Cute Japanese rooms, great location right in Gion & very close to downtown. Some fridge drinks included was a nice touch. Firm beds & pillows tho.

We absolutely loved our stay at Gion Misen Hotel! The hotel is located in one of Kyoto's most charming historic neighborhoods, where walking through the narrow streets and traditional architecture truly feels like stepping back in time. The area is peaceful and relaxing, yet it's just a short walk to the river, wonderful restaurants, Nishiki Market, shops, and many of Kyoto's most beautiful attractions. It offers the perfect balance of tranquility and convenience. The hotel itself is clean and cute. The rooms are comfortable, and the entire property has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. What made our stay even more special was the staff—they were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always happy to help with recommendations, taxi request or any questions we had. We would definitely stay at Gion Misen again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable stay in Kyoto.

There was no dark shade for the windows and the sunrise was at 4am so it woke and bothered all of us. Aside from that, we would stay again in this hotel. Highly recommended. Jyothika and Judy at the FD were very accommodating. Kudos to them.

The initial room we were allocated was downstairs and very musty, but the hotel manager moved us up to the third floor and the room was great. Not a big room, as expected in Japan, but more than adequate for our two night stay. Was a bit hard to find initially, but location was great in the Gion area for eating, bars overlooking the river, sightseeing and easy access to the trains (including the local train to Osaka at a significantly lower price than the Bullet train). Well worth the stay for the location alone!
