transfer which was great and the staff was extremely helpful in getting that organized. Location was perfect you’re 2 minutes from the boardwalk and close to a popular cab/uber pickup & dropoff site. Great food options immediately when exiting the annex building we were in which was also convenient.

Loved this hotel! Right in the center of everything. Staff are charming, rooms are clean (with great views), WiFi works great, tons of stuff to do nearby and you can walk everywhere in town. Special shout-out to Anna, who was so kind and helpful. Not a good fit if you can’t climb stairs.

Booked a room in the annex, didn't realise it was a 5 min walk from the main hotel and up loads of stairs! Basic room but clean very noisy but I expect most rooms are in the old town.

Great location. We had the duplex suite sea view, good room with a view of the port, very clean, good shower, great Aircon! Ana, Mijo and the staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough to help with whatever queries or questions we had. Would recommend.

The staff at the Hotel work over and above. I injured my arm severely on the airport shuttle. They were able to arrange for a Dr to attend not once but twice. They also assisted in arranging our transport with Minibud (with whom I was having a terrible Time arranging our transport). The breakfast buffet is excellent and the serving staff is very friendly, attentive and professional. I would stay here again.

This small hotel is in the perfect location right in the heart of the old town but overlooking the main seafront with restuarants, bars and views right outside the door. The rooms are not huge, but very comfy beds and pillows and the views are amazing. All the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, loaned me €20 when I didn’t have my bank card. The Hotel Kaštel 1700 was in a perfect location for exploring Split, adjacent to Diocletian’s Palace and a two minute walk from the Split Riva. It’s also a 10 minute walk from the ferry port which was convenient. The room was comfortable with plenty of room for two people to be comfortable in a twin room. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, providing a city map and useful information on the best options for exploring Split. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel on my next visit to Split.

Excellent stay in Hotel Kastel 1700. Perfect location, with harbour view in what was once a corner tower of Diocletian’s Palace. Clean, comfortable room, with nice spacious shower and good firm mattress. Noise from outside was no problem with windows closed. Great breakfast selection, with lots of fresh fruit available. Entrance is a bit difficult to find, around the back. Would recommend airport pick-up, as cabs are much more expensive. Would stay here again.

This is an excellent hotel right in the middle of everything. The location could not be beat: few steps from Split Riva, 2-3 minutes walk from the port and from the bus stop, right within Diocletian Palace and other historical places in Split. Plenty of dining and shopping choices within few steps from the hotel. I found the hotel to be very clean. Breakfast buffet was excellent! It is important to point out that this hotel is located in one of the historical houses in Split, so there is no elevator. In addition, there are two flights of stairs to get to the entrance. These two flights of stars are made of old stone so, very slippery if it is raining.So, definitively not a good option for the seniors unless you are very fit and get a room in the first two floors. The room was small, but it had a view of the ocean and the Riva. Very clean, nice bathroom. There was a minibar and I thought the prices were acceptable. One suggestion to the owners: Could you please, include in your coffee selection instant nespresso without sugar or milk? Many people do not take sugar in their coffee and many have milk intolerance.

This property was a very fun boutique hotel. We stayed in the annex which was a little walk from the hotel itself. Very nice! Quiet and well taken care of. You would not want to stay here if climbing stairs is an issue. Lots of steps with No elevator. If you can do with that then it’s a great place to stay. Awesome breakfast!!

Nettes , kleines , sauberes Hotel !! Mit dem Airport Shuttle p.P 8€ kommt man direkt am Hafen an …. Beste Lage, direkt am Hafen und somit auch mitten im geschehen. Der Empfang war freundlich. Es wurde auch stehts gefragt ob alles okay ist. Gepäck konnte dort aufbewahrt werden. Zimmer ist groß und sauber ..(zur Stadtseite,)Fenster sind super Isoliert, man hat nichts von dem Trubel auf dem Marktplatz mitbekommen. Wir hatten mit Frühstück (war okay) Der Kaffee hat leider garnicht geschmeckt. Direkt, vor der Tür gibt es unzählige Restaurants und Coffeeshop in den man frühstücken kann. Split ist wirklich eine Reise wert, wir sind immer noch hell auf begeistert.

Veldig sentralt i Split sentrum / gamlebyen. Kort vei til alle fasiliteter. Et stykke å gå til parkeringsplass for leiebil, og ikke minst MYE oppover bakke som var tunge i 35 grader.. Vi hadde rom med sjøutsikt mot havnen, lite støy til tross for mye folk på utsiden. Godt isolert. Klimaanlegg gjorde det fint og kjølig på rommet. Anbefaler å kjøpe frokost på hotellet (15Euro), dette var mye bedre enn overprisede restauranter langs sjøen. Hyggelig betjening.

Amazing view over the Split Riva and harbor. The windows were able to block out the late night restaurant sounds on the Riva. Spacious room, compared to other EU hotel rooms. Problems with AC and the mini fridge were taken care of rapidly. Breakfast was plentiful and a good variety, although the breakfast room is small. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Lots of stairs but no elevator.

The staff were very helpful. They met us at the taxi and helped with our bags. The rooms were clean and quiet despite being right in the centre and had everything we needed. The aircon was great which was important as the weather was very hot. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel but there are many nice places all within a few minute walk

The location is pretty much as central you can get, just a short walk from the Riva within the Old Town. Both the bus station and catamaran berths are within walkable distance, and a beach can be found just slightly further away. The room itself is pretty spacious with a view overlooking the harbour. The only minor issue was the WiFi signal which was a bit temperamental at times, but it works well for casual usage. The room was clean and in good condition. Staff was very friendly and told us everything we needed to know when we arrived. They were also able to store our luggage after checking out.

We stayed in the place about 100m away on the top floor; clean beds and bathroom, comfortable and quite modern. It was a few flights of stairs which worked for us but may be an issue for some. It’s really among everything old town, all the shops and restaurants. Unfortunately the bar/club across the square wanted to keep its door open and its music loud until about 2am but the hotel does have modern windows and blinds which did help block some of the noise. People at the hotel could not have been more helpful including collecting our luggage with us (you can’t park in old town).
