Sitting on the balcony watching the river was lovely and the room was comfortable and well appointed. Unfortunately, it is a poorly-managed property that is not in line with its “luxury” status and pricing. We arrived to find a dirty spoon in the ice bucket and someone’s dirty bathing suit in one of the drawers. We were also notified that the spa was closed, which was a major disappointment. The pool had a drown film on the bottom and a green tinge to the water. While the staff was accommodating they were poorly trained and had difficulty addressing basic questions. We won’t be going back.

Vacationing family of 5 with 3 kids, 2 connecting rooms. Had a fabulous time at Oaks on the River. Spacious luxurious rooms, very comfortable beds, 100 % clean, friendly staff all over, great restaurant for evening dining and ala carte breakfast. Beautiful river view from rooms and restaurant. Only inconvenience was the heated pool was not heated :-(

The facility is beautiful and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. When we first got to our room there were glasses on the balcony full of some drink and a half full can of beer. We weren't crazy about having to handle those and throw them away.

We love this hotel!! It is beautiful inside and out. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable with amazing furniture. The bathroom was luxurious with a huge walk in shower. We especially loved our balcony overlooking the river. The view is to die for. It is truly breathtaking. We had a delicious dinner in the restaurant. Our waitress was friendly and informative. I recommend this hotel to everyone! It is a unique, hidden gem!

The rooms are comfortable, with the riverfront side giving you a nice balcony and view. These rooms have very nice open walk in showers with multiple sprays. The staff is very courteous and helpful and the whole place feels classy without being stuffy. Brunswick is about a 20 minute drive away, 35 or so for St Simons. A nice resort without having to pay resort prices.

This place is great but gutters/ downspouts drp all night making a loud drum sound. It never quits. Had to drown out noise by playing tv ultra loud all night. It does it during day too. Told personnel and they said they have had other complaints about it. Other than that place is new, nice, clean, and good people

Oaks on the River couldn't be more different from the chain hotels and mostly in good ways. The physical layout of rooms set in multiple buildings including two 200-year old mansions is the most obvious. Our king size bedroom felt very king-size. We arrived late in the rain and found our room with A MAP. Dining room was filled but the room service option was there. The breakfast buffet was wonderful and well worth its $25 charge, The grounds and dining areas in the mansions were striking. We chose OotR by chance in the midst of a 1600 mile driving trip but plan to return to stay and visit NYC.

The hotel itself was very clean, the staff was courteous and customer friendly. The room was beautiful. However, we stayed at this hotel the week of our 25th wedding anniversary trip, and had booked this hotel and spa services MONTHS in advance. I called the hotel numerous times to confirm the spa services, and they were confirmed. The day of the service, we were informed by a hotel staff member an hour before the service, that one person was sick, and cancelled both of our services. We had booked a massage for each of us. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. It really portrayed the hotel to us in a negative light, all things considered. Will not be staying there again.

What a gem. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the most amazing staff members and each one we met were lovely. There is gorgeous local art for sale and it is a very chic boutique hotel. We travel all over the US and our dinner was the best dinner we’ve had since we were in NYC in the spring. The Chef and his team clearly put their heart and soul into each dish. Our server, Erica was exceptional. The room was well appointed, but I would suggest a small nightstand for water and coffee by the other side of the bed and a bench in the shower for shaving. The pillows and bedding were literally heavenly. I’ve already emailed the company in Spain to see if I can purchase my own. The housekeeper was delightful this morning as well. Will absolutely be back.

Loved this hotel. Right on the river. Fabulous restaurant in the hotel. All staff were extraordinary, helpful, available, made me feel very welcome. Will stay there again next year. Historic buildings in the area and the Sugar Marsh Cottage Specialty Confections were within easy walking distance. Also another very good restaurant was in walking distance. Georgia Tidewater Outfitters two hour boat tour is worth taking.

Nice property, liked the riverfront aspect although definitely not “adjacent to golf course”— nothing near by. We were on the first floor although our reservation said “balcony”— drapes needed to be kept close because we had a direct view of parked cars and very bright light in the parking lot. Room very clean, felt upscale. Had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Dinner great although not many choices for non-meat eaters. Lovely wait staff. Breakfast inexpensive but wait staff member had no personality (until time for paying check) and did not enter our order correctly. I would stay again for a one-night stay-over but not for an extended time.

The best was the lovely gentleman at the restaurant. His customer service was top-notch. A group of people came in wanting to watch various things and he accommodated everyone while making sure that everyone else got attention and served. The food was delicious and the view was great. I was just sad I missed happy hour!
