Great hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Comfy bed and big room, powerful shower. Would definatly stay again and recommend this hotel. Free carpark a bonus.

Parking is a must great central location

Grand, beautiful building with attentive staff. Room was cosy, spotless and had a great view over Harrogate. Bar was great to spend a couple of hours chatting in the evening and breakfast was extensive. Lovely one night stay.

Very large hotel with spectacular windows and other architecture. Room was a good size and so was bathroom. Large dining room with lot's of choice.

All staff were helpful and polite. Hotel is a little dated but a very pleasant environment. Free car parking and a 10 minute walk into town.

The room was dated with wallpaper peeling off the walls, and some of the carpet threadbare. When I switched on the TV, the signal was so poor that any programme was unwatchable, and I tried to re-tune it. The fitness room only has one treadmill and this was out of action. Some major updating is required here.

Great location for walking round the centre of Harrogate and good easy parking

I would not recommend this hotel very dated and tired dirty bedroom and bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned for years thick of dust cobwebs hanging from the ceiling,very dark and dingy looking out at a brickwall in room 141.

This property was chosen for it's location and the parking facilities. On the outside this Hotel looks really lovely and the reception was equally as good however the room itself was not up to the standard expected (in our view) from a 3 Star Hotel. The floor was grubby with crumbs, hairs and dust on the carpet. The chair had laminate peeling off of it, the bed base was not locked to itself as there was a part missing and the switch on the light in the bathroom was broken. We chose not to dine in the restaurant but did have a bar meal which was really nice and the breakfast menu did have plenty of choices. The bar was well stocked and the staff were extremely helpful with a special mention for Georgie who was efficient and friendly.

The property requires a significant investment. I was put into a room that hadn't been touched for 20 years, ancient and dirty-looking. The carpet was so dirty-looking, I didn't take my shoes off. The paintwork hadn't been touched in decades. Very disappointed in general. The outside was lovely, and it's a grand old hotel that needs some love and care.

Lovely grand old building feom the outside with beautiful period stained glass windows and stone embellishments, but very 'tired' looking in many places, including bedrooms, corridors and dining areas. Bedroom windows replaced with double glazed sash windows and new carpets, but the cleaning of the bedrooms needs attention. Clean bedding and towels but dust and fluff in corners, mouldy bath sealant and shower curtain, bathroom door didn’t close without banging it shut and disturbing neighbours. Breakfast was plentiful with lovely attentive staff, but cobwebs hanging from the crumbling ceiling above where the food was being served. The best thing about this hotel was the staff. Such a shame the building looked like it was not being cared for inside.

Our stay at the Cairn Hotel was very enjoyable. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. Whilst the building is very old and a little dated it was very clean in public areas and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and sufficient variety for all tastes. Parking was easy and no problem finding space albeit very busy over weekend.

The room was a little dated but it was very clean, the bathroom was clean and in good repair apart from a splurging hot tap but I am not gumbling as I had hot water, it could have been much worse. The room was in the top of the building and it was very quiet. I was attending an annual event and I will be booking this hotel again next year.

We stayed in a family room and the cleanliness was disgusting. After arriving and sitting on the bed, I was covered in dog hair! Full room was full of it so the bedding obviously hadn't been changed from the last guests, it was all over the floor and everywhere. Also very loud old fashioned music till well after 11pn and very rowdy pensioners with no consideration for other guests that might be sleeping!

The room was alright, although a little tired, threadbare carpet in two places, wallpaper starting to peel. This did not detract from the very enjoyable stay. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The food was ok, the evening meal a little overpriced but tasted nice. We would stay again but not eat in the evening. There are lots of places to eat in Harrogate, which did not take long to walk to.

The building had a lot of character. With the high ceilings and open reception area, it was very grand and welcoming. The stairs and hallway were nice and wide and there was a lift available. The room was well set up, with adequate space. Our stay was at the beginning of January. There was a lot of condensation on the windows which meant you couldn't see out of them. The wall between our room and one next to it seemed paper thin. Our neighbours were just talking normally late into the night but the sound reverberated into our room as though they were there with us. This meant we didn't get to sleep till the early hours. The next morning whilst their room was being cleaned, a glance into it revealed that both headboards were against the same wall. Breakfast was great with good options. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and professional. All in all we had a good stay which could have been better with being able to get to sleep earlier.

The internet was variable and at times unable to stay connected. The property is tired in some areas but the facilities are clean and the bedding etc., spotless. It is such a conveniently located hotel it's a shame the internet is so unreliable.

Good breakfast. Poor internet, WiFi very slow

Very tired hotel the room was very small and too hot even with window open . A fan would have been perfect . Seating in car park wasn’t ideal . Perfect location for visit to Harrogate .

we were on second floor the floor boards were sguikeing the windows in the bedrooms wouldnt open so was hard to sleep.staff were great

Great location for our stay. Ample parking, shops, restaurants and bars all in walking distance. Fantastic service. Beautiful old building but needs some upgrades and the WiFi was terrible

The budget room we stayed in was basic and small but bright and sunny. The more expensive rooms are bigger but not that much better than the budget rooms. Some of the premium rooms are very dark because windows are facing obstructions, hence very little sunlight. Had a pipe burst on our last day so no hot water for shower in the morning. The staff were very helpful and gave us alternative rooms to take a shower but non of the rooms had hot water. Overall it's not a bad hotel and the staff were great.

WiFi is non existent . Room is very average. Staff was very friendly though.

The single room was adequate but the humming noise during the night was constant. (Old pipe work I assume). Could not sleep. At 1.40 am had to go to reception and ask for another room. This was swiftly done. Cooler room with no noisy humming pipes.

Staff were friendly on arrival, room was clean, The bed was very hard and was like trying to sleep a couple on an ironing board, there was a chimney outside that constantly pushed out smoke but the height of the chimney meant that the smoke would have blown direct into the room. at approx 01.30 on the 5th October the fire alarm sounded, we evacuated using the nearest route and went into the car park whilst evacuated there were many elderly people that could only move slowly thus creating what could have been a dangerous bottleneck. once outside there was little or no direction, there were three people trying to sort the batteries on the megaphone only to be told not to use it as they were in a residential area (absolute rubbish use all resources to gain customer safety). Then outside a person was trying to check peoples rooms off to ensure all were out safe, trying balance a clipboard a mobile phone torch and a pen, then work with a double side printed list is not brilliant, a headtorch would help.It was chaos at best. I discussed this with the person on the desk the following morning and made a number of suggestions regarding evacuation procedures and account for people. I was told that the procedures are cleared by the Fire and Rescue service which I accept. However I am not confident that those procedures were adhered to at all. It transpired that a vape had trigerred th alarm but there was a window open on the floor above ours, and I suggest that the chimney smoke set it

Absolutely disgusting customer service .
On arrival we were faced at reception desk by an extremely rude and obnoxious member of staff.
He was so unpleasant that my partner and I were shocked . His manner and attitude was appalling.
A second member of staff appeared and swiftly asked if we would like him to take over .
The rude first person then retreated into the back room behind the reception desk.
Almost as if it wasn’t the first time this had happened.
We were then given our “ deluxe” room keys and went in the lift along the dark dingy corridor to the room.
The room was absolutely awful.
It was dark , very basic and in need of repair and maintenance.
We decided not to stay , even though we had paid in full.
We went back to reception to give the key back and were horrified to see the rude man sitting there once more .
My partner and I have worked with the public for over 40 years and have never ever been faced with such downright rudeness.
Beautiful building on the outside but an absolute horror beyond the facade.
It should be removed from the booking sites .
STAY AWAY

We arrived early and were able to park our car for free whilst we visited the town centre, returning to the hotel to a hassle free check-in. The hotel is an old property but is well maintained and very clean. All staff were friendly and courteous. Our room was clean and well appointed and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very good with plenty of hot and cold choices. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

This has got to be the worst hotel I have ever styed at on the amount of years I have been staying away on work trips. I arrived at around 6pm to check in to be informed that breakfast was fully booked the next morning and due to me booking room only they wouldn't accommodate. Surely you should accommodate for all guests staying in the hotel regardless of what basis they have booked. If I had wanted to go out for breakfast on a freezing cold morning in an area I didn't know I would have booked a Travelodge and this would have been a lot cheaper. I queried again on check out to be rudely spoken to by the person on reception with no apology what so ever. I also asked upon check in about dinner to be told I'm not sure but he went to find out and yes I could eat in the bar or restaurant. I opted for the bar and ordered scampi and chips which was £13.95, when it arrived it came in a cone which was impossible to eat out of so the waiter brought me a fish sized dinner plate and not a full size plate. I tipped out the food and it had 6 pieces of scampi and fries which only filled the fish sized plate so was like a childs portion The whole place reminded me of faulty towers and not one to return to.

The hotel was comfortable and clean within a few minutes walking distance of the Harrogate Conference Centre. I checked out of the property on 15.09.23 and only when I returned home did I realise I had left my phone charger in my room. I called reception to ask if it had been handed in. They called back a few minutes later to say it had been found and that they would post it to me during the week. This duly happened and I received it yesterday. I was very impressed with the level of customer service. I would stay here again if visiting Harrogate in the future.

Excellent service by lovely staff wearing white shirts, white ties and waistcoats every morning for breakfast. Silent nights sleep, 250yds from Betty's Tea Rooms, Bus stops going to Leeds, York, Ripon and Knaresborough right outside, plus FREE PARKING. Excellent stay to View Harrogate and surrounding areas. Surprised to find Breakfast fully booked. I had to go into town to Weatherspoons. I did save money as the hotel breakfast would have cost me £14.95. Excellent daily room service.

Tue check in amd check out staff very ignorant. Especially the night one i asked if there was water in the room as we had just arrived from our wedding . He said NO you have to buy some and at £4.50 for water only to get to the room to see there is water . The check out lady only asked where is breakfast area for her to just point without looking .

Lovely building in town centre, great free parking which is a rarity in Harrogate. Friendly staff at check in. Room spacious and welcoming. Couldn’t fault and excellent value.

The hotel is a lovely big old fashioned building about a quarter of a mile from Harrogate's town centre. It has ample free parking, and on entering the foyer, we were very impressed with its grandeur. Check in was straight forward and the receptionist was very polite and helpful, as were the other members of staff we encountered. There is a lift. The room itself was of a fair size with everything you would expect i.e TV, tea and cofee making facilities, storage and toiletries etc. However, the room was very tired with the wallpaper peeling in places, scuff marks on the walls and skirting boards and squeeky floorboards in our room and in the room above. As we appreciate, this is a very old building, but the rooms could definitely do with a make over. The bed was really comfortable, so as we were only staying for one night, that was the most important thing. Unfortunately we were awoken very early by other guests (squeeky floorboards) going about there business above us. Didn't eat or drink here, so couldn't comment on that topic Overall, we would stay here again, but would request a top floor room.

Cairn Hotel is architecturally beautiful. The room was a bit tired. I loved the hotel as it is stunning otherwise and would stay again in the future. It was within easy walking distance to the shops, railway station etc.

Just needed a couple of nights stay and the hotel fitted our needs.A Convenient short walk into town

Good parking, 10 mins walk to town. Staff great, good cooked breakfast served on boiling hot plates at hot counter. Property is massive and refurb is always going go be ongoing reflected in price. Would stay again

For the price reasonable hotel , beautiful old building that needs serious attention. The big disappointment was the £12 breakfast which was served by staff who were obviously told to give hungry guests the bare minimum . If you asked for what would normally be deemed as a full English breakfast they replied , sorry sir we’ve run out so you’ll have to make do with the crisp bacon unnrunny fried egg and cold beans accompanied by the barely toasted cold toast and weak tea . You could if you cared about your guests advise them to go to Wetherspoons locally for a much heartier breakfast with refillable hot drinks and a smile from there grateful staff . Maybe you could do with guidance from someone who knows how to attract repeat customers !

Breakfast was decent but not much options. Strong meat smell in dining area which is quite disappointing.

Typical old hotel that has seen better days. Very large and spacious, seemed to be fully occupied due to a conference in town and a dance function at the hotel. We had booked room only but noted that breakfast was available on the website. We arrived at 7:50pm. The sign on reception advised that breakfast needed to be booked by 8:00pm. No problem. 10 minutes to spare! Only to be told quite bluntly that breakfast was full!! Raised this with the assistant manager later in the evening who apologised profusely but still no breakfast. We could book room service continental breakfast but this was not what we wanted. The shower was weak but the bathroom was clean and spacious and the beds and pillows were ok. Good location for shopping and eating and drinking, only a 10 minute stroll away. On the plus side, the excuse to have breakfast at Bettys Tea Rooms was taken full advantage of: highly recommended.

Stayed for one night in a family room, 3 of us in the room. Room size was good, beds were very comfortable. Bathroom was a good size and appeared recently refurbished to a good standard. Both room and bathroom were very clean. Breakfast was good quality and with a good choice of both hot and cold food. Big car park with free parking. I would stay here again.

Hotel looking a little tired. Could do with redecorating in most places. Having said that room was good. Bed comfy. Staff extremely friendly and were very very helpful. Beautiful breakfast in the morning.
