The hotel is undergoing refurbishment and parts are rather shabby. It only had 1 lift and went out of action during our stay resulting in a long difficult walk up 3 floors.

An aging property going under refurbishment. We stayed in a pet friendly large upgraded room, with a view of the front garden. The hotel is set back from the main road, so very peaceful. Within a 10 min walk of the city, so an excellent location. We thought the price per night on a BH weekend was competitive, which included a good breakfast and free parking, which many of the other hotels charge for, these days. Very welcoming and friendly staff.

Nice rooms- although when lift broke a hike to 3rd floor Good breakfast- unfortunate that restaurant out of action as choice of food not very good and couldn’t get any food from bar at lunch time Lack of fridge in room and no bottled water

The property was in a very good location, walking distance to Cathedral and shops. Parking was available which was a big plus in Canterbury. Hotel restaurant is being refurbished which I am sure will be lovely when complete but currently bar food which was not of a very good standard.

Comfortable stay in newly renovated/built room. Ten minute walk to the city with plenty of free parking. Room was similar to a Premier Inn but was brand new. Breakfast was not included so we didn’t try it, but there is a Waitrose and a. Tesco Extra about a ten minute walk away. Only downside was that there is currently major construction going on at the hotel so 8:30am on the dot we were deafened by loud noise.

It was for our wedding anniversary, love Canterbury and was our first visit to the hotel. Beautiful place, shame we had scaffolding at the back of us, which we looked on to, really rattled and the plastic was flying around due to the high winds.

Carpark needs a good clean up which would give a great look and not too expensive. This should at least be a weekly occurrence. Our room was a newly refurbished room which was very good and two goon nights sleep were had. Breakfast was excellent

Room was clean and in good condition. Front desk staff were exceptional. Professional, helpful, friendly with all guests. Bar staff was good. He worked well under pressure when he had to juggle many tables on his own.

Stayed here for one night before visiting Kent University. Close to town, a 15 min walk into the centre. We had a family room with one double bed and two single beds, the size of the room was excellent and probably one of the best sized family rooms we’ve stayed in. The front desk check-in staff were very friendly and helpful and were able to answer all of our questions. Whilst the room was clean, it was very tired and run down, the bedsheets had some stain marks on them, and the carpets have definitely seen better days. Being an old building there was no sound insulation every time someone in adjoining room or below us flushed the toilet or close the door we could hear it, especially in the middle of the night when people are getting up to use the toilets. The downstairs area by the lift had a very musty and old building smell about it. Whilst it had Carpark on site, the spaces are very small and I suspect they’re probably aren’t enough spaces for everybody who stays at the hotel. We arrived at about 7 pm and had one of the last spaces, which is rather tricky to get into and out of. Would I stay here again? Probably not in its current state, as there are plenty of other hotels in Canterbury, I would probably try one of those first. Having said that if it was to be refurbished, possibly as the room size was good for a family.

Although the hotel was very nice overall, the housekeeping was below par. We were aware that the rooms would not be cleaned on a daily basis which was fine, when we did request the room be made up, all that was done was emptying the trash, making the bed and changing towels They did not replenish the toilet paper or clean the bathroom counter and mirror. They did not replace the coffee and milk for the coffee maker. The room was not vacuumed. The restaurant was not open except for breakfast and the bar didn’t serve food until 6 pm.

We stayed for two nights whilst visiting Canterbury and were very glad we had chosen this hotel. It was undergoing some refurbishment whilst we were there but this didn’t affect us in any way. We had an Executive room which appeared to have been recently refurbished - it was large, clean and very comfortable. There were masses of electricity sockets, USB sockets next to the bed, a large safe, a kettle, an iron and ironing board. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice of cold food together with a menu of hot food cooked to order - my husband had the kippers which were excellent! There was a reasonably sized car park where we felt very happy to leave our car for the duration of our stay. The city centre is about a 15 minutes walk away and, as well as the sights, there are lots of good restaurants there. We would definitely stay there if we came to Canterbury again and would highly recommend it.

We paid extra for an executive room but it didn't meet the description. A good sized room with quite a lot of it as empty space. On our last morning there was no hot water for a shower for which an apology was not offered. The corridor carpets are "mended" with tape. Not great value for money.

The room was ok, aware hotel being refurbished- there was a odour in the corridors ? From kitchens or building works. One side of the property is very dates, we had a family room basically in the loft with no AC or fridge, it was 40 degrees in our room and we could barely sleep. Next night we changed rooms to a newly renovated room and it was way nicer and more modern. Staff were friendly and helpful and understood our concern and we had no problem switching rooms. Nice new bar area and a place outside to enjoy a beverage

The hotel building is beautiful inside and out, with historic charm and tasteful decoration. The room was a good size. However, sound insulation was extremely poor. Noise from adjacent rooms, the corridor, upstairs, and downstairs was clearly audible. The floors squeaked heavily, and even placing cushions under the door did not help. Guests with children and a dog arrived next door late at night, making it difficult to sleep. The room had a low ceiling, small windows that barely opened, no air conditioning, and was very hot. A fan was provided in another room I was offered, but it was closer to loud kitchen ventilation pipes, which continued running past 11 p.m. I had a very poor night’s sleep. At check-in, I was told a vegan English breakfast would be available, but only bread and baked beans were offered. Also, the hotel is under refurbishment, which was only mentioned after booking. Due to the noise, lack of ventilation, and misleading information, I would not stay here again.

A lovely hotel, room was fantastic, everything we needed, very clean, very spacious, we could of had our room made up every day but opted out, food was excellent, the only comment I'd give was that they need more staff at breakfast time, they were lovely, very helpful & friendly but seemed to be very stretched. A lovely hotel, room was fantastic, everything we needed, very clean, very spacious, we could of had our room made up every day but opted out, food was excellent, the only comment I'd give was that they need more staff at breakfast time, they were lovely, very helpful & friendly but seemed to be very stretched. Apart from that no complaints whatsoever. If we're ever that way again, will definitely stay there & also reccomend to our friends & family.

+ Well located near centre, free parking. Excellent friendly helpful front desk girl (eventually). - arrived and noone around , notice to call 0 , noone answered. No one in bar. . After a while and deciding to at least find loo bumped into clearly overworked " do it all " girl. Pity cos she was extremely helpful eventually - re buses , petrol station etc. - big minus. Our room was on 3rd in roof . Corridors extremely hot and so was the room. Aircon in room refused to reset from 24c. Opened veluxs - was well into the night before room reached a suitable sleeping temp. Hotel seems to be having work done (restaurant wasnt available for instance) and by general appearance of common areas and corridors, not before time. We had only chosen it as suitable and reasonably priced stopoff for Channel Tunnel for which it proved ideal simple drive in morning so on balance it did what we wanted without being anything to write home about.

Lovely place, rooms could use an update but for what it’s worth it’s cozy and easily accessible from either the main road or the short walk through the backroads. Excellent location as there’s a nice quiet 10-15 minute walk to the city centre.

When you're initial interaction when checking in is for the hotel to upgrade you to a suite then you know you're going to love your stay. The suite was wonderful with extra touches such as a speaker in the bathroom so you can listen to tunes as you relax in the deep bath. The suite was tastefully decorated and the luxurious bed allowed for a great night's sleep. The location for the hotel was wonderful meaning a walking into the heart of Canterbury was only 10 minutes away so you're only ever a short distance away from checking out the Cathedral or a range of dining options. Breakfast was another triumph with many ingredients being sourced locally such as the sausages, eggs and apple juice. I stay over night 3-4 times per month and have done so for the last couple of years and I can safely say that this rates very near the top of all those stays and I look forward to hopefully staying here again soon.

Room was very clean and tidy. However for £150 a night inc breakfast, id expect a Coffee machine in the room. Nespresso or akin. Breakfast: coffee machine drink was simply terrible- slow as well. Need a decent fast machine. Ended up asking for a coffee from the bar which had a proper machine. Given free. Juice was bad as well- watered down package stuff. Over done the water ratio. Rest of the breakfast was adequate- nothing special. Venue: lovely location with free parking. Three star rating that could be Four with a bit of attention to detail.

Situated in a convenient location close to shopping. The room we stayed in was very spacious, had good facilities including a comfortable bed and quite clean, although the view wasnt great and the WiFi signal was awful. Nicely decorated in the foyer and reception areas but the dining area for breakfast in the morning was quite dated and dark. The breakfast overall was alright with some options but not very substantial and the bar food was a bit expensive. Would stay again but suggest going elsewhere for food.

The rooms are good and clean. The bar and kitchen service is very poor. With next to nobody in the bar you are waiting for upto 5 mins to get served and I’ve had to go to reception a couple of time to be served. The food takes a long to come out, only 2 other couples on Wednesday night waiting before us for good and it took 40mins to arrived. Very limited menu as well.

We stayed for two nights whilst visiting Canterbury and were very glad we had chosen this hotel. It was undergoing some refurbishment whilst we were there but this didn’t affect us in any way. We had an Executive room which appeared to have been recently refurbished - it was large, clean and very comfortable. There were masses of electricity sockets, USB sockets next to the bed, a large safe, a kettle, an iron and ironing board. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice of cold food together with a menu of hot food cooked to order - my husband had the kippers which were excellent! There was a reasonably sized car park where we felt very happy to leave our car for the duration of our stay. The city centre is about a 15 minutes walk away and, as well as the sights, there are lots of good restaurants there. We would definitely stay there if we came to Canterbury again and would highly recommend it.
