Upjohn House Inn

The room was nice, the bath facilities were odd, the singlet and bathtub were in the same room as the bed, a “divider” was provided for privacy. The tub had no shower curtain. I understand it is a converted home, however a shower curtain would be possible.

I wouldn't stay here again. The check in process was confusing and requires you to go to a second location aside from where you're staying in order to check in. For that reason alone I'd avoid this place. But there are plenty of others. The lock on the external door was sticking the very first time I attempted to enter. This required an employee to open the door from the inside. There is no guarantee this lock won't stick when you're trying to get rest after a night out. There is no shower in the room I stayed it. The toilet is in a closet as others have mentioned and the sink is on the far side of the room. It was an interesting place but seriously this went terribly and it almost went so much worse. Don't roll the dice on this place.

Checked in at The Henderson Castle as required and offered to move from original Upjohn B&B room to a room in the Castle. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The Castle, grounds and historic contents were beautiful. Rooms are not ideal- uncomfortable despite pretty furnishings and the “shower” was awkward/dysfunctional. Breakfast and bar was nice.

I booked Upjohn House but was told I had to come to Henderson Castle to get the keys, and I should stay there instead. It was nice enough, the setting of Henderson Castle is beautiful. I had a lovely French breakfast my first morning, but when I came down the second morning, no one was around, I was told breakfast was from 6:30-9:30, and I was downstairs at 7:00. So no breakfast the second day, I was really disappointed as I left the place. I liked my little room, the bed was comfortable and I had a big jacuzzi tub, which was much appreciated. But the pedestal sink was broken at the base and would wobble whenever I leaned on it. The room had a space heater because the windows were drafty, but I felt uneasy using it while sleeping. Also tripped the breaker a few times trying to dry my hair, which was annoying, but quickly reset. Not a great experience since Henderson Castle has always had an aura of mystery, I was excited to stay. Oh well. I probably won’t stay there again.
