Overall great hotel with friendly and welcoming staff. Would recommend. Some finer details need tweaking - managing expectations around out of service facilities (pool closed and arranged to visit a nearby hotel instead - but no warning and booked especially with our baby), concierge ignored my wife when asking for help and seemingly enjoyed moving boxes more, no walk ins at in-restaurant hotels but thankfully the butler managed to squeeze us in.

Stepping through the doors into the grand, is entering a new world. A world of tranquility. Where every single member of staff their to make your stay pleasurable. Always with a smile. And full of grace. The grand will take your breath away from beautiful rooms. To exquisite dining experiences. An amazing spa. Even just walking around the hotel itself is an adventure. Highly recommend. I will never stay any where else in Amsterdam.

We cannot say enough abou the Sofitel Grand! From the impeccible service to the beautiful spa facilites, it was amazing. I traveled with two of my young children and the staff was so attentive and kind to all of us. The small details, such as infused water and light snacks in the lobby every day, to the attention to detail when room service brough our orders, really made us feel pampered. The concierge was so helpful, she guided us through making plans for a day trip to Belgium, she suggested activities, gave us tips on using the Eurostar, and always asked if we enjoyed our excursions when we returned to the hotel each evening. The room was gorgeous--spacious, a great bath tub to soak in after a long day, a well equipped coffee and tea station and beautiful linens. An employee came around each evening with additional items such as water, tea, coffee, etc so that we had everything we needed each night. Room service was fast and the food was delicious. My kids enjoyed using the sauna, steam room, and indoor pool each afternoon. Was a great way to unwind after busy days of sight-seeing. The experience was very well curated and the attention to detail was apparent with every interaction throughout the hotel. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend!

We booked a 10 day stay on the same day we arrived because the original hotel we had stayed at was atrocious when we arrived. As soon as we entered the Sofitel it was like we had landed on a different planet. The friendliness and professionalism of the staff was second to none. They always remembered who we were and what rooms we were in and made us feel at home. Val the bartender at the Flying Dutchman had become part of our family! He is a absolutely the best and even checked in on us when he was on vacation! :) love love love ❤️

An excellent hotel, extremely well situated. Lovely rooms. Adjoining rooms were so useful. All staff friendly, efficient and welcoming. Any requests were actioned very quickly. All hotel spotlessly clean. Rooms thoroughly cleaned every day. Leisure facilities good, lovely pool. Small gym but rarely busy.

Staff were wonderful and the breakfasts were astounding. Our room a junior suite was perfect cleaned to a high standard every day. There was also a turn down service which added extra little touches. Also the reception staff were very friendly and helpful.

Fabulous hotel staff and the restaurants are great. The rooms looked great and had a beautiful canal view. When we first got to our room we found a used hair comb by the bed and the bathroom smelt foul. We ran the shower and the smell went away for a short period. It came back through the night and was very unpleasant. The staff said they’d look into it but I’m assuming nothing could be done. Other than the smelly bathroom it’s a splendid location.

The building is absolutely amazing. Generally, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Great, central location. The room was ok - we could tell that it was a little dated but still very nice. The bed and bedding were amazing and extremely comfortable. Attention to detail with some of the cleaning was lacking, especially in the shower. The shower head was obviously not cleaned regularly as it had orange build-up on the rubber spray nozzles. The sealant around the shower also need some attention. Apart from this, the room was very clean. We were disappointed with the concierge who had very kindly booked a restaurant for us..... only for us to arrive at said restaurant to find that they had only booked the bar and not the actual restaurant; the restaurant was fully booked and we had to resort to eating at the hotel restaurant. This is where it gets tricky...... my partner is gluten intolerant and when in contact with gluten a raised rash appears. The matradee had asked about any allergies when he was sitting us at the table and he seemed to make a note on his iPad. However, this allergy information didn't seem to be communicated to the restaurant team or indeed the kitchen. As such, when the food was served, we had to double-check that the food did not contain any gluten. Upon investigation, the food DID contain gluten. Disappointing for a 5 star restaurant. The restaurant staff seemed inexperienced - dropping culturally constantly and just very slow and weak service

Bridges restaurant has a very limited menu. Room was clean and modern with a nice turn down service. Coffee is free in the room but there is the usual mini bar. Bed very comfortable. Lighting a bit dim and quite a few TV channels missing. Online room service menu was inoperative but the old fashioned method was satisfactory. We thought the room was smaller than expected. Staff was very polite, helpful however I believe they need to hire more people especially for the restaurant. I have ordered the drinks and took three different waiter to bring it and took 30 mins. Cleaning definitely can be improved in yhe rooms. Hotel is in the heart of Amsterdam very close to everything. Mainly good however needs some touch ups to improve. Ps: i checked out yesterday and they have overcharged my CC, sent them an email to relase however no one replied yet. As ı said they need to higher more people to improve the service

Sehr zentral gelegen, absolut zuvorkommendes und sehr freundliches Personal. Ein ganz grosses Kompliment dem Team des Frühstücksbüffets! Das Zimmer was gut aber nicht genug geheizt, das Bad ist nicht mehr das neueste aber beides ist sehr angenehm und grosszügig eingerichtet. Wenn möglich die Zimmer auf den Kanal meiden, da leider bis 3h nachts sehr laut von draussen. Ein schöner Aufenthalt alles in allem.
Sehr zentral gelegen, absolut zuvorkommendes und sehr freundliches Personal. Ein ganz grosses Kompliment dem Team des Frühstücksbüffets! Das Zimmer was gut aber nicht genug geheizt, das Bad ist nicht mehr das neueste aber beides ist sehr angenehm und grosszügig eingerichtet. Wenn möglich die Zimmer auf den Kanal meiden, da leider bis 3h nachts sehr laut von draussen. Ein schöner Aufenthalt alles in allem.

At first I was given a room on the street and it was too noisy. I got moved the next day and that was much better. The hotel is nice and the rooms are clean and very comfortable. The location is great as it’s just on the canal and near the swuare

Stay was amazing. Responding to Hotels.com survey after check in I commented that my room was very noisy as it fronted a street along the canal. Within a short time the duty customer service manager ( Mickey) contacted me and offered me an excellent alternative room on a higher floor that also had double glazing so achieving huge noise reduction. This understanding response was typical of the superb customer service in this hotel. As an owner of multiple businesses myself I am almost incredulous at the level of customer focus at this property. Friendly courtesy and attentiveness that didn’t miss a beat from a single member of a huge staff is an achievement to behold. Both restaurants were excellent and some noisy rooms apart ( perhaps unavoidable in bustling central Amsterdam) the physical features of the property are fabulous. Thankyou Sofitel Amsterdam.

Nice hotel but the walls and windows were extremely thin. Could very clearly hear people in rooms next to you and on the streets. If you’re looking to party and sleep isn’t a priority this is a great spot.

We had an issue upon check in and the staff went above and beyond to rectify it immediately. Special thanks to Fillipo, whose actions and generosity define hospitality. He made our stay extra special. If only all hotels could have staff members like him. World class hotel, world class staff. Highly recommended. We cannot say enough abou the Sofitel Grand! From the impeccible service to the beautiful spa facilites, it was amazing. I traveled with two of my young children and the staff was so attentive and kind to all of us. The small details, such as infused water and light snacks in the lobby every day, to the attention to detail when room service brough our orders, really made us feel pampered. The concierge was so helpful, she guided us through making plans for a day trip to Belgium, she suggested activities, gave us tips on using the Eurostar, and always asked if we enjoyed our excursions when we returned to the hotel each evening. The room was gorgeous--spacious, a great bath tub to soak in after a long day, a well equipped coffee and tea station and beautiful linens. An employee came around each evening with additional items such as water, tea, coffee, etc so that we had everything we needed each night. Room service was fast and the food was delicious. My kids enjoyed using the sauna, steam room, and indoor pool each afternoon. Was a great way to unwind after busy days of sight-seeing. The experience was very well curated and the attention to detail was apparent with every interaction throughout the hotel. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend!

This is an excellent hotel, however, I have to rate this experience as poor. I had a week stay booked through expedia, there was confusion regarding the inclusion of breakfast. This was clarified promptly by Expedia but the reception team was very reluctant to act swiftly. I was charged and refunded, but the worst experience was on checking out they questioned me again about this by this gentleman trying to exert his power. I really feel sorry for him doing this job and bringing disgrace to the hotel.

The building is absolutely amazing. Generally, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Great, central location. The room was ok - we could tell that it was a little dated but still very nice. The bed and bedding were amazing and extremely comfortable. Attention to detail with some of the cleaning was lacking, especially in the shower. The shower head was obviously not cleaned regularly as it had orange build-up on the rubber spray nozzles. The sealant around the shower also need some attention. Apart from this, the room was very clean. We were disappointed with the concierge who had very kindly booked a restaurant for us..... only for us to arrive at said restaurant to find that they had only booked the bar and not the actual restaurant; the restaurant was fully booked and we had to resort to eating at the hotel restaurant. This is where it gets tricky...... my partner is gluten intolerant and when in contact with gluten a raised rash appears. The matradee had asked about any allergies when he was sitting us at the table and he seemed to make a note on his iPad. However, this allergy information didn't seem to be communicated to the restaurant team or indeed the kitchen. As such, when the food was served, we had to double-check that the food did not contain any gluten. Upon investigation, the food DID contain gluten. Disappointing for a 5 star restaurant. The restaurant staff seemed inexperienced - dropping culturally constantly and just very slow and weak service

My family and I had a wonderful stay. They were able to accommodate my request for connecting rooms, so my family of 5 was able to all be together. This was much appreciated. The location of the hotel is very central to everything, so we were able to walk everywhere.

The hotel and its staff are excellent. The facilities could not be faulted. A focus area for improvement would be around dining options. One of party has a vegetarian and gluten-free diet. The menu options between the restaurants and room service are not joined up. There were options on the room service menu that you could not get on the restaurant menu so the choice was really limiting. Also, not all staff were aware of the gluten free options available so we got different messages on different nights. A kids menu might also be worthwhile looking at. My daughter had spaghetti Bolognese but its not on a menu, we had to ask if there were any kids options available. Overall though, a great hotel, great staff, in a great location, in a great city. Would stay again for sure.

Arrived before 10am and was told room ready no later than 3pm. Given an “upgraded” room after 3pm that was two levels accessed by a steep, narrow staircase. Bed was on upper level. Coffee maker and fridge were on lower level. The arrangement was not pleasing. WiFi was not accessible for hours to start.

Hotel was great! We walked from the train station to the hotel as only had carry on luggage. it is an oasis in a busy area. Quiet and tranquil and when you walk outside, you are in city centre and able to walk everywhere. Rooms are super comfortable and air conditioned! Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommend
Hotel was great! We walked from the train station to the hotel as only had carry on luggage. it is an oasis in a busy area. Quiet and tranquil and when you walk outside, you are in city centre and able to walk everywhere. Rooms are super comfortable and air conditioned! Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommend
