The rooms here are clean and spacious, and include a well-stocked kitchen plus dining room, roomy couch in the living area and very comfortable bed. There’s even a washing machine in the bathroom. The accommodation is nestled amongst a leafy garden setting and there’s ample secure parking for an extra cost. There’s plenty of eating places within walking distance.

Very noisy from pub music and also trucks at the rear of the pub arriving very early in the morning. Pillows horrible. Bathroom door locked itself and then staff just removed the handle, the door was not functional and we couldn’t let our children in the bathroom on their own in case they locked themselves in. Horrible smell from stairwell. Very tight and limited parking even though they charge for it. Guest wifi doesn’t work. Only good thing is the location.

Great location, no elevators so if room is not on ground floor, pack light. We didn't do the cafes near by but they all looked good. Have tried the resturant next door in the old lion previously and it was good. Some under cover parking, not as expensive as some hotels. All up good value in a great location.

The location is excellent for access to N Adelaide and the CBD. The Zoo and the Botanic Gardens are within a half-hour walk. There is a bus stop outside the building for the free 98a and 98c busses. The apartments are large, comfortable and well set up with a kitchen, washing machine and dryer. The car park is under the buildings, while we were there the entry door was faulty and we had to be careful when using the exit lane for entry as well. The interiors appear to have been updated but the style is still rather outdated.

Hotel was great. Room was spacious. Had everything you need. Onsite under cover parking was $15. Only cons were our exhaust fan in the bathroom was very loud and one electric blanket didn't work.

Absolutely spotless!!!! Very comfortable bed and couch. Quiet (unless you count the birds chirping). Free city bus stops out front (both directions). Fabulous restaurants and cafes within a five minute walk. Cheerful and helpfull staff. Small downside - no chest of drawers. What didn't hang--up stayed in suitcase.

No air con in bedrooms and can get stuffy - stairs are a challenge for elderly or unwell people, should tell people when booking that there is no lift and they should ask for a ground floor apartment. There were cockroaches in the bathroom.

Majestic Lion was always my go-to for work trips to Adelaide pre-pandemic, but i've since not stayed for ~5 years. Whilst lovely grounds and looks great from the outside, it is starting to feel a little dated in the room - same room I stayed in previously - and the cleanliness was questionable (toilet had dried urine from prior guest, odour from the bathroom drain). I'm back in ADL again before end of year but have changed my booking. It is still a great spot, and they provide some great rates, but i've opted to upgrade for the next stay.

It's always a pleasure staying at the Old Lion. The staff are friendly and helpfull and the rooms are always clean and comfortable. Further the pub next door offers fabulous meals from breakfast to dinner. Highly recommended!

Overall we enjoyed our stay, though the layout of our apartment wasn't ideal for the weather conditions - very hot overnight, air con was in the lounge facing opposite direction to the bedrooms, so it was hard to cool the bedrooms and had to sleep with bedroom doors open to have any air circulating, which limits privacy; the wardrobes? were also a bit awkward, limiting access around the bed. Also unable to access the free WiFi. If staying again, will remember to request a ground floor apartment.

Everything was fine, big apartment and clean. A few things that need to be addressed however: 1) WIFI is very unstable. The phones seem to connect, then disconnect for no reason. If you have an IPad of any king, good luck establishing a connection. If you do, it then disappears never to return. Need a more stable provider I think. 2) Bathroom is nice and convient, however the shower door attached to the bathtub swings freely, thus as soon as the water hits it it’s swings outward. The outcome is a flood on the floor. Luckily there is a drain (there for that reason I imagine). Not terribly annoying, but still leaves a mess. Otherwise, very friendly staff and good accommodations, especially if you have a family.

Great place to stay however the communication was poor, spoken with three seperate people on three different occasions for our two rooms to be next door or in the same building. The request was completely ignored with no apology. Pretty disappointed. Facilities and location was great though.

We arrived at the property and had to move rooms within the first hour as the room had a non-functioning AC and therefore no heating. This should have been determined by staff before check in and lead to unnecessary inconvenience. Room service was classified as a limited service, which meant towels were changed (on request) and a daily bin empty. Staff made us feel like they were doing us a favour just with that limited service. This could all have been explained at check in, but again was not addressed at all. After sorting through these teething problems, the only issue became the very noisy neighbors, however that was not through any fault of the property.

In a great location this slightly tired property offers a quirky layout that would confuse most guests. Unfortunately they don’t have a 24 hour reception so late arrivals need to check in at a sister property in Tyne St. To do this you’ll need a car as the distance between the check in location and the Lion aren’t walking distance especially at night. Stayed in a downstairs room. Lots of footstep noise from room above made for a disturbed sleep. Look elsewhere close by as there are better options.

Communication was poor. We ask 3 times on separate occasions to have 2 apartments together and was told that would be fine. It did not happen. When we spoke to them about this they were very dismissive toward us. It is a great place to stay but was disappointed with the communication.

I love these apartments and try to stay here whenever I am in Adelaide. Business or pleasure, it's easy to park, quiet, roomy, clean and easy access to the CBD and suburbs. Great cafes and restaurants nearby and the parks are great for a morning walk.
