Gladstone Motel

A generic cheap roadside motel in town. Max. one (queen) bed per room. No staff on site; call for key code upon arrival. Small, somewhat worn rooms. Clean. Noisy window unit heat/AC. Small TV with limited channels. Small refrig. (with tiny freezer), microwave, coffee maker and wifi all worked fine. Convenient parking.

Where to begin? I had travelled for over 24 hours and booked online via Expedia. When I arrived I read a sign that said it was contactless and to check in you had to call a number. I did….no answer. Tried again. No answer. Finally, on the third time I was finally given a code to get into my room. The exterior around the motel was beautiful - there were an abundance of flowers and the parking lot had just been replaced. As I had travelled for over 24 hours the first thing I wanted was a shower. For over 15 minutes I tried to get hot water but nothing. Pure cold! When it finally came it was like warm.

It was good as always, I stay there often. Only issues were that I couldn’t get ahold of the motel manager right away to get my room number and code for the room, and the parking lot is super small and hard to navigate, especially when it’s full. But other than that, very clean and nice.

Places to eat, to get a drink, or to walk at a park are literally ONE block away which is awesome. I slept with my windows open. Darling decor. Great restaurant called The Dewdrop is extremely close by which rocked. It's a tiny but VERY CLEAN motor in where you park right at your room's door. The housekeeping staff was terrific! This was a perfect stopping point for me on my long road trip, and I had a wonderful time. I will be back! PS: Rooms are NOT huge. I traveled alone; if I'd had a friend along, it might have been a skitch cramped.

The property was easy to find and had excellent parking. It was right down the street from an excellent restaurant, The Dewdrop. The carpet was clean but stained.... the water pressure for the shower was not good... took a while to get hot but once it did, it was good. It was so nice to have a fridge, microwave and coffee pot in the room. For the price, it was ok.

Okay so we do a lot of traveling and I like to use the small mom and pop places to help them survive a little easier. The only thing I can say about this place is even though it was about 70 dollars a night it was still too much. We had a late check in due to early morning work and travel afterwards. I called earlier to get a room number and code so I didn’t have to do it later since there was nobody at the desk ever. Contactless check in is not working as far as I can tell. So we get there after a long day of work and travel and as all we want to do is rest and the room is filthy. Apparently they don’t check the rooms to see if they are clean. I was in the room for about 20 minutes and my allergies wouldn’t let me get comfortable. We called the office and they switched us to a too another room which was almost as dirty, it did smell like a urinal cake but not mold so we stayed for 2of the three nights. Moral of the story is you should NOT stay here if you have any standards at all. Totally outdated, unclean and disgusting. If it wasn’t the 4th of July we would have moved to a different motel it was that bad.

It was an inexpensive room so expectations weren’t unreasonably high but the bathroom drains were so slow that you couldn’t shower, and carpet was soaked next to the AC unit. Area was nice and walkable.

Outside the property was very clean, our room which was number 10 was not so clean, there was a bunch of dirt and toenails on the side of the bed stand which look like it hadn't been vacuumed in many moons behind the refrigerator there was food and dust and dirt which was also not vacuumed, there was dead bugs inside the bathroom and dead flies all along the window sill They definitely have to do a way better job on their housekeeping, I personally sprayed bed bug spray with all the sheets off and disinfected the whole room with a can of Lysol

Perfect for a quick nights stay while passing through. Bed was clean and comfy. The carpet was pretty gross, should definitely be replaced but overall a decent cheap motel.

It's a older motel but clean and quiet. Check in by phone for code and room number as no staff on site. It's a short walk from downtown. Very clean

We always stay here because it's clean, near downtown and the prices are reasonable

I had to ask 3 times for them to clean the fridge, the walls are very thin; I heard my neighbors snoring and just regular talking, and there was an odd smell in the bathroom. Overall it's comfy, you get what you pay for.

This is a contact free motel. I never received the email to check in, so I called the phone number listed. I was able to obtain the door code. The roooms are old and dated. The bathroom was very small and creepy. The water constantly ran. The shower was gross and creeepy as well. There’s no privacy-the shades don’t close all the way and the sticker on the windows doesn’t give full privacy.

Small older motel but in excellent condition. No staff onsite, everything is handled online or by phone. The phone number is posted on a door near the corner. Everything worked properly and the room was reasonably clean. The only downside is the room was kind of small, the bathroom was tiny and the shower stall felt like a coffin, but for the room rate, it’s a pretty good value.

Dated interior, old looking devote, . Door jamb was busted up like someone had kicked in the door. Needs maintenance repair. Shower head dropped constantly, could not shut off the shower completely to stop the constant drip, drip , drip. . Room was clean. Sheets were clean. Room was warm while outside was cold

Only bad thing i can say is the water didnt warm up very fast in the shower took 15-20mins

Staff was amazing! I called her a bunch and she was super sweet! I forgot my key code twice and she was so gracious telling me what it was and never made me feel like a bother. Room was very clean. We will definitely come back!!

what stay? The woman refused to give us the code to get into the room; unless I gave her my credit card number. When I reminded her the account was paid in full for our week stay through Expedia and I wasn\'t giving her my credit card number, she said "Well you aren\'t staying here and slammed the phone down on my call. When I called Expedia to complain and demand my money back, I got an agent on the line, located in a third world country, who didn\'t understand idioms and the conversation was a waste of my time; when I asked to be transferred to a agent in the United States - he refused to transfer me; instead he said he would call the motel woman and listen to her side of the story. Well he called the woman, she refused to return my money stating I didn\'t give 24 hr notice on the cancellation; no mention of her demanding my credit card number and refusing to give the code to enter the room, or that she hung up on me. Being very dissatisfied and quite angry, I asked to speak to his supervisor. I was transferred to another agent in El Salvador! You could hear the kids and chickens in the background, another waste of my time with nothing to show for it. So, the woman operating the Gladstone Motel beat me out of my money and I had to find another place to stay $$$$$. Expedia was no help what so ever.

This is my go to spot when i work in the area. Self service check in, rooms are spacious, walking distance to bars, food, and other options. Lady i talked with was super friendly and took care my stay as i never know if i have to pack up and leave.

Fantastic place. Homey, clean, comfortable. Contactless: call for check-in upon arrival; smooth and easy. Gladstone has nice places to eat, some sights: cheaper and lower key than Escanaba, a short drive away.

No on-site office. Check-in via posted phone number. Quick, professional, and personable check-in. Room was clean and cozy. Bed comfortable. Staff was very responsive to text messages. Will stay here again on next visit to Gladstone.

It was a neat little motel, very quiet, small, short walk to the beach and the downtown area. Definitely recommend!

Check in was a breeze once I figured out to just call to get my room # and code for the door as there is no front desk. Room was a little dated, but super clean. It was a great budget friendly option as we were just passing through. There was also a really nice diner within walking distance called Dewdrop. It had a great breakfast. Nice and clean too.

This motel is what we would call a ‘mom and pop’ motel. It is located close to downtown Gladstone, which met our needs. The motel is not staffed, so check in is done by calling a phone number posted on the old office door. When we called, we were given our room number and a code to enter into the keypad door lock. The rooms have a step up into the room, so not ada. Our room had a coffee pot, fridge, cable tv, and wifi. The motel exterior is nice too. Cons: the bed felt old and too firm. We are seniors and left with our bodies a bit sore. The room has some musty like odors, but we carry deodorizer spray and was able to mitigate it. The room door is a bit warped and had a large gap at bottom, we used a towel to plug it at night. Tub/shower surround was old and bulgy, don’t lean on the wall! And some mold along the seams. Toilet is the old small round type, and low to the floor. These are not male friendly and really short. We stayed three days, and as is typical these days, no housekeeping during your stay. So when checking in we asked for additional towels, as you only get two. We were told the next morning would get another set, it didn’t happen, but later we snagged the nice housekeeping lady and got a couple more towels. Overall, a nice typical mom and pop motel. We would stay again when visiting the area.
