Everything was incredible from the moment we arrived. Early check in was available, the team arranged parking for our car. Had dinner both nights at the restaurant and can’t fault the food, my chef partner loved everything on the menu. Staff were so attentive and lovely. Good location if you’re looking for somewhere slightly out of town, a little quieter. Only a 20ish minute walk into old town.

Our stay at The Tanneries was exceptional. The property is gorgeous and modern yet fitting the historical surroundings, the rooms are also very modern and lovely with immediate proximity/ views to the water. Most importantly the staff is wonderful. On the first day of my stay I got a massage, scrub and facial with Katarina and it was excellent. Then the next day the reception staff went out of their way to help when my colleague was not feeling well. I can’t say enough about The Tanneries hotel and how they go out of their way for guests.

A very unique/ strange property set amongst derelict buildings. The hotel itself is very upmarket, clean and modern. The Moet and nibbles in the room on arrival was a lovely touch. A shuttle to town could have been useful with no real bar there. The walk is 20-30 minutes Breakfast was great with lots of choice and great outlook. Some homeless boys showed up outside asking for money and looking at my hand bag while I was sunbathing, also going in the swimming pool entrance which made us wary of our belongings and safety. I wouldn’t call it a spa hotel as there is no one on site and we tried to get massages on 3 occasions. We were offered 7.30pm at night which was not ideal but eventually after asking several times my husband got one but I didn’t. The breakfast restaurant staff were very welcoming and the man on reception (with tattoos, sorry I don’t remember his name) was very accommodating, attentive and helpful. The evening restaurant staff we did not find very friendly. The first night we went for a drink around 10/10,30pm on our return from walking to town. I am not keen on fizzy drinks and asked for orange juice which they were unable to provide, the subsequent nights we went to the only other bar a few doors down where we did feel welcome and offered food choices other than fish. The property and cleaning is 5 star but the attention to detail and small things at a 5 star hotel from staff was lacking a little for me.

Hotel was great with nice courteous staffs. We stayed in Junior double room (no balcony). Upgrade request was denied. Rooms was very clean and had wonderful view of sea and we could hear waves which was relaxing. Had welcome sparkling wine. Rooms had steam shower which was great to have. Stunning accommodation. Friendly and responsive service. Great restaurant and breakfast great spa treatment. Very highly recommended. Valet car parking when lane bays are full so allow 10 mins for staff to retrieve your car. Steam room in upstairs bathroom. Fabulous museum in close proximity. Lovely walk into town. Taxi back from far western side is 10 Euro.

Had a wonderful stay at The Tanneries Hotel. The biggest downside is the road to get there is technically under construction, so it is mostly dirt and isn’t meant for parking, but that is not at the fault of the hotel, since that is managed by the city. Don’t let this deter you though—the service, views, rooms, amenities, food, and ambiance are all impeccable. Huge shout out to all the employees there (especially Ioannis) for making us feel welcome and comfortable.

Perfect stay, very stylish, one of the best hotels we stayed so far. Only thing to improve would be the outdoor jacuzzi. It’s so cold, it should be a hot jacuzzi! Than it would be the most perfect stay.

This is a terrifically stylish and well-run hotel. It’s the kind of place that becomes the star of your holiday - I couldn’t wait to get back there. The rooms and the entire hotel are serene and gorgeous - all cream stone walls, marble, wood, floating staircases, with wonderful views straight out to sea. We enjoyed our jacuzzi and steam/shower room. The sound of the waves at night was so relaxing. We also loved the indoor pool and spa where we both had relaxing treatments. The breakfasts were excellent, taken outside by the sea. We were able to sunbathe on recliners on the narrow area between the hotel and the sea, but the hotel isn’t really aimed at those who want a poolside holiday. The staff - receptionists, owner, waiters, cleaners - everyone, really couldn’t have been more charming and helpful, aiding us with taxis, a hire car and suchlike. The walk to Chania took about 20 minutes. The taxi from the airport cost 30eu - in cash only, which caught us out. I recommend this place without reservation.

We went to this hotel because of the view and the sauna - and we got so positively suprised! The sea view is spectacular, just outside the window. 🌊💫the breakfast amazing with options à la varte. The people working there was very friendly also. Thanks a lot and hope to be back! 💞

This was one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at. It was like staying in a museum. Each person at the front desk was extremely personable and pleasant. We felt very welcomed. We had dinner on Valentine’s Day, which was easily Michelin star rated. The wine sommelier was fantastic. She paired the wines for each portion of the meal perfectly, and the food was dynamite. The young man who was taking care of us never let me fill my water glass myself. He was fantastic as well. Just walking into the place was wonderful. It felt spacious and very clean. The room was bright, clean, and had a wonderful view off the balcony to the ocean. You could see the town of Chania to the left and also you could see the lighthouse. The only thing negative I’d have to say is that there was limited parking. But you could park in an adjacent lot about 200 m up the hill. So you could always find parking. Quite often they had an attendant who would take your car up the hill for you. So that wasn’t so bad. If that’s the worst thing I can talk about, there’s really nothing bad that can be said. Oh and the breakfast was wonderful too. Hands down, this was the best overall experience we have had traveling anywhere.

We have travelled a lot and this hotel has one of the most stunning interiors of any boutique hotel we have stayed at. The staff and family members who run the hotel couldn’t be nicer or more helpful. The restaurant serves wonderful food and is a destination in itself but the modern clean design won us over from the first minute to the last. The attention to detail is stunning and the style of the whole hotel ticks every box for us and we loved our stay there. 10/10

This is a terrifically stylish and well-run hotel. It’s the kind of place that becomes the star of your holiday - I couldn’t wait to get back there. The rooms and the entire hotel are serene and gorgeous - all cream stone walls, marble, wood, floating staircases, with wonderful views straight out to sea. We enjoyed our jacuzzi and steam/shower room. The sound of the waves at night was so relaxing. We also loved the indoor pool and spa where we both had relaxing treatments. The breakfasts were excellent, taken outside by the sea. We were able to sunbathe on recliners on the narrow area between the hotel and the sea, but the hotel isn’t really aimed at those who want a poolside holiday. The staff - receptionists, owner, waiters, cleaners - everyone, really couldn’t have been more charming and helpful, aiding us with taxis, a hire car and suchlike. The walk to Chania took about 20 minutes. The taxi from the airport cost 30eu - in cash only, which caught us out. I recommend this place without reservation.

This was one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at. It was like staying in a museum. Each person at the front desk was extremely personable and pleasant. We felt very welcomed. We had dinner on Valentine’s Day, which was easily Michelin star rated. The wine sommelier was fantastic. She paired the wines for each portion of the meal perfectly, and the food was dynamite. The young man who was taking care of us never let me fill my water glass myself. He was fantastic as well. Just walking into the place was wonderful. It felt spacious and very clean. The room was bright, clean, and had a wonderful view off the balcony to the ocean. You could see the town of Chania to the left and also you could see the lighthouse. The only thing negative I’d have to say is that there was limited parking. But you could park in an adjacent lot about 200 m up the hill. So you could always find parking. Quite often they had an attendant who would take your car up the hill for you. So that wasn’t so bad. If that’s the worst thing I can talk about, there’s really nothing bad that can be said. Oh and the breakfast was wonderful too. Hands down, this was the best overall experience we have had traveling anywhere.

This property is beautiful. Modern design and great views. The staff were very friendly and our stay was pleasant. The only feedback is to maybe include some sort of privacy curtain or something so the person who is showering is closed off and the others can access their bags and the mirror. Aside from that, the room was excellent.

Our stay at The Tanneries was exceptional. The property is gorgeous and modern yet fitting the historical surroundings, the rooms are also very modern and lovely with immediate proximity/ views to the water. Most importantly the staff is wonderful. On the first day of my stay I got a massage, scrub and facial with Katarina and it was excellent. Then the next day the reception staff went out of their way to help when my colleague was not feeling well. I can’t say enough about The Tanneries hotel and how they go out of their way for guests.

A very unique/ strange property set amongst derelict buildings. The hotel itself is very upmarket, clean and modern. The Moet and nibbles in the room on arrival was a lovely touch. A shuttle to town could have been useful with no real bar there. The walk is 20-30 minutes Breakfast was great with lots of choice and great outlook. Some homeless boys showed up outside asking for money and looking at my hand bag while I was sunbathing, also going in the swimming pool entrance which made us wary of our belongings and safety. I wouldn’t call it a spa hotel as there is no one on site and we tried to get massages on 3 occasions. We were offered 7.30pm at night which was not ideal but eventually after asking several times my husband got one but I didn’t. The breakfast restaurant staff were very welcoming and the man on reception (with tattoos, sorry I don’t remember his name) was very accommodating, attentive and helpful. The evening restaurant staff we did not find very friendly. The first night we went for a drink around 10/10,30pm on our return from walking to town. I am not keen on fizzy drinks and asked for orange juice which they were unable to provide, the subsequent nights we went to the only other bar a few doors down where we did feel welcome and offered food choices other than fish. The property and cleaning is 5 star but the attention to detail and small things at a 5 star hotel from staff was lacking a little for me.

The location of the hotel is magical. The morning is peaceful and the evening lively with the hotel restaurant and another neighboring restaurant. The hotel staff are kind, friendly and very helpful. Die Unterkunft liegt in einem heruntergekommenen Bauruinengelände, das mehrere Tavernen beherbergt und ist noch überhaupt nicht fertig. Das Hotel hatte überhaupt keinen Aussenbereich mit Liegemöglichkeiten, wie das in der Hotelbeschreibung von Expedia angegeben war. Die Aussenfläche war ein Fussweg. Bis nachts um 2.00 Uhr wurden wir mit Musik aus dem danebenliegenden Restaurant beschallt und konnten nicht schlafen. Das Frühstück war spartanisch und immer gleich. Es gab keine Parkplätze am Hotel. Für den Preis völlig inakzeptabel und angesichts der Verhältnisse nicht zumutbar.

Had a wonderful stay at The Tanneries Hotel. The biggest downside is the road to get there is technically under construction, so it is mostly dirt and isn’t meant for parking, but that is not at the fault of the hotel, since that is managed by the city. Don’t let this deter you though—the service, views, rooms, amenities, food, and ambiance are all impeccable. Huge shout out to all the employees there (especially Ioannis) for making us feel welcome and comfortable.

Everything was incredible from the moment we arrived. Early check in was available, the team arranged parking for our car. Had dinner both nights at the restaurant and can’t fault the food, my chef partner loved everything on the menu. Staff were so attentive and lovely. Good location if you’re looking for somewhere slightly out of town, a little quieter. Only a 20ish minute walk into old town.

A very unique/ strange property set amongst derelict buildings. The hotel itself is very upmarket, clean and modern. The Moet and nibbles in the room on arrival was a lovely touch. A shuttle to town could have been useful with no real bar there. The walk is 20-30 minutes Breakfast was great with lots of choice and great outlook. Some homeless boys showed up outside asking for money and looking at my hand bag while I was sunbathing, also going in the swimming pool entrance which made us wary of our belongings and safety. I wouldn’t call it a spa hotel as there is no one on site and we tried to get massages on 3 occasions. We were offered 7.30pm at night which was not ideal but eventually after asking several times my husband got one but I didn’t. The breakfast restaurant staff were very welcoming and the man on reception (with tattoos, sorry I don’t remember his name) was very accommodating, attentive and helpful. The evening restaurant staff we did not find very friendly. The first night we went for a drink around 10/10,30pm on our return from walking to town. I am not keen on fizzy drinks and asked for orange juice which they were unable to provide, the subsequent nights we went to the only other bar a few doors down where we did feel welcome and offered food choices other than fish. The property and cleaning is 5 star but the attention to detail and small things at a 5 star hotel from staff was lacking a little for me.

Close to perfection! Very nice hotel by the sea. Excellent service. Rooms are fantastic with a view on the sea, the area is quite, a bit far from the center but if you have a car it should not be a problem. And last but not least: the restaurant is really great, probably the best in Chania I had the pleasure to experience in 3 different stays in tje last 5 years. My new favorite!

This is a terrifically stylish and well-run hotel. It’s the kind of place that becomes the star of your holiday - I couldn’t wait to get back there. The rooms and the entire hotel are serene and gorgeous - all cream stone walls, marble, wood, floating staircases, with wonderful views straight out to sea. We enjoyed our jacuzzi and steam/shower room. The sound of the waves at night was so relaxing. We also loved the indoor pool and spa where we both had relaxing treatments. The breakfasts were excellent, taken outside by the sea. We were able to sunbathe on recliners on the narrow area between the hotel and the sea, but the hotel isn’t really aimed at those who want a poolside holiday. The staff - receptionists, owner, waiters, cleaners - everyone, really couldn’t have been more charming and helpful, aiding us with taxis, a hire car and suchlike. The walk to Chania took about 20 minutes. The taxi from the airport cost 30eu - in cash only, which caught us out. I recommend this place without reservation.

This was one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at. It was like staying in a museum. Each person at the front desk was extremely personable and pleasant. We felt very welcomed. We had dinner on Valentine’s Day, which was easily Michelin star rated. The wine sommelier was fantastic. She paired the wines for each portion of the meal perfectly, and the food was dynamite. The young man who was taking care of us never let me fill my water glass myself. He was fantastic as well. Just walking into the place was wonderful. It felt spacious and very clean. The room was bright, clean, and had a wonderful view off the balcony to the ocean. You could see the town of Chania to the left and also you could see the lighthouse. The only thing negative I’d have to say is that there was limited parking. But you could park in an adjacent lot about 200 m up the hill. So you could always find parking. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt exceptional. The staff welcomed us warmly and handled every request with effortless professionalism.
