Hotel Barracuda

As soon as we checked in we were asked to pay additional fees which caught us off guard since we thought everything was included when we paid online. Also, this property has no elevators, so you have to carry your luggage up the stairs. The rooms are outdated but the views make up for it. The so called rainfall shower has no pressure & took forever to wash out the shampoo from my hair. They give you a remote when you check in for the tv & ac unit. If you let the bar downstairs by the pool know your from the hotel they give you half off of food & drinks. If you plan on renting a car you're able to park it across the street at the Mega overnight. We were able to see the car from our room incase we needed to check on it. The location of the hotel was nice since you are able to walk to most places. The bar downstairs would close by 11pm most nights. So the music & people partying didnt bother me since I knew it wouldn't go on all night. No Name Bar was showing all the football games in english, but if you prefer to watch it in your room they had it in spanish only. If you're able to get snorkel gear I recommend snorkeling right by the hotel before the crowd starts to gather for the day. Most nights we would just go to the Mega & buy beer/ice and take our ice chest up to the room and hang out on the balcony. FYI, this hotel has no ice machines or microwaves. Overall, I would recommend staying here for the views & convenience of having everything in walking distance.

Great location! On site Dive Shop for Scuba, two restaurants, a Mega store across the street, Chiro/Massage, I used them all! Very Good for a 3-star hotel.

The rooms are not fancy, but exactly what I look for in accommodations for a scuba diving trip. Rooms are clean and cool. The bar on the grounds is a little noisy and boisterous when the cruise ship staffers are there, but gets quiet before 10:00pm. All things considered, a fun place to stay and convenient to everything.

We stayed at this Property around 25 times in the last 35 years. We love it. Nothing fancy, but it’s right on the water and dive boats pick you up from the dock. The pool is wonderful with a swim up bar.

Great view, staff helpful, maid service was accommodating. Late check out a plus, love the view, access to pool and ocean. Does need some TLC, but they seem to be working on it. Norky at bar was wonderful!! AC great. For the price I would stay there again.

Very dated. Had to go to Maga and buy wash clothes as none were provided. No elevators ! Beautiful views is the positive.

El control de la TV nunca funcionó, el A/A de la habitación enfriaba muy poco, las instalaciones en general muy limpias. No tienen caja fuerte de pertenencias en la habitación, nos dijeron que se dejaban las cosas de valor en la recepción y si dejábamos nuestra cartera, teníamos que contar frente a los empleados nuestro dinero. Para hacer uso de la alberca tienes que consumir alimentos forzosamente, nos prohibieron comer unas galletas que llevábamos en la mano para podernos sentar en la mesa de la piscina.

Stayed here multiple times before, it’s not luxurious, but it gets the job done. In my opinion, you are paying for the view and not so much more. Little disappointed this time numerous cockroaches were in the bathroom. Would probably stay again, but I would bring some cockroach spray.

Solo la ubicación vale la pena, pero en si el hotel ya es muy antiguo, falta remodelar, no habría problema con ello, si estuviera el correcto mantenimiento, colchones viejos e incómodos, (se sientes pozos), sábanas y almohadas sucios y/o manchadas, al llegar cobran un cargo extra de sanidad que en ningún hotel había pagado solo más que ahí.

Recibimos la habitación en tiempo, sin embargo en el baño el rollo de papel estaba manchado de, me pareció era popo de cucaracha. Al día siguiente me percate que en la regadera había más de lo mismo, se hizo la limpieza dos días seguidos y la regadera permaneció igualm no se hizo el aseo de manera correcta. Creo es algo que deberían checar este punto.

This hotel has a serious cleaning issue. The fridge looked dirty. Bed sheets, pillowcases and towels had stains all over. Do they even wash these? Our room had trash under the bed and behind the nightstand, and as I soon as we went into the room for the first time, we saw a dead bug on the floor, clear proof they don’t clean rooms thoroughly when guests leave. They don’t mop the floors. The cleaning person came during morning cleaning and “cleaned” the room in about 5 minutes. Barely cleaned the bathroom. We had to tell the person about the trash under the bed and behind the nightstand, otherwise it was going to stay there for who knows how long. We saw cockroaches. Yes, multiple baby roaches. And we saw a big flying cockroach. Fridge had multiple baby roaches. Saw baby roaches on the nightstand as well. As I said, this hotel has a serious cleaning issue. We also saw something that looked like a gecko. This one came from the hallway. It went in through the gap under the door. They need to seal these gaps. The shower water pressure is too low. On the first day some type of black stuff was coming out of the bathroom sink faucet. No idea what it was but I refused to use that water to wash my mouth. No hand towels, and no bathroom carpet when we arrived. AC could be better. It did its job but it felt like it took a while to cool the room.

The worst hotel I have stayed at in Cozumel. This property is so old and uncared for that it should just be razed. The rooms are small, my room was dirty, there was no furniture for the balcony. No chairs in the room at all. The bathroom was dirty. The air conditioning did not work. The Wi-Fi is horrendous. It reeked of bug spray, and yet I found what looked like an assassin bug on my pillow. If you’re not familiar, these bugs cause chagas. When I mentioned it to the front desk, they said oh that’s just a cockroach. Like that’s OK. But it wasn’t a cockroach. The only good thing about this hotel is its location. Just say no.

Located in the main road, within walking distance to most shops. Facility is old and not very well maintained, make that mostly patched up. Cleanliness left much to be desired, with sand on the floor and walls and sink in the bathroom not properly cleaned. The shower head sprayed water in every direction except in the desired one. Loud music from the beach below through the day. On the positive side the bed was comfortable and the A/C worked ok.. No elevator to reach the higher floors. In short: you get what you pay for!

It should have been our first clue that when we got there to check in the hotel employee asked if we wanted to see the room. There was no hot water, towels were dirty and stained. My pillow had black smudges on it and at some point in the middle of the night some one started screaming expletives in another room. The bathroom had a window that opened to the hallway that could not be closed all the way. There was no elevator and although we thought breakfast was included, we found out that it wasnt and cost almost $80 USD for 4 people (they told us we would get food half off but then found out that was only if you paid cash). The restaurant, pool and property were great. Which is what you see in the pictures. Do not recommend staying at the hotel.

yes there nice view but waking up to a cockroach in the room first thing in the morning not a start of a good day they don't offer water in the fridge or anything as a matter of fact the little fridge was unplugged and the rooms were very hot apon arrival not recommended for people with walking impairment as you have to walk up stairs

This place is a dump. The bathroom was gross, the metal around the shower is all rusted, the silver on the mirror was almost gone and we had 2 large cockroaches in the bathroom during our trip. The maid never cleaned the bathroom and after 3 days I had to ask for new towels. Only 1 towel per guest, no wash cloths or hand towels. The beach bar is so loud you can't possibly any rest, the music starts before 8:00 am and goes to 10:00 pm. There is no safe in the room only at the front desk and it costs $1 to use the safe. The air conditioning didn't work for 3 days, my travel companion ended up fixing it on his own. This place is cheap and directly across from Mega but if you can afford a better hotel I highly recommend it!

This property was under construction. Sir did not work. Tv would not turn on. Only one towel. Moved to Hotel Cozumel.

I like how close it is to the town, plenty of eating options close by. Grocery store across the street. I like the pool/bar and simple rooms. I don't like the horrible mattresses. They are all bad. The bar music sucks and is really loud until late.

I like the convenience of diving , location, staff, view. The internet in a lot of rooms isn't available, though, but I got a room that had internet. There is a lot of loud music and partying going on a cruise liner days, though, but I tried to ignore it. I like the fan in the room; my room had a good AC, but some ...not so much. They accommodated me, though. will stay there again

Nice view from balcony. Beds and pillows were hard, not good sleep. Good swimming. Our beach and pool got overtaken with cruise ship people every day. Great dining options. Convenient.

It was a wonderful stay! Helpful staff, friendly, clean, a bit old, but we loved it! We had a second story room with balcony overlooking the sea, about 15 feet away. No beach, but sandy area with loungers, tables, ool, and bar.Close to city center, large grocery store across street, helpful tour guide, luggage help. Beat my expectations, miss it already!!

Staff would not change dirty sheets upon arriving to find them dirty. Woman at front desk was nasty to me for asking. Shower had really bad black mold. Toilet seat does not go all the way down. Not worth the price point with how run down everything is and nasty the staff are.

This property continues to go down-hill over the multiple years that I've come to visit the island and stayed here. Every time there were issues with my room whether it's the AC or the bed, they always fixed the issue/moved me, etc.. This time I discovered there was sand inside the bedsheet (obviously from a previous guest) and was told flat out NO, we will not give you clean sheets by the front desk woman. I have stayed in about six of the rooms over the years. Most of the rooms have a horrible very old hard bed that feel like sleeping on wires or the AC is half-dead and loud or the shower is filled with thick mold, or the toilet seat does not go down all the way...just the normal Barracuda stuff. Place needs a new owner and management. Will never return. No hotel staff should ever treat paying customers like this.

Front desk staff is rude, and seems bothered even when asking for something as simple as towls. Rooms are dated, mattresses are flat and wore out. You can literally see and feel the springs. Bedding isnt changed, only made.

El hotel es cómodo, vista el mar, frente a supermercados, parque principal, cerca del centro y en el paso de los competidores del ironman, medio ironman y otros eventos deportivos.

Location

It is a run down hotel but perfect if you want to be near the place with all the restaurants and shops. It us nicely located right in front of a mega grocery store/department store where you can fund anything you need. It has its private access to the beach for snorkeling and diving companies can pick you up right at the hotel’s pier. The pool looks nice and it has a bar with discount for hotel guests

Location on the seashore looks great, it seems to be only one where there's no road in between, but it was too noisy to enjoy it except for hours after midnight. Seaview from the bed & balcony. Walking distance from the centre.

The location is fantastic! Everything is conveniently located within a short distance. There’s a large store across the street where you can find everything you need.

i think all the rooms have ocean view. It is a modest place, but well priced and convenient. Our airbnb was a disaster, so we booked this last minute and weren't disappointed.

beautiful waterfront ,walkable to town , grocery etc. and missed 1st night due to plane mechanical & they said expedia would give us a refund.in an email. 2@nd request to expedia and no response from expedia. WE did not like that the place next door that is connected to hotel w/ uses their pool told us happy hr 5-9 every night. Got it 1st night. 2nd night ordered & waitress took order and verified it was 2 for 1 . We did not get it so talked to cashier and she said mgr said for last night only.. Manager then told us something different..only for locals. 3 different stories about the same thing with 15 minutes.We reported it to the hotel. I DO NOT APPRECIATE BEING LIED TO AND FOR reason that reason we will never stay there again.

Location was convenient & central to anything you would need. I don’t know why any hotels on Cozumel say they have a beach club when there are really no beaches on the main strip but it was fine. Good restaurant (limited hours though) & 50% off if you are a hotel guest.

The pool is lovely but small and the restaurant food was great, some restaurant staff have bad attitudes. The hotel is so old and the prices are too high. We were there with a group of 16 people and we all have decided that we will never grace this hotel with our business again. We've stayed there for several years during Carnaval but this year every single one of us were disgusted with the shape the hotel is in. Rating: Very very poor.
