Hotel Nes Amsterdam

We stayed in the annex where the stairs are VERY steep but it is now a fun part of our experience. The view made it worth it and the frint desk clerks were phenomenal! We used the valet service and have a gew questions about the way our vehicle was returned to us but wouldn't blame the hotel for that. 10/10

What a great location. Very walkable to most areas. Had a hard time trying to pick a restaurant, so many to choose. Canal cruises are a must. Hotel staff were very helpful, and always with a smile. The only negative thing is that there is no air conditioning. It was challenging to keep cool with a small fan on very warm days. The duvet had to go. I realize it is an old building (that is the charm) but maybe they could consider wall mount AC units. Overall we were happy with our choice.

No elevator, disaster when traveling heavy as I did. Old Hotel with extremely narrow steps, rather dangerous if you ask me. Great Location, though.

I liked the fact it was old and unique. Thank goodness they had an elevator. Great staff. Very helpful. Fortunately I like walking because I walked to and from the train station 3 times.

The room we picked was not accessible by elevator, and the stairs are crazy, but the staff was very kind and he brought our luggage up for us. Getting down the stairs wasn't too bad on our own. The room was clean with a nice view of the canal, and quiet once we closed the window. 20min walk to train station over cobblestone and brick, but easy to find.

Zentral und ruhig gelegen, freundliches Personal. Das 4-Bett-Familienzimmer war genügend gross, das Bad war jedoch ziemlich schmal und klein. Aber alles sauber und modern. Das WLAN ist nicht optimal, ausser im Empfangsbereich. Im Zimmer war es drückend heiss, da keine Klimaanlage, jedoch zwei Ventilatoren.

Førjulstur til Amsterdam. Hotellet lå veldig sentralt. Minus at det var ekstremt kaldt på badet, men kalde fliser. Rommet hadde ikke minibar/kjøleskap, men det kalde baderomsgulvet fungerte fint til å kjøle ned drikke i mangel på kjøleskap. Veldig hyggelige folk som arbeidet på hotellet. Frokosten va veldig plein og enkel, så ikke forvent den største hotellfrokosten. Alt i alt var vi veldig fornøyd med oppholdet!

Great location! Easy to walk to everything. Stairs were extremely steep up to our room and our building did not have elevator access, so not for anyone with knee problems. Outside was a little noisy at night but overall a good stay and would recommend. Also the hotel was great about transportation set up to the airport. We walked to the hotel from the train station which was about 20 minutes.

Unique room with a view of the canals. Some cleanliness issues. Spiral staircase would have been a problem if we weren't traveling with backpacks. Almost like climbing a ladder steep, with tiny treads of varying sizes. Requires some agility. Not a problem for us, but others might find it difficult to manage. Loud at night as it is near the red light district.

The hotel is very conveniently located, on one of the canals, within easy walking distance of the museums and train station, as well as surrounded by the bars and restaurants of town centre. Staff is fantastic - very helpful with advice and assistance. Room was decent sized and clean, but without air conditioning, which means the windows must be open for ventilation, and the area can get quite noisy, particularly at night. Breakfast was above average for this price point - nice buffet selection, and a pleasant dining area. In sum, a bargain for this location, if you're looking to be in town centre.

Great view if you book a room with a view. Room is not as clean as it could be with the carpeting looking a bit old. Overall, great hotel and experience with the staff.

Das Hotel ist in bester Lage. Von hier erreicht man schnell und einfach jede wichtige Sehenswürdigkeit. Wir hatten ein zwei Bett Zimmer. Leider sah diesem ein bisschen anders aus wie auf den Fotos, es gab nur ein sehr kleines Fenster welches sehr weit oben war wodurch man als kleine Person Probleme bekommen kann diese auf und zu zu machen.Wir waren 3 nächte da und bei 2 von 3 nächten haben wir dreckige Bettwäsche bekommen. Am ersten Tag waren es zwei rote Flecken und einer gelber Flecken zu sehen. Von der netten Mitarbeiterin haben wir dann frische Bettwäsche bekommen und einmal ein kostenloses Frühstück. Sie hatte auch geschaut ob sie uns ein anderes Zimmer geben kann, leider war da aber keins frei. Am zweiten Tag hatten wir wieder Flecken auf der Bettwäsche. Diese mal gab es aber nur frische Bettwäsche. Sehr schade das von 3 mal wir 2 mal dreckige Bettwäsche bekommen haben. Eine Sache die uns aber klar war, ist das es Abend auf Grund der Lage Recht laut ist. Damit muss man aber rechnen wenn man so zentral übernachtet.

Overall, would highly recommend this hotel. It was in a great location with easy access to tourist attractions. Able to get to hotel easily using the tram and a short walk from Amsterdam Centraal station. Room was bigger than expected - we had a triple room. Stairs were very steep and narrow, however we were easily able to bring our ~45 pound suitcases up the stairs. The room was clean and had a beautiful view of the canal. The staff was very kind and helpful!

Historic building facing the canal, great location at city center. Very small room but comfortable and great canal view. Had internet issues on first day but was moved to another room the next day. Would recommend.

A great little hotel in a wonderful walkable area! Staff were super friendly. Water pressure in the shower was very low though. Rooms are a little tiny but you get what you pay for

The room is so small, there is just enough space for the bed and no space to walk around. The bathroom is updated but no ventilation or a/c in the room.

It's good value for money. Our double room (303), was a comfortable size for two people, with enough space for bags and a small wardrobe. As expected for an older building in this area, the rooms are compact and the staircases narrow, but the presence of a lift was a definite bonus. The modern bathroom was a highlight, though it did lack a shower guard, meaning the floor got quite wet after each use. The room had a tv which had 16 satellite channels, including BBC 1, 2 and CBBC, the dutch channels also play English movies with Dutch subtitles. It's not a smart TV, so no Netflix built-in, but the Wi-Fi was good and strong, so if you're like me, definitely bring a Chromecast to stream your own content. The bed was very comfortable, though I did wish the blanket had been a bit thinner for warmer nights. Speaking of warmth, our first day hit 28 degrees Celsius, and the room became quite hot and clammy. Luckily, that was the only super hot day, and it rained that evening, so the fan they provided and opening the windows did the trick. However, I wouldn't recommend it for a prolonged heatwave. The area is quite busy, so with windows open, noise can be an issue. The main issues I had that prevented a perfect score: the carpet, curtains, and scuffed walls made the room feel a bit more dated; the potential for the room to get hot; and the wet bathroom floor after showering. But overall, for a budget-friendly hotel in such a prime location, it genuinely exceeded my expectations

Good location, friendly staff, clean. Room was very small. Once my suitcase was on the folding table, I had to squeeze around to the far side of the bed. Only able to open the room door barely enough to get out. We are small people. Would not recommend for anyone large! Sorry.

Rick is the best thing about this hotel. He is so helpful and personable. Location is central to everything. Room is small, small. Bathroom is ridiculous. Taking a shower is a joke. Entire bathroom gets wet when you shower.

The staff here were the most helpful, friendliest and knowledgeable staff I have ever come across at any hotel ever. When you asked for options, they either already knew the options or were very proactive in getting the information for you. Room is SUPER small but budget friendly. Location was right in front of a beautiful canal and walkable to city center. As a solo traveler, I felt safe and comfortable. Breakfast options were pretty good too.

Centrally located, great place to stay in Amsterdam. Very accessible via Tram 4 or 14, from the train station. Our room was clean, comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast. Staff were helpful and friendly.

What a fabulous hotel, the staff are next none. They gave us some fantastic recommendations for food, nothing was too much trouble for them. Would recommend and certainly will be back. Thanks guys

Rick working the front desk gave our group such great recommendations during our stay. Our hotel had an amazing view of the canal as well.

Hotel NES and their staff were top notch! We were warmly welcomed and ushered inside out of the cold, which was especially nice after a 9 hour flight. We arrived early and only expected to be able to drop our luggage, but the staff went above and beyond and made our room available early. We reserved the family suite which was perfect for our family of 4. The breakfast was simple and delicious. We loved everything about our stay here, and will definitely be back!!

Front desk staff SUPER friendly!!! We had the most amazing time. Super convenient area, walkable to so many parts of Amsterdam, the rooms super comfy, clean, comfortable bed and pillows. Canal view was a huge plus. Definitely recommend. Close to Tulip Market and cheese tasting and souvenir, thrift, specialty shops.

Overnight stay in Amsterdam due to a layover and it was right on one of the main canals. Easy walking to all the main attractions.

Hotel Nes was a great hotel in a great location with public transportation nearby if walking is not for you. The hotel is approximately 20 minutes walk from the Grand Centraal station. The hotel was clean with great staff. Thank you Rick for all your help. I will definitely stay there again on my next trip to Amsterdam.

Excellent location for walking to just about anywhere worth seeing in Amsterdam. I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful the front Desk staff was on all shifts. The breakfast was also fresh and good.

It was a lovely hotel, clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was good. The location is very central so the tourist attractions are within walking distance. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Centrally located. Great breakfast. Friendly services. Nice room but the washroom and shower are a bit small. My wife and I enjoyed our 3-night stay!

Breakfast was good, it had a decent amount of range for a little hotel, so no complaints. We paid for what we got! Obviously nothing too amazing but worth the price you pay. Room was a bit run down but the beds felt like i was laying on a cloud so no complaints! The bathroom surprisingly was very modern and very spacious, water pressure wasn't the best but it did the job.

Mature couple staying for 4 nights - comfortable beds and clean room and bathroom - located in quiet area (so no noisy bars) but close enough for easy access to places of interest and food outlets - very friendly staff - good continental breakfast buffet. Overall a very enjoyable stay. Only comment (for improvement) - requires new carpet on the stairs in reception
