We were very disappointed, we booked in for the night so we could attend a birthday party in the next door hotel.my sister drove down from London so we arrived at 4oclock with every intention of having a drink in the bar beforehand only to be told on arrival it was the last day of trading and that the bar was shut. Our rooms were a big let down, bathroom smelt of urine, curtains hanging off the rail and chairs were badly marked. I didn’t bother showering in the morning as couldn’t stand the smell.I think if it’s the last day of trading we should have been notified about the bar ect on booking and should never of been charged the full price.

very clean. over the road from the beach and so could see the sea - so peaceful. however, the pool was shut and i chose this hotel partly because it advertised a pool so this was very disappointing.

The property is in need of serious refurbishment. Facilities are mostly closed (including the pool) and seems there’s a bare minimum staff working Pictures on site seem misleading

Nice hotel exterior a bit scruffy needs painting Nice inside though . Parking situation needs reviewing very expensive and privately owned not connected to the Hotel , it’s something I hadn’t calculated into the budget. Staff friendly clean rooms nicely kitted out . Pool was closed but option to use the next door hotels pool .

Great hotel and location, the only draw back was looking at a swimming pool that was closed and when we enquired they said they have no intention of opening it. We could use the pool at sister hotel next door, but that meant having to take all your stuff with you.

Good hotel - pool and other facilities provided by sister hotel Carlton which is right next to it so very convenient. Can do with a lick of paint outside and some minor TLC inside as well; besides that I had a very pleasant stay - breakfast was good and the room itself was up to standard.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was we'll stocked and enjoyable. The swimming pool was closed but fortunately we were able to walk to the hotel next-door and use their swimming pools. The Sauna and Jacuzzi facilities would have been very welcome, if only they were working! The room that we had on the same level as the reception wasn't great, as we didn't have any kind of view from the window. We were offered another room but declined it, as it was even less suitable for us. Anyway, it was just a one night stay, and overall, it was an enjoyable and worthwhile stay.

Lovely hotel, lovely staff, great breakfast and very clean Had a blocked sink that was sorted out as I was leaving and the indoor pool was closed which was disappointing as we only booked it for the indoor pool as weather showed rain.

I won’t be staying here again , the rooms are filthy the staff are not very friendly or helpful I couldn’t even begin to tell you how dirty the bathroom was the dust and dirt and cobwebs just awful, furniture falling apart on its last legs bathroom dated and dirty carpets stained curtains caked in dust they gave us a cheap tower fan in the middle of summer it was just terrible

On arrival found room was unclean , hairs in bath and around toilet , dirty towels , and a dirty sock covering up smoke alarm . Reported it , showed photos , was promised it would be sorted . Next day still exactly the same , reported again , nothing done about . Unfortunately due to being there for work I had to stay for the entire booking , and when I checked out Wednesday , nothing had been done . Absolutely disgusting !!!

The hotel did have a smell on approach which I think could be addressed easily. The rooms however were very clean, we could smell the freshness in the towels and bed linen. Excellent choice for a budget trip!

The bathroom was filthy with hairs and dirt everywhere, door handle in the bedroom was broken, stain on the bedsheet. The hotel manager said they would have given me a full refund if I’d booked direct. But when Expedia contacted the manager to act on our behalf, the manager said no.

Not great, but ok for price at peak time. Mixed feelings. We had a Large family room, but it was not very clean and we had issues with hot water. Parking £35 which seemed excessive. Nice you can use the pool next door and great location. We left an item in the room which we were told wasn’t there (even though the room had been “cleaned” and we knew exactly where it was). We then had call the next day saying they had found it and we could pay for them to post it back to us, which was a little annoying.

Extremely disappointing stay, especially for the money we paid. No proper reception, checking in done at bar. The hotel and room were tired and in much need of refurbishment. Cleanliness around the hotel was poor. Fixtures and fittings in our room were battered, the whole room including the bathroom in desperate need of upgrading. Fan in bathroom didnt work, bathroom fixtures falling off the wall. Bath mat mouldy and dirty, shower poor and water not draining away properly. Strange noises at night, not sure if it was plumbing kept me awake first night. Service at breakfast first morning chaotic, as only one member of staff on. Not his fault as impossible to do everything on your own, but tables left with dirty dishes on every where. Only one positive, breakfast selection good. Would not return to this hotel.

House keeping was very poor. Went all week with the same bed sheets, no hoover done. Bathroom dirty, tea cups washed in bathroom sink, no fresh towels everyday.

The bedroom was very hot, a fan was provided. The curtains were hanging off the rail so couldn't be closed to block out the sun, there was an old cheerio on the bathroom floor. There was a mould patch on the ceiling in the bathroom. The TV in the bedroom did not work. Breakfast did not start until 8am.

Rooms quite nice and clean

Unfortunately I chose a single room which was rather small. It just happened to be a heatwave when I arrived so the room was very hot and If I could have had an update I would have done. But the hotel is in a great position on the cliffs and walking into the town centre.

Clean & comfortable but mechanical and audio visual faults in room, which were reported and not dealt with.

Breakfast was nice. Ben who showed us to our seats couldn’t have been more helpful and the food was constantly refreshed. Our room was disappointing. The bathroom was tatty. The main window was painted shut and the side window sash cords were broken. A spoon had in propped open but not enough to keep the room cool. It was hot when we stayed but the fan provided didn’t work. The pool wasn’t in use. The outside and surrounding area was a bit grubby and run down. Staff nice enough but we won’t be staying there again.

The stay generally was good and the service was excellent. We paid to upgrade for an executive room that included a sea view and balcony, which was definitely worth the upgrade. The general cleanliness was good but the state of repair of the room wasn't great. Moreover, the layout of the room wasn't great and there was very little room between the end of the bed and the draws, a smaller set of draws would have been OK and made walking around the room easier.

We had a lovely rime away but the hotel is in need of some updating, the floors were incredibly creaky and noisy, not ideal for a family stay with a baby. The breakfast was good. We were unfortunately disturbed at around 1am by the alarms going off which terrified our 3 month old.

Good breakfast, Free wi fi was rubbish as it did not work on phone or i pad . Just said cannot connect to server

We stayed here last year and it was very nice. This year it was sadly not up to the same standard. The shower was too hot (to the point it set off the fire alarm). The windows didn’t close so noise from outside was very prominent. A bit disappointing overall. Also parking is extortionate. We learnt from last year and parked on the road outside for a third of the price. On a plus point Ben was very kind and helpful. I don’t think I will book here next year

Great location and view and good size rooms.

The bathroom needed updated shower system. Shower either scalding hot or cold and no power.

No internet, tv remote didn't work,room was hot windows open six inches, The toilet was,try and sit on it,absolutely joke.car park £20 ive had better stays in truck stops and cheaper and thats with the truck .£270 FOR 2NIGHT NOT EVEN BREAKFAST UNBELIEVABLE

We called in advance to inform the hotel that we would be checking in late, the lady on the phone left a message for the night staff. We arrived just before midnight to see a number on the front door saying to go to the Carlton hotel or call a number for assistance. Called multiple times, no answer. Went to the hotel across the road (Carlton Hotel) to see another letter on the door to ring a mobile number. Called the number multiple times - no answer. We had to forcibly pull open a powered door that was off, to get into the hotel after being locked outside for 20 minutes in the freezing cold after a long drive at midnight. There was also another couple who were already checked in that were locked out of the hotel! There was no staff at reception. We finally found a member of staff who apologised, stating his phone was on ‘sleep mode’ (do not disturb) so the calls didn’t come through. His number was on the front door to the hotel! We were then told we were staying at the Carlton hotel, and had been moved from the hotel we had originally booked. ‘They move all their winter bookings to the Carlton Hotel’. We eventually got our room keys, and 2 free drink tokens as a ‘sorry’. We get to our room and find a letter stating to claim free drink vouchers at reception. So not that much of a special ‘sorry’. The room decor was also awful. Horrible wall paper and paintings. In need of an update.

Bit of confusion over room booking, but staff were so friendly and helpful, they sorted it quickly. All staff we met were so friendly and helpful.

I am writing to express my disappointment following our recent stay at your hotel. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations due to several issues. Upon arrival, we noticed mould on the curtain, a dirty bath, and a non-functional telephone in the room. While we appreciated being offered a 50% discount on the first night, we have since reviewed the charges and noticed that the full 50% was not actually refunded as agreed. Additionally, despite having the “service room” label displayed on our door for the entire day, no housekeeping staff attended our room. We were left without clean towels and other essentials, which caused significant inconvenience. While Josephine, the manager, was helpful and tried her best to assist us, our overall stay was disappointing. Given the circumstances, we feel that more could have been done to rectify the situation, but unfortunately we had limited options at the time. We kindly ask that you review our concerns and the refund discrepancy and advise on the next steps. We hope to see a resolution that reflects the inconvenience we experienced. ]

Staff were wonderful, very welcoming, professional, and attentive.The room was above expectations, bright clean and comfortable.One or two minor areas of detail in the room need patching up but very acceptable.Common areas are excellent, breakfast was great and the breakfast team were super welcoming.

Check in girl was pleasant but had an issue with body odour whxj was very unpleasant. The marble reception top was greasy and dirty as was the entrance and lift in the hotel. There was a linen napkin, a box of cigarettes and other rubbish in the plants by the reception door when we arrived which was still there when we left 2 days later. The other check in staff that we spoke to were very blunt and uninterested in helping us with our enquiries. The pool was closed so we were told to use the pool At the sister hotel but when we arrived there this too was closed and remained closed for the duration of our stay. Very disappointed overall with our stay as the sister hotel next door was the complete opposite when we stayed there in October. On a positive note, the breakfast was very good as is the location.

Ok place to stay. One receptionist a little rude. Receptionist that checked us in was brill. Had difficulty accessing our room. Had to wait 45 minutes. Was upgraded due to the inconvenience plus given a discount at the restaurant. Room was nice, dated furniture. Shower pressure awful. Lovely hot bath! Recommended restaurant very poor. Service was terrible. Ordered my free drinks which did not come. Had to wait a long time for our food when the restaurant was half empty. Plus side, hotel was a 10 min walk to the beach and pier.

Exceptional staff friendly polite and very good at interacting with the guests

Reception was really friendly and gave us all theinformationwe needed, check in was quick,lovely room ,quite ,bed was so comfortable, hotel was central to boscombe and bournmouth, will definitely recommend!

The staff offered a very inefficient and slow service.

We found East Cliff hotel to be as expected for a BW 3* - a little worn around the edges and old fashioned decor. Although nondescript in colour and furniture, our room was very spacious and spotlessly clean (3rd floor sea view) as was the bathroom. We opted out of breakfast (extra £15) as we prefer not to be constrained by set times and it was easy enough to find coffee etc 10-15 minutes downhill walk away on the pier prom. We appreciated the free drinks offer in lieu of any housekeeping. It was easy to access the pool next door at the Carlton but it got crowded early on. The staff make this hotel - thanks to Jamol in particular for pleasant, efficient, patient and helpful service. East Cliff is in a good position for reaching the beach but remember there is an uphill climb back or a taxi ride of £6-8 depending where you leave from in town. It is also in walkable distance from the train station or £6-7 by taxi.

Near the beach. Good staff and good cleaniness. Good breakfast fast options. Only problem is paid car parking.

Great location

Our room had 2 bedrooms and felt really comfortable with our children. Close to beach and train station and nice view from window. We had a comfortable stay. The only downside was the carpet and decor is a bit run down and the shower was weak. I thought it was excellent value for money and we enjoyed our stay.

Was a pleasure staying at this hotel. I would definitely stay here again. A calm, quiet area that is easy to get to the beach and city centre. Highly recommend.

Breakfast is good. Rooms are big and have a TV 📺. The shower wasn't brilliant. Nice staff you can walk to the beach. My stay was good.

Nice hotel , however too many run down buildings in the area, crack heads begging everywhere and so many gangs of asylum seekers just hanging about , quite intimidating, def won’t be going back to Bournemouth

Only stayed one night. Checking in was quite easy, staff very good. Room was clean and good value. Had the breakfast and found it very good. If I need to stay in the area again , I will definitely consider the hotel again.

Room was small,(not a double as booked) dated didn't look clean although bed and linen were fresh and clean. Bathroom floor tiles were cracked broken and a couple were loose. Water unless showered was luke warm wifi wouldn't log on. Restaurant was closed only open for Breakfast was offered to eat in sister hotel (expensive) Overnight car parking wasn't free said in info they sent £15 then when log on app £20.00. had to challenge, then they put it on at £15. Went down to Breakfast. Mugs wouldn't fit under Coffee machine Not a great choice of buffet Hot food fresh out was warm Opened Tomato sauce over plate a lot of ants fell out all over food. Spoke to staff member said oh with no interest. So totally lost the will to live and walked out. Would never stay there again and put me off that chain .

Stayed here for 4 nights in Family Room, 2 Adults and 2 kids. Room was adequate for our needs. Kids said sofa bed was comfortable. Upon request, we (my daughter and I) had the king-size bed split into two singles. Bedding and towels were all nice and clean. View from window, which only partly opened for safety reasons, was of the fire escape at back of hotel, only real aspect we didn't like. Bathroom was totally functional with very good rainfall shower and nice hot water. Buffet breakfast was very good and liked very much by the kids. The balcony by reception/bar offers great views over the bay and is nice to sit out on in the evening with a drink etc. Short walk to town, even shorter to start of zig-zag down to beach. Staff were very pleasant and helpful which made everything enjoyable. Lift to upper floors too. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the East Cliff Hotel. Would recommend it, if on a budget, and will certainly stay here again.

Lovely room with beautiful view that I wasn’t expecting. Easy to get to beach, town etc without need to take car out . Lovely food served in sister restaurant with full use of there facility’s. All staff were friendly and very attentive would definitely stay again 😁
