The hotel was easy to find and had a lovely modern reception area and bar. our room was AMAZING! A premium room which was more like a suite with separate hallway and bathroom area. It was huge and great for us and two children. Complimentary minibar with snacks and drinks. The room was on the ground floor right by reception so was really handy. The staff were really friendly and helpful and gave our daughter a certificate for her harry potter drawing. Breakfast was fantastic, lots of choice and constantly being topped up by staff. Our first ever stay in a holiday inn and we will definitely be back! Our only downside was the swimming pool - the changing room floors were very dirty and the pool area could definitely do with an upgrade. apart from that - perfect!

The beds were very soft and uncomfortable, with multiple car alarms going off all night. the pool and changing room were dirty and the jacuzzi wasn't even working. One of the bar staff was just plain rude and everything was an effort, most of the staff didn't know about the offers that were on and we had to explain them to them, and even then, they got it wrong, so we just gave up in the end. Upside food was good, and a good location to visit Harry Potter Studio Tour which the main purpose for our stop over.

Staff on reception, in bar area and in restaurant very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and comfortable. Only negative feedback is why customers should pay to park on hotel site, this only became apparent after the booking was made so needs to be clearer.

This is our second stay at this hotel. Rooms, dining service bar etc all great. We stayed 6 years ago and used the pool/sauna/steam room facilities and it’s pretty clear there’s been little investment in this area. The entire gym/pool/leisure centre requires upgrade asap as it’s dated and appears dirty.

Stayed for one night on way to Heathrow. Parking was straightforward. I have a EV, there were 2 chargers available, BP Pulse. A bit tricky to use as the didn’t take contactless cards, but sorted on BP Website. Lots of other parking available. I think hotel charged £7 overnight for charging. Checkin was fast and friendly. Room was modern, clean and comfortable. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean and had nice toiletries. Ate dinner in restaurant, went for noodles with prawns. Nice and tasty but a bit pricey. Breakfast was ok. Cereal, fruit, cooked. Only complaint was not so good for vegetarians / vegans. Veggie sausages would have been good, Checkout was fast and efficient. Would stay again.

I specifically booked this hotel for the pool, steam and sauna. The changing room was filthy and very run down. as was the pool and areas around it. It was all badly maintained and in need of a refit, I flagged this with the duty manager, who was excellent - apologising and explaining a refit was happening in future and had been signed off. Her customer service skills were excellent, as was Zoe on the leisure desk reception. I was offered dinner as compensation, which was very much appreciated. The room was fine and immaculately clean, although the pillows weren’t comfortable and the tea and coffee facilities were basic. Food was excellent in the restaurant and good service. There are very little amenities in walking distance, only an expensive garage with M&S concession next to the hotel. Parking is good - it’s an extra charge unless pre-booked.

Great base for Harry Potter studios London. The hotel had Harry potter themed activities for the kids. The food was good. The kids enjoyed swimming. The downsides: The room had massive dusty cobwebs. The sofabed duvet was a single for 2 kids sharing so we had arguments every evening and morning. Overall it was a good base and we had fun.

Hotel was perfect for what we needed. Clean, comfortable and close to Harry Potter Studios. Free minibar in premier room. Spacious room (104) with large bathroom away from main bedroom area. Food was a little pricey but expected at hotels and was delicious. Good breakfast.

Had a few problems with the room I was allocated on check-in, but these were addressed quickly, friendly and professionally by reception, with an upgrade. That room was very spacious, the only small gripe was it lacked personality. Breakfast was standard, orange juice was diluted and more like squash which is a pet hate of mine. Location wise it was perfect for me and the staff were great

Great stay. Enjoyed the daily breakfast there, comfortable bed, very nice lobby and bar. Lots of families staying there. I would have liked a refrigerator in the room tho. The hotel manager, Christian, went above and beyond giving us advice about driving the rental vehicle towards planning our trips. Harry Potter Warner Bros studio is about 35 minutes away. The Hemel-Hempstead train station is about 5 miles away. Recommend it and the Tube as transportation to/from London zone 1.

Hotel was decent. Did not love it but it was good for a 1 night stay before we went to Barcelona from Luton airport. It is close by so that was a plus and main reason for booking. AC did not work at all. They gave us a standing fan which did not really deliver much of anything but it was all we had to work with. Good short stay if traveling via LTN Airport, minutes away

Great hotel in a good location. Rooms was comfortable and clean. The Sofa Bed had been made up though restricting space in the room. I was staying alone so there was no need for this. The hotel may have been busy though so it might have been the only available room? Food was OK but very expensive for this standard of hotel, it was hardly Michelin Star but I felt it was quite pricey!

We stayed here the night before a trip to the Harry Potter Tour as a family of 4. We arrived quite late and therefore went straight to bed. Our room was on the ground floor near the end of the corridor (74). The room and bathroom were in good condition. There was quite a bit of external noise due to there being a ventilation system for the pool at window level about 10m from our window and the due to the window not being very soundproof. We were all so tired though this did not disturb us too much although this could be improved. We went for breakfast around 8am and got seated with no wait. Myself and my 6 year old daughter are coeliac so we informed the waitress and she brought us a couple of allergy cards to write down what we wanted. She also showed me the allergy list for the breakfast which was clearly displayed on the wall near the hot buffet. The only item on the hot buffet that wasnt gluten free were the sausages, although gluten free sausage was available on request (as well as gluten free bread/toast) which was nice to see as it is not common to see GF sausages on a breakfast buffet. Jams/nutella/butter etc were all available in individual size pots which made us feel much more comfortable about any cross contamination risks. Schar gluten free cornflakes and muesli were also available. We spent an hour in the pool. The changing rooms could do with a bit of a makeover. The ceiling tiles were damaged and facilities looked a bit tired and in need of a freshen up.

I stayed here on a recent business trip and, unfortunately, the experience fell well below expectations. Check-in: The queue was extremely long with only one person on the desk. Another guest knocked on the office door and we could see three staff inside not serving. Only one additional person eventually came out, and when we asked if a third could help, we were told two was “enough.” This created an avoidable delay and a poor first impression. Pool area: While it’s a plus that the hotel has a pool, the upkeep needs urgent attention. I observed brown discolouration in multiple corners and general signs of inadequate maintenance, raising basic cleanliness concerns. Bar and night management: After the bar closed, our small group returned with one drink each from across the road and sat quietly in a downstairs area. We weren’t playing music or disturbing others. A staff member who introduced himself as “Ashley” and said he was the night manager approached with a very confrontational tone and immediately threatened to call the police if we did not move. The escalation felt unnecessary and disproportionate to the situation. Overall: Core basics (front-desk staffing, cleanliness, professional communication) were not handled well. I would recommend management review staffing levels at peak times, address pool maintenance standards, and provide training on de-escalation and guest communication for night staff.

Excellent hotel all round. Friendly helpful staff, great amenities on offer at the hotel and excellent comfortable rooms. I use this hotel for work occasionally so when I knew I was bringing the family down to Hemel it was the first place I looked at. Doesn't disappoint. Will be staying here again

I met the Manager, Tony, at reception who helped me sign my vehicle in as i'd forgotten my glasses, what a super ambassador for the company he is, he alone would bring me back to Hemel again. All the staff were so professional with no request being to much. Abby was the dining room manager the first night i ate and again so professional and efficient. The same was with Debbie who greeted me at breakfast with a warm smile and advice. All three people mentioned were a delight to engage with but as i've said all the staff were exemplary especially with their patience and professionalism when presented with, in my opinion, difficult and unfair demands as some clients can be. I was pleased with the amount of parking available with plenty of choice, my two day stay from Devon was for a local family funeral the hotel and staff made a very pleasant part of a sad occasion. I booked this hotel as it offered a late check out. Arriving late and getting to my room around 1.30am, I was very upset to be woken by the cleaning staff banging on my door at 9am. I have mentioned this before at another Holiday Inn but was told this shouldn't happen and was an isolated incident. It is clear to see this is an ongoing company problem. Better communication between reception and cleaning staff will ensure guests are not disrupted and rooms are cleaned upon check out.

On arrival at the hotel one of our rooms was not ready at 2pm but had a complementary drink because of it this is something that needs looking at. I do not normally fill these surveys in but I have to compliment this hotel for the friendly welcome by all areas of your team. The hotel rooms are clean enough but the pool areas are dated and dirty. Breakfast was a joke. Not enough staff, not enough seats and poor food. We waited to be seated for 15mins even though th we re were seats in the bar area that weren’t being used. Then, both coffee machines were out of order so no hot drinks were available.

This is a nice, clean and well kept hotel with great access and location. The staff are friendly and helpful and it has lots of amenities. Our family room was huge and everything worked well. The only downside for me was that breakfast was a shambles and very disorganised. No cutlery on tables, coffee machines not working etc. We could have just turned up at the peak moment and others may have had no issues at all. As I say, brilliant hotel otherwise.

This is such a lovely welcoming hotel, the staff turn into friends who are always pleased to see you. Such a lovely group of hosts. The food is very good, compliments to the catering team, eating for our family is always a nightmare but we were all very impressed with the quality and quantity. Definitely reflected in the price though but worth it all the same! Gluten free, dairy free all catered for. Gluten free beer and cider available a big deal in our family! Dairy free butter portions at breakfast and soya oat and coconut milk at the Buffett, gf husband was given schar toast at breakfast yesterday, possibly a supermarket brand today but great nonetheless. Very grateful, would love to stay again, very relaxed, cosy atmosphere. Pool, sauna steam room, jacuzzi and great sized pool with floaties!! Pinot rose expensive but worth the pennies
