Hotel France has been a Guadalajara favorite of mine for years. Whenever I visit Guadalajara, this is the hotel I choose to stay at. It has so much charm, character, and beautiful antique touches that make it truly unique. The staff is incredibly friendly and always goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and help with anything you need. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the bar is wonderful, and the breakfast is excellent. I absolutely love staying here and would highly recommend Hotel France to anyone visiting Guadalajara.

The bathroom was so tiny, there were too many steps in the room, we ordered one room but was given a bigger one that we were charged for, the jacuzzi jets did not work & the tub flooded the floor & no one spoke English. (we speak some Spanish so it was ok, but for someone with none, I would not recommend staying here.) The air conditioning was nice & the bed was comfortable.

The Location of the hotel is great and the history of it is amazing, however we will never go back. The rooms need so much attention and upgrades. We stayed 2 bedroom suite, the mattresses were so hard and both bathrooms smell like sewer and need detailed cleaning and need to change shower heads, water was going all kind of directions. It has kitchen but it’s nonfunctional, even the fridge. The suite didn’t have any amenities like iron or hair dryer, we had to leave ID in front desk to borrow them. We stayed on 3rd floor where they have a bar which is open to public, the front people told us the bar is only open til 10pm which was not true, they stayed open after midnight in one of the nights. However the hotel doesn’t own the bar so they couldn’t do anything about it.

It was a beautiful property. The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive. We even met the owner and he was a lovely person. He should us some of the ongoing renovations and taught us a little history of the hotel. He was such a sweet person. The air conditioning was a plus and the roof top bar had a magnificent view. We stayed in a two bedroom suite which was perfect for our family of five. The breakfast at the on property restaurant was amazing. My favorite was the cafe de olla, chicharrones, fresh papaya and agua de tuna. The entire family loved every moment spent there.
