I made my reservation online and figured check in would be easy. When I got there the lobby was closed and I was given a form through the checkin window. So I had to stand in the cold and fill out the information I already filled out online when making the reservation. Why couldn't I simply show my ID? This was ridiculous and stupid, in my opinion. It's not 1985, online check-in should make things easier and smoother. Apparently people are impersonating other people to steal their room reservations. It was so ridiculous that I had to leave this review. The room was nice and just fine. The check-in process in the cold was what irritated me.
I made my reservation online and figured check in would be easy. When I got there the lobby was closed and I was given a form through the checkin window. Check in was easy. Front desk clerk was friendly and helpful. Kind of weird having to drive through a truck stop to get to the hotel. Truckstop driveway is horrible. Didnt like the bar on the corner of the hotel. Kinda scetchy. Rooms were clean though and everything worked.

The property was an older hotel that has gone through "some" renovations but is in need of much more. The lobby was locked when we arrived at 8pm which had me questioning the safety of the area. We were in room 107 and the sheets were not clean. It reeked of stale smoke even though it was a "No Smoking Property". There was a tan make up smear in the middle at the head of the bed and another unknown spot At the foot of the bed as well. We thought about asking for a new room, but the Reservation Desk Attendant had such a bad runny nose and sniffling so badly that I didn't want to go there. Be careful driving back to the hotel and make sure you avoid the pot holes as there are some really big ones.

you got to drive thru the truck stop and avoid the semi trucks and avoid crater sized pot holes just to get to motel. The room has NO carpet, so the floor is cold. The refrigerator was all wobbly and not very cold. NO door on the bathroom so the person on the bed can see you on the toilet,no privacy in bathroom Only half a,roll toilet paper. Next ime we way stay in the next town and a nicer motel that was actually cheaper online. only stayed here cause it was closer to our destination.

The Drive to it was a nightmare for anyone or a car. Huge Chug holes from truckers.Like a Buch of bombs went off. Truckers everywhere. Our room had no towels. Very outdated as from the 70's. Frig and microwave look like they came from salvation army or roadside pick up.

The parking lot to get to the hotel was like dodging bomb craters. When we did check in, the beds were the smallest queens I have ever seen, more of an oversized twin bed, and uncomfortable. Ive slept on softer dirt. When we returned back after our first night, no one from the hotel had been in to change out towels or make the beds. When we did ask for clean towels, we were interrogated and had to provide the old towels before we could get new ones and had to walk back to get them. Listen old lady night clerk, NO ONE is looking to steal used hotel towels from the middle of some podunk hotel. Never again. Stay far away from this one.

We stood outside in front of a security window to check in. This was at 4pm. The man never opened the door to the lobby. The vinyl floor inside the room was never washed, lots of daylight came through the cracks of the door and all the chrome in the room was pitted and rusty. The drawers of the nightstands had dirt in them and dead bugs.The only good thing about the room was the comfortable mattress. This place needs some tender loving care. It was too bad that the room was pre payed otherwise we would have walked out.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! Open nasty rafters in walkway ceilings on both floors. Motel is VERY OLD and in need of repair. I booked two nights and left at 8:00 AM after the first night. Could not stomach a second night. Refrigerator was old and rusty. Furniture was broken down and very old. Some of the bathroom linens should be thrown in the trash. They’re nasty. The odor in the room smelled moldy and musty. It should be a crime for hotels.com, or any reservations company to advertise this property. It’s HORRENDOUS!!

Very nice room, large and clean. Had a king bed along with a couch and of course refrigerator and microwave. TV has directv, which I think is the best one for hotels. Enjoyed chatting with the gentleman who checked me in. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.

The night clerk seemed like he didn't like his job, or he just wasn't a people person. Basically not friendly. The TV didn't work and my son plugged his phone in, the plug wiggled around. We were exhausted from going to my sister's funeral service, so we didn't complain that night. Also,it was hard to find with GPS. This was on 2/20/26, we checked in around 9 or 10pm. If I stay in Checotah Oklahoma again I will not stay at Walnut Inn again.

the maids cleaned my room and took all my belongings out of it. Said they didn't know I was booked for another night. In the process, my son's melatonin came up missing.

Front desk workers were amazing. I got their names but 2 very polite ladies. Decent location next to highway. Clean room. Good shower. Only slept there for 6 hours but the sleep was good

The night clerk seemed like he didn't like his job, or he just wasn't a people person. Basically not friendly. The TV didn't work and my son plugged his phone in, the plug wiggled around. We were exhausted from going to my sister's funeral service, so we didn't complain that night. Also,it was hard to find with GPS. This was on 2/20/26, we checked in around 9 or 10pm. If I stay in Checotah Oklahoma again I will not stay at Walnut Inn again.

The parking lot to get to the hotel was like dodging bomb craters. When we did check in, the beds were the smallest queens I have ever seen, more of an oversized twin bed, and uncomfortable. Ive slept on softer dirt. When we returned back after our first night, no one from the hotel had been in to change out towels or make the beds. When we did ask for clean towels, we were interrogated and had to provide the old towels before we could get new ones and had to walk back to get them. Listen old lady night clerk, NO ONE is looking to steal used hotel towels from the middle of some podunk hotel. Never again. Stay far away from this one.

The Walnut Inn in Checotah, OK. is the 'only' motel, there is a small one on the edge of town (not recommended!). Employees at the Walnut Inn are wonderful, I have stayed there for the last 5 years and always feel safe(I have always stayed in the bottom front). It is part of a truck stop and sports bar (only one in Checotah-fun and friendly bar to go to) and there is also a wonderful Mexican Restaurant on the property. It is comfortable/clean/could use some renovations but overall is a good price/safe. They don't have coffee pots in the room so I always bring a small portable one, but there is a microwave/fridge in room, as well as cable tv. Close to stores/town.

Check in was easy. Front desk clerk was friendly and helpful. Kind of weird having to drive through a truck stop to get to the hotel. Truckstop driveway is horrible. Didnt like the bar on the corner of the hotel. Kinda scetchy. Rooms were clean though and everything worked.

Front desk workers were amazing. I got their names but 2 very polite ladies. Decent location next to highway. Clean room. Good shower. Only slept there for 6 hours but the sleep was good

you got to drive thru the truck stop and avoid the semi trucks and avoid crater sized pot holes just to get to motel. The room has NO carpet, so the floor is cold. The refrigerator was all wobbly and not very cold. NO door on the bathroom so the person on the bed can see you on the toilet,no privacy in bathroom Only half a,roll toilet paper. Next ime we way stay in the next town and a nicer motel that was actually cheaper online. only stayed here cause it was closer to our destination.

The Drive to it was a nightmare for anyone or a car. Huge Chug holes from truckers.Like a Buch of bombs went off. Truckers everywhere. Our room had no towels. Very outdated as from the 70's. Frig and microwave look like they came from salvation army or roadside pick up.

Desk clerk friendly, room was clean enough for what it was. The reason I give the poor rating is because I checked in at Midnight, exhausted and the air conditioner was off. This really sucked, because the room was about 90°F. Totally miserable for a couple of hours and couldnt sleep. Laying in bed sweating. The short amount of time I had to sleep was precious, and it was wasted lying miserable in the hot room with a weak air conditioner. If youre going to sell a room at $77 / night, it doesnt seem unreasonable to me to leave the air conditioner running at a semi-cool setting. Very disappointing for an otherwise decent motel. Also, fix the potholes in the parking lot.
