Bournemouth West Cliff Hotel & Spa

The prices are very reasonable, the breakfast buffet is great. The evening food options for us weren’t brilliant, I would suggest using one of the many local eateries for evening meals. The SPA is Devine, really spacious and the two treatments I had were reasonably priced and absolutely fantastic, The main swimming pool is also good, it’s open long hours and generally isn’t too busy (although we stayed here out of peak holiday times) they have happy hour at the bar so you can have some drinks on a budget if you want to. the bartenders were really nice as well.

Lovely pool and a well-equipped gym. Staff and evening meal were superb! Some areas need a little TLC, but that's the same with most hotels in this price range.

Our family room was a little dated but clean and tidy. Would have been nice to have a small fridge in the room especially during the recent hot weather but otherwise ok. Breakfast was self service which is fine however a fried egg would have been nice instead of scrambled each day. The pool area was very warm and again needs a bit of an update but on the whole our stay was satisfactory.

Good location with clean facilities, needed a bar in the room. Good indoor swimming pool, very warm. Nice spa facilities but steam room needs more steam.

Reception staff are nice and helpful, restaurant food and wine are great, swimming pool open 8am-8pm, but sometimes there have swim lessons. The toilet flushing was very bad, every used toilet needs to flush many times. Air conditioning is good that’s why i chose this Hotel Parking on the road outside of the hotel is free if there have spaces, otherwise hotel parking £10 for overnight

Our room was not ready, inspite of we checked in late by 4 hours toilet was not clean i did inform them we will come late, there was pooh marks in the toilet bowl and particles, bath tub was not clean, they agreed to change the room, next room toilet flush not working , then 3rd room smaller room was tv channel were not tuned we were so tired it was 2200 hrs. we got the room, It was my Mrs. 42nd birthday i kept calm.. My wife so upset she said please clean the first room we use the same room, we had extended a day directly we did not want spoil our mood we kept calm, I m sure If it was any other family any other family would have ask for refund. The who present were very helpful duty manager at that time cleaned the toilet herself.. who ever did the cleaning did a bad job, toilet is sealed after cleaning. the property good cleaning they should pay attention. The rest days were okay, they gave two complimentary drinks maybe because incident . I m still surprised, if it was not my wife birthday we would have taken full refund moved out same night plus asked compensation. The staff at that moment managed the situation.

Had an excellent 4 night stay at the West Cliff. The room was clean and spacious, with a very comfy bed. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great - plenty of choice. The Spa are downstairs was also very good. Would definitely stay here again.

Great stay overall, however toilet was dirty, we asked them to clean it but they didn't.

We were very happy and enjoyed our stay, we were made to feel very comfortable by the professional and friendly staff. Our rooms were spotless and so was all of the hotel. The food was excellent quality and very tasty. I'd definitely recommend The West Cliff.

Hmm... No parking, all spaces were taken and they were going to charge us £10 a day even when I had already paid £360 for two night stay. Room was tired, no extractor in bathroom, no lock on bathroom door, mould around silicone and shower was awful. Bedroom had no aircon, just a portable fan which I wasnt overly impressed with. Swimming pool was also tired and in dire need of a refurb. Breakfast was great and the gentleman taking us to our seats was awesome. The bar at night was insanely expensive. £8.50+ per pint. Not going to stay here again unfortunately.

This hotel needs a refresh but it also needs a good clean . The bathroom was dirty and black molud in the shower. The spa was very dirty.

Dated property, in need of renovation, rooms not cleaned to my 4/5* standard, bad smell, marks on carpet, dusty surfaces, doors don’t close properly, tiny mirror in the bathroom. Too expensive for what it is. Only plus side was access to the pool.

Impressed. Room seemed newly updated and was clean and comfortable. Swimming pool was warm and the kids enjoyed it. Breakfast was good though the bacon could have been better cooked, it was a little underdone. Short walk to the beach. Note I parked on the street and now have a car covered in bird droppings so avoid the trees! Will definitely look to book again when we can.

It was amazing and a walking distance to the sandy beach which was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast was lovely and varied. The room was a good size and lovely however my husband and I got two single beds in our room which was unexpected. The shower space was small with a bar on the side which my husband bumped into. It was our first trip to Bournemouth and we enjoyed it. Thank fully, it was not during the heatwave otherwise the fans would not have been adequate. There is need to install AC in the rooms. It was not clear on the hotel website that we had to pay to use the spa. The hotel said Westcliff hotel and spa. The spa experience was pleasant but it needs to be stated clearly that there is an additional cost for the spa. Staff at the hotel and spa were lovely. We were there for two nights but I was allowed to use the spa day ticket for two days. The room was clean and eco friendly. We forgot to redeem the £5 voucher on food and drinks when don’t have your room cleaned for short stays. Best hotel chips that my husband has had in a while. 😃

Noisy room as the flat roof outside our room housed air pumps which continually made a noise all night long. Facilities were excellent and the staff extremely friendly and helpful

We very much enjoyed the upstairs pool, i believe there is a fee for the pool & jacuzzi on lower ground. Restaurant was lovely, polite and helpful staff. Our AC wasnt working properly, even when the gentleman came and fixed it, it wasnt really cool, but not an issue as was quite cool for june. If i were to share some constructive criticism, it would be a lovely touch to have a mini fridge in the deluxe & superior rooms! Finally, we were ever so grateful for the free noon checkout on the Sunday, that was very kind indeed, all in all a wonderful weekend break & I'm positive we will return soon!

I was gutted we had been put in a room on the 4th floor as the lift only went to floor 3 and there were steep stairs, with only partial hand rail, to navigate. My husband is 75 and awaiting an operation. If you want to book this hotel check this first! This spoilt our entire weekend. The room was meant to be deluxe but the creaking of the floor was really bad and you could not move on the bed without the springs make a noise. Extremely disappointed.

Rooms are very dated, limited amount of sockets. Either too hot or too cold. Rest of the hotel is fine. But the staff is wonderful. Pool was great, my daughter loved it. Didn't have time to use the spa. Parking fairly priced and location close to the beach.

Lovely hotel. Would hoghly recommend. We stayed in the deluxe suite, it was extremely comfortable, very clean and had ecwrything we needed for our 2 nights stay. Coffee and tea, bottled water, iron and air conditioning. Plenty of towels for the 3 of us and complementary slippers and robes. The staff were cery polite and friendly and the food was exceptional

Paid over £300 for 2 nights in the hotel. Surprised that parking was extra but carried on regardless. Hotel advertises having air conditioning. However on arrival (over the 2 hottest days of the year to date) advised the room allocated did not have A/C and no others available. Arrived at room to find 3 d fans, 2 of which were broken. The room was in poor condition, poor decor and felt like something from the 80’s. Nothing ‘superior’ about this room. Childs bed placed next to radiator - which we found on the first evening had been left on!!! 30deg, no a/c and radiator on. Pool is much smaller than the picture shows but was ok. Breakfast was decent. Location is good. Just not a great experience and not value for money

Nice hotel, but only half rooms have been refurbished. Cleaning could be a bit better as found a few hairs and crumbs around the room. Bathrooms in refurbed rooms are nice!

Clean, newly painted, good facilities. Small room, no fridge, no safe.

Sadly there was a 21st birthday party going on in the function room directly below our family room. The music didn’t stop until midnight and then there was lots of shouting until 1am. The music was very loud and everyone was unable to sleep. My 9 year old had a early start dance competition the next day and was very tired because of this.

Staff was nice and helpful. I was very welcome and i was a bit early, as soon as my room was ready a nice women at the reception was calling to inform me that my room was ready. We had dinner at the hotel and staff and manager was very kind. Food was delicious compliment to the chef. We had a lovely weekend.

The hotel was easy to find and parking was easy enough. I found plenty of free parking spaces right outside the hotel so did not pay for the car park which is around £12 a day. I imagine during peak times parking will be hard. The hotel check in was easy and no cues. The front of house staff were welcoming and helpful. The hotel was very clean. The room has lots of space. Could not hear any traffic outside but could hear some noises from near by rooms or corridors. The pool was great and clean. Bar and restaurant reasonably priced. The only thing that really annoyed me was when you come back to the hotel you have to press a night bell for entry. One of the nights it took me nearly 1 hour to get in at 2am when I wasn't already feel great. I pressed the buzzer no joke 25 plus times. Banged on the windows countless times. Even phones the hotel 5 times with no answer and walked around the whole hotel looking for an open door. This was extremely upsetting. The night staff should be at or near the door entrance if they are going to lock it. The night staff said they were working in a suite getting ready for an event and the buzzer wasn't going through to his phone so that why it took so long. It was a cold day and if I had kids with me I would of gone mad. This is the reason I wouldn't stay here again. They need to add a door code or change the way to get into your hotel you have paid for and not have to worry what time. However being 4 I'll still give it 4 stars overall

Booked two rooms £168 a night, one room for two nights one room for 1 night so over £500 , Firstly Receptionist trying to tell me card had been declined online and I had to pay again! so had to prove that I had paid..not a good start! She also needs to smile a bit, as rude ..first impressions and all that! They also don’t tell you at time of booking that £10 a night for parking so we parked on the road but a bit worried for our car as there was evidence of two car windows smashed! The room was like staff accommodation from the 80’s absolute disgrace, there’s obviously a problem with the roof as damp patches everywhere and trying to cover up rotten wood with bad filling. There must have been a tall person who put the mirror up in the bathroom as I could only see the top of my head in it, I am 5’3, paintwork very tired and need some bleach in that bath!! we only stayed one night, didn’t even check into the other room then booked into a Premier Inn in Cardiff, even had to get out of Bournemouth as the west cliff stressed me out.. this hotel could take some lessons from the premier inn!

Staff started off by telling me they didnt take my payment which turned out to be inaccurate. I got locked out of my room as the key stopped working and i went up and down 3 times. I went to use the spa and was told to go check with reception when i asked the staff member to check for me they said too busy. Overall majority of staff were rude and i would not stay here again.

I book this hotel purely down to the pool. Arrived with my 12 year old son to find the pool closed at 7:30pm. Woke up the next morning to find we couldn’t use it again due to a Swimming class!! My son was so disappointed. Staff weren’t great. The Deputy manager was “sorry” but that was it. Had to ask him to compensate by giving us a free breakfast which he did, but it wasn’t offered. On top of that, because we were checking in late, we tried calling for over an hour and 30 minutes. Not one person answered!! Not great.

We stayed in a family room which was spacious and was suitable for our needs. Decor and furnishings looked a bit tired but seemed clean. The major problem was in the early hours of the morning when we were all awoke by the fire alarm. I understand this happens but the fact we didn’t see any member of staff after 30 minutes of waiting outside with other guests was pretty poor. Eventually the alarm stopped and another guest told us they had heard that one of the hotel staff had disconnected the alarm as it was the only way to stop the sound. We apprehensively went back to our room to try and sleep before our early departure. It was pretty unnerving knowing that if there was a fire the alarm was disabled. In the morning no member of staff apologised or explained what had happened. Really disappointed we had wasted our our saved hotel rewards on such an awful nights sleep. Basic communication and an apology would have gone a long way to resolving this.

Could not fault the hotel or staff. Had a family emergency and hotel did everything they could to help a special thank you to the night manager/staff member Peter who was fantastic.

The facilities and common areas make up for the drab but functional room we had (family room, double bed and 2 roll out beds). The lovely warm indoor pool and gym were the highlight of the stay with the restaurant/ bar a close second. Staff were helpful and friendly, but not in a 'we're a premium hotel' kind of way. Whilst nothing was exceptional, the pool and the 10mins walk to the beach or town centre made it a good choice and I'd have no problem choosing it again.

This is my 5th time staying at the hotel. I keep coming back because my daughter likes the indoor heated pool. The breakfast is always good... the dinner menu needs an upgrade but the food is tasty. The hotel is a short distant away from the beach, which is great. There are loads of other food options available, just check the map. We had a superior room. The bed was comfy and the room was clean however they were a little stingy with the tea and coffe as we only had 1 breakfast tea and 1 decaffeinated coffee. The staff was quite helpful but there was a new girl who was very very slow.. she may need additional training as she told us our room was on the 4th floor and it was nowhere close to the 4th floor. Overall the stay was nice and we will be back because it is our go-to place :)

A great hotel in the centre of town, bed was really comfortable and the shower pressure was perfect.

Reasonable price for a fairly central location. The hotel is on a hill near a cliff, so be prepared to walk down/up a steep hill, or tackle the cliff steps or zig zag sloping path to the beach. If you can't manage stairs ask for a room with elevator access, our room was in a part of the hotel with no elevator.

Bournemouth West Cliff Hotel is in a very good and quiet location, within an easy walk to the beach and not too far from the town centre. The amenities at the hotel are fair and we always enjoy our stay there. We usually look to book here first when we visit Bournemouth. Overall I would recommend this hotel

Very well located for both beach and town, while being in a quiet position. Check in was easy, as was purchasing the 24hour parking, which we extended for a few £more. Staying in the hottest September on record we were still comfortable sitting in the lounge / public areas including shaded garden. Our standard room had 2 free standing fans available, which were needed, as windows have only limited security restricted opening Have stayed before and will happily book again.

Breakfast was almost cold there was no fried eggs just scrambled. Room needs updating bit old fashioned. Bed really uncomfortable. Tv too small.

Great hotel and friendly staff. Only a few things which were minor - room was downstairs and the window was right next to some outdoor seating, so would have been very noisy on a busy afternoon/evening. Had dinner (burger) which was tasty. Unfortunately the bar and outdoor area overlook the pool so we decided against a swim and opted to pay the £15 for the spa visit instead! Parking ok but £10 per 24 hrs so could add up for a longer stay. EV charger would be handy. Room was serviced even though we didn't leave the sign out which was nice but unnecessary (changed our towels even though left on the radiator). Slept well though and it was a spacious room with good shower. Thanks!

Lovely clean rooms. Nice cosy bar and restaurant setting. The only negative comment would be the breakfast which was not of good quality and not much warm alternatives for a vegetarian.

The Evening meal was excellent and presentation could not be faulted, served straight from the kitchen 100% hot, none of the “ hot holding “ game played here . The waitress was excellent and polite, she took our order ( for four starters and mains inalll 8 different dishes ) and got them 100% correct without writing them down or using a IPad or ther IT .Think you must have photographic memory

we had a good 2 day stay at the West Cliff hotel. We made good use of the swimming pool on both days. We had breakfast each morning (Sadly no fried eggs) we ate in the restaurant 1 night, quite pricey thou albeit same as tourist areas in Bournemouth like the Pier etc? £16.95 for burger and chips or curry. overall a lovely stay

Lovely comfortable bed and room. Very friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. The indoor pool was very welcome. A good variety at breakfast, however only scrambled eggs were offered. Would like an option for eggs of your choice to be cooked to order. Plenty of parking on site.
