Stayed here with my tour group the night of October 8. The main building of the hotel is over 300 years old, and this hotel screams character. Some of the stairs are quite steep, but have no fear, they have elevators. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms felt a bit spartan but were very comfortable. Bathroom had a tub and a seperate shower stall. The fixtures reminded me of my grandmothers home. The breakfast was very good and well worth the price. If I were to travel to Gronnigen I would stay here again. Lots of places to eat nearby if you dont want to dine at the hotel. Underground parking is a short walk from the hotel.

Goede centrale ligging, personeel vriendelijk en correct, ontbijt en diner prima. Veel trapjes, drempels en opstapjes en losse en ongelijke tegels en bestrating. Hier alsmede de trapbekleding is nogal wat onderhoud nodig. Het doet helaas afbreuk aan de totale beleving in zo'n statig oud gebouw met dito chique naam.

Nice facilities, great atmosphere, and personnel. Superb location. The only drawback is for those people with some mobility limitations, due to multiple steps/stairs to be overcome.

Cleanliness was excellent, service was exceptional as was the food. Only problem that I had was the stairs, which were steeper than we are used to in the UK, and the steps were shallower. No problem going up but had to be really careful coming back down. This was obviously due to the age of the building, so wouldn't change a thing.

Het hotel is echt een beetje vergane glorie. Ziet er smoezelig uit en heeft aan uitstraling verloren. Is van een mooi, historisch hotel van jaren geleden een beetje low buget hotel geworden. Kamer was heel simpel en slordig ingericht. Niets bijpassend. Prijs/kwaliteitverhouding niet helemaal ok.

Hotel und Einrichtung sind nicht mehr neu, haben aber gerade dadurch auch ihren Charme. Leider lässt an einigen Stellen die Sauberkeit zu wünschen übrig. Das Personal ist durchweg sehr freundlich aber nicht immer ausreichend besetzt. Für ältere Menschen sind einige Treppen im Haus eine Herausforderung, mit Gepäck sogar ein Hindernis. Lage ist Top! Wer auf etwas verwinkelte und plüschige Hotels abfährt ist hier richtig. Preis und Leistung stimmen.

De ligging is mooi midden in het centrum, maar dat hield ook in dat er de hele nacht lawaai was van het nachtleven in Groningen. Het gebouw stond in de steigers, maar ook binnen is het aan renovatie toe. Vlekken op de vloerbedekking, kapotte tegels in de badkamer en een lekkende douche. Het ontbijt was goed, de bedden lagen lekker en het was schoon.

Geweldige accommodatie! Vergane glorie en daarmee een uitstekend decor voor een film. De koperen waren doorgepoetst zodat de koperlaag eraf is. Prachtige vormen. Een beetje vies zoals een bijna verstopte wasbak met haren in de afsluiter. Overal wat te doen en een heerlijk copieus ontbijt.

Wunderschönes altehrwürdiges gebäude mit einem schönen innenhof, sehr freundliches Personal. Tolles Frühstücksbuffet, das eine große Auswahl an Speisen bietet. Kein Zimmer gleicht dem anderen. Manche räume gehen über zwei Etagen. Ich hatte ein sehr geräumiges Zimmer.

Ich hatte ein sehr geräumiges Zimmer mit toller Ausstattung. Das Frühstücksbuffet war toll. Sehr vielfältig und seinen Preis wert. Die alten Räumlichkeiten haben ein großartiges Ambiente. Trotz zentraler Lage sehr ruhig.

Das Hotel ist in einem wunderschönen alten Haus und sehr gut vom Bahnhof und der Innenstadt aus zu erreichen. Ich musste mehrmals lange warten um meinen Schlüssel abzugeben oder wieder zu bekommen denn die Rezeption war zwar 24 Stunden besetzt aber es war nicht 24 Stunden jemand da. Das Einzelzimmer war sehr sehr klein und das Fenster nicht zu öffnen. Außerdem lag es zum Hof und dort war bis tief in die Nacht Lautstärke und Trubel der anderen Dachterrassen. Bei einem Preis von 83 € für eine Nacht hätte ich mir etwas mehr Komfort gewünscht.

Wir hatten von einer Suite für das Geld mehr erwartet. Wir waren noch nie in einer so kleinen Suite, war nur etwas größer als ein Standard Zimmer. Ausstattung und Zustand waren auch nicht gut. Nur der Whirlpool wusste zu überzeugen. Wir hatten mehr erwartet und wollten einen besonderen Tag verbringen. Die Mitarbeiter und das Frühstück waren allerdings top!

The primary reason for my negative review is the fact the hotel was suppose to refund the first night of my stay due to the Train Stoppage in Amsterdam making it IMPOSSIBLE to go from Amsterdam to Groningen. I spoke with an agent and they advised me I would get credit for the first night. This did not happen. They lied. Even Expedia could not assist me. Everytime we tried to reach someone at the hotel, that person was not it.

We stayed here for four nights and had a great experience. It was a short walk to the nearest bus stop, the Martinitoren, the Forum, restaurants, small shops, and there is a grocery store practically across the street. The breakfast spread is amazing, with hot food, pastries galore, and even champagne! Hot coffee and tea are available throughout the day with their self-service machines. I can't say enough about the friendly staff who treated us so kindly and always with a smile. The hotel is very old, but has been remodeled recently. You may notice that those are real zebra heads mounted in the entryway, but there is a positive story about them. They actually died naturally at the zoo, and instead of feeding them to the lions, the zoo taxidermied them and sold them as a fundraiser. I definitely will stay here the next time we visit Groningen.

Stayed here with my tour group the night of October 8. The main building of the hotel is over 300 years old, and this hotel screams character. Some of the stairs are quite steep, but have no fear, they have elevators. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms felt a bit spartan but were very comfortable. Bathroom had a tub and a seperate shower stall. The fixtures reminded me of my grandmothers home. The breakfast was very good and well worth the price. If I were to travel to Gronnigen I would stay here again. Lots of places to eat nearby if you dont want to dine at the hotel. Underground parking is a short walk from the hotel.

We stayed here for four nights and had a great experience. It was a short walk to the nearest bus stop, the Martinitoren, the Forum, restaurants, small shops, and there is a grocery store practically across the street. The breakfast spread is amazing, with hot food, pastries galore, and even champagne! Hot coffee and tea are available throughout the day with their self-service machines. I can't say enough about the friendly staff who treated us so kindly and always with a smile. The hotel is very old, but has been remodeled recently. You may notice that those are real zebra heads mounted in the entryway, but there is a positive story about them. They actually died naturally at the zoo, and instead of feeding them to the lions, the zoo taxidermied them and sold them as a fundraiser. I definitely will stay here the next time we visit Groningen.

Wunderschönes altehrwürdiges gebäude mit einem schönen innenhof, sehr freundliches Personal. Tolles Frühstücksbuffet, das eine große Auswahl an Speisen bietet. Kein Zimmer gleicht dem anderen. Manche räume gehen über zwei Etagen. Ich hatte ein sehr geräumiges Zimmer.

The staff were friendly, and spoke good English. They have a very good breakfast. There was a relaxed vibe with interesting animal themed interior design. The staircases are steep and the rooms need to be repainted at some point. Overall, I liked the place and would come back here again.

Wir hatten von einer Suite für das Geld mehr erwartet. Wir waren noch nie in einer so kleinen Suite, war nur etwas größer als ein Standard Zimmer. Ausstattung und Zustand waren auch nicht gut. Nur der Whirlpool wusste zu überzeugen. Wir hatten mehr erwartet und wollten einen besonderen Tag verbringen. Die Mitarbeiter und das Frühstück waren allerdings top!
