Travelodge by Wyndham Edmonton West

I booked because it had a pool with a water dlide and jacuzzi. Seemed perfect for our family with young children. The wster slide was out of commission and looked like it had been so for a long time. The gym equipment was broken and the frint desk staff were not very kind, helpful or accomodating.

The elevator in first tower was out so we transferred to the other tower and the elevator broke down the next day . Luckily they fixed other elevator but ours was down . What if there was emergency and both out and with someone in wheelchair? The towers are not connected. Tells me they are not checked out properly ?! Breakfast is a joke , the food is limited not much and not replenished . Do better on that please. The beds were comfy and we had the best sleep!

Room ok & Staff was great & Restaurant was great & Pool is dirty

Waterslide is not working as well as laundry.

Hot tub was out of service, and the pool area was extremely strong smelling of chemical. Our hotel room floors were sticky, paint was pealing off the wall by the window, the room smelt musky. The washroom ceiling had hair on it. The hotel room door hand kept jamming in the down position, therefore not closing properly and locking. Had to call the front desk for help. The stairwell door handle was also about the fall off. The breakfast options were very basic, 45 mins in to serving and all the waffle mix was gone with none left to be replaced.

Having a great workout area for dogs was a bonus.

Amenities need improvement. Pool was out of service, wash/dryer was not working.

Great value for the price. The pool area seemed popular! Very efficient staff, appreciate the large green space for the doggies. Have booked another stay here.

The gym area lighting is dark.,need to change the lights.

It was great but the elevator went out and we were in the top floor

Breakfast was really poor, no hot food, just cereals, yogurt and boiled eggs in the fridge, breakfast room looked dirty. Our room the bed didn’t even have a fitted sheet, just a top sheet, duvet without a cover and then another top sheet, there was old dried blood on the curtains, hair on the bathroom floor. Rooms were tiny and walls paper thin, could hear people scraping their car windshields outside the next morning. Rooms are tiny.

The hotel is very dated. The ac in the room was covered in dust bunnies all the way around and you could see day light, definitely not sealed. The toilet didn’t flush properly, rust spots all over the sink and bathtub, plug ins didn’t keep your phone cord in because it was so old and loose, so noisy all night long, strange people hanging around outside so going for a smoke wasn’t a thing after 9pm, the heaters made weird noises so we didn’t sleep very good. Didn’t feel safe there at all. Beds were pretty comfy and they were clean. That was the only perk lol. Check in was very unprofessional, the pool maintenance fella was an arrogant jerk. Definitely will NOT stay there ever again.

The room was spotless and met my needs

When we walked into our room it instantly smelt like cigarette smoke. The walls were dirty and the bathroom had hair on the toilet seat. We will not be staying again.

The breakfast menu consisted of waffles and dried old bread, cereal, only 1 waffle maker working, bags of garbage piled up in the "breakfast room". The breakfast service woman closed the door early, my kids couldn't get in for there sub par breakfast. Our room was not clean, food all over thr carpet, beds not changed from the last guests (bed was full of hair and dried crusty stuff on the sheets and pillow cases, bathrooms were full of hair, burn holes in drapes and furniture. The hot tub was a milky cesspool of bacteria due to the jets not running and improper chemicals. There was a security guard with a stab vest in the front lobby. Other guests partying all night, dogs barking and drunk people being obnoxious all night. The lights on the outside of the building did not work. We did not feel safe at all. Anybody could walk in off the street and access the rooms. Would not recommend, will never stay here again. Very disappointed in the absolute and blatant inaccurate depiction of the this slum land.

If you stay at this hotel because the photos make it look nice then don’t. They’re very old and don’t represent what it looks like now. Hotel was very dirty everywhere you went. Pool area was full of dirt. I’d expect a room I was staying in to actually be cleaned, but nope, dirt everywhere.

Staff were amazing. Maintenance to pool was understandable. Rooms were dated, and not up to cleanliness standards.

Had bed bug in and complained to GM, fighting for refund. Informed Health Canada. Total professional negligence.

Horrible never again! Had a bed bug infestation in my room. Couldn’t even sleep there. Tried contacting the hotel staff after my stay asking for a refund but never got a response back.

The room was dirty and looked like blood stains in the bathroom floor and shower curtain. Staff was okay, but the place looked like a halfway house. There was a gentleman in the room next door that was tweaking all night, slamming doors, being manic and yelling. Got this room just to lay our heads for a few hours and that didn’t happen

Area was nice. Bathroom needed improvement. Shower faucet bad no water pressure

They keys for the room didn't work multiple times lots of trips back to the front desk. A/C breaker was tripping every 5 min. After 5 times the solution was to run an extension cord across the room to plug it in. Probably would not go back.

Rooms are getting run down

Rooms are tight on space, especially for a family of four, felt a little cramped. Big furniture in small rooms doesn't help. No coat hanging area near the door was annoying, coat rod is in the far back of the room, very impractical. Beds are comfy and bedding was actually better than some pricier options. Water pressure in the shower takes 10 min to build up and still very weak, tub does not drain well. The A/C/heat unit was not weather sealed well and did not seem to work; temp in the room remained the same even if we adjusted for heat. The breakfast experience is a disaster: tiny space cannot accommodate stream of guests, only 1 waffle maker is completely inadequate. Other items are not replenished quickly enough (e.g. yogurt) and only a few at a time, so they disappear instantly. We only managed to have breakfast 1 out of 3 mornings, it was not worth fighting other guests for space at the toaster or waffle maker. They also run out of items way before the end of breakfast so if you try to go a little later to avoid the crowds, there's no food or drinks left. Only 2 cereals and they seemed appropriate for diabetics only. The pool and water slide are a big hit with the kids, that is a great positive and seems to compensate for the other issues for parents. The jets in the hot tub are practically on their last breath. Noticed wobbly things around - step ladder in pool needs to be tightened, shower curtain rod, etc.

Lack of outlets for plugging in devices. Tv didn't work. Room reall small overall for a 2 queen room

Rooms were renovated, one of our rooms were renovated nicely but had no heat, took them some time to get it working. The room on 3rd floor looked to be rushed on renovations as they were not complete. No rod in closet or hangers for clothes and coats. Only one hook in the bathroom. We booked two rooms with 2 queen beds in each. We received 2 rooms with two double beds. So it was very tight for us but we made it work.

AC didn't work...fan worked but wouldn't cool room down lower then 24. Nice to switch rooms after 1st night no sleep due to beds were not comfortable to sleep on.

The rooms are small. The beds are sunken. The blinds are tattered and will not stay in place to keep the lights out. I had to use a hair tie to wouund them together to keep them in place. The bathroom is tiny. A very disappointing stay. The breakfast room small with a line up t get anything. Very frustrating weekend stay

Room was good, bed was comfy and staff was very accommodating.

Booked 2 rooms at the same time but ended up on different floors which I wasn’t impressed about, being on the same floor would have been nice. When we arrived they had a sign saying they would be away from the front counter for 5-10 minutes and we waited there for over 20 minutes just to check in and when we left there was no one at the front desk to check out and hand cards back too. Was not impressed that they let people go in the pool fully dressed. Don’t get me started on their continental breakfast! You had your choice of fruit loops, toast or waffles. Took over 40 minutes to get to the toaster to make toast. Only reason I am giving it 3 stars is because the room was clean. For one night it would be okay but if staying longer I would definitely go somewhere else.

Great experience Clean and quiet Only thing that was odd - there was only 1 worker at the front. Check in and out took super long with 4 people waiting in line

The room was clean and just the right size. The staff were friendly. There was sufficient parking space.

Well... Unfortunately I would not recommend this place. The front desk lady was nice, and the room itself was good but we didnt feel safe in our room. We had a very uncomfortable encounter with some homeless people in the room hallway that made us uneasy. Also the breakfast was horrid. The lady running the breakfast was so grumpy.. which is no way to start a day. The breakfast was the worst I have ever seen at a hotel. We did not wake up for it on our second morning.

The check in situation was awful. I waited in line for 30 mins it wasn’t the girls fault but more staff is desperately needed when there’s one poor lady trying to check in a line of people out the door

The room was very clean and room had a mini fridge and microwave. The building is old with thin walls and dated decor/furniturey. We had trouble getting into our room because the key card wouldn’t work properly. The hotel staff were helpful when sorting it out but it was annoying to deal with. Overall it was what we expected for the price and was a solid budget option.

The front desk lady was very very rude and confrontational. I have stayed here only once before this visit and I will never come again. extremely rude and condescending attitude and tone.

Good price and best location for our needs, just really small and dated.

Nice hotel for travelling with kids and pets. Close to West Edmonton mall.. nice pet area. Breakfast is good but a little congested for the size. Will stay there again.

Front desk staff is fantastic, friendly, kind, knowledgeable and very helpful. Location is absolute, 5-6 minutes to West Edmonton Mall, also right on the hwy that leads to Jasper, and you can also walk to Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree, Costco, Tim Hortons and many other local stores and business. Hotel is quiet, there are two towers. Also offers breakfast. And its a very easy drive downtown and around the city.

Here’s my honest breakdown of a one night stay. I booked this hotel because it was low budget and only needed for one night. With that being said, you get what you pay for. Staff on all occasions were amazing, quick to help, pleasant and attentive. Aside from that- for starters the rooms are on the smaller side and quite dark as there is only one small window facing other units. The air conditioner is extremely loud. The built-in phone charger plug was broken so don’t forget to bring your own. The provided Keurig coffee pods had already been opened then folded over and put back into the tray. Not sure if the cleaning crew had noticed it. The arcade has 4 vintage coin based playing machines so don’t get excited and they take loonies. Waterslide was not in order and the hot tub fits about 6 people so don’t bother as it will be full at all hours. The little pantry they have for items to purchase is expensive. Think airport prices. There is no longer a Smittys at this location like pictured in photos. It has been replaced by a pizza joint. I also didn’t realize this was a less than desirable area of the city and my favourite part was the 20 or so crackheads wandering outside the property. Not even kidding. They have a security guard inside the lobby and now I know why when I went outside to grab a piece of luggage. Don’t plan this spot with family or extended stays. Otherwise it’s a cheap and convenient place to crash for the night.

A lot of homeless people hanging around the area. Decent breakfast. Comfortable bed. Just an older hotel that needs a bit of updating and care otherwise decent for a short stay.

The hotel/rooms/pool was dirty, run down, staff was not going out of their way to be helpful, breakfast room was tiny and had limited seating for such a big hotel. There were homeless people loitering outside, drunk people in the parking lot. It was noisy at night, a lot of slamming doors and yelling. Overall a terrible experience.

I’ll admit I hesitated to go after reading some of the previous negative reviews, but I’m so glad we took the chance! Our room was very clean and the beds were super comfortable, exactly what we were hoping for during our 3-night stay. The front desk attendant who checked us in was incredibly kind, helpful, and knowledgeable, which made a great first impression. Breakfast area was a bit on the small side, but the lady working in there was fantastic, she kept everything spotless and was so friendly every morning. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would absolutely stay again. The only downside was that the guest dryer wasn’t working during our stay, but otherwise everything was great!

Good things - the beds were comfortable, there were no bed bugs, the staff at the reception was friendly, the bathroom was pretty clean. The room for the price was ok. Bad things - the hot tub was dirty and the whole pool are needs updating. The worst - breakfast. The lady who works there guards the food with her own life. There was hardly any selection. Just bread and jar of peanut butter. They even run out of cereal, not that there was a big choice anyways. No jam, no fruits, no proteins. They had yogurt, but you need to ask the lady about it. The juice machine was out of service, they only had orange juice that tasted like water. Only one, old waffle maker that you need to que to use for an hour. No thanks, we went to A&W. Overall, if you just need a cheap place to sleep, its ok, otherwise, i wil not recommended. There are many other hotels nearby that are also affordable and better option.

The hotel itself was as expected, but the amenities promised in the listing were not delivered as advertised. The waterslide was out of order, and the hot tub had no jets. In the arcade room one of the three games was out of order. Last the promised buffet breakfast wasn't a buffet, but a continental breakfast with a one waffle per person policy. There were no warm or hot options outside toasting, and it was quite disappointing. As the buffet breakfast, and waterslide were the primary reasons for choosing the travelodge over other comparable hotels it dampened enthusiasm for the stay.

The tv was sporatic. Had maintenance up 2x. A cord issue. No water pressure..a trickle of water for bath shower, or sink. AC was freeze or nothing. No proteins for breakfast. Boiled eggs. Fruit just apples. No cream cheese for bagels. Broken waffle maker. Sour cream for coffee.

Check in took forever, room keys took 3 tries to get to work. The included "breakfast" was just toast and cereal. Some sort of a protein source would have been nice. Not the cleanest hotel for the price we paid.

We booked this hotel through Expedia because the app indicated it was only a 3-minute drive from the Edmonton Mall, but it's actually 9 minutes away, which is misleading. Additionally, we weren't informed before booking that the waterslide was out of service, which was a huge disappointment, especially for a family trip. The breakfast area also didn't meet our expectations: the place was unclean and very disorganized. Considering the hotel's price, we expected better service and more transparent information.

Disappointing stay. The “included breakfast” had barely any options — no fruit, bagels, etc — and we were told we couldn’t make a second waffle, even though it was the only edible thing available. Our room only had three pillows and none were available when we asked for more. The pool was poorly maintained, and the slide was out of service with no notice. Outdoor seating shown in photos wasn’t set up, even though the weather was great. Also, the bathroom toiletries were falling off the wall. We chose this hotel specifically for the advertised breakfast and pool, and felt misled.

All good, but very limited breakfast, only one waffle per person
