This place was stunning. Really wish we could have had more time here. The trails were beautiful. The rooms were stunning. Staff was awesome and the spa was really a unique and peaceful place. It is a walk though from place to place but the staff is happy to help with their golf carts and very accommodating. We were fine to walk but just noting for people with mobility issues. If you’re fine to use there services i still think this is a gem worth staying at.

The most amazing property! It has the most stunning view of the volcano from your room. The food and drinks are the best! Pool bar margarita best in La fortuna hands down. Happy hour pool bar drinks and prices were amazing especially the cacique sour! The bartender was always present and he remembered how I liked my drinks the next day. Great bartender! Breakfast was complimentary and delicious. We had dinner and the tenderloin with grilled onions and I added a side of the yuca mash.... the yuca mash are the most delicious mash ever!!! The tenderloin was fire. Probably one of the best meals ever. The property is gorgeous. You want jungle resort this is it! 2 pools one heated and a trail with a hanging bridge. Frog sanctuary. The front desk got us a cab one night to go into town and they were all so super friendly. Bring lots of American cash when going into town and to different sites just alittle fyi for you. Book this resort! It was the best experience ever! I cant wait to come back!

Gorgeous view of Arenal from our room patio. Great food in the hotel restaurant - breakfast was the best and dinner was quite good. All the facilities were top notch, including the two pools (heated and unheated) and swim up bar. On site hiking trail was beautiful and challenging.

Our room was very spacious with a beautiful balcony overlooking the rainforest. The pool was lovely (open 24 hours!) with a swim up bar. We also enjoyed the restaurant both nights. A lovely property away from the busy area in Arenal, but not too far, very easy to access all the sites, and is literally right next to Mistico Hanging Bridges park.

The property and staff were absolutely amazing! The views are stunning. Dinner was so good and the upper heated pool is more like a hot tub. The spa services were equally amazing! I can’t wait to come back!

What a gorgeous property! There is a warm pool and regular pool with a swim up bar. Everything is surrounded by lush, beautiful rain forest. We saw so many different critters. Food was good and easily available if we didn't feel like driving back into La Fortuna. Would definitely stay there again.

The Lost Iguana Resort & Spa was amazing! The resort property is a beautiful rain forest. They have a hiking trail through the property with a hanging bridge. There are flowering plants all over the property. We had a perfect view of Arenal Volcano from our balcony. It was a truly wonderful experience to stay here. The onsite restaurant was very good. We will return to this resort again!

This place is heaven! We had beautiful views of Arenal from our balcony and saw so many animals around the property. Everything is stunning. The heated pool is a big plus, as well as the nature trail which we took every day. The hotel is very close to Mistico hanging bridges. Although a bit far from La Fortuna, it’s absolutely worth staying in this peaceful escape.

We stayed here recently with a group of 5 and really enjoyed our stay. The resort itself is very beautiful. The rooms were lovely and spacious, with a fantastic view. The A/C in the rooms were great. The resort had a couple areas to explore, like a frog sanctuary, hummingbird gallery, and a hiking trail. Just be careful as the hummingbird gallery is the the end of the hiking trail, so we ended up going through the hiking trail while we were exploring the hummingbird gallery area. We had the free breakfast and dinner at the resort and found the food to be delicious. Travelling around the resort there are steep hills but you can request transportation if needed. Our journey towards the resort is very uphill and windy, so those who get car sick may be affected. The resort itself is quite close to Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Park. You can walk from the resort. Keep in mind that the walk will be quite uphill but doable. One thing to note- on our last day of our stay we had an issue with flying ants which are common in Costa Rica. There were A LOT of them in all 3 of our rooms. The staff explained that this is common in Costa Rica and that they are completely harmless but are more of an annoyance. They helped us kill a lot of the flying ants. We found turning off the lights and blocking off the windows and doors with towels helped.

It’s serene ambience. The food in the on-site restaurant is really good. Breakfast is great. The view is amazing. Nice personnel. The property is far from everything else so make sure you have a rental car if you chose this property. The puma trail is fun. Rooms have dehumidifiers which is nice. The doors from the balcony have large spaces between the door and the floor so expect bugs in the room.

Spacious and beautiful room with a cool design, set in an astonishing park. Excellent service, the only reason I didn’t give it a 5/5 is the water was not hot enough if you like to take a hotter shower.

This property was a dream. We loved the beautiful view, the rooms were clean, large outdoor patios with 2 chairs, the staff was polite and accommodating. It’s about a 25 minute drive to downtown Fortuna so close enough to visit during the day, but far enough that you aren’t in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Everything was just wonderful

The only concern I had during my stay was that there were some issues with the flow of water from the bathroom sink. Sometimes the flow would be very minimal. The shower drain often clogged, so you would be standing ankle-deep in the shower water. Otherwise, the restaurant was great and the view of the volcano from our room was beautiful! The room was clean and staff were friendly.

We enjoyed our stay, It was our first time in Costa Rica. There were a few problems. The hiking trail was not open. Lighting in the rooms was poor. We did not always have hot water. There was not enough seating in the rooms for 3-4 people. What made this property stand out was the staff. They are excellent.

The property and pathways to the pool and restaurant were well lit and maintained with tropical flora. The room was spacious and well appointed. I loved the open air lava rock double shower. We had a breathtaking view of the Arenal Volcano from our room and balcony. However, the private trail was more difficult and not as well kept as expected.

The resort has beautiful grounds. Room was average well at least ours. We had a standard room which was very dark. Room could use more lighting than the 1 tiny light lamp and dim ceiling fan light. Also could be better to help block the gaps under the doors to prevent the number of bugs that get into the room. The staff was nice and the breakfast buffet was good. Nice walking trails. You need a car as this place is not walkable.

Stunning view of the volcano. So much so, we enjoyed time on the very large deck to have evening drinks, play games and do yoga. We appreciated the warm pool with swim up bar so we could soak after so many activities in La Fortuna. The breakfast was good. Prices are very reasonable for the restaurant. The property is a little spread out so there is a bit of walking to and from your room. They have a golf cart option if mobility is an issue. The walls are pretty thin so we were woken in the am by the family with very young children next to us. Nothing the hotel can do about that but I'd bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. My only complaint was the lighting in the room is quite poor. Either all on (bright ceiling fan lights) or ineffective nightstand light. A corner lamp or something for a little more suitable evening light would be a nice touch.

Beautiful resort in the jungle. Loved the two pools, one was warm and the other cool. The warm one was near behind the bar and had seats underwater to relax and have some drinks. Our room or should i say casita was beyond beautiful! We had the view of the volcano. The shower was amazing, half outdoor half indoor. So unique and beautiful. Would looove to come back here for sure.

An absolute gem of a hotel located literally in the jungle. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed and great walk-in shower. The patio overlooked the jungle with a perfect view of the Arenal Volcano. Our breakfast and dinner meals in the restaurant were superb. The steak was perfectly cooked and delicious and the $38 bottle of Chilean Cabernet was surprisingly good. The grounds of the hotel make you feel like you are living in the jungle and we were greeted one morning by a friendly coatimundis which was a real treat. We are looking forward to our next visit to this wonderful jungle retreat.

I have to admit we were a bit bummed out we stayed three nights here. The rooms were small and outdated. The view of the volcano was nice and the restaurant had relatively cheap and decent menu items. The property is very secluded so you would need a car here and since it is far out of town you are stuck eating dinner there if you don’t want to brave night on crazy roads. You must climb to your room up a hill. There is a sad workout room with an old bike and treadmill. The area is pretty and there is a nice jungle hike trail but when we moved to another hotel in La Fortuna, we were more disappointed with Iguana since it was also pretty expensive.

This was an amazing resort with the best staff ever! Food was great, room view amazing, good hike on the property. The rain at night made for some great sleep and well as the birds and critters singing all night! I would recommend 10/10 to anyone!

I would give this the Lost Iguana 6 stars. From the moment we got there (yes it’s a 3 hour drive from Liberia) but it’s gorgeous. The rooms, the staff, the garden oasis, views of the jungle, restaurant and pool are all amazing. Calling out Jordan, Damian, and the bartenders for being so great. We stayed three nights. Nearby attractions include Mystic Bridges and within 30 minutes drive was La Fortuna and many hot springs. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Mari Paz had excellent service and was always so sweet and nice. She was always very helpful with everything we had questions too. Overall all the staff here treat you great and are very friendly! Definitely a place to come to and enjoy if you like the wilderness. I am not a person who likes outdoors but this place turned out to be amazing!!

We reserved for the view which was everything we thought it would be and more. We found that above all, the staff was the best! We felt at home. We have someone who cant walk far or manged the holls and they carted us to and from the other areas of the hotel! They arranged activites and gave us the Pura Vita vibe!

The property is beautiful and a unique setting. The food was good and service prompt at the restaurant. We have two complaints. One was that the hotel really pushed guests to book tours and I did not realize until after we checked out that we had been charged $20 for transportation to the suspension bridges which was five minutes away and the hotel knew we had a car. That charge was unseemly and speaks to a mercenary practice which belies the marketed image. The other issue was service. We had driven for hours through the rain to reach the hotel. No one helped us with bags or showed us to the room. The staff knew that electricity had gone out, but no one told us. It took three attempts walking up and down a steep hill to get into our room. The Lost Iguana was our first hotel in Costa Rica. The service we received in the second and third was much better.

Our stay here was amazing. Originally we were planning on staying for one night but decided to add another night after seeing how friendly the staff was and how beautiful this location was. The staff was extremely helpful, they answered all our questions, very accommodating booking several tours which made our visit to Cost Rica one to remember. The entire staff here is excellent but Jimmy went above and beyond.he gave us great service, provided us with great recommendations on some activities to try, along with making the best drinks. There is no don’t that we’ll be returning to this resort in the near future .

We really loved our stay at the lost iguana hotel. It’s a little bit further from the town about 35 minutes so keep that in mind if you want to be closer to downtown. It was a smaller resort overall but the grounds were stunning!

Our room was very spacious with a beautiful balcony overlooking the rainforest. The pool was lovely (open 24 hours!) with a swim up bar. We also enjoyed the restaurant both nights. A lovely property away from the busy area in Arenal, but not too far, very easy to access all the sites, and is literally right next to Mistico Hanging Bridges park.

This place is heaven! We had beautiful views of Arenal from our balcony and saw so many animals around the property. Everything is stunning. The heated pool is a big plus, as well as the nature trail which we took every day. The hotel is very close to Mistico hanging bridges. Although a bit far from La Fortuna, it’s absolutely worth staying in this peaceful escape.

The most amazing property! It has the most stunning view of the volcano from your room. The food and drinks are the best! Pool bar margarita best in La fortuna hands down. Happy hour pool bar drinks and prices were amazing especially the cacique sour! The bartender was always present and he remembered how I liked my drinks the next day. Great bartender! Breakfast was complimentary and delicious. We had dinner and the tenderloin with grilled onions and I added a side of the yuca mash.... the yuca mash are the most delicious mash ever!!! The tenderloin was fire. Probably one of the best meals ever. The property is gorgeous. You want jungle resort this is it! 2 pools one heated and a trail with a hanging bridge. Frog sanctuary. The front desk got us a cab one night to go into town and they were all so super friendly. Bring lots of American cash when going into town and to different sites just alittle fyi for you. Book this resort! It was the best experience ever! I cant wait to come back!

As beautiful as this property appears to be and is beautiful in person! The food was not up par, at all; and thats including the drinks. Unfortunately we did not enjoy the breakfast nor the restaurant services for dinner. We had to go out of our way and search for a restaurant for our next few nights. The room cleanliness was amazing, I hate to not say the same for the food quality. If they were to level it up, it would be an espectacular resort!!

Pros: The resort was spectacular- beautiful location and the grounds were serene and lush. The room was spacious and comfortable. We had a great stay at this hotel. The pool bar happy hour was amazing. I enjoyed the warm pool and I dined at the pool bar restaurant the first night. Cons: renting a car is a must (location is 30 min from town) and the drive to the resort is very dark (no lights to help guide). The restaurant was limited in selections. I didn't get to do the puma trek- we always returned too late to reserve it. The room should have more mirrors (only one in bathroom) and a few extra lights (very dim). I wish there was a microwave as food options were so limited. I did use the mini fridge for juice and milk and pastries bought outside. We had a leak from the ceiling on a very stormy night. Overall, it's a beautiful and peaceful hotel resort. So glad my family got to stay here the past week.

We loved Lost Iguana! This is our second trip to Costa Rica and our first to the Arenal Volcano area. The hotel grounds were lovely and very close to the Hanging Bridges. We booked a full day tour (bridges, volcano, waterfall) and spent the other two days hanging out at the pool/pool bar. We ate at the hotel restaurant for most of our meals and thought it was good and the price was reasonable. The breakfast buffet was also great. The hotel trail was also great (takes about 45 minutes). Be prepared to walk a lot of hilly terrain!

Nice view to the Arenal volcano from the patio and beautiful jungle full of flowers and hummingbirds in front of you! We stayed on the first floor so you have to keep the door closed at all times specially at night when the frogs comes out! The food at the restaurant was terrible, fortunately we had a car and drove to La Fortuna for dinner which is about 25-30 minutes away. The road is hard to drive so it was inconvenient after a day full of activities.

A truly beautiful resort. The service, food, amenities were all top notch. I had a perfect view of Volcano Arenal from my room and woke up to that beautiful view each morning. The resort is about 30 mins away from LA Fortuna so keep that in mind when booking. The breakfast, restaurant, and bar were all great as well. Highly recommended for families and friends trip.

The resort is about 30 mins away from LA Fortuna so keep that in mind when booking. The breakfast, restaurant, and bar were all great as well. Highly recommended for families and friends trip.

We had a Great time at the Lost Iguana. The rooms are simple but clean. The large balcony had an incredible view but could use better furniture for extended sitting and sightseeing birds. The included buffet breakfast was delicious! We had lots of fun watching the World Cup at the sports bar (food was good and happy hour drinks during the World Cup was appreciated)! The pool is too cold and the hot tub is too hot. Would be nice if they could adjust the heat on both. Overall a great stay - I would recommend:)
